Subject column doesn't show in Mail

Installed the latest Security Update last night.  Was using the WideMail plugin.  I was promptly informed I'd no longer be able to use that plugin upon restarting the mail app.  Of course I had to reshow all the columns that were previously displayed using WideMail, but I can't get the Subject column up.  I've tried restarting and expamding/contracting widths to see if it's hidden somewhere but to no avail.  Any help is greatly appreciated in this matter.

If you'd like to use widemail (which is a perfect solution for 10.6. imo) after security update, use this little plugin and everything will be like before:

If you only want to solve your problem, use a right click on the column bar and check if "subject" is marked.

Since the Ios 5 and 5.0.1 the count of my unread emails doesn't show/appear anymore in the mail app on the iPhone? pls help

I am experiencing the same thing.  It was working and showing the exact count as my OS X Lion Mail.  However, since the 5.0.1 update, it no longer shows anything or even provides push notifications.

  • After signing in successfully can't open calendar and integrated gmail doesn't show my mail and calendar

Three issues that occur after successful sign in:
    1. Can't open calendar or any other gmail option, I get a message saying: Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page.
    2. Can't set appropriate signature in the settings signature box. When I try to save it say "Sorry, the signature [email protected] is too long. Please try a shorter signature." This is my email address and I want it as part of my automated signature that I placed in the appropriate settings box.
    3. I loaded the integrated gmail add on (may be called an extension) and it doesn't work. My calendar doesn't show up when I sign into mail. It used to work beautifully and was very helpful. I believe I'm on the latest version of Firefox. What can I do? I have three (3) other gmail accounts and have these same issue with all of them.
*** Sorry, but I need these issues resolved immediately as I use gmail for my two businesses and personal account. ***

    (1) You get the infobar from Firefox saying that the site wants to redirect you? You can turn that off here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced > General
Un-check the box for "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page"
More generally, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove your google.com cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these:
    * While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
    (2) I'd have to log in and see what this feature is
    (3) Could you provide a link to that particular extension over on the add-ons site, or it exact name?

  • Inbox Doesn't Show New Mail Until I Click Out of Inbox and Click Back In

Hello, I originally posted this in the Microsoft Community, but I was told to post here instead. HELP!!! Nobody I know seems to have an answer for this.
I have Outlook 2010 connected to Exchange (work email). Whenever I get new mail, I have to click out of the Inbox and then click back in, in order to see and open my new mail. I do receive the pop-up notification in the lower right hand corner, and
I receive the "(1)" notification next to "Inbox" on the left side menu (that's how I know when I have new mail), but no actual email shows in the Reading/Window Pane. It's like I have to refresh my Inbox.
The problem does not exist with any of my Inbox subfolders - only the Inbox itself.
When I had my department help desk remote in, the problem ceased (making me sound crazy), but when the technician logged off remote access, boom, the problem was back.
I've searched the internet, contacted my help desk multiple times, and deleted and re-created my Outlook profile, but nothing has worked so far.
Any insight into this issue would be greatly appreciated, as this problem is a pain!

    Hi,
Please check whether you can see the items in your Inbox using Online mode or Outlook Web Access or Outlook Web App (OWA). If you just cannot see them in your Cached mode profile, please start Outlook using the following command-line (Click
Start and then click Run) to have a try:
    Outlook.exe /cleanips
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2330226
If it doesn’t work, please change a new computer to have a try.
    Thanks,

  • My mail application doesn't show e-mails in a timely manner.  They show up hours after they are sent.  Any idea what I can do?

When I click on the stamp to get my e-mails, some of them come up but not all of them.  I can open a window and log into aol and see that
it shows I have a lot more e-mails that don't appear in my mail application.   Also, some e-mails disappear before I have a chance to open
them.  I don't know what's going on.  If I close out my mail application and re-open it, they reappear.  Does anyone know how to help me?

All email recipients are stored in a list of previous recipients that is used for the autofill feature when addressing a message in addition to the address book. The Mail.app on a Mac includes the same along with an option to access the list of previous recipients. You can add a previous recipient to the Address Book that is not already entered, or remove a previous recipient from the list.
Access to the list of previous recipients with the iPhone's mail client is not available - at the present time anyway.
If you restored your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, this data is included with your iPhone's backup.
To get rid of what is currently in the list of previous recipients at the present time requires restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup. Relatively big price to pay regarding something that shouldn't be extremely difficult to ignore - at least until access to the list of previous recipients is supported.

  • Get info pane doesn't show appropriate "more info" info

Hello. There's a problem on my "get info" pane, where normally there should be a "more info" column showing some information about "image size", "author", etc.
But recently, for example, an image file's "more info" column doesn't show its dimension and other info, only showing "title" and "last opened". And other things are simply gone.
Another example is MP3 files, normally there should be showing more metadata like "bitrate", "artist", "duration", etc. But now, it just shows the "title" and "last opened".
This really bugs me because I normally used to look at some info about these things sometimes when I need to check it out when doing some picture works. So basically the main problem is "more info" doesn't show information that I needed and which it should be there, but somehow there's a problem on Mac OS X that makes it failed to show them all out.
If anyone could tell me a way to fix it, I am very appreciated!! Thank you!!
Here's the get info pane of both MP3 and JPEG files:

Generally when the "More Info" section is nearly empty it is because the file in question has not been indexed by Spotlight. As to WHY it hasn't, that is a whole 'nother question, which you may be able to answer. Perhaps you have it stored somewhere that is excluded in the Spotlight Privacy pane, or on a drive where Spotlight is disabled, or in a folder where you don't have proper permissions... and so on.

    Hi All,
May I request for inputs on the following issue please. Request iSetup Development to confirm if this is the intended feature.

Customer expects to see the numbers for this column. Why this is left blank?
I can see that even the documentation shows the blank column.

    Hi there
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that you wish to enable the reveal password icon for your system. I am happy to help. It really depends on which version of the Operating system you are running, because this sort of thing is normally controlled using the Group Policy Editor. That tool is not a part of a Home edition, you would need the Pro version or higher to have that. Assuming that you do have a pro edition or higher, then these may be of help to you:5 Ways to Access Local Group Policy Editor on Windows 10 - isunshare.comDisable or Enable the new Password Reveal Button feature in Windows 8 - windowsclub.com Unfortunately the version of Windows 10 I have installed beside me is the home edition as well, so I cannot access this, to verify, so let me know if that works for you.

  • From field doesn't show in web mail inbox

Okay, I've searched the preferences page and the FAQs. It's driving me crazy that when I access my web mail that all I see is the 'To' field and have to guess about who the emails are from. I'd insert a screenshot if I could because in all the pictures I've found online the 'From' field shows so I Really don't understand why it doesn't show up for me. Instead of 'From' I get 'To' which is pretty useless since all of the emails in my Inbox are to me. I suspect people aren't going to believe me so let me give further description- when I first log in and click on my mail I see the flagged column, the status column, the "To" column, the "Subject" column, the "Date" column, the attachment column and the action column. This is for my Inbox. Nowhere do I see the "From" column. Pretty useless. Very frustrating.
    Please help?
    Many thanks.

  • Why Mail doesn't show content of emails?

Since some days Apple Mail doesn't show always the content of an e-mail message. In the window at the right hand of the columns with folders and incoming mail and in the fullscreen mode only the headers (To, From, Subject) are visible, not the content (text, images, attachments). If there is an attachment, I can see that by clicking 'show in Quicklook'.
The problem started a couple of days ago. And sometimes Mail shows the content after receiving an e-mail, immediately after a first view no more.
Rebuilding the mailbox doesn't change this.
Thanks for your suggestions to solve this problem.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data. That means you know you can restore the Mail database, no matter what happens.
Triple-click the text on the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/Envelope Index
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens (command-V), then press return.
A Finder window will open with a file selected. Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have names that begin with "Envelope Index". Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is corrupt and that Mail has to quit. Click OK.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the file you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Apple Mail subject column

I just installed the Mac OS upgrade through Software Update, and now I cannot show the Subject column in Mail. I can sort by it; that option appears on the pop-up menu and the messages move around, but there is no choice in the menu to show the Subject column in the Mail window.
Does anyone have a solution or an explanation?

OK, never mind all of you who may have been running your brains on this. I found a useful post from earlier this year. It was a matter of entering (stumbling, actually) on the correct group of search terms.
And the answer was in the form of a Terminal command: defaults delete com.apple.mail TableColumns
I entered this after quitting Mail, then restarted Mail, and my Subject column was back.
And thank you, Ernie, for mentioning that it is a default choice and won't appear as a column option in the View menu. I won't worry that it's not there.

  • Subject line not showing in mail

When I receive mail from a colleague send to me from her Exchange account to my Exchange account and I read this account from my MacBook Pro Retina using Mail, the subject line does not show up. Instead it says: (no subject).
When I look into the details of the mail, I can see that there is a line 'Thread-Topic: the subject my colleague put into the subject line'.
So the subject is there, but Mail doesn't show it. I can't figure out why this happens or what I can do to stop it.
The mails in question only have the subject line filled and no further content (there just short messages).
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Ed

This is a recurring problem with Exchange servers. Sometimes it's fixed by rebuildiing the mailbox. Another possible fix is to disable the account in the Mail preferences dialog, then re-enable it. Back up all data before making any changes.

  • Firefox doesn't show headers on websites or mail options such as fonts, etc

Firefox is the only browser that I'm having these problems with. They are as follows:
In the compose e-mail block of my yahoo, it doesn't show the options for fonts, size of fonts, backgrounds, etc. It also won't let me change the color of the fonts. It just shows blank boxes. Not only can't I change things in individual e-mails that I compose, I can't change my e-mail options.
In the customize backgrounds and colors for my yahoo page, it doesn't let me change colors or themes.
In websites, it doesn't show the headers of the website, including name of website and selections. It's blank. The body of the website shows up. Just not the header.
Is there a way restore Firefox to it's original state? If so, how do I do this? Or do I need to uninstall it and reinstall it? I didn't do this when I first started using Firefox.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Windows Accessibility settings.

  • Mail 5.2 doesn't show html/attachments in Lion 10.7.3

I recently upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard.
The problem is that Mail version 5.2 (1257) doesn't show html content or attachments. Even Apple's own templates from the application itself doesn't show correctly.
I've made sure that the "show remote html content in the Preferences is checked.
I've also tried to rebuild the mailboxes without any changes. Html-content and pictures stil doesn't show.
    How can I fix this?
Is there a command for the Terminal that can fix this?
    MBP 15" 2.2 GHz (10.7.2) 4GB RAM

    Step 1
Mail ▹ Preferences ▹ Viewing ▹ Display remote images in HTML messages: check
    Step 2
If you still have the issue, back up all data before proceeding further. Whatever happens, you must be able to restore your system to the state it's in now.
    Quit Mail if it’s running.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy – do not type – the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    defaults delete com.apple.mail PreferPlainText
Quit Terminal. Launch Mail and test.
