Submit both XML & PDF files

Hello,
I've created a simple form and I would like to use a button to submit both the XML and PDF files. Is there such an option ? or any workaround?
currently the submit function allow to select XML or PDF but not both.
Any idea will be appriciated.
Thanks
Ami

My env is a trial jboss turnkey 8.2 installation.<br /><br />I have read through a lot in the forums about submit buttons with xdp format. I have tried to get this to work but in vain. I have a simple form with two fields and I configured a submit button.<br /><br />The url is set to mailto:[email protected]<br />The submit as is set to xdp<br />and then I choose options- Annotation,PDF and template.<br /><br />Interestingly I can get the button to work for me as long as I dont have the "pdf" option selected. The button only works when I have annotations and template selected. So this gives me everything in the resulting xdp except for the binary embedded pdf. I recall the last time I tried it, instead of the binary document, a pdf href location to the pdf was included instead. I need the embedded pdf to be included in the xdp which I believe shows up within the <chunk> tag. Why is my submit button not working with pdf? How can I get this to work to get my embedded pdf document. The reason I need this to work is to be able to remotely work with the xml dataset inside the xdp and then be able to get users to see the updated pdf using reader. Without the entire binary, reader cannot render the binary at a later time. Any help is very appreciated.

    Hello Osprey,
If you are using Windows, you have to right-click a .pdf file, then click on "open with", here you can choose with which program the PDF files will be automatically opened.
Another solution is to go in your control panel, then in "Default Programs", you'll be able to do the same. You can refer to [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-default-programs#1TC=windows-7 this article] .

  • Merge two Livecycle PDF files into one PDF?

I have a new requirement where I need to take two different PDF forms I'm producing from LiveCycle and merge them together into a single PDF.
I have heard that Adobe Acrobat cannot edit LiveCycle files, does anyone know if it is possible to merge two Livecycle PDFs together into a single file?

    Hello Clay,
This is not available in the standard SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe solution.
    What I can recommend is:
Step 1: retrive the data back from the PDF files using the getData functionality of the ADS.
Step 2: Render a new PDF file. The template of this new PDF should contain the template of both original PDF files.
This should work if both of the original PDF files were created by the SAP Systems ADS.

  • Correlate XML and PDF file/mail

Following ugly requirement: PI receives XMLfiles and mails with PDF attachment. The XML contains the plain invoice data, the PDF is the signed invoice. PI sends both types as files to the customer. But the customer wants that files which belong together (see below) are sent within a time interval of max. 6 hours.
Problem is, the PDF is signed by an external partner which may need longer than those 6 hours. And the supplier is not able to hold back the corresposing XML files.
I fear the only way to solve it is by integration process (?)
The XML has a file reference tag, which corresponds to the mail attachment name, so in theory, we know what fits together. But the PDF is a binary message, so how to definine a correlation definition on it ? Do I need to map the PDF into an own XML structure, e.g. some header tag which contains the attachment name, and a base64 tag which contains the PDF ? But then I would later have to recreate the binary PDF, after the 2 messages are correlated. Is that possible in the process ? Can I map message 2 again when it leaves the process ?
We are on PI 7.0, soon 7.1

Additional info: I just implemented the solution with 2 receiver interfaces. And write both messages with file reveiver channels, one of them uses the PayloadSwapBean. Works great. The solution is better than the zip option, because now I can even set the filename as I want:
    1. for the XML file, I can just use the adapter specific attribute filename (= use the name of the original XMLfile)
    2. for the PDF file, this does not work without additional change because it was read as attachment with the XML file, and so gives the name of the XML file, and the original PDF filename is not in the PI message anymore. But I just add a Java mapping in the routing of the PDF file, and set the needed filename value in dynamic configuration (read the value, remove .xml and append .pdf)

  • Adding a DateTime stamp to XML data file on PDF Form

I have a PDF form which is submitting data via email.
I am not requiring a signature.
Along with the data collected on the form, I'd like the XML data file sent to include a date/time stamp. Roughly, this could be when the "Submit" button was selected.
I have been able to get the current date/time to display, on the form. However, I cannot get the value displayed on the form to be sent in the dataset.

I got this to work using the following steps:
    1) create a field (TextField1 in the data example below) on the form for the data/time (this could be a hidden field, if you want). Mine is set to "Calculated-Read Only"
    2) Populate it in its calculate script using:
    this.rawValue = xfa.timeStamp;
(I could have scripted it to set its value in the Submit button, so the date & time are determined when the button is clicked, instead of when the form is opened).
    3) Make sure to set the field's binding to "normal" instead of "none" - this ensures that the field's value is part of the submitted XML data file. This is the key step.
    When I click the email submit button, I get the following XML Data;
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <form1
    ><TextField1
    >2008-03-03T16:01:59Z</TextField1
    ><TextField2
    >some text</TextField2
    ></form1

  • Send as a pdf file rather than xml

I created an order form in live cycle 7 and when I email the form it opens
properly and works but when the recipient emails it back clicking on the
submit email form it returns it to me in xml format. Is there anyway of
creating a form that the recipient can email it back as a PDF file by
clicking a submit button on the form?
thanks in advance for any advice.

I have the same issue since yesterday, hope someone can answer this for us. Check this out:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b7247f
    Also, Help said this:
When you create a button and set its Control Type to Submit, the Submit tab appears in the Object palette. It displays several options specific to formatting buttons that submit data.
    Submit to URL
    Submit As
    XML Data Package (XDP)
    PDF
    ....and so on
However, that "Submit tab" mentioned above which will give as the option to do what we want is missing and I could not find how to put it under Object Pallete.

  • Import XML data to textfields in a PDF file

Can I use LiveCycle Designer 8.2 to auto populate textfields in a PDF-file with data from a XML-file when the user opens the PDF-file? If so, how will I do it? Is there any guide?
It works fine in the Livecycle Designer preview but when I open the PDF-file all textfields are empty. It also works fine if I import data from a OLEDB-connection.

I'm looking for a solution for the same thing. I have a pdf form with fields bound to an xml file, but Acrobat will only import the data manually (Forms / Manage Form Data / Import Data) and Reader doesn't work at all.
Tech Support says that when in Livecycle, you're working in an xml environment, so the 'Preview PDF' works. Acrobat and Reader aren't xml environments, so they won't display the data.
What we need is a javascript programmer who can figure this out. Possibly using the remerge function. Anyone???

  • Merging randomly-named XML data file on client-side with pdf designed in Livecycle 7.0 (and addition

Okay, as a heads up I work for a financial institution and we are converting our legacy "jetforms" to pdf format. I have in my staff for the project, 2 code developers and myself- a form designer. We have currently spent 2 months in trial and error attempting to resolve this problem, please let us know anything you can have. All client-side (internal) machines are running Windows XP and Adobe Reader 7.0.7
The software we use as a financial institution allows our users to export a customer's data file onto their machine which is then renamed to include the member's account number and first and last name for our staff to determine which data file they need more accurately. In legacy jetforms, we have developed a program that pushes the data from the customers file that they select, into the jetform that they want to open and the matching fields in the data file fill in the fields of the jetform. Clean and simple.
Now, i have hit nothing but frustration when attempting to perform the same process with pdfs using a form designed in livecycle designer 7. First, i see no obvious command for opening a pdf and importing a data file using a command line, like pdfmerge or something of the sort in which an xml data file can be specified and a pdf can be specified. I saw something like it using an fdf format and attempted to do this but apparently reader cannot import the data into the pdf that was designed adobe livecycle 7. All i have been seeing is database connections and using javascript inside the form to populate fields based on these database connections, etc. etc. or doing a manual file>import data>etc. which we don't want to have our staff do. We do not have reader extensions enabled, simply because i cannot get an adobe representative to call me and discuss pricing nor see any estimated pricing chart around. I don't know if reader extensions are necessary for this or not but i'm becoming very very frustrated with it.
We don't want a complex server-side data connection binding with dynamic input. No, we just want it where our developers can say "if this data file is selected, and this pdf form is selected run this command" which would be a simple pdfmerge type solution. Is this possible or do i need to stay with jetforms until our software the billion dollar financial institution uses does form building inside its own application? I don't want to fight about who is better, what version to use, etc. I just want the straight up honest truth. If you need to know the pricing that the reader extensions would have to go by, assume there will be 500 client computers that will need to use it.

From your post it sounds like you are Central Pro (a product for which I am by no means an expert), but you say you want to upgrade to a newer product from your "legacy" one. Is there a reason for this? Have your requirements change so that it no longer fits them? Central is still in the current Adobe roster and as far as I know there is no plans to get rid of it any time soon, so if it does everything you want I don't see why you would want to change.
There is no product in the LiveCycle suite that merges xml data into a form from the command line. LiveCycle (with the exception of Designer) is a suite of server products, so the closest you would come is LiveCycle Forms (merge the xml and create a fillable PDF) or LiveCycle Print (merge the xml and print the form).
    Hope this helps somewhat.

  • Email submit button pdf file

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, Adobe Reader X, and LiveCycle Designer.
I have a pdf file that I would like to be sent back to me in pdf format when the submit button is clicked. I created the button in LiveCycle Designer, and Extended features to adobe Reader. I am able to have a outloook message pop up with the PDF attached when using the Adobe Acrobate Pro, but not the Adobe Reader. Also, I had to change settings to allow all websites in Trust Manager under the Preferences before the outlook message would open up. Can anyone help me get the submit button to work in Adobe Reader?

Here's how mine works, I put in the submit button, and in the submit dialogue tab I type in "mailto:" in the URL address and select the "pdf" from the drop down menu under "submit as". Then save it as either a static or dynamic pdf, Reader enable it and open it in Adobe Reader. Now when you click your submit button, an email should open up ready to be addressed where ever you want to mail it, with your pdf as an attachement.
    I hope this helps.
