Sub-sub query referencing outside column

The following SQL statement executes:
select
ci.name,
ci.customer_id KeyMed_Ship_to,
select cnp from
select co.customer_no_pay cnp, count(co.customer_no_pay) ccnp from ifsapp.customer_order co
where co.contract like 'OIA%'
and co.customer_no='???????'
group by co.customer_no_pay
order by count(co.customer_no_pay) desc
where rownum=1
) KeyMed_Bill_To,
select ptip.value from ifsapp.party_type_id_property ptip
where ptip.company='OIA' and ptip.party_type='Customer'
and ptip.identity=ci.customer_id and ptip.code='JDE BILL-TO'
) JDE_Bill_To,
select ptip.value from ifsapp.party_type_id_property ptip
where ptip.company='OIA' and ptip.party_type='Customer'
and ptip.identity=ci.customer_id and ptip.code='JDE SHIP-TO'
) JDE_Ship_To
from
ifsapp.customer_info ci, ifsapp.identity_invoice_info iii
where
iii.company='OIA' and iii.party_type='Customer' and iii.identity=ci.customer_id and group_id='SRG'
But really,
and co.customer_no='???????'
should be
and co.customer_no=ci.customer_id
however, it seems taht column is not "known" by the sub-subquery.
How can I use the value of the column in customer_id (ci) there?
Thanks

Just FYI (sorry if what I say is well-known) :
Then one is getting from subqueried columns to subqueries as tables,
there is a pitfall related to outer and inner joins.
In fact the subqueried column simulate logically an outer join like
in the example:
SQL> select deptno from dept;
    DEPTNO
        10
        20
        30
        40
        50

SQL> select d.deptno, (select count(1) from emp e where e.deptno = d.deptno) cnt

        30          6
        40          0

    Hello all,

    Does anyone know of a way to rewrite the query to avoid the compilation warnings?

    For what it is worth, whenever you compare a date column to either sysdate or any built-in function returning a date you will get that warning.

    In this case, you can ignore the warning, as it is not correct. Sysdate and a date column have different internal data types (note the type 13 for sysdate and type 12 for the date column), and whatever internally generates the warnings seems to just compare the type number.
    SQL> insert into tmp_order values(sysdate, sysdate);

  • Single Sub Row Query Returns More Than 1 Row!

    I am trying to update values in a table from another table and getting the error: Single Sub Row Query Returns More Than 1 Row.
    I want table B's PRV_NAME updated into table A's PRV_NAME where A.PRVID = B.PRVID where B.PRV_TYPE = M'
    Both tables have all unique PRVID's, however, table B has PRVID's that have the same name. So table B data can look like this:
    PRVID PRV_NAME
    1234 PHOENIX MED
    1235 SAC MED
    1236 SAC MED
    1237 OVERLAND
    etc..
    So, as you can see the PRVID's are unique, but not the PRV_NAME's. Is this the reason why I get this error?
    I did not build the tables and have no control over what is put in them. If this is the reason for the error, is there any way to resolve this?
    For reference, here is the query. Maybe there is something wrong with this?
    update msb_prv_source ps
    set ps.prv_name =
    (select prv00.prv00_prv_name
    from prv00_prv prv00
    join msb_prv_source ps
    on prv00.prv00_prv_id = ps.prvid
    where prv00.prv00_prv_type = 'M')

    PRVIDIf b.prvid is really unique, then
    UPDATE  a
    SET     prv_name = (
                     SELECT  prv_name
                     FROM    b
                     WHERE   a.prvid     = b.prvid
    ;should work, whether the other columns are unique or not.
    (Depending on your data and your requirements, you might want to use MERGE rather than UPDATE).
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
    In the case of a DML operation (such as UPDATE) the sample data should show what the tables are like before the DML, and the results will be the contents of the changed table(s) after the DML.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

    update msb_prv_source ps
    set ps.prv_name =
    (select prv00.prv00_prv_name
    from prv00_prv prv00
    join msb_prv_source ps
    on prv00.prv00_prv_id = ps.prvid
    where prv00.prv00_prv_type = 'M')Even if ps.prvid is unique, the sub-query can return more than 1 row if prv00.prv00_prv_id is not unique. When that that's the case, what do you want to happen? Include examples when you post the sample data and desired results.

  • Showing Sub-Totals only for Specific Column in PowerView

    Hi,
    Is there a way of showing the sub-totals only for specific columns in a PowerView Matrix?
    I am only aware of showing the sub-totals for all or non of the columns.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Justin

    Hi Justin,
    According to your description, you want to get sub-totals specific columns within columns group. Right?
    In this scenario, we can use IIF() function in expression to achieve your goal. The expression will only return the total value when the column value is a specific value, otherwise we can make it return nothing. Try the following expression:
    IIF(Fields!Column.Value="[specific value]",Sum(Fields!Total.Value),nothing)
    We have tested this scenario in our local environment. Here are screenshots for your reference:

  • TestStand sub-sequence naming problem: "Step" column doesn't match "View" menu

    Refer to the attached screenshoot; when I rename the sub-sequences in the "Step" column to the left, these names don't show up in the "View" menu pull-down list shown on the right. What's going on here?
    All my sequences are in one .seq file.

    They're not supposed to. When you rename a step, that's not the same thing as renaming a sub-sequence. Say you have a sub-sequence called x, you could have steps called "call sequence x_1", "call sequence x_2", "call sequence x_3", etc., all calling the same sub-sequence. It's no different than the different labels you might have every time you call a pass/fail step.

    Thanks in advance.Do you really mean that?
    select col1 from table1 where col1='5';That query will always return either '5' or nothing. Whatever you're trying to accomplish with that, you can do with an EXISTS query.
    Perhaps you meant to reference two different columns in that query:
    select col1 from table1 where col2='5';In that case, sorry, no, you can't do that without resorting to dynamic SQL.
    If the same column is used throughout the query (but could change every time you run the query), then the dynamic SQL might be pretty easy. In SQL*Plus, for example, you could use substitution variables, defined in another query at run-time.
    If there are only a few possible values that the sub-query could possibly return, and you know what they all are, then you can fake a dynamic query like this:
    SELECT     CASE     ( SELECT  col1
                FROM       table1
                WHERE       col2     = '5'
              WHEN  'BONUS'     THEN  bonus
              WHEN  'COMM'     THEN  comm
              WHEN  'SAL'     THEN  sal
         END     AS col1
    FROM     table2
    ;Sorry to give such a vague answer, but it's the best I can do with the information I have.
    It would help if you posted a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statments for both tables), and the results you want to get from that data. If you want to pass a parameter to the query, give the results you want for a couple of different parameters.

  • About Query Data Source Columns property

    Hello everyone,
    I'm new to Oracle Forms version 10.1.0.2.
    When I create a data block based on a table using Data Block Wizard, the block's Query Data Source Columns property is automatically populated with column definition entries corresponding to the columns of the base table.
    I tried making changes to these entries, for example by changing the data types to wrong data types or even deleting them, and I found that those changes had no effect on the block at all. The form was still working as I wanted.
    Please explain what is exactly the role of the block's Query Data Source Columns property.
    Thank you very much.
    p.s: The F1 key help says "The Query Data Source Columns property is valid only when the Query Data Source Type property is set to Table, Sub-query, or Procedure". So, please explain in each context of Query Data Source Type.

    p.s: The F1 key help says "The Query Data Source Columns property is valid only when the Query Data Source Type property is set to Table, Sub-query, or Procedure". So, please explain in each context of Query Data Source Type.
    IMHO those properties are very self-explaining: It is the data source of the block, or in other terms: how it is populated.
    Table means the data block is based on a table and subsequently will be populated by
    select col1, col2, col3 from your_table
    With sub-query the block will be populated with your subquery; forms will issue
    select col1, col2, col3 from (
      -- this is your subquery
      select col1, col2, col3 from tab1, tab2 where [....]
    With Procedure in short you'd have a stored procedure which returns a ref cursor and the block will be populated by the ref cursor.
    As for your question about the name: this actually should matter; the default is NULL which means that there needs to be a column which has the exact name as the item so in the above sample with table the item associated with your_table.col1 should be named col1. If it isn't the property should be named like the column. If this property also doesn't reflect the name this shouldn't work IMO.
    cheers

  • Sub Sub Reports

    In order to emulate a vertical break, I am trying to use sub sub-reports so that I can format detail sections with multiple columns but not across the entire page.  Is this possible and worth trying?

    The layout required specifies for graphs next to the tables.  Although I could format with multiple columns and place the primary sub report into the details line in the main report (and get three elements per line), this precludes the use of the required graphs unless I can do one of two things:
    A:  Create a vertical break, so that I have 2/3 of the page taken up with repeated sub-report elements, and use the rest as blank space in which too insert the graphs.
    B:  Specify that subreports 3, 6, and 9 (when laid out across-then-down) are from a different source (I would create a separate graph and use as a sub report in this case.)
    The effect appearing as follows:
    Report Header
    Group Title
    XXXX XXXX OOO
    XXXX XXXX OOO
    XXXX XXXX OOO
    Footer
    OOO OOO OOO
    Where XXXX XXXX are distinct data tables, and OOO is a corresponding bar graph comparing trends between the two. Due to source data sharing each XXXX has to be it's own mini report, and because the grouping elements change frequently it is not convenient to write a query to generate a flat table each time we generate these.
    Thanks for your help so far...

  • Best practice - updating figure numbers in a file, possibly to sub-sub-chapters

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie trying to unlearn my InDesign mindset to work in FrameMaker. What is best practice for producing figure numbers to accompany diagrams throughout a document? A quick CTRL+F in the Framemaker 12 Help book doesn't seem to point me in a particular direction. Do diagrams need to be inserted into a table, where there is a cell for the image and a cell for the figure details in another? I've read that I should  use a letter and colon in the tag to keep it separate from other things that update, e.g. F: (then figure number descriptor). Is there anything else to be aware of, such as when resetting counts for chapters etc?
    Some details:
    Framemaker12.
    There are currently 116 chapters (aviation subjects) to make.
    Each of these chapters will be its own book in pdf form, some of these chapters run to over 1000 pages.
    Figure number ideally takes the form: "Figure (a number from one of the 1-116 chapters used) - figure number" e.g. "Figure 34 - 6." would be the the 6th image in the book 'chapter 34'.
    The figure number has to cross reference to explaining text, possibly a few pages away.
    These figures are required to update as content is added or removed.
    The (aviation) chapter is an individual book.
    H1 is the equivalent of the sub-chapter.
    H2 is the equivalent of the sub-sub-chapter.
    H3 is used in the body copy styling, but is not a required detail of the figure number.
    I'm thinking of making sub-chapters in to individual files. These will be more manageable on their own. They will then be combined in the correct order to form the book for one of these (1 of 116) subject chapters.
    Am I on the right track?
    Many thanks.
    Gary

    Hi,
    Many thanks for the link you provided. I have implemented your recommendation into my file. I have also read somewhere about sizing anchored frames to an imported graphic using 'esc' + 'm' + 'p'.
    What confuses me, coming from InDesign is being able to import these graphics at the size they were made ( WxH in mm at 300ppi) and keeping them anchored to a point in the text flow.
    I currently have 1 and 2 column master pages built. When I bring in a graphic my process is:
    insert a single cell table on the next space after current text > drop the title below the cell > give the title a 'figure' format. When I import a graphic it either tries to fit it in the current 2 column layout with only part of it showing in a box which is half the width of a single column!
    A current example: page 1 (2 column page) the text flows for 1.5 columns. At the end of the text I inserted a single cell table, then imported and image into the cell.
    Page 2 (2 column page) has the last line of page 1's text in the top left column.
    Page 3 (2 page column)  has the last 3 words of page 1 in its top left column.  The right column has the table in it with part of the image showing. The image has also bee distorted, like it's trying to fit. These columns are 14 cm wide, the cell is 2 cm wide at this point. I have tried to give cells for images 'wider' attributes using the object style designer but with no luck.
    Ideally I'm trying to make 2 versions. 1) an anchored frame that fits in a 1 column width on a 2 column width page. 2) An anchored frame that fits the full width of my landscape pages (minus some border dimension),  this full width frame should be created on a new proceeding page. I'd like to be able drop in images to suit these different frames with as much automation as possible.
    I notice many tutorials tell you how to do a given area of the program, but I haven't been able to find one that discusses workflow order. Do you import all text first, then add empty graphic boxes and/or tables throughout and then import images? I'm importing text from Word,  but the images are separate, having been vectored or cleaned up in Photoshop - they won't be imported from the same word file.
    many thanks

  • Why is sub, sub, sub menu way off to the right?

    Why is my sub,sub, sub menu way over to the right? I've tried this also on a
    blank page and it does the same thing?
    http://www.carroll-indoor.com/temp9/
    Any other page suggestions are fine as well!

    I would be inclined to extract the menu from the page, place it in a new empty one, and work on getting in shape. I'm not seeing the sub, sub, sub menu display at all. I'm only seeing the final "Refs" item, and it has static positioning. Looking at the "Refs" parent <li>, Opera Dragonfly reports the computed style as:
    -o-transform-origin: 60px 18px;
    background-attachment: none;
    background-clip: none;
    background-color: #ffffff;
    background-origin: none;
    background-position: none;
    background-repeat: none;
    background-size: none;
    bottom: 160px;
    color: #868686;
    cursor: pointer;
    display: list-item;
    float: none;
    font-family: Arial;
    font-size: 12px;
    height: 36px;
    left: 212px;
    line-height: 18px;
    list-style-image: none;
    list-style-position: outside;
    list-style-type: none;
    margin-bottom: 0px;
    margin-left: 0px;
    margin-right: 0px;
    margin-top: 0px;
    padding-bottom: 0px;
    padding-left: 0px;
    padding-right: 0px;
    padding-top: 0px;
    position: fixed;
    right: 332px;
    text-align: center;
    top: 124px;
    width: 120px
    Looking at that, you have all margins and padding set to "0", floating turned off, with fixed positioning, reinforced by stating your "box" width and height, and explicitly defining the positioning for for that box with top, right, bottom, and left values. This results in all of your buttons being stacked one atop the other. If you are using some JavaScript to reposition everything, you may want to delve into that. I viewed your reference page in Opera 10.60, Firefox 3.6, Safari 4, and Chrome 4, on Mac OS 10.5.8.
    Big help, I am.

  • Creating Query with dynamic columns to show results

    Hi experts,
    I need to know how to create a query with dynamic columns. Meaning, I don't want to create a query with fixed columns representing the 12 periods of the fiscal year to show me actuals as the fiscal year proceeds.
    For example, if I am currently in the middle of period 3 (March) of a fiscal year, when I execute the query, I need it to automatically only show me the 'Actuals' for periods 1 and 2, without seeing the columns from periods 3 to 12 showing blank.
    Then when I am in the middle period 5 (May) the query should ONLY show me the columns for periods 1 to 4 'Actuals', no results should be shown for periods 5 to 12 yet, and I don't want to even see blank columns for period 6 to 12.
    How do I define my columns, to achieve this.
    Maximum points will be awarded.
    Thanks Everyone.

    Hi Josh,
    I'm having a little difficuluty understanding what should be included in my restricted key figures.
    The time characteristics that I have available to use are:
    0FISCPER3 (posting period)
    0FISCYEAR (fiscal year), currently using SAP EXIT to default current fiscal year.
    0FISCVARNT (fiscal year variant).
    In addition, I have the following characteristics available to be used in the columns:
    Value type (10)
    version (currently I'm using variable for it)
    Currency type (020)
    Currency (USD).
    Can you explain what my restricted key figure should be based on and how it should look.
    I tried to create a restircted key figure using 0AMOUNT, and 0FISCPER3. For 0FISCPER3  I created a range from 1 to previous period (using SAP EXIT that supplied previous period).I also had value type, version, currency type, and currency included in that restricted key figure.Then when I tried to drag 0FISCPER3 under the restricted key figure once again, it wouldn't let me, probably because I've already used 0FISCPER3 in the restricted key figure.
    Please let me know if my explanation is not clear.
    Your step by step help would be great.
    Thanks

  • ADF BC : "Attributes selected in query with no column type found! ..."

    hi
    Using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0, I have this "Selected in Query" attribute, "Never" updatable, in my Entity Object.
    The Entity Object is based on the SCOTT.EMP table and the attribute, called "BonusInfo", is defined using the expression " '[bonus info ' || (SAL * 2) || ']' ".
    see http://verveja.footsteps.be/~verveja/files/oracle/NoColumnTypeFoundApp-v0.01.zip
    While creating this Entity Object, I got a "Business Components" dialog that says:
    "Column type is not specified for this attribute. Specifying column-type and precision results in better query performance at runtime. Do you wish to set column type to VARCHAR2(255)?"
    I clicked "Yes".
    I also created two View Objects based on this Entity Object.
    In the "Create View Object" wizard "Step 4 of 7: Attribute Settings" I got a "Business Components" diaglog that says:
    "Attributes selected in query with no column type found! Specifying column-type and precision results in better query performance at runtime. Do you wish to set default column type for these attributes?"
    I clicked "Yes".
    Testing the query in "Step 5 of 7: SQL Statement" showed "Query is valid.".
    question:
    Why do I keep getting the message ...
    "Attributes selected in query with no column type found! Specifying column-type and precision results in better query performance at runtime. Do you wish to set default column type for these attributes?"
    ... in the View Object Editor if I click on different attributes?
    (I don't get such a message the first time I click on an attribute after opening the View Object Editor, but after that it keeps popping up each time I click on a different attribute, no matter what I answer "Yes", "No" or "Cancel".)
    many thanks

    Jan,
    BC needs the column type and precision so that we can allocate the correct JDBC buffer size; otherwise we would just allocate 2k per string.
