Submit button issue in Acrobat 9 Pro

I have created a form in acrobat 9 pro. I have added a submit button and set the action to mailto:(my email address). I have uploaded my form to my website but the submit button is not working. I have followed the instructions within your tutorials but apparently I'm missing something. You can view the form at this url: http://preservationkentucky.org/pdfs/2012SessionProposal-Gallery.pdf

  • Submit button issue in Acrobat 8 Professional/LifeCycle Designer

I am using Acrobat 8 Professional and LifeCycle Designer 8.0 on a PC with XP Pro. I first made forms using the default email submit button and had an XML data file submitted.
I'm now making the forms to submit as a pdf file rather than an XML file. I selected a regular button rather than the email submit button provided and made it a submit button to be submitted as a pdf.
The forms are being sent as pdf files attached to emails using Outlook. The issue is that every computer has a different "reaction" to this submit button. My computer (PC), when I tested the forms, everything was fine - Outlook opened and I was able to submit the file. On another PC in my office, when she clicked the submit button, nothing happened at all. On a PC at home, I got an error message "this operation is not permitted." And someone on a Macintosh did not even get a submit button showing up on the pdf.
We need to be able to send these files out so that everyone can complete them easily. I would appreciate any ideas on how to make the submit button so that it works on all platforms and computers.
    Thank you so much,
    Marcy

Thank you to you both for your suggestions.
Actually, Bill, this will not be a controlled environment at all. We want to be able to email forms to all of the 80 parents in the school, and have the parents complete them as pdf's and submit the information back to us as a complete pdf form. This opens up the potential for 80 different computers/ISPs/environments. And of course, my supervisor wants it seamless and easy with no glitches for all 80!! So as you can see, I have my challenge with this project.

  • Submit Email PDF in Acrobat X Pro / LiveCycle ES2

I'm pulling out my hair trying to get this form I created to email back the filled out pdf. I've spent a couple of days searching like crazy trying to figure out how to fix this issue.
I created a fillable pdf form using LiveCycle ES2. I created the button to submit via email. In the submit to URL field I have: mailto:[email protected] The Submit As: PDF. ( we do not need a subject line) I saved the document, opened it up in Acrobat X Pro, went to File, Save As, Reader Extended PDF, Enable Additional Features, clicked Save to Enable Usage Rights for Reader. (that's what every other search has said to do)
So, I send the form via email attachment to a co-worker to test it out. We fill out the form, click the Submit button... and nothing happens... again. The prompt asking which email client to use pops up, but that's it. I'm not sure what else to do. Can someone help please?!?!?!?!?!?

We'll need more information, such as OS, version of Acrobat/Reader is being used, what email client is being used, etc. Email is generally unreliable and not secure, adn whether is works seamlessly depends on whether the client machine is set up correctly.
Submitting to a web server is a more reliable approach that can be made secure relatively easily.

  • Email submit Button issues on form

I am having an issue with attempting to generate email with a button in my form.  I had created one some time ago (using Acrobat PRO 9-Live Cycle) and the button generating email to a specific person seemed to be functioning properly.  I now had a person tell me that the usual person was not receiving his email.  When taking a closer look (I am now using Acrobat X) at the same form, the email function worked appropriately for me and went to the appropriate person.
Now, however, when  I took that same form into designer to make some additions and continue looking at the button, I wrote out a new version of the form and the very same button does not function the same way.  Previously, a pop-up would appear and you could choose your normal e-mail or internet email and then, when choosing your normal method of email, a new email message would appear(which you could edit) and it would be directed to the person that was specified on your button properties SUBMIT tab as the SUBMIT TO URL.
Now when I look at my new form at the same button(generated from the original), I can't even locate a SUBMIT tab for the same exact button.  What happens when I click it is a pop-up that says it is sending the form to a totally different e-mail address (that I experimented with at some time in the past.   When I look at all the event scripts associated with that button, I now see a java script associated with it that refers to this other email.  Even when I change this email inside the code, the button still comes up with a pop-up that announces it will be sent to the original address (which I changed in the script).
I tried to creat a brand new "email submit" button using that new object type, but it is still defaulting to that erroneous address and I am not seeing where to change it?
I know there must be some behnd the scenes goings on that I just am not familiar with.......Would this email be stored elsewhere?....have the tabs changed for buttons, but then why can I still see that property on my original form?.......is there a better approach?.......help?!!!
May or not be related.....I also added a print button and that does not function either, but no pop-up or warning there. I did not have one on this form previously.
    Thanks in advance!

I discovered George Johnson's post on changing identity at EDIT->PREF->ID->EMAIL ADDRESS which answered one of my questions, but I still not sure about the other behaviours that I mentioned.

  • Email Submit button issue after distrbution

I am trying to distribute and collect forms at work using the email submit button. I am able to successfully submit the form when in preview mode, however something happens when I use the distribute function.  I distributed the email to my office as a test and when they click Submit they get a Check Names window that says: Microsoft Outlook does not recognize "1. Double-click the attachment."
I also attempted to use my home computer (where I do not have Outlook) to submit the email and had no problems submitting (using gmail).
What is going on, and how do I fix it?

I didn't so much resolve the issue, as found a way around it. Since the problem only arose when using the email distribute button, I just didn't use it and emailed the survey as an attachment through outlook.
I suspect the problem comes from upgrading Adobe Acrobat, but no one seems to know.

  • Font Issue in Acrobat 9 pro and X pro

Fonts are not displaying properly after selecting the text with Touc-up tool in Acrobat 9 pro and X pro how to solve this issue?

When Acrobat X installs it will remove an Acrobat 9 install.
Suggest you Deactivate then uninstall Acrobat 9 before installing Acrobat X.
May want to root about to locate that Acrobat 9 CD first.
As the preponderance of resources in Adobe's "Education" space deal with use of Acrobat X you may be better off in the long run by working out of and learning "X".

  • Email submit button issue

    Hi Guys,
I have designed few forms recently and i am fairly new to livecyle, I have actually 2 issues, bit odd and i have tried to be as much discriptive as i can.
email submit button on all my forms works but it sends email to one perticular address and not to one that i programmed it to.
I.e. Form 1 - email to  [email protected] - when i press submit button it will send email to [email protected]
Form 2 - email to [email protected] - when i press submit button it will send email to [email protected]
Form 3 - email to [email protected] - when submit button is pressed it sends email to [email protected]
Now when i use this button on actual form it sends email to right addresse but it is obviously in XML format and wouldnt work for us, when i use button on distributed copy of the form (created via distribute form button) it sends email to wrong addresse in PDF formate (which is the formate we like).
Also whatever i put in Email Subject box - it will always put "submitting completed form" in the email subject line.
Not sure if it makes any different but we use outlook and i have tried this from several pcs.
I think i have cheked and rechecked everything and can't fix it, any help would be great.
Process i use to create this button is - Insert >standard>email submit, i will then put desired email address and email subject in relevant fields under Object pellette.
    Thanks,
    H

There are two ways to set the adress in LiveCycle I know:
1st is with the button itself, second is with Javascript/Formcalc.
If I got you right and you have 3 different forms you could search for the [email protected] adress in the xml's and exchange it there or check out where the form gains the mail adress from. It's the easiest method to get rid of something you are not that sure where it is located in the form but know what it does ;D . (I had some similar problem since I overtook forms of someone else.)
Did you check this thread out? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/462681?tstart=0
Paul gave an example there how to deal with the various things on mail buttons.
Edit: PS: On which event did you script it? Normally you can't script on the mail button itself so you need a fake button like Paul said.
I'm also not good with Reader Extensions, since I can't experiment with those sry

  • Email Submit button works in Acrobat but not Reader

I have a form with an email submit button.  When those who have Adobe Reader click on the Submit button, nothing happens.  For the users with Acrobat, the submit button works as designed. The users all have the latest version of Reader, Java and Flash.  When the Acrobat users click the button a box appears asking them to select Desktop or Internet email.  Once they make a selection, the form is sent.  When the Reader users click the button nothing happens.  I'm sure there must be a setting somewhere that I need to adjust.  Can you help me?

    Hi Susan,
I appreciate we have meandered through this, but bear with us...
Here is a screen shot of a regular button set up to return the completed form as a PDF.
Now if you deploy this form WITHOUT Reader Enabling the form, then users with Reader will see this warning:
However before you deploy the form open it in Acrobat and go to the Advanced menu (in version 9) and select "Extend features in Acrobat Reader" and save the form with an amended name. Then send this new "Reader extended" form out to the users with Reader and they will be able to return the completed PDF.
Without seeing the actual form it is difficult to work out how the submit button is set up.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • I'm having issues installing Acrobat X Pro, Can I get some help?

Hello, I read the thread Acrobat X Pro Installer Rolls Back in Windows 7 64-bit
And I need help applying the solution. I don't know how to run the command.
I have an acrobat X Pro CD with a serial number key to install the program but the program doesn't install and it rolls back all the time.
Can someone help me with this? I'm trying to install on a windows 7 pro laptop.
    Thanks

Hello Aadesh, thank you for getting back to me to help me with this issue. I don't get an error message during the installation process. What happens is that the installation stops in the last seconds and it says rolling back. And on the next window it says something like "installation wizard was interrupted and couldn't finish installing"
I tried downloading Acrobat from the link you provided and same thing happens.
I want to try to apply the solution posted on this thread Acrobat X Pro Installer Rolls Back in Windows 7 64-bit

  • Submit Button Issues

I have created a form in InfoPath and am using SharePoint as the method of users entering their inquiries.
Whenever I click the "submit" button, nothing occurs. I have to click it again for the data connections to run. For some reason, the submit button only works when clicked twice.
I am using a standard button with no conditions, so the actions run as soon as the button is clicked.
I have the following actions being run upon click:
1- Submit using a data connection (Main data connection)
    2- Switch view to E-mail (a view I created)
    3- Submit using a data connection (E-mail)
4- Close this form: no prompt
There are no validation or formatting rules on this button. I am not sure why it has to be clicked twice. Does anybody have any ideas? I have searched google a bit and haven't found much.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that the submit button only works when clicked twice.
If the form has the rich text box control, you need to go to the rich text box properties | browser forms tab | and change the post back settings to Never.

  • Issue in Acrobat 9 Pro in Mac OS X

I have trouble with running Acrobat 9 pro in Mac.
While trying to open the application, just opens the menu bar and stops responding within seconds. Tried with various files but make no difference.
I have administrator privilege in the system.
    Distiller works fine.
    Can anybody sort this out.

I have the same problems when using an account where the home directory is on a fileserver. As soon as it's a local account everything works fine. Adobe Reader 9 has the same problem.

  • Windows 7 / Email Submit Buttons Issues

Since Windows 7 has been released, none of my previous forms with Email Submit Buttons work.  Does anyone have any solutions or suggestions?

    Hi Pete,
you can buy Snow Leopard for about USD 29 but you don't have to install OSX Snow Leopard in order to install the updated BootCamp Drivers from it.
Since the BootCamp Drivers are on a seperate 'partition' on the OSX DVD (better said the OSX DVD is an OSX/Windows-hybrid disc) you can just install the BootCamp Drivers from it.

  • ADF table submit button issue

    Hi,
Im using adf 11g R1. I have a standard crud page.. with a read-only table and a form..
I have a long query on the VO which contains sub-selects
when I edit a record.. then hit the Submit button.. the edited field will obviously update on the table..
however, I have a field/attribute that is a sub-select, when I edit that field in the form and hit the Submit button.. It doesnt update its field on the table.. rather I have to hit the Commit button and refresh the table so that I can view what I change from the table..
    ex.
    -Name: John
    -change to > Name: JohnP
    -press submit
-the field is still John on the table
    -press commit
    -refresh table
-the field is now JohnP on the table
    Thanks!

    Hi,
the problem is that the form updates the underlying entity, which means that the change is kept local in ADF BC (or whatever persistence layer you use). Since a read only query always hits teh database, it cannot see what hasn't been committed to it. So what you see is what you build, or in other words: works as designed by you. If you like to change this, then you need to use a VO that is based on an entity and that is used for the form and the table

  • Win 7 compatability issues with Acrobat 9 Pro

I'm using Win 7 Pro 64 bit OS, Acro 9 Pro, Reader 9, and Live Cycle ES 8.2 (came bundled with Pro). All appear to be functioning. My MUA is Thunderbird 5.0.
My issue is the mailing of a simple form built in LC that has a button set as a submit control type with the submit URL set to mailto:[email protected] Submit  as xml data with utf-8 encoding. There are also a coupla text fields for elements in the xml.
I fill it in and click the button but no mail comes to my MUA. There's a dialog asking if my mailer is desktop or browser & I select desktop.
Also I close LC, open the form in Acrobat and "Extend features". I do the acutal filling in & emailing in Reader 9.
This used to work on XP, so I am wondering if there is a compatabilty issue here
    A) anyone else have similar experiences?
    TIA
    Tim

I haven't run into the problem. However, with a 64-bit system you will likely need to update Acrobat. It is not a good idea to have Reader 9 also installed and it would generally be recommended that it be uninstalled. However, you will probably have to run a repair on Acrobat after the uninstall. Then do an update, AA 9 is currently at AA 9.4.5. I believe you have to have something like AA 9.1 or 9.2 for a 64 bit system, but that may be for AA 8 and not AA 9.
Some changes to the mail and PDF creation were made to AA9 relative to AA8, but Acrobat typically requires the use of MAPI for mail interaction. It may be that your mail package is not set up as a MAPI client. If so, you may need to activate the MAP feature that allows the kind of interaction you are asking about.

  • Font Issues in Acrobat X pro

    Hi All,
A couple of months ago we have upgraded our Acrobat applications to 9 pro and X pro before that we had used Acrobat 7&8 which is having no problem. Since we upgraded to higher versions we have been facing so many font related issues/complaints. Particularly while using TouchUp tool in pdf document so many font error messages are appeared, In some case followed that error alerts some text/character styles has changed (for example text/characters has changed from uppercase style to lower case style). And the compare documents reports also not capturing the changes/modifications exactly as Acrobat 7&8 did. Can you please give us a good suggestion regarding these issues because these issues been big headaches to us. Also please let us know the very latest versions of Acrobat will resolve this issues?
I am expecting your valuable help/support, Please let me know you need any other inputs or clarification on this?
    Thanks!

Are the fonts embedded? If so, are they subset or the full font? Are the fonts on your system?
It may be that you have updated Acrobat at the same time as other software. Note that MS changed the default font that they use in OFFICE and this may be part of the issue. Maybe these questions will at least give you a starting point for finding the problem. Also, you should be sure to update the new versions and not settle for simply the -.0 versions.
