Submit on Row Link of report

Hello,
I'm wondering if there is a way to do a page submit rather than a redirect when clicking a row link. Would I do a javascript function for this, or is there a magic flag somewhere in apex I can set?

Try javascript:doSubmit() as the URL.
You can put in request value as well if you wish.

Is it possible to put a link (hyperlink) on a row in a report!!

I need to know if it is possible to put a link (hyperlink) on a row in a report via a form or other method. The link will be different for each row.
I know you can add a column link but this will be the same link for each row.
I also know its possible using websheets.
However i am using an interactive report and form in a database. APEX 4.1.
The best method would be through a form. When the user creates a new entry for a row he can also add a link.

How do you propose to built the link? Is it embedded in a table? Built by a function? Yes, you can have a link in a report, just as a column like a date and an image..
If you offer more information, maybe SOMEONE can offer up more help..

Add a button(not a link) in each row of a report

hi,
i need to add a button(not a link) in each row of a report. On clicking this button , the value in a specified column in database should change from yes to no.
How can i achieve this funcationality. I am using apex 4.2.

my linked server used to work but now when i try to select from linked server i was told "The OLE DB provider for linked server reported an error. The provider reported an unexpected catastrophic failure Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider

but in fact for test connection i was told "the test connection to the linked server succeeded".

In addition to Tracy's post we have to know those answers as well:
* what provider are you using for the connection
* what do you connect to
for example, if someone try to connect to oracle using sql server provider then several simple queries are going to work probably OK, but once you are trying to use T-SQL or any complex SQL query then the errors are starting.
please post the connection string (without the password!) + the query that you are trying to use.

Make only some rows in a report as links

I am trying to make some of the rows in a report(The report is using union to take data from multiple tables) as links. For example i am trying to make a row corresponding to "emp" as a link. For this i am trying to use the below code

Ensure that the Display As Column Attribute for the report column is Standard Report Column.

Creating a mailto: link on each row in a report

Hello,
I built a simple Portal address book report using the wizard.
Now I would like to be capable of sending an email clicking over
the emailaddress column of any row of my report. How could I do

Affraid you'll have to rebuild your report from a wizard report
to one based on a SQL statement, since we need some
concatenation to glue the pieces together:
1. Create report based on SQL query
2. select '<a href="mailto:' || ename ||">' || ename || '</a>'
Name, job from SCOTT.EMP
- We concat the start of the tag with the column holding the
email-address: <a href="mailto:' || ename ||">'
- Then we have to include the same column (ename) again, this is
the value actually shown in your report
- Then we concat the rest of the tag: '</a>'
- Then we have to give a column alias ( Name), the report would
have problems to use the whole string as a column heading.
3. On Tab 'Column formatting', switch property 'Display as' to
HTML.
Finished....

Question: using links in report to copy data into form for update

I have a report that selects data from one a table, and i want to populate a form to update the report info and more info that a user will enter into another table. With alot of help I have managed to get the first 3 column fields across by editing the report link, under report attributes -> column link. The values of Item 1 to Item 3 work fine, but how do i get the rest of the info in the other 5 columns across??

I think you're trying to reinvent the htmldb wheel.
Have you tried looking at the wizards that help you do this?
Anyway, as an example, to populate the form using the pk
1: create your items on the page, including the PK
eg P2_EMPNO (PK), P2_ENAME, P2_SAL,P2_DEPTNO
2: create a page process "on load" that runs if the PK item is not null

into :P2_ENAME,P2_SAL,P2_DEPNTO
from emp
where empno = :P2_EMPNO

3: You now need to write a process that does an update
after submit

set ename = :P2_ENAME,
sal = P2_SAL,

where empno = :P2_EMPNO;

You need to consider how to handle new rows, optimistic locking and a few other things.
I would suggest that you have a look at the existing form wizard that does all this for you. We can then work around any "limitations" you find.

Can anyone please help me on how to perform a deletion of a single row/multiple rows in a report when one clicks on a checkbox ..
I went throught the HOWTO's guide .. But when i select a checkbox and say delete i get the following error:
ORA-20001: Error in multi row delete operation: row= 12, ORA-01403: no data found,

But in the report format is like this in the Group Footer row:

I created the format with "Previous" function
but in the report it is giving the '2000' instead of '1000' in the AMT field
Please help me, can i use the for loop in the report? or any sugessions?

A group footer will dis[lay contents of the last record. You need to sort records to ensure that the last record contains link to your dynamic image.

Current value of a column.row in a Report region

Hi
I have a report that I want to display a single row per page. No problem there. I also want to show, in a separate region below the value of two specific columns for that row (they are large text items that I want to show as text areas).
My problem is how to have the source of the text area data items match the current report row above. What I want is sort of;
SELECT TEXTFIELDNAME FROM TABLE WHERE KEY = value from column1 in the report above above (like the #EMPNO# notation when linking a report column to another page)
Or maybe there is a better way ?
Any pointers much appreciated.

Hi Jules,
As always you've some options to achieve what you would like to do.
If you know AJAX, you could do it that why, if not an "easier" why of doing it:
1) Create an hidden item
2) In your report make a link to the same page, but give as parameter the hidden item with the pk as value
3) In your where clause of your select to fill in the text area, you search for the hidden item (WHERE key = :HIDDEN_ITEM)

How to get more than 4 coloured rows in a report depending on column values

I've looked through the forum and found some stuff on mutli-coloured reports and found the link to http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:7:557008579481721819
But I have several problems:
This shows how to get 3 colours, but it's easy to get up to 4 by just using the "Column Templates" in a new report template.
I don't understand where to put the snippets. It says to put them in "Row Templates" , "Before Rows" and "After Rows" but my report template page doesn't have these options! I've got "Column Templates" (4 of them), "Before Each Row" and "After Each Row".
Am I looking at a link for an old version?
What I want to do is set the row colour dependant on a column called "level" which is between 1 and 5.

It's almost perfect now. My only problem is that the pagination table is, for some reason, enclosed within the results table (I've used FireFox web developer's tools and checked the souce HTML to be sure of this). So, if I have a border at table level, it appears on the row containing the pagination.
I've had to remove table borders and put right borders on the table data cells, but I can't find a way to put left borders on the table rows, so I have a pretty table with 5 levels of colour, but no borders on the left-hand side.
Ideally I'd like to avoid having the pagination stuff within the results table, but I can't see how/where to put a </table> to sort this out!

Hi, In obiee 11g, the pagination will be 1-25. Is there any possiblity in obiee to show the total rows count next to pagination. Ex: if the result contains 120 rows. it should display after the pagination

Export for all rows of a Report Region

Hi,
I have a html region with a query button to restrict which rows get selected in a reports region below it.
But I also want to have a link to export all rows in the report to a csv file. Button the report region may already
have selected data in it that is not necessarily all rows in the report. Thus I guess I am wondering if I should
create a whole separate hidden report region that will always select all rows in the query to relate the
export link to? Or if I can someone use the current report region and select all rows for the export but
not requery or change the currently displayed report regions results?

Yes I just created a hidden report i.e. one with all columns set to
APEX_APPLICATION.G_EXCEL_FORMAT = TRUE
And then just create a javascript function to call the export routine...

Extra buttons on each row of a report?

Hi,
I would like to add multiple buttons in front of each row in a report.
When a button is pressed a Pl/SQL statement should run with access to the PK ID of that row.
Also, it is important that I can add other buttons as well (edit, delete etc)
What I want to accomplish, for example:
I want to have an add event button on each line of a scheduled production run, this should then branch to a new page on which first a hidden item (set to pk id) and visible item (pk info) is set to those of the row on which the button was pressed.
I hope that makes sense.

I need 3 radio buttons on each row of a report. Out of these three , one can be selcted per row. And in each column I can select more then one radio button.
