Submit Button to submit xml data of form to a server folder

I have Livecycle ES2 vs 9 on Windows 7.
I have created a form that our users will fill out in adobe reader. I would like them to be able to hit the submit button and it send the xml data to a specified folder on our server.
I created a submit button from from the generic "button", chose to use as a "submit" control type, then entered the servers url as http://<my server name>:<Open Port>/<Folder name on the server>/
I chose to submit as XML data
When I test the button, a box willl pop up saying "Preparing for submit..." then immediatley changes to "Receiving Data".
The problem is that the box freezes on "receiving Data" but I do not need to receive data, I just need to dump the xml data to the folder on my server.
I have used a variety of urls with and without the port#, or without the http: but with backslashes but get the error "An error occurred during the submit process. There was a problem connecting to the server." I feel the latest URL with the port# is at least closer by trying to communicate with the server.
Not sure what I am missing but I have seen in other forums where some have used PHP code or a servlet but I have no experience with either and the forums did not cover the scripting and where it needs to be placed.
Can someone help me?

As far as I know you canit simply write a file to the server using HTTP protocol. If your server was set up as an FTP server you coudl use the FTP protocol (but Acrobat does not support that). You can post the file to a server program (as you mentioned a servlet or JSP or whatever your server supports) and it can in turn write it to your server location.

Should this plan work? Should I be able to have users use the HTTP Submit button to post their data right to my IIS web server or is there some Adobe server I need to buy for this simple form? Also, I noticed that when I configure a standard button and set the Control Type to "Submit", there is an option on the Submit Tab to change the Submit As setting to "PDF". Does this mean that my users can fill out my form with Acrobat Reader and HTTP Submit the form to my web server as a PDF complete with their data? If not that's fine, I would be sufficiently happy if the users could post their XML files to the web server so I can open them in the form with Acrobat Professional.
I am lost and would appreciate any good feedback.

I think the problem may be missing what "submit" means. Submitting a
PDF form, like submitting an HTML form, sends information to a web
program or script, like an ASP, a CGI or a PHP. It does not just "save
to the server", which seems to be what you are trying to do.
Do you have the LiveCycle Form Manager product? If not I recommend the
LiveCycle Designer forum: more folk there to help.

I want to have a pdf fillable form opened on a link.Once user has entered data, the user clicks a button(or some action to invoke saving). At this point I want the filled pdf file to be saved on a certain directory.
How can save a filled pdf form in pdf format on a certain directory?
Is it possible to dynamically give the final pdf a name so that it doesnt overwrite everytime it saves the file?

Submit button doesn't work after moving form to another parent container

I'm re-arranging the page using jquery. When I moved a div or table containing a form to another div, the submit button doesn't work anymore. Using the emulation mode under the Inspect Element feature of IE, the same code works for IE9 but not under IE10
and up.
Any ideas?

When you distribute a form, it replaces the email address that you've set up in a submit button with the email address you have specified in "Edit > Preferences > Identity > Email Address". So before you initiate the Distribute Form process, change the email address there to the one you want to use.
It is a ridiculous solution, because it means I have to make the identity of my personal copy of Acrobat the email address of someone else or some other department when I make the form, but whatever -- at least the form sends now.

Submit Button to Submit Form From Browser

I have created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro and uploaded it to my website. On my website, all the functions are working except for the Sumbit Button.
I know that I can change the address in the properties to mailto:[email protected] but when someone submits the button when the address is mailto:emailaddress.abc.com, it prompts a mail program (Microsoft Outlook, iMail, etc), and I DON'T want this. I want to be able to Submit this form without prompting a mail app on the user's end (Microsoft Outlook, iMail, etc). I want the form to send right from the browser to my email address (the user does not have to save the filled form and email it to me...they just click the submit button and it arrives to my email).
I tried changing the email to mail:emailaddress.abc.com instead of mailto:emailaddress.abc.com but when I uploaded the form to my website, nothing happens when they click the submit button.
I would also like the form to notify the user that the form has sent so that they do not send it multiple times or be confused if it sent or not.

Pardon me if this is a really stupid question, but what do you mean by "create a web form"? Is my fillable form that is uploaded to my site (in PDF format) not a web form already? Or do you mean create a form that is directly embedded into the website? What would I have to do to convert my already-created fillable form into a web form?
Would I have to have some server-side scripting in PHP, ASP, etc. to plug into the website server in order for the email submission to work?
Again, please excuse my novice understanding of how this works.

Submit Button doesn't response in Interactive Form

    I'm trying to implement a simple interactive form which is embeded in a abap webdynpro program.
    I've set the interactive form properties as following:
    displayType: native
    enabled: X
    onSubmit: CLICK
    and there has been a action "CLICK" with event handler and corresponding method implemented.
    For the interactive form i have drag and drop a submit button for webdynproAciveX group, and doens't change anything for this button. I check the "*click" of this button and it is run at Client.
    When I run this webdynpro program, the button is there, if i move my mouse onto this button, the mouse will change to hand shape. But if i click this button, it doesn't look like it has been really pushed down and up, I also tried the external debug of the OnClick method, I cannot get into the debug either.
    Do you have any idea what might be the problem?

When you are in the transaction SFP , then in the SAP tool bar you'll find the "Utilities" Menu bar, there you will be able to find the "Insert WebDynpro Script", when you click on this you'll in the Form in Heirarchy Pallete under the Variables you can see a script Object named "ContainerFoundation_JS" is being inserted. And Other Important thing is in the Properties tab of the SFP Transaction there select the Layout type as "ZCI Layout".
And when you insert the Submit button from the Library Pallete under "WebDynpro Native", then you'll find the below code in the Script Editor

XML data from Form?!?!

I've used LD8.0 to create a feedback form for my customers (it's at http://www.raven-multimedia.com/Feedback.pdf for reference). The first time I created it it was fairly large (1.4MB) and when a user clicked the submit-by-email button the data file attached to the message was a very small XML file {which I had no problem importing into my form to get the results}.
In fiddling with the form to try to make the file online smaller I've done SOMETHING which has resulted in a smaller form (now about 590kb), but when submitted by email the
entire form
is attached in PDF format!
How do I (or is there any way to...) keep the form itself SMALL and make sure that the data file sent to me is XML (thus small) too?!?!
I'm also interested in making the form as compatible as possible, which means an earlier version of Acrobat, but again run up against the problem that earlier version seems to mean larger file size.
Any and all help will be appreciated!

PS- Oh, hey, can anyone tell me why I can't import Text data to my form?!?!

He that can have patience can have what he will.
The size of the image you embedded is overkill!
Try resizing the original image to about 100*120 px (not sure about the exact size). Remove the original image, embed the resized one. This way you may save another 400 KBytes. In the image's 'draw'-tab select 'use original size'.
Also, do not save the image as jpg but gif. You don't need to use jpg as the image does not feature lots of different colors. That one may save you another... 30 KBytes at least.
You want to send XML data? Follow these steps
Sending complete PDF on eMail-submit but instead of 'PDF', select 'XML' in the options.

Problems importing XML data into form (Acrobat 8 Pro)

I created a form in Designer with an email submit button, and now I am receiving XML files by email. I'd like to import these back into the form. But when I open the form and select "import data," I get the following message:
"This document restricts some Acrobat features to allow for extended eatures in Adobe Reader. To create a copy of the document that is not restricted (and has no extended features in Adobe Reader), click Save a Copy."
Whether I save it or click cancel, afterwards "import data" is no longer an option. The same thing happens if I try to open the form again in Designer.
I assume that this is related to having enabled usage rights in Adobe Reader (necessary because the email submit button only works for people who use Microsoft Outlook -- what's up with that?). But dis-enabling these rights for the form doesn't change anything.
All help appreciated! I'm a novice, so please make it simple.

If I click "save a copy," then it opens a dialogue box for this. I've been saving this copy under the same name but in a different folder (so as not to screw up my original).
After saving the file, the "import data" option is no longer available for selection. (Nor is the "Edit Form in Designer" option).
If I close this and open the newly saved file, then it does give me an "import data" option. But when I try to import an XML file, I always get this error:
"Xml parsing error: not well-formed (invalid token)(error code 4), line 1, column 5 of file [file path and name]"
Open for suggestions.

Please give me a solution for server connection issue. I am new to the adobe live cycle designer ES4.
I created a web form use of adobe live cycle es4 v.11.0 to retrieve the data from web service method. So, I created the WSDL type data connection in data view menu to invoke the .asmx?wsdl service and connection is established successfully. Then, I dragged and drop a button from object library window to invoke the service method and changed the type as submit button. In the submit button URL, I given the web service url as eg. http://<localhost>:<port>/Web_serive.asmx?wsdl. Finally, I saved it has a PDF file.
When I click the submit button, a pop up window is openning as 'preparing for submit..' and 'Receving data..' and finally, it shows a pop up error message as 'An error occured during the submit process. There was a problem connecting to the server'. I tried all possiblities and if any bad english grammer, sorry for that.
Please give me a proper solution for this issue.

After trying these suggested actions several times success has not been reached.
I understand you are getting unable to connect to server error message on your printer. I would first unplug router and printer for about 1 minute. I would plug router up first then printer. I would then try to enable web services. If not successful and you get same error message. I would follow these steps.
1. Obtain your printer's IP address
a. This can be done by pressing the wireless icon on printer.
2. Enter the printer's IP address in a browser.
3. Select the network tab at the top of the page.
4. On the left select networking.
5. Select Network Address (IP)
6. Select Manual DNS Server
a. Manual Preferred DNS should read 8.8.8.8
b. Alternate DNS Server should read. 8.8.4.4
7. Select apply you might get a warning just select okay.
8. Try again to access ePrint.
Let me know how it goes.
I am able to print wirelessly to the printer, print through eprint, scan, and copy things. The only thing that is not working is the printer itself connecting to the hpeprintcenter.com.

Trying to bind XML data and form fields

I have a fairly simple PDF - and I am trying to bind XML data to he form fields.
In the designer I can bring up the data connection and
select Global - for the binding method - and as I understand it - this will link Form Fields and XML data fields with the same name - (sounds logical to me)
but all that happens is :
I see the name of the field in the form field rahter than seeing the actual data
should I select : None as the binding or normal ....
but Normal doesnt show Anything - even after i select it .
I can't quite seem to make this work -
Any help here would be appreciated

Tidy xml: clean xml data source form and characters

Hi,
the xml data set that I'd like to display with spry includes many special characters such as < and >, which are also used by xml to separate the individual data elements.
How can I replace those when the data are read, so that the data display correctly on my webpage. Currently any data set that has < or > characters is truncated.
I tried a replace function, but that did not work

thanks for your fast reply.
The xml dataset is generated by Endnote, which is a database program
to organize scientific citations and which has unfortunately only very
limited xml functionality.

Submit button to submit one of three values (the one thats filled in)?

I've got a table I wan't to display a subset of data from.
The data displayed is decided by one of three different user inputs.
The user can either enter an employee-ID (a column in the table) in a textfield and get all the rows with empID=[chosen empID] or
The date the resulting rows were last updated (a column in the table) in a datepicker [update_time] = chosen date or
The reportperiod (also a column in the table) in a drop down list [report_period] = chosen report period.
What is the best way to do this so that the query is only based on one of them?
I'm guessing maybe I should clear the other two when one is set by the user and somehow check which one contains data for the select-clause when the "search" button is pressed...
I guess I could have a button for each of them but that wouldn't look very nice...
I'm not sure about how to do this and maybe there is an easier way (user interface-wise)?

Okay, here is a simple example - once you have this working, you can enhance the feel with JS if you want.
Create your three items.
Create a button that submits the page as 'GO' (just a simple branch to the same page).
Create a page level validation that is conditional on the request value = GO that verifies that only one option is selected (if you want - why can't they select more that one?)
Create a report region with you query in with the display conditional on PL/SQL expression something like this

Send PDF form to FTP server folder

I am not sure if this is possible, but one of my clients wants it, so I'm checking. They have a PDF form set up that currently sends the attachment via the user's email program. My client doesn't like that. So they want it to when a user fills out the PDF and submits it, the filled out PDF is sent to an FTP folder they can access. Is it possible to send a PDF to a specified FTP folder? If so, what all would be needed?

Not possible. You can submit to a web server, which can then save the file somewhere, but this would involve some programming.

Exporting pdf form data to a web server via Submit Button

I am working on a project where a pdf form is dynamically filled by user information. So, when the user click Print Application on the web, it will create a pdf with form data and download to the user computer.
After that, users will have to add more data (since not all user data is captured). Then, after that I'll want user to hit the Submit button so that the filled pdf form is exported as an xml file to a folder on the web server.
I've been looking at the forum. There is a solution where I add a submit button on the form and add a submit form action with the link to localhost since I'm trying to test it out on my local server. But I keep getting the security certificate exception. I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0.0. , Max OS x and Firefox. My question is that is there a way for user to just click submit button and the pdf is exported as xml to the server? Does it require additional scripting language?
