Substitute of ADD_JOB_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION procedure

I wanted to know what is the substitute in Oracle 11g database enterprise manager for the notifications which are invoked using DBMS_SCHEDULER.add_job_email_notification procedure. I want to have an email notification on the completion of a backup job using EM.
I hope my question is clear of what are the steps to configure a notification for a backup job completion using enterprise manager.
Please revert with the reply to my query.

  • Query on event based job in a client schema and not SYS schema

    Hi, I am fairly new to oracle job scheduler and wanted your inputs on how to create a event based job that sends a mail based on success of another job.
    I was able to implement this with the jobs being created under SYS schema. I did get email notifcation when errors were logged in exception table.
    However, now the requirement has changed to create the jobs under a client specific schema.
    The jobs got created successfully in CLIENT schema but the event based job is not working. It does not send the email notification.
    I feel this is to do with not correctly subscribing to the event queue {sys.scheduler$_event_queue}.
    Can CLIENT schema use the agent "AGENT" created under SYS to subscribe to the Scheduler event queue {sys.scheduler$_event_queue}? CLIENT is the schema in which the all jobs and procedures are created.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_AQADM.ENABLE_DB_ACCESS('AGENT', 'CLIENT');
    END;
    --Main Job that will load data and errors will be logged into exception table
    BEGIN
    dbms_scheduler.create_job( job_name=> 'CLIENT.LOAD_DATA',
    job_type=>'PLSQL_BLOCK',
    job_action=>'BEGIN  CLIENT.p_loaddata;
    END;',
    start_date=>systimestamp,
    repeat_interval=>'FREQ=MINUTELY;INTERVAL=1;',
    number_of_arguments=>0,
    enabled=> true);
    END;
    --set raise_events attribute = job_succeeded for main job
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.set_attribute ('CLIENT.LOAD_DATA', 'raise_events', DBMS_SCHEDULER.job_succeeded);
    END;
    --Event Job that will send email based on condition. Condition is checked in procedure CLIENT.p_check_sendmail; If errors are found in the exception table, this job will raise exception and will be JOB_FAILED status. This job will send a email notification.
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.create_job (       job_name          => 'CLIENT.EMAIL_JOB',
    job_type          => 'PLSQL_BLOCK',
    job_action        => 'BEGIN  CLIENT.p_check_sendmail;                                   END;',
    event_condition  => 'tab.user_data.event_type = ''JOB_SUCCEEDED'' and tab.user_data.object_name = ''LOAD_DATA''',
    queue_spec        => 'sys.scheduler$_event_queue,AGENT',
    enabled          => true);
    END;
    BEGIN
    dbms_scheduler.add_job_email_notification ( job_name => 'CLIENT.EMAIL_JOB',     recipients => '[email protected]',events => 'JOB_FAILED');
    END;
    Is the way i am subscribing to the event queue correct? Could you please share an example/document of event based job in a schema other than SYS and how subscription is being done to event queue?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    It's a good decision you made because you shouldn't create objects in the SYS schema. I see you're using the add_job_email_notification procedure, so I'm assuming you're on 11g onwards.
    This procedure is meant to make the job easy for you. That is, you don't need to worry about setting up AQ, the procedure does it all for you. All you need to do is setup the mail server if not already done, and call this procedure to add the mail notification. That's it.
    You can also specify a filter to the add_job_email_notification procedure, so maybe you could specify directly your CLIENT.LOAD_DATA job to this procedure.

  • Query on javax.mail.event.MessageCountListener

    Hi All,
    Have a java batch which reads email from an inbox (IMAP) and processes new mails received. we are using javax.mail.event.MessageCountListener to listen for any new mails received and add those to a arraylist which can be processed.
    During some point of time, javax.mail.event.MessageCountListener was not adding new mails to the list even though the thread was active and running.
    Is there a way to check javax.mail.event.MessageCountListener is up and active , listening to new mails or not.
    If it is not, then we have to make that active..
    Any better option/suggestions
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Query counter : event 3100 not logged in table RSDDSTAT_OLAP

    Hi experts,
    We have a customer scenario where in the table RSDDSTAT_OLAP table is not getting populated with the eventID '3100' when a query is executed. Due to this the query counter is not getting any value ( according to extractor logic RSTC_BIRS_OLAP_AGGREGATED_DATA)
    The changes of the notes : 1250182 ,1505325, 1093755 are already present in the cutomer system.
    Hence would like to know the cases in which OLAP read eventid 000003100 would not get recorded in the table RSDDSTAT_OLAP, on execution of the query .
    Thanks in Advance,

  • Add Email Job Notification via SQL Developer

    Hello,
    I'm a novice in the Oracle Scheduler space and I have what is likely a novice question.  However, I'm thoroughly turned around after searching and would gladly welcome some help.
    I'm using SQLdeveloper to utilize Oracle Scheduler within my schema.
    A procedure has been successfully created.  The job which executes the procedure is also successfully configured.
    Next I'd like to configure email notification for certain events.
    I've found a number of posts regarding the ADD_JOB_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION procedure.
    I.e., http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e25788/d_sched.htm#ARPLS72277
    However, I'm having trouble identifying how to get started implementing this within SQL Developer.
    Can someone please help with how the ADD_JOB_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION can be implemented within SQL developer?
    Another point I want to mention: in a previous prototype, I found a wizard to configure the email notification.  I'm not seeing that now.  Is there a wizard with SQL Developer in which this information can be configured?
    Extremely grateful for any help you can provide.
    Thanks - Fritz

    Thank you for your response.
    I'm entering that block into a SQL worksheet and it has now been accepted.  I was mis-interpreting an error message which was thrown in my earlier attempts.  Looks like the name of my job was problematic.  I've renamed that and the add job email notification block is now being completed.
    Thanks much for your help.
    Also I've tried using the get_scheduler_attribute to see if an email server is already configured.  However, I'm not using this correctly either.  Only these attributes can be viewed through get scheduler attribute.
    Scheduler Attribute
    Description
    default_timezone
    Default time zone used by the Scheduler for repeat intervals and windows
    log_history
    Retention period in days for job and window logs
    max_job_slave_processes
    Maximum number of job slave processes that the Scheduler can start. May be NULL.
    current_open_window
    Name of the currently open window
    event_expiry_time
    Time in seconds before an event generated by the Scheduler and enqueued onto the Scheduler event queue expires. May be NULL.
    Any suggestions of how to view which notifications are configured for a job?
    Thanks again! Fritz

  • DBMS_SCHEDULER send email notification issue

    Hello,
    We have a database Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production running on Windows 2008 server r2. We have 3 schemas. We have the exact same jobs on each schema. 2 of the schemas send the email notifications correctly. One simply doesnt!!! We have checked pretty much everything, Grants etc and everything seems to be the same.
    Does anyone have any ideas how to resolve this.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Are you talking about the ADD_JOB_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION procedure? If yes, take a look at this thread to see if it helps:

  • Best way to schedule and get notification for plsql job

    hi
    i would like to execute a procedure on weekly basis and want to be notified if the job fails
    which is correct way of doing this?
    1. create user defined metric and call the procedure this way
    2. create scheduler job dbms_scheduler
    the other question is while I have exception handling within plsql procedure, how will the grid agent or dbms_scheduler distinguish between success and failure ?
    do I have to set a variable or execute special command as part of exception handling ?

    Have you researched the ADD_JOB_EMAIL_NOTIFICATION procedure of DBMS_SCHEDULER?
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e25788/d_sched.htm#BABBFBGI
    This procedure adds e-mail notifications for a job. E-mails are then sent to the specified list of recipients whenever any of the specified job state events is raised.For more information about monitoring jobs, including a description of job logs and job email notifications, look here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14072_01/server.112/e10595/scheduse008.htm
    You can configure a job to send e-mail notifications when it changes state. The job state events for which e-mails can be sent are listed in Table 28-13. E-mail notifications can be sent to multiple recipients, and can be triggered by any event in a list of job state events that you specify. You can also provide a filter condition, and only job state events that match the filter condition generate notifications. You can include variables like job owner, job name, event type, error code, and error message in both the subject and body of the message. The Scheduler automatically sets values for these variables before sending the e-mail notification.

    This error message is very similiar to the message that Shanthir posted on Jan, 21. I did run the dbmslob.sql, but it doesn't help. Anybody has ideas how to solve it?
    I used the PL/SQL web toolkit provided by OAS4.0.8.1. I believe oracle web agent is replaced by this toolkit.

    Hi,
    Glad that somebody else too got this problem. Well, as I had mentioned in my previous posting too, I think there are some procedures in the package, dbms_lob, like the writeappend, createtemporary etc.. which is not found in my dbms_lob.sql file, I am using 8.0.5, but I found these procedures in the 8i, I think it is becos of that.
    By the way if anybody got this solution and got any workaround, please help me too.
    I am still waiting for the solution to that.

  • PL/SQL Stored procedures vs C# code.

    Hi All
    We are going to start designing a kind of transactional application with huge volume of data (150 million records per month). Our selected DB engine is Oracle 10.g while C# is selected development language.
    Because of big volume of data performance is one of the most important factors for us, and the technical design should gain the best level of performance.
    What i'm looking for and studing for it is to define which kind of operation shall be done by Stored Procedure which will be written by PL/SQL or by C# classes?
    I don't interested in to handle complicated and complex jobs using PL/SQL stored procedures while the performance really deserve it.

    Hello,
    Well, my philosophy is to leverage the database as much as possible. I have worked with applications that had no "select", "insert", "update" or "delete" statements in them. Instead, stored procedures and functions inside of PL/SQL packages and bodies were used. Some people will argue strongly against that, but I belong to the "thick database" group rather than the "the database is just a persistence layer that I have to deal with" group. To me it makes sense to co-locate the code that works on the data with the data. If you are working with large volumes of data, I find the bulk operations available via PL/SQL to be very handy.
    Here's an AskTom thread that deals with this general issue:
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:12083187196917
    Whilst the thread is primarily about Java, you can substitute just about any other language and the meaning will still carry over.

    Mark

  • How to suppy and get the results from a procedure dynamically.

    Hi all,
    I have a simple procedure, which should prompt five times for
    values and display the values dynamically. but it is not
    behaving like that. while compilation it is asking for the
    value, once i enter the value , it is prompted that procedure

    what i have entered at compilation time. Please check out. Here

    End;
    Regards,
    G. Rajakumar.

    See now what happens is
    When u use &variable in sql or plsql it tries to substitute with
    the value held by that variable. If it dosent find that value in
    that session then it prompts for one. (that is why ur proc asks
    for value only once)
    What happens in your proc is
    fisrt time it will ask for &r value, but subsequent i will not
    ask because when second time it tries to do &r in your prog it
    finds the value that u had entered above. Also as u said that
    prog takes the input and dosent show anything this is cos sql
    engine takes the value and compiles the proc it actucally shows
    when u run it. U can have look at the below executed program
    In this once u have eneterd say value 199 then it display 199
    for those many number of times. I hope this answers your
    question.

    you don't have to use execute when you want to execute a procedure (only on sql*plus, you would use it)
    just give the name of the funtion
    create or replace procedure test
    as
    begin
        dbms_output.put_line('this is the procedure test');
    end test;
    create or replace procedure call_test
    as
    begin
        dbms_output.put_line('this is the procedure call_test going to execute the procedure test');
        test;
    end call_test;
    begin
        dbms_output.put_line('this is an anonymous block calling the procedure call_test');
        call_test;

                                                p_TransactionID         OUT VARCHAR2
                 ) The body of the procedure does a bunch of processing, and inserts data into a staging table. The cursor OUT parameter then returns a SELECT statement from the staging table. Since it's possible for this procedure to be hit multiple times (multiple users), the transaction ID is used to match the data in the staging table to the correct request. The procedure then deletes the data from the staging table. (I'll post it if necessary, but it's quite long, and since it's used in other applications successfully, I don't believe it's relevant to my issue.)
    I have been asked to create an APEX report of the data generated by the procedure. I've never used a procedure with an OUT parameter to set up a report. I was hoping to assign the transaction ID to a hidden variable on page load, and then using it to poplulate the report. I'm not interested in the cursor OUT parameter, I've written my own SELECT statement to grab data from the staging table.
    I tried to create a page computation that did this - item :H_P19_TRANSID, Before Header, computation = EMS.EMS_READER.SelIssueActivityPublic(:H_P19_CURSOR, 454551, :H_P19_TRANSID) [454551 is a test issue id], but I get the following error: ORA-06550: line 1, column 43: PLS-00222: no function with name 'SELISSUEACTIVITYPUBLIC' exists in this scope ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored flowComp=H_P19_TRANSID
    Error ERR-1030 Error executing computation expression. It seems to be thinking that SelIssueActivityPublic is a function, and I'm not sure why.
    Basically I need to know how to use this existing procedure to set up my report. Once I can get the transaction ID into a page item, I'll be set.

    I never got a chance to finish this report, as I was shuffled to something else with a higher priority. Now that I'm coming back to it, I still have a few issues.
    I created a new function that does all the processing (inserting into the staging table etc.), and returns the transaction id. I then tried to set up a page computation on a hidden item to run this function and store the transaction id.
    In the computation, if I put
    reader.SelIssueActivityPubnocursor(:H_P19_ISSUEID); as the computation, I get ORA-06503: PL/SQL: Function returned without value flowComp=H_P19_TRANSACTIONID as an error. If I put return return reader.SelIssueActivityPubnocursor(:H_P19_ISSUEID); as the computation, I get ORA-06550: line 1, column 50: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "EMS" when expecting one of the following: . ( * @ % & = - + ; < / > at in is mod remainder not rem <> or != or ~= >= <= <> and or like like2 like4 likec between || multiset member submultiset The symbol "." was substituted for "EMS" to continue. flowComp=H_P19_TRANSACTIONID as the error. Can someone tell me what's going wrong?

  • Tuning a procedure and using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions

    Hi
    I have Procedure that have 3 curosrs which are nested one below with in each other
    and it looks as below
    it's structure will look some thing look like this
    declare
    empno_fetch number;
    CURSOR deu_process IS
    SELECT empno
    FROM emp
    WHERE flg_process = 'N'
    AND ROWNUM <= 5000
    ORDER BY empno;
    CURSOR dup_all IS --c1 fetch around 400000 records
    (select empno
    from emp
    where empno>l_empno
    order by empno
    where rownum<=empno_fetch;
    CURSOR rules IS --c2
    SELECT rule_id, rule_score, name_Of_func
    FROM rule;
    begin
    l_count := 1;
    OPEN dedupe_rule_attr;
    LOOP
    BEGIN
    Here one loop is used for fetching 5000 records at time and
    Here deu_process cursor is opened ,assume it fetches one record
    Here another cursor dup_all is used for fetching the records and assume it fetched 400000 then
    Here another cursor is opened name where it fetches 10 rows
    Here logic is if first row then
    call's stored function which has following functionalty
    it compares fields such as address of outer most cursor i.e deu_process with all the address of the other rows i.e 400000 rows and return a number
    if second row then
    call's another stored function which has
    compares other fields such as first name,last name
    if third then other field
    so on ....
    up to 10
    and then finally ends
    so if i comment all the rules loop then it takes only one min to execute .If it validaes all of them if takes 14 minutes to execute .so there is problem in that 10 procedures to execute
    So i found an approach to run all the rules simultaneously using dbms_job .But i face a problem that i can't uderstand how to send the input and out put parameter's to calling procedure.And these parameter's must be passed by variable from called procedure to calling procedure
    Please suggest me what is the syntax of dbms_job with input and output parameters with variable's that must be passed as formal parameter's
    Regarding DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT I am getting following error
    Declare
    x number:=1;
    b number;
    jobnumber number;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT(JOB => jobnumber,
    WHAT => 'vamsi_proc1('||x||');',
    NEXT_DATE => (sysdate+1/(86400)),
    INTERVAL => null);
    --dbms_output.put_line('value of b is '||b);
    COMMIT;
    END;
    Declare

    The symbol "null" was substituted for ")" to continue.

    create or replace procedure vamsi_proc1(v in out number) as
    x number(4);
    begin
    --a:=1;
    insert into emp_vamsi(select 677,ENAME,SAL,DEPTNO,MANAGER from emp where empno=v);
    commit;
    --a:=2;
    --x:=a;
    end;
    using dbms_job.submit proc that call's functions which returns out and in parameters to calling procedure environment .I can't get this with out using data base table's.
    If you have any method for this Plese suggest
    And also please suggest me weather using job's is a good idea ,If not than suggest me what ever will the other approach.
    Thank's and Regard's

    Hi <br>
    I have looked at all sql trace file ,<br>
    I found that there is no problem in sql statemens all of them are using proper <br>indexes execpt the folllowing statement<br>
    <br>
    SELECT nvl(COUNT(ref_appln_no),0)<br>
    FROM ci_cust_dedupe_mast<br>
    WHERE flg_mnt_status='A'<br>
    <br>
    This statement executes only once for 1*3,77000*10 times <br>
    The function that i had sent previously executes more than 4000000*20 times .<br>
    I think all it takes is only for iterations that are caused<br>
    <br>
    I am also sending sql trace for reference
