Query on database column not working

Hi
i have a block which has around 40 columns.the block is based on a table which has more than 20000 records.When i try 2 make query on a Database column in Enter-Query mode its not working.It fetching all the records instead of the respective records
THe block property is said to yes
i have even set the query allowed,only propery of the column to YEs
Can any one help me out of this??? do i need to set any other property???

I have one more doubt .i have a requirement in which when the user goes to the child block and makes a query is it possible to bring the associates parent records..wht code or trigger we need to rite ?
normally we do for parent block when we query we populate the child. is this can be done?

this works well on other databases but not working on one database. Everything is same configuration and OS and everything.
I can work on other XML parsing which is working fine but not this query.

After upgrading ACS 3.3.1 to 4.2 on windows the local database is not working

Hi,
I have upgaded the ACS 3.3.1 for windows server to 4.2. Everything went fine but the local database is not working.
The CD is an upgrade kit from 3.x to 4.2 on windows. I tried to install directly the 4.2 I was able to install but integration with AD/LDAp is not working. Anysay its an upgrade kit so I cant expect it shoud work when install drectly the 4.2 but by upgrading from 3.3 to 4.2 everything should work fine.
I followed the upgradation path as recomended.
Also we have a requirment that once it is upgraded to 4.2 we need to shift the whole thing from the physical server to a virtual machine on VMware ESX server 3.5.
Can anybody pls guide me if anything else to do after the upgradation.

Hi Javier,
First of all I was facing a problem of restoring the old database of 3.3 to 4.2. Somehow I overcame that issue by following the below steps. Now local authentication is working fine but AD/other External database authentication is not working. As you told the setting for the unknown users are configured to fetch the credentials from the external database if it is not in the local database.
Do we need to do anything in the AD itself?

Steps for ACS upgrade to 4.2 version
Below are the requested steps mentioned for the up gradation from ACS 3.3.2 to ACS 4.2.
        1)     Take a configuration backup from existing ACS. ACS--->System
configuration----> ACS Backup
2)    now if you have ACS 3.3.2 on server. take backup of the ACS
3)   Insert the cd or if you have the set up on the system then Run the setup of ACS 3.3.4. During the process it will prompt you to
upgrade existing configuration. Make sure you check that option else we will
loose the database. Now you need to hit next.next to finish the 3.3.4 upgrade.
4)     Once you are at 3.3.4, take a backup and keep it handy.
5)     Run the setup of 4.1.1. During this process it will prompt you to
upgrade existing configuration. Make sure you check that option else we will
loose the database. Now you need to hit next.next to finish the 4.1 upgrade.
6)Once you are at 4.1.1.24 take a backup and keep it handy.
7)     Run the setup of 4.2. During this process it will prompt you to
upgrade existing configuration. Make sure you check that option else we will
loose the database. Now you need to hit next.next to finish the 4.2 upgrade.
8)     Once you are at 4.2 take a backup and keep it handy. Now run the
patch 12 and take a backup again.
9)     Now fresh install 4.2 on your new production server and install patch
12. Restore the 4.2 patch 12 backup and you should be all set.

I had a problem of accessing Oracle 10g database homepage. After a couple of days of research and discussions with coworker we found a solution.
Here is the solution:
1. Find out your default browser.
2. Configure your default web browser to connect to the Oracle Database XE Database Home Page as stated
here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/install.102/b25143/toc.htm#CIHHJEHF
If this does not help de-install Oracle XE and reinstall following the instruction. During re-installation find out your default browser and configure it as instructed.
I suspect when the default web browser changes the Oracle 10g XE Database Home Page stops working.

We have a BO report on Bex query, Not on universe, we have a Hierarchy for Cost Element Group, and we are expecting the Drill down functionality for that in BO report, but it does not.

Hi,
WebI reports on BEx source don't use same Drill feature as other sources, it's replaced by expland/collapse of hierarchy nodes (documented in WebI user guide in § "24.1 Drill defined"). This means you have to create query which selects all hierarchy sub-tree you plan on exploring later in report, otherwise if no data is available under a node there will be no '+/-' sign to visit this part of tree.
You could try first to select "All members" from hierarchy in QueryPanel and see if behavior in report suits your needs. Then you should restrict hierarchy member selection to what's really needed to avoid performance issues.

Sort Order Column not Working

I have set a sort order column on one of A VARCHAR field, but the functionality is not working. The sorting is enabled in the table view and when I sort by the said column it still sorts based on the VARCHAR values of the column instead of the other INT column I want to sort by. The logical SQL and physical query never even includes the column to sort. Are there any exceptions for the 'Sort Order Column' setting? Is there a config setting or data connections setting that I need to check to make this work?

can you give me more detailes like some sample column data like below kind
Like Ex: varchar month column it sould display based on month id
month : Fev-2011,Dec-2011,jan-2011 and month id 1 to 12
set your month id as sort order column of month name.
double click month name ->In general tab set the sort order column as month id

Why sort on a column not working?

Run a query and then right click on a char. column (already displayed as key), then Sort -> either "Ascending According to Key" or "Descending According to Key", but the sort not working. We've tried both BEX query and Web, none works for the sort. We are using BI7.0 server, but BEX queries were created under BW3.5 BEX query designer.
Any clue why the sort not working?

ReadObject query by idfr does not work first call

I am running Toplink 10.1.3.0.0 inside the oc4j container. A basic example is that I have an object Employee that has a String attribute id. This class goes to the employee table. I have set an Expression in the Toplink Workbench to do Read Object and it just checks that id = the idfr passed in as an argument. When running the query by the idfr in the container, the idfr is set as the argument and the data exists in the database. With Toplink logging turned onto FINE I see the query being run "select xyz from employee where idfr = x". But the return value from the query is null. But if I run the query through a second time it returns with the correct object. I have tried changing this to a Read All query, and then just accessing the 0th element from the List returned, and this seems to work fine. I am still concerned, though, as to why the Read Object query does not work on the first go around as is expected?

Any reason you set the Read Object query? The Expression you've provided is the same as what TopLink generates.
Out of interest, does the problem occur if your primary key attribute is an int/long, or some other numeric type. Does your String attribute value or query id value have trailing or leading spaces? Oracle database will trim leading and trailing blanks on INSERT/UPDATE which can lead to confusion.
Turn the logging up to FINEST and look for log messages relating to registration of existing objects. If you can post the test code and log that would help.

Bfile columns not working for files in network

Hello all,
I have made a table with a column of type bfile. When i call the function bfilename(<alias-dir>,<filename>) it works fine as long as the alias-directory is mapped to a physical drive on the machine(Windows NT) on which the database is running. But if i specify a network directory which has been mapped to a drive say "F:/" then the same is not working.
Can anyone pls tell me what the problem is? And is there a solution to the same?

This is maybe a security problem. I think the "oracle" user is not allowed to access the network files.

Content query web part is not working after chaning the DNS entry

We have a content query web part in the sharepoint site but it is not working after changing the DNS Entry for the web site ipaddress from one server to other . But it is working fine on the server, if we try to access the site from other system content
quey server its not working fine and its giving error message as bellow.

I have custom XSLT . But it is working fine before changing the dns entry as soon as we change the DNS entry the content quey web part is not working. I tried to delete the content query web part and add it once again to the page, As soon as content query
web part is added to the page the fallowing error message is displayed.

Assigned To column not working in the quick search of a list

Hi, I have a list where we have a column called Assigned To, but it is a single line of text column type. Search is working since I am able to find other values in the list.
Now, when using the quick search, it is not working or showing results in this column.
Could this be related that this column is a manage metadata column type as default in SharePoint?
I have created a new list with this value but, as person column type and it is not working either.
Any ideas?

Please check and make sure your custom "Managed Property" map to the crowed property generated by managed metadata column, and set the manged property as "Searchable" then start an incremental crawl or full crawl.
For "Assigned To" column(e.g. crawled property should be "ows_Assigned_x0020_To"), I enabled the "Searchable" option for the manged property, then start an incremental crawl, and then search the
user in "Find an item" and it worked, you can try.

Query key Date Variable not working

Hi Folks -
I am coming across an issue with which some of you might be able to help me. I have a time dependent master data object which I've marked as a datatarget and have created a report on it. I wanted to give the user an option of specifying the key date and hence have created a variable in the query properties for the key date. This variable is of the type SINGLE VALUE, MANDATORY, USER ENTRY and CAN BE CHANGED DURING QUERY NAVIGATION.
Now my issue is that even though I enter a specific key date, the query is not pulling the records according to the key date. But instead if I use the option of specifying a particular date (instead of a variable in query properties), the query is running fine!!! Can someone please let me know why this is happening? Why is the query working fine when I mention a single constant value but not when I use a variable? Thanks for your help in advance.

Database Mail not working with SQL Server Agent

I'm running SQL Server 2005 Standard edition 64 bit with SP2 on a 64 bit machine.
Database mail does not work with SQL Server Agent. When I configure SQL Server Agent to use database mail the test email button is greyed out and inactive therefore I cannot send emails using operators or for jub success failure etc.
I've read that there was supposed to be a fix for this with SP1 but I have SP2 and still receive the same problem. Please can somebody help as I do not wish to use SQL Mail as a work around due to this becomming redundant in future versions of SQL Server.

The problems solved
steps:
1)we create a mail profile at at Managment->Database Mail ,of SQL Managment
2)we set this account as "default" at Managment->Database Mail -> Configure Database Mail -> Manage profile security
3)At tab "Alert System" of SQL Server Agent properties , we check the "Enable mail profile" , Mail System=Database Mail, Mail profile = "the profile we already create"
4)we create a new operator at "Operators" of sql agent, where at "notification options" -> "Email name" we put the mail where we want to sent the agent the mails at failured job
5)We go at a specific job, at tab "Notifications" ,we check the "email" check box and then we choose the operator we just create, at the text box next to check box.

Query in Main Task Not Working But it works For BG Task

I have a requirement to send work item to different level approvers for that i have to find final level approver from a table and save the data accordingly ,
i have a main task and a Background task
<b> my problem is that the same query that works in back ground task is not working in the Main Task.</b>
SWC_GET_ELEMENT CONTAINER 'LEVEL' Level. is a macro written in the method in BOR in main task for getting value which is in the WF container and has binded to the task container. it is not picking up the value from the task container to the method.
Please help me on this

i have two tasks,(these two tasks are in a loop.) with one BOR(object) and two Methods
One Method is for first Main task and another is for second task(which is a background task)
i need to get a value called final from a table, i've written a query in the method of Back ground task. and i'm getting the value correctly but i'm not able to pass this value to the main task coz the loop exits after executing the subtask and coz loops exit point is the value final.
So for getting the value of Final in main task i've written the same query in main task but its not working.

Database link not working properly

I have to link to another database...I have created an entry in my TNS names on the oracle server and have used the following script to create the link:
CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK DATA
CONNECT TO USERNAME IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD
USING 'DATA';
Data is the name of the database sid, and I am able to connect to the server using the username/password@sid in sqlplus. Oracle tells me that the link is created successfully, however if I try to describe user_tables@data I get the following error:
SQL> desc user_tables@data;
ERROR:
ORA-02085: database link DATA connects to DATA.WORLD

You will see this error when the global name of the remote database does not match what you have in your link. Although the link name might match the SID, the fully qualified link name does not.
You can either:
1) Set the GLOBAL_NAMES parameter to FALSE in the database in which you have created the database link.
2) Recreate the link so that the full link matches the global name of the remote db (query GLOBAL_NAME in the remote db if you don't know it)
