Submit button to trigger mail sending

my requiredment is in interactive form.. i have some fields to be filled by end user at their local machines..
and then a submit button is there, which when clicked will trigger a new mail (say an new mail window of outlook express will open with this pdf attached to a particular receiver name by default..
can some body tell me what script i have to write (in formcalc/javascript) for this and  in which event of the submit button i should write the script

Another thing which I found and you can try is :
1. Create a regular button.
2. In the Object palette, set the Control Type to Submit.
3. Go to the Submit tab. Select Submit Format as PDF.
4. In the Submit to URL box, type the submit email address preceded by mailto: tag
    For example: mailto:[email protected]
Please note that in order to submit a PDF, either :
- your end users must have Acrobat installed; or
- you must pay Adobe for a Reader Extensions license for your form.
If you don't do this, your button won't work.

  • Trigger mail(sending mail to respective person)when budget is release in PS

    Dear Sir,
I want to trigger mail ( sending mail to respective person ) when budget is release in PS.
    Please help for following :
    Option 1 : User exit
    Option 2: Workflow.
    Regards
    Vinu

    Hi Vinod,
You can acheive this using a Workflow. What you need to do is set an user status as Rbud-release budget, and when ever you project is set to this status a workflow will trigger to the concerned aggest assigned to workflow task. Here you can provide a user decision as 1. Approve 2. Reject. When ever workflow triggers, approver can see in his inbox the project budget in Cj30 by clicking object link to cj30 and if he feels it is ok then he can click Approve button this will take him to CJ32 screen where he can release the budget. IF the user feels Budget need to be revised then he will click reject this will send an email to the person responsible to revise the budget and at the same time user status will be reset back to previous user status.
The above  method we have adapted for one of our client. This is done by a workflow consultant.
    Thanks
    regards

    Hi,
I too had a similar problem sometime back regarding the Submit button. Since you are saying that it is working for your colleague but not you, I predict that something wrong with the network you are in, compared to that of your friend.  Have you provided the Preprocessor URL for the button in the Adobe designer?

  • Dm cs3: How to create a proper layout for the E-mail sent to me by the submit-button

    Hi everyone,
I created a form by dreamweavercs3. By the submit-button an
e-mail is sent to the right E-Mail-Address. Everything ok.
But the result looks very poor. Like :
"name=xyc,adress=xtown".... and so one. Difficult to read and
    uncomfortable for further use.
How I can get a better lay-out of this e-mail. Is it possible
to create with that data f.e an excel-file. Or an jpg-sheet.
    Any ideas?
And PLEASE! I am a greenhorm in the dreamweaver-world. If you
like me to answer, do it in a way I can understand. (;-))

Please find the form tag on the page, copy it to the
    clipboard, and paste it
    into a reply....
    <form name="..." method="..."....
(that's an example of the tag - please copy everything from
    "<" through to
    ">")

  • Adding submit button/ sending document to email

    Hi
I am trying to figure out how to add a submit button/ some way
of sending a document that visitors fill out on one of my web pages
    to an email.
    Any ideas ?

Okay, let's be nice. That way there is a little HOPE for this PROJECT.
There should be an action assigned to your form. That action should be a script that processes the content of the form and sends it to you email. We will need two things from you to correct this problem.
A link (or code) from the page that contains the script.
The code for the script defined in your action on the previous listed page.
If you provide the two items listed above, someone here will correct your problem, as there are so many talented, friendly, knowledgable people that are experts in this.

  • Email Submit Button to send message but no PDF attachment

    Hello:
I have a PDF form with alot of information. I have a submit button which needs to send an email to someone with pieces of the information but doesnt need the PDF document. At the moment, I have manipulate the msg, subject, cc, bcc, etc.. but I cannot get it to stop attaching the document. anyone know how I can update my code for this?
    var oDoc = event.target;
        oDoc.mailDoc({
        bUI: false,
        cTo: textbox.rawValue,
        cCc: textbox1.rawValue,
        cSubject: "AWARDED "
        cMsg: "hello custom message"

    Hi,
to send only a message you need another method than mailDoc().
    Use app.mailMsg() instead.
Here's a macro for Designer ES2/ES3, that can create both methods easily.

  • Email submit button issue

    Hi Guys,
I have designed few forms recently and i am fairly new to livecyle, I have actually 2 issues, bit odd and i have tried to be as much discriptive as i can.
email submit button on all my forms works but it sends email to one perticular address and not to one that i programmed it to.
I.e. Form 1 - email to  [email protected] - when i press submit button it will send email to [email protected]
Form 2 - email to [email protected] - when i press submit button it will send email to [email protected]
Form 3 - email to [email protected] - when submit button is pressed it sends email to [email protected]
Now when i use this button on actual form it sends email to right addresse but it is obviously in XML format and wouldnt work for us, when i use button on distributed copy of the form (created via distribute form button) it sends email to wrong addresse in PDF formate (which is the formate we like).
Also whatever i put in Email Subject box - it will always put "submitting completed form" in the email subject line.
Not sure if it makes any different but we use outlook and i have tried this from several pcs.
I think i have cheked and rechecked everything and can't fix it, any help would be great.
Process i use to create this button is - Insert >standard>email submit, i will then put desired email address and email subject in relevant fields under Object pellette.
    Thanks,
    H

There are two ways to set the adress in LiveCycle I know:
1st is with the button itself, second is with Javascript/Formcalc.
If I got you right and you have 3 different forms you could search for the [email protected] adress in the xml's and exchange it there or check out where the form gains the mail adress from. It's the easiest method to get rid of something you are not that sure where it is located in the form but know what it does ;D . (I had some similar problem since I overtook forms of someone else.)
Did you check this thread out? http://forums.adobe.com/thread/462681?tstart=0
Paul gave an example there how to deal with the various things on mail buttons.
Edit: PS: On which event did you script it? Normally you can't script on the mail button itself so you need a fake button like Paul said.
I'm also not good with Reader Extensions, since I can't experiment with those sry

  • Email Submit Button

I need to email a PDF form to any person I want to. But when you add the Email Submit Button to the form it requires you to enter an email address. What if the email address is different every time? Is there a way to add an Email button so when the form user clicks on the Email button it brings up Microsoft Outlook and you can type in any email address that you want?

You need to have an email submit button that, when clicked, sends the email.. but you can set properties of that button and trigger it from another button. So hide EmailSubmitButton1 (or whatever it's called), create a new button, and add script like this:
// Set whatever address you like in the mailto: line
    EmailSubmitButton1.resolveNode("#event.submit").setAttribute("mailto:[email protected]?subject=h i there", "target");
    EmailSubmitButton1.execEvent("click");
This finds the submit button's submit node and sets it's target property to whatever you specify, and then clicks it.

  • My submit button on my PDF form is greyed out (will not work) after posting link to PDF on my WordPress website. It works in Acrobat Reader just fine.

This is where you can see the form as clicked through to from the WordPress website page:
    http://pinetreeplayers.com/ptp_new/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/submit-a-play.pdf
The PDF file was created in Acrobat 11, with a submit button. The submit button is actioned to send the form via email. It works perfectly by itself if the form is opened in Acrobat Reader, but once I upload the PDF to my WordPress site the submit button is greyed out, and will not complete the action to send on-click.
How can I fix this please - can anyone offer advice?

Yes. They need to download Reader and then disable Google Chrome's internal PDF viewer and enable Adobe Reader.
FireFox should also be configured to use Adobe Reader and not the internal PDF viewer.
The internal viewers are created to process PDF documents by not including the features and code to process PDF forms.

  • Email Submit Button and Reader 7.0?

I was just wondering if the email submit button works in reader 7.0? I created the submit button so that it sends out the entire PDF form and the data instead of just the raw data, but someone tested it in reader 7.0 and it gives a "this operation is not permitted" error. I have professional 7.0, and it works great for me. So I was wondering if this was something to do with the version of adobe?
    - Natalie

    Hi Natalie,
To email the entire PDF in the free Reader, you would need to "reader extend" the form using LiveCycle Reader Extensions see:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/server/readerextensions/pdfs/readerextensionsserver_ds.pdf
You can however email the XML data instead (as an alternate option)and this will work in the free Reader as well as in Acrobat.

  • HTTP submit button

    Hi all,
I am new to designer and am working to change our static PDF files to interactive ones. The goal would be for a user to fill out the form then submit it to our website, which would place it in a database. I am running IIS 5.0 and have used ASP, but am not sure what form the PDF information will take or how to make use of it. Any suggestions or hints would be very appriciated.
    Casey

    Hi folks,
I seem to be having a similar problem... I'm using Adobe Designer 7 to create a form and submit it to a script on my web server, where I will capture the POSTed data. I'm experimenting with target scripts written in ColdFusion MX and PHP 5.
I too get POST data in an "annoying format," and had to dump it out as a lump to figure out what was going on. Normally, I'd have access to form field values by referencing them like so, in ColdFusion and PHP respectively:
    #form.myfieldname#
    $_POST["myfieldname"]
The fieldnames I get from the Acrobat form looks like this:
    FORM1[0].MYFORMNAME[0].MYFIELDNAME[0]
ColdFusion will allow me to get at the field value by using this as a key, but PHP chokes--it seems to interpret the POST data as an array with a single, apparently empty element.
I've made sure that the Acrobat form's submit button is configured to send POST data, and I've tried every manipulation I can think of to get it to send differently. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to clean this up?
    TIA,
    Nick.

  • I created a form and I'm not sure how to make the 'submit' button send me the collected information.

Hello everybody. I am a web designer (NOT a developer)
I created a form and I'm not sure how to make the 'submit' button send me the collected information.
I have used phpform.org/ to custom build a submission form. Then I opened that html in dreamweaver (so that I could edit colors, fonts, and delete the phpform.org advetisement)
Now I need to link the 'submit button' so that it will e-mail me the completed form.
(formphp.org wants me to subscribe to a servie that I pay for in order to have the form e-mailed to myself.)
(after I get the submit button linked to an e-mail I will pull the html of my completed form into Muse- but I don't think that is really relevent)
I'm sure one of you can help point me in the right direction! I can't write my own code so detailed help is appreciated!

I'm afraid not.    It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder.  Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.
         <form action="path/form-to-email-script.php" >
The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
I'm  assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code.  Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names.  It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.
