Subreports require database logon

Hi,
I have written a crystal report with several on-demand subreports. This report is deployed within Business Objects Enterprise XI. When I view the report from InfoView and click on one of the subreport links it prompts me to enter database logon information.
Is there a way to avoid being prompted to re-enter my database logon information when viewing a subreport?
I have tried all the various database configuration options within the CMC, such as
-   use SSO context for database logon, and
-   use same database logon as when report is run
but there is no difference.
Any ideas?

Hi Stratos,
I am using Crystal Reports 2008 (version 12.1.0.892). I do not have to re-enter my database logon information when I click on a subreport link within the Crystal Reports Designer.
I am using Business Objects Enterprise XI Release 3 (version 12.1.0). When I a viewing my crystal report within InfoView and click on an on-demand subreport link It prompts me to re-enter my database logon information, which I do not want to happen.
I have tried the various database configuration options within the Central Management COnsole (CMC), such as:
- use SSO context for database logon, and
- use same database logon as when report is run
but there is no difference. I still am prompted to re-enter my database logon information.
Have you written a cystal report with on-demand subreports, deployed them to Business Objects Enterprise, and been able to view the subreports without re-entering your database logon information?  If so, how did you set the database configuration which I mentioned above. I am wondering if our system administrator forgot to do something.
Thanks.

  • 'Database logon failed (LO 26603) - Please HELP ME!

    Hi everybody...
    i need your help for an authentication issue whit LIVE OFFICE connections from Xcelsius2008 to Crystal Report Server 2008.
    I've just connected other reports data in Xcelsius2008 but generating the SWF sometimes the SWFs can not logon and refresh the live office objects (ex. Crosstabs).
    The error message is the following:
    'Database logon failed (LO 26603)'
    During the SWF's generation in Xcelsius (Live Office), it requires me the authentication to Logon in the Database, if I insert the correct authentication, Xcelsius refreshes the data (downloaded by CRServer) but before that it shows the Preview, it requires the authentication for Crystal Report Server 2008;
    in this windows i select:
    Sys: ServerName
    User: Admin
    Password: Password
    Autentication: Enterprise
    After this step, for some SWFs the data are refreshed and it works correctly, other times it shows the same error: 'Database logon failed (LO 26603)'
    May you explain me why for some "live office connections" i have this problem and other times not?

    Hi
        There is a known issue  for live office database logon credentials in Xcelsius 2008 Release note document.
        "A Live Office-enabled SWF file using a Crystal Report that requires
    database logon credentials will fail to refresh. This occurs because the
    SWF file does not prompt the user for database logon credentials, even
    if required by the report.
        To ensure the data is refreshed properly, the SWF file and the Crystal
    Report must be saved to the same BusinessObjects Enterprise system.
    A BusinessObjects Enterprise administrator must then enter the report's
    database logon information in the Central Management Console so that
    credentials are not required when the report is refreshed."
      Woud you please check your LO and see whether it is the reason some work well and some not?

  • How to pass database logon info to a Crystal Report in a subreport with different server name using VS C #

    Post Author: fabu1971
    CA Forum: .NET
    I could pass the database logon in Reports with subreports but the reports with subreports with different  server name I can not pass the logon information . Do you have any idea how I can do that to pass the database logon with different database or server name ?

    You can use the Subreports collection of the ReportDocument object to access all the subreports in your main report. These are returned as ReportDocument objects. Once you have your subreport as a ReportDocument you can loop through your Tables collection and set the ConnectionProperties to your appropriate Server/Database. For example here is some pseudo code: ConnectionInfo boConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();boConnectionInfo.ServerName = "serverName";boConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = "databaseName";boConnectionInfo.UserID = "username";boConnectionInfo.Password = "yourpassword"; foreach(ReportDocument boSubreport in mainReport.Subreports){    foreach(Table boTable in boSubreport.Database.Tables)    {        TableLogOnInfo boTableLogOnInfo = boTable.LogOnInfo;          boTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = boConnectionInfo;          boTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(boTableLogOnInfo);          boTable.Location = "newtablelocation";     }}

    this time i meet the famous error again which is database logon failed.
    i created a crystal report 2008 starting from blank report, then connect with odbc
    i use 2008 method
    objRpt.SetDatabaseLogon(db_username, db_password, odbc_name, database_name);
    2008 method will get database logon failed even set database location and verify database again
    then i use 8.5 method and try again for 2008 report. it said field name is unknown for one of formula
    then i drag field again for formula and set database location and verify database again
    it said the same error.
    then i uninstall 8.5 crytal report software in window 7 deployment machine, and do above again, it said the same error

  • Xcelsius - Database logon failed. (LO 26603)

    Hi Expert,
    I have a error when run .swf file.
    The first, I create new query from SAP toolbar integration in Crystal Report 2008. The Crystal Query is called from a BW Query . The query have not variables, the data get directly from BW Query.
    I saved Crystal Report file into BOE (File -->Save -->Enterprise, not save on BW).
    In Infoview, I setup schedule for this .rpt file with information database logon below (default as inform in Set Database Location of Crystal Report):
    - Database server: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (BW server)
    - User name: User in BW
    - Password: Password in BW
    In Xcelsius, I use Live Office to get data from crystal on BOE to Excel sheet on Xcelsius.
    In data-->Connection, I changed <server:8080> by <IP BOE System:8080>.
    When I preview or export to swf file, a message box appear require input user name and password of BW server (Database logon). After I input correct password, a message box User Identification appear, I input System, User name, Password on BOE server and chose Authentication Enterprise. And final, I get error message "  Database logon failed. (LO 26603)".
    I try opening Crystal Report file on Infoview and Refresh data, I also input database logon by BW User, the data refresh correctly.
    Why do crystal report file update data from BW correct, while .swf file is not and return error Database Logon failed.
    Please explain for me what step I missed to get data through Live Office.
    Thanks

    Hi Priya,
    Thanks for your support.
    I have set the default credentials in database configuration.
    But my dashboard still can't work. When I preview dashboard, A prompt for database logon information appear, I can logon sucess and refresh data. But after I logon username and password on BOE for BOE User Identification with Authentication Enterprise, I still get error " Database logon failed".
    Who can explain for me what steps I miss.
    Thanks

  • Prompting for the database logon while opening the report in CMC

    I created a report and saved in the Crystal server 2008 repository.  I set the  default Database configuration as
    report > Schedule > Database Logon > set password
    or tick "Use same database logon as when report is run" in Default Settings > Database Configuration.
    But when I am click on View for the report still it is promting for the database loging name and password.
    is there any other settings required for this.
    Thanks

  • Crystal Report requests Database logon if SAP BW is datasource

    Hi all
    I experience the following:
    1. SSO from SAP Portal to BOE works: I can view Sample Crystal Reports based on the BO-iView-template without additional login
    2. SSO from SAP Portal to SAP BW works: a) I can view custom BW Web queries without additional login and b) the connection tests on the system object in SAP Portal run fine
    3. I assume SSO between BOE and BW works because I can view Xcelsius dashboards based on BW queries within SAP Portal without additional login
    Nevertheless I am presented a login screen ("The report you requested requires further information. -
    Database Logon") if I try to view a crystal report based on a BW query, no matter if I start the report from InfoView, SAPGUI or SAP Portal. If I enter my SAP credentials in "Databse logon"-window I can see the report runs fine.
    SAP Authentication in BOE seems to work (I can import users & roles). In all 3 systems I have at least Admin or equivalent permissions. If I change the Database Configuration for this report within InfoView ("Use SSO") it does make any change (I also read somewhere a reply from I. Hilgefort that this is not necessary if BW publisher service is installed correctly).
    We use SAP BW 701.06, BOE XI31FP3.4 and SAP Portal 701SP6
    I publish the report from Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 with the SAP-Menu -> Save Report.
    I logon to InfoView-App with my SAP-BW credentials.
    Any help appreciated!

    Kanan

    Real solution is different, my other post is only a workaround:
    1. SNC settings in CMC were not correct (Certificate path, path to sapcrypto.dll)
    2. Relevant Serices have to run under local username
    3. Username has to be added to PSE

  • How to set Database Logon Info, if allowDatabaseLogonPrompting="false"

    Hey,
    Here is the Version Details -
    Crystal report X1 R1
    Sql Server 2005
    Tomcat 5.5.27
    Question -
    I am using jsf viewer to dispaly report in my web project. We don't want to prompt for database logon information before showing the report to teh front user. I have seen few sample jsp code which creates the crystalreportviewer object and set the connectioninfo details and calls the processhttprequest method to render the report. I have tried the same approach and it works for us.
    But our requirement is to just use the jsf tags. Is there a way to pass the database credentials to the jsp without prompting for Logon Information or using the java code to populate the connectioninfo in crystalreportviewer instance.
    Here is the jsp file -
    <%@ taglib uri="/crystal-tags-reportviewer.tld" prefix="crviewer" %>
    <crviewer:viewer displayGroupTree="false" viewerName="CrystalViewer"
    reportSourceType="reportingComponent"
    displayGroupTree="false"
            displayToolbarExportButton="true"
            displayToolbarPrintButton="true"
            displayToolbarRefreshButton="true"
            displayToolbarToggleTreeButton="false"
            displayToolbarCrystalLogo="true"
    top="100"
    left="200"
    reportSourceVar="#{Report.reportSource}"
    isOwnPage="true"
    displayGroupTree="false"
    allowDatabaseLogonPrompting="false">
    <crviewer:report reportName="Report.rpt">
         <crviewer:partsViewer viewerName="CrystalViewer"
              reportSourceType="reportingComponent"
              title="Fill to Fill Report"
              numberOfRecords="10"
              showHeadings="true"
              showPageNavigationLinks="true"
              allowParameterPrompting="false"
              reportSourceVar="#{Report.reportSource}"/>
    </crviewer:report>
    </crviewer:viewer>
    I am trying to run this and it shows an error page with information Database Login Error.
    I have created the report using JDBC/JNDI database connection with trusted authentication = false.
    The Sql Server 2005 error log shows -
    Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 5.
    Logon       Login failed for user ''. [CLIENT: <named pipe>]
    Any help will really be appreciated.

    Yes within the report designer i am able to refresh the report and open and close the report without getting prompted. I am not changing any database properties at runtime and using the jar files which come with CR Release 2.
    All i am doing is to export the report in pdf format. Here is the code :
    ReportExportControl exportControl = new ReportExportControl();
    ExportOptions exportOptions = new ExportOptions();
    PDFExportFormatOptions  pdfOptions = new PDFExportFormatOptions();
    exportOptions.setExportFormatType(ReportExportFormat.PDF);
    exportOptions.setFormatOptions(pdfOptions);
    exportControl.setExportOptions(exportOptions);
    exportControl.setExportAsAttachment(false);
    exportControl.setReportSource(this.wrapper.getReportSource());
    exportControl.setName(this.wrapper.getReportName());
    exportControl.setEnableLogonPrompt(false);
    //Pass Fields object to ReportExportControl
    exportControl.setParameterFields(this.wrapper.getFields());
    //Export only works if i pass the connections object with connectioninfo object populated with username and password.
    //We want to run the report using trusted authentication i.e. we don't want to pass username and password.
    exportControl.setDatabaseLogonInfos(connections);
    if(to_refresh)
      exportControl.refresh();
    If i don't provide the connectioninfo object with proper username and password to run the report inside the java class, it try's to logon to database using username = 'userid'. I think it picks it from the JDBC Connection String created while creating database connection for the report in the designer.
    Here is the jdbc connection string for the JDBC/JNDI connection created inside the report designer:
    !net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver!jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://localhost:1433/customer;namedPipe=true!user=!password=.
    Is there a way to get pass this problem??? Is there a way to force the connection from the java class to use trusted authetication??? Can we change the connection string to replace the userid with empty string to force trusted authetication???
    Any help will be really appreciated.

  • Database Logon Error

    Good Afternoon
    I'm facing a problem with a report developed in VS.Net 2008 using crystal inside of the development studio. The reason for this is it uses a class as a design data source  and then is populated at run time with a Generic List(List Of) of the class using the SetDataSource and then exported to Excel. All works swimmingly on my development pc however when we deploy this to a server it fails with the below error. We have the 2008 runtime installed correctly on the server so to some extent it should just work
    Database logon failed.System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8004100F): Database logon failed.ETC*
    Below is a section of the VB.Net code, can you please advise how I get around this. There is effectively no connection to a database required but I am happy for anything that gets me past this.....
    Thanks
    Terry

  • Infoview prompts for database logon screen when updating dynamic parameter

    I have already set up initial database ID/PW for the report in CMS, but when I I tried to update my parameter to schedule the report, it is requiring the user to enter database ID/PW again........Is there a way to set this up so that the user can bypass this step since it is quite annoying?
    Thanks.

    Is your lov created Business View Manager? If it is, you can store the userid and password in the data connection your business view is based on.
    1) Start Business View Manager. Close the default screen that appears.
    2) Click View > Repository Explorer on the menu bar.
    3) Expand the Dynamic Cascading Prompts folder. Locate the "Data Connection" for the appropriate dynamic parameter. It will be in the form of <parameter_name>_DC (i.e. it will have the name of the parameter and then '_DC').
    4) Double-click the Data Connection. "Property Browser" will appear.
    5) Type the database user name and password in that Property Browser.
    6) Set the Runtime Prompt to Never Prompt.
    7) Save the changes to the Data Connection.
    The prompt for database logon information will no longer appear when changing parameter values.

  • Avoiding Database Logon in Infoview

    I created a Crystal Reports using an Oracle Database. Once the report is completed I saved the report in INFOVIEW under a folder. When I try to run the report from InfoView it asks me for
    Database Logon again.
    I have to enter the user id and Password to make the report run. I want to run the report without asking
    Credentials again.

    there are 2 methods that can help
    1) SSO to the DB which requires Oracles to be integrated with AD(not documented by BO) and BO to be integrated with AD (admin guide)
    2) DBuser DBpass also allows a way to use a predetermined user/pw added to a user account in the CMC.I don't think this is documented externally. You will need to open a case and have an engineer check our internal product forums for a solution.

  • Enable Database Logon Prompt problem

    Post Author: saied
    CA Forum: .NET
    I have a report in which I pass the connection information to a connectionInfo object like
    ConnectionInfo connectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();connectionInfo.UserID = "user";connectionInfo.Password = "password";connectionInfo.DatabaseName = "database";connectionInfo.ServerName = "server"; In the CrystalReportViewer smart tasks, I disable Database Logon Prompting, but when I do this, the Page Unload event is fired and the ReportDocument is set to null; therefore, throwing an object not set to an instance exception. I want to be able to bypass the Crystal Database Logon Prompt, but I can't figure out how to do it.  If anyone knows what to do, please help. Thanks, SaiedH

    I am using Visual Web Developer 2008 Edition and Crystal Reports 2008. This is one and only report so far. I am passing logon credentials from code. This report was working in crystal report but not working any more is either place crystal designer or .net.
    I have to create subreport because i have one parent table and 2 diff child tables. one header table and 2 detail line tables. I was to see in report for each header tables multiple detail line items. If i join 3 tables then it multiplies no of line items and display wrong data. e.g. one BLheader (parent) table  has 2 detail line items (1st child table)  and 3 detailAccessories (2nd child table). I want to see 1 header, 2 detail lines, and 3 Accessories.
    Please advice how should i display this in report. Thanks a lot.

  • Database logon incomplete or incorrect.

    I have created a crystal report (XI) which includes a sub report and they use shared parameters.
    The report runs fine on my machine but when I upload it to Crystal Report Server it gives me
    the following error
    "The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect. "
    I have similar reports on Report server with same connection (ODBC) and they run fine.
    I think the problem is caused by sub-report
    Can you please help?
    Thanks
    George

    Hi George,
    Did you also set the logon info for the subreport in the properties of the report in the CMC?
    I'm moving this to the BOE forum also since the report works in CR Designer and only an issue in CRS.
    Thank you

  • Database Logon Failed after first report

    I have a Windows Server 2003 x86 server running IIS6 and ASP.NET. On this server, I have two different web forms set up to export Crystal Reports to PDF.
    My problem is that only one of these reports can run. For example, I open report 1 and can then reopen (generate PDF of) report1 as many times as I want. I cannot open report 2 - I get a "Database Logon Failed" error message. If I restart the server, I can generate a PDF of report 2 successfully and as many times as I want but report 1 will get a "Database Logon Failed" error message.
    Has anyone seen this behavior before? My code is very concise and manually closes the report document (and forces the garbage collection to run) once the PDF has been generated. However, for some reason, the report is staying in memory and is trying to run again even though it has been closed. It is driving me crazy.
    Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

    Let's get the server confusion out of the way.
    A "server" runtime install is an msi file called CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi.
    The msi is in a download called Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - FP x.x .NET Server Install (where x.x refers to SP or FP version (e.g.; Crystal Reports XI Release 2 - FP 5.6 .NET Server Install)
    So, this gives you an easy way of installing the CR runtime on a server (e.g.. Win 2003 server). No CR server (RAS) implication here. To install the runtime, all you have to do is run the msi, provide the keycode when prompted and the runtime is installed. You should see the directory C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\3.5\bin created. No pretty interface, etc. If you want a pretty interface, you create your own setup project or msi using the CR msm files.
    Hopefully this clears up the "server" confusion.
    To the actual issue on hand.
    You say this works with older "Crystal Reports viewers" installed on a WIN 2003 64 bit server. My question is; does this CR XI r2 based app work anywhere? Your dev box? Staging server?
