Subject: DBConnection fails from 64Bit OS to 32Bit OS using Oracle 9iR2.

Hi, I have a problem connecting to Oracle Database in the following scenario. Anybody's help is very much appreciated.
Scenario:
1. I have two servers [Say A - with Windows server 2003 (x64 bit edition) and Say B - with Windows server 2003 (32 bit edition)]
2. Oracle 9iR2 (32bit) Database is installed on B.
3. Oracle 9iR2 (32bit) Client is installed on A.
4. I have an application (running as service) developed using C++ on A.
5. I use the oraOLEDB to connect to the database (9.2.0.1.0)
6. When the application is running in debug/release mode the connection gets established.
7. When the application is running in the service mode I always get the following error "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name"
8. I have verified the TNSNAMES.ORA file and the contents are valid.
9. Listerner is running fine on both the systems.
NOTE; I have to use only OLEDB. Please do not suggest me to use any other connection mechanism.
Do I miss something here?

Basically ORA-12154 means, service name can't be found in tnsnames.ora or this file can't be located at all. Are there multiple ORACLE_HOMEs on the machine ? Is the application based on OLEDB running in a different home , NOT in the client's ORACLE_HOME? You may set TNS_ADMIN, pointing to your tnsnames.ora, as global environment variable. So each application on the machine will know this location.
I'm sure this is not a problem 64bit versus 32bit.

Hi,
i have already created many heterogeneous dblinks from oracle 32bit to other 32bit DB, and in analogous way from oracle 64bit to other 64bit Db without any problem.
Now, I'm going crazy because i'm on oracle 11.1.0.6.0 - 64bit on windows 2003 server and i need to create a dblink to a 32bit mysql odbc.
I understand that:
i need oracle client 32bit and the mysql driver 32 bit.
in 11g the program is changed from hsodbc to dg4odbc. (PROGRAM=dg4odbc)
i created a DSN entry on 32bit odbc trough the command %windir%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe

but i get always the same error:

it seems that oracle is pointing to the 64 bit DSN...
The ORACLE_HOME in the listener.ora is (ORACLE_HOME=C:\app\BI\product\11.1.0\client_2) where is the 32 bit client.

You don't need a 32bit ODBC driver to connect to a 32bit MySQL nor a 64bit ODBC driver to connect to a 64bit MySQl database.
The ODBC driver depends on DG4ODBC. Using a 64bit DG4ODBC requires a 64bit ODBC driver, using a 32bit DG4ODBC requires a 32bit ODBC driver.
The 64bit ODBC driver is able to connect to a 32bit or 64bit foreign database - same is true for thr 32bit driver. It allows you to connect to a 32bit or 64bit foreign database.

Now to your issue:
DG4ODBC was never ported to 64bit WINDOWS and running a 32bit DG4ODBC on 64bit Widows was also not supported. Root cause was the mixture of the DSN and its lookup in the registry.
So instead of continuing to investigate into 11.1.0.6 please get the 64bit DG4ODBC 11.2 for Windows, install it on this box and use it with a 64bit ODBC driver from MySQL. -
Upgrade Error - DBConnect fails EC 00256

the upgrade from 4.6c to Ecc6 failed at step StartSap_Dual with following error
System start failed code - 2
- 2 the test rfc did not work
try to login in with the ddic user. this error shows up on the upgrade screen.
we are using
Windows 2000 sp3,oracle 9.02,kernel 700 patch 102
wen manually tried to connect using management console it gives the error DBConnect fails Ec 00256
The DB log mode is now changed to Archive log mode.\
Kindly help if this is a known issue

This is probably the problem. you have to specify the Oracle network service name of the database you want to upgrade.
SAPServiceDEV is an Windows account name under which the SAP System is started.
Service = DEV will probably do the job.

DBConnect return -100;
When I move my released program to another computer, DBConnect failed and return -100.
But the program run OK on the computer where I build.
The computer where I move the program to has installed MS Access 2003,Word 2003, Excel 2003.

Sir I bought a new hp envy 15 j049tx on 25 October 2013 and it stopped working on 29 october 2013.Whrn I opened the laptop a blue screen appears written that "Your pc ran into an error and we are restarting for you. The laptop restarts and the same process keeps going on.
I told the Hp customer support, they asked me to run hard drive and memory tests. Both hard drive and memory test came out PASSED(both quick and extensive tests). Then they ordered hp recovery discs. When i received it while running the 1st cd an error came with label REDUCER-copy file failed from D... to C.... They then sent a technician who said that the recovery cd are faulty. Its Been a month and the problem still persists. They have ordered a new set of recovery cd. I hope to receive them by 22.I am very much worried. Its windows 8,64 bits os. Please reply. Is it recovery cd problem? Please tell what to do?anyone found the fix for this?

Hello. I keep my iPhoto library (about 90GB) on an external HD and am trying to back it up to another external drive. Both are formatted Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled) and both check out when scanned with Disk Utility. Recently, backup has failed from the start due to error 36. Any ideas how to resolve? Also, what's the maximum recommended size for an iPhoto library file? Thx!
Since you can't drag the library to the other EHD for the backup see if you can duplicate it (if you have enough room on the drive) by selecting it and typing Command+d (duplicate).
If you do rebuild the library without a backup and it goes awry you won't lose your photos but you may lose your orgnaizational efforts. So try the following:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library in the location of your choosing based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
NOTE: Fix 2 above might be the method you might want to try first with iPLM creating the new library on your second EHD. If it works that would get your backup copy on the second EHD at the same time as repairing it. If it does'nt work then go back to Fix 1.

Am I the only one that has had every charging cable (for all of my iPhones and all of my iPads) fail? Very frustrating. I got used to quality products from Apple but seems the small stuff is being overlooked nowadays!
I have yet to have a cable for my iPad 3, iPad 4 or iPhone 5 fail. I have multiple cables for each device without any failures.

Laptop -> PC1 : Eror
It works when i use localhost or 127.0.0.1 and i can read my database without any problems if i install SQL server on my laptop. Know i install it to PC1 and uninstall on my laptop. When i change the name-pc by an ip-adress i get this error: Login failed.
The login is from untrusted domain and cannot be used with windows authentification. I did some research on multiple forums where they say about Local security policy(secpol.exe) but i don't have this file.
PC2-> PC3: work fine but i want to work with my laptop and i don't understand why it isn't working with my Laptop.
Can someone help me?

Yes, for the Windows Authentication to work you should be using the same Windows account and password.
Are you willing to create SQL logins inside SQL Server and allow your users to connect to SQL Server using SQL Authentication
instead of Windows Authentication? That could be a solution on a workgroup network.

I have a cloud service project with two roles (service and worker). In Visual Studio 2013 Update 4 when I choose "Publish..." from the "Solution Explorer", it opens "Microsoft Azure Activity Log" and quickly terminates.
Here the log:

What can I do to get it working?I have the same problem with our Azure project. Two web roles (service and worker). Just updated from SDK2.2 to SDK2.5 and Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 to Update 4. The main reason behind this was to move from log4net to WAD and in doing so, of course directly
move to the new diagnostics version.

What I found so far:
I deployed the Azure project from the same development environment to another Azure test service: Deployment
showed no errors and the service is running fine! So the problem is not with the source, the development environment, library dependencies etc.
Trying Azure cmdlets for PowerShell also work fine for the new service and fails for the production service with almost the same error message:

help me i cant install itunes on my windows 7 enterprise i try installing 32bit and it says that i need the 64bit but then in need the 32bit to use the 64bit please help
