Successfully relocated my iTunes music to my has but newly bought music is stored not on my nas but in my user directory.

After successfully relocation of my iTines media I can now play my music from my NAS.  So far so good until I bought a new song and saw that iTunes stored it in the default location which is the user directory (something like /users/xxxx/ )  How can I tell iTunes to store it in the location as stated in the 'advanced tab' of preferences.

You need iTunes 10.7 or greater.

To retain your playlists, artwork, play counts, etc, you need to move the entire iTunes folder, not just the music files..
    Correct.
After that just select the new folder location in iTunes> Advanced settings.
    Incorrect.
    Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library and select the iTunes folder.
This will read the iTunes library.itl file in this folder and the library as it was previously will be opened.

  • Itunes music store is not yet available in your country?

I get a message stating "itunes music store is not yet available in your country" whenever I log into the Itunes music store. I'm in the USA and my System Prefs, Date and Time/timezone, and credit card/user info on my itunes account all have my correct location.
Also, when clicking on specific TV show icons, itunes shuts down.
any help with either of these?

Check at the bottom of the main store page & make sure you are set for the US store. If not, just click on the drop down by the flag icon & make the change.

  • ITunes music store is not available in your region

I live in Jersey, Channel Islands and I am trying to create a music store account.
However, I am getting an error message after I submit my details: "The iTunes Music Store is not available in your region"
My ID shows the country as UK.
    Can anyone help?

Sorry, but there is no iTunes Music Store for the Channel Islands. Though the Channel Islands are nominally under the auspices of the UK, legally they're separate entities, so the UK licenses for the iTunes Music Store don't apply and the record companies will prevent Apple from allowing you to purchase. Unless you have a legal residence in the UK (or some other country) and have a credit card with a billing address in that country, then you're out of luck, at least for now.

  • ITunes music is stored on an external hard drive. How do I play...

I just transferred all of my music onto an external hard drive to save space on my computer.
Is it possible to set iTunes so that it uses the external hard drive as the source of the iTunes music library. iTunes seems to only want to have the "iTunes Music" file on the C drive so that it can access it automatically as iTunes opens.
How do I switch it from looking at the C Drive to a specific folder on my G drive?

I followed all the instructions for consolidating my music into one folder on my external hard drive. (I'm struggling with this because my ext HD was renamed when I synched my iPod shuffle last night. The "E:" drive has now become the "F:" drive and all my songs have those dreaded exclamation points next to them. Exploring my computer, I found "My music" folders in two place on my C: drive and one place on my external hard drive... and the song list in each place is different.
    Argh.
So... following the directions in the article reference here, I attempted to consolidate all of my songs into one folder on my external hard drive.
But.. I checked the song list when the "consolidation" was complete... and MANY songs are missing. They're still on the C: drive, but don't appear to have been copied to the new folder on the ext HD.
    I would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks so much!
Edit: I tried to reassign the ext. HD a permanent letter, but my Control panel does not appear to offer the option of Administrative tools. Is there an easy way to get to this, as this seems to be the root of the problem?
    Thanks.

  • How Itunes Music is Stored on the Mac HD

Can someone post a primer on how the files are stored. I seem to have my music stored in more than one place on my HD: iTunes Library, and Itunes Music. I think I created some king of temporary files when I once restored all my music from the Ipod. I want to free up some space on my HD, but am afraid of removing the wrong set. I have about 14G worth of music taking up around 29G of space!

  • Itunes music store still not available in AUSTRALIA

I was so excited to watch the October 12 video stream and was sitting on the edge of my seat when I saw the ipod video revealed before my eyes, i was so excited I logged on and bought one straight away forgettign why I originally started watchign the video stream. i started watching originally to see if Steve Jobbs would announce music store available in Australia. Act I, Act II, Act III, one more thing and the finale and encore came and went. I was so shocked that after all this time Australia still does not have access to purchase music and now video and TV programs. Would somebody care to comment. I have written 5 letters to Apple and of course there has never been a response from the company. I am sure I am not he only one there must be more voices who would like to comment...

I read sometime back that they were in negotiations with the music labels for an iTunes Music Store in Australia but some labels as you may know are now insisting music downloads be more costly than 99 cents to which Steve Jobs has replied that they are getting greedy.
Apple has been trying to reject a price increase and as they will have to renew existing agreements soon with labels for countries in which there is already an iTunes Music Store that will likely also be an issue in future to be resolved. I don't think there will be an iTunes Music Store launch for Australia till negotiations with music labels are completed.

  • ITunes music library will not update on iPod after syncing

I did a computer swipe a number of months ago and was only just recently able to recover my iTunes account.  So fortunately I have all my music still (well most of it.  Some of my file locations are missing but that is user error).
Now, yesterday I synced my iPod for the first time since the clean sweep.  I was annoyed that the process completely cleaned out my iPod (of course it was not backed up because I had no way of syncing it to my account) so I lost everything except the music.
Here's the problem:  while I can play iTunes on my laptop, none of the songs are being properly downloaded onto the iPod.  All the titles and information show up like they should, but they are greyed out so you cannot select them.
I've tried re-syncing several times and even rebooted my laptop and re-syncing to no avail.
My iPod is literally empty like when I first got it brand new but I can't play my music.
Any ideas?  I'm at my last straw.

Is the iPod signed in the iTunes account? (Settings>Store)
Next I would try restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and then sync.

  • ITunes music files did not transfer afte rebooting OS software

    hi there
I had to reboot system 10.3 software- I was happy because I had everything backed up on a Lacie external drive that i had formatted as a bootable disk. So when my iBook came back from the repair shop with a new blank OS and asked me if I wanted to transfer files from another computer, I did, from the Lacie hard drive. Only my iTunes music did not transfer, and so far it seems like I have to import files one by one- I can not figure out how to import the whole lot of music files.
Additionally, all my other files, mostly Word, were imported with the "created on" date all set to 1970, for some reason. That is annoying; any ideas from anyone? Thank you very much

  • Some Dowloaded music that is in Itunes Music Folder Does not appear in Itun

I downloaded about a dozen songs from itunes yesterday. Four out of twelve songs do not appear in itunes.
I checked and these four missing songs are in my purchase history, these songs are in my itunes music directory on my windows xp computer and I have the most recent version of itunes?
    Any other suggestions?

My music is not there.  It is, however, showing up on my main (MAC) HD, not my external drive.  I think that I might have deleted the external drive copy instead of the local HD copy when I was trying to open up disk space.
Is there a way to scan the MAC HD aside from spotlight?  When I look under about this mac->storage, I see that all 64GB of music remains on my main HD, but when I run searches in the finder for MP3, MP4, or by band name, I cannot find anything.

  • Itunes music library is not showing all my music

I have a random problem with iTunes and I hope someone can help.
I have just under 1500 tracks on my macbook, all stored in the iTunes library folder where they should be. However, when I open iTunes, it says it cannot find the original file for loads of my music (there is a little '!' symbol on the left hand side).
I get the option to search for the original file and I just go to the iTunes library folder and there it is, along with all my other music that iTunes can see!
This is a random problem as when I open iTunes, its not always the same tracks it cant find, its always different ones.
It affects about 20% of my music each time.
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers, Jus

    try this:
quit iTunes. move the following file to the desktop: <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/library/preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist
fire up iTunes (which will create a new .plist file). if it works now you can trash the plist file you moved to the desktop.
if still no joy, here are some useful tools:
    _*iTunes Track CPR v1.3*_
This script attempts to locate the files of so-called "dead tracks"--iTunes tracks designated with (!)--that you assume are not actually missing but are still located in the iTunes Music folder in their "iTunes File Order" (Music -> Artist -> Album -> file.xxx)."
    and
_*Music Folder Files Not Added v2.0*_
This application will list the file paths of the files in your designated "iTunes Media" folder which are not in iTunes' library. Additionally, you can select a different parent folder and its contents will be compared to the iTunes library. Options to Add a selection of found files to iTunes or move them to the Trash.

  • ITunes Music Library.xml not updating when adding new songs

I have about 150.000 music tracks on my iMac and iTunes didnt have any difficulty with it. When using the songs in DJ program Native Instruments Traktor Pro, this program checked the latest update of the iTunes Music Library.xml file and everything went ok. Whenever I changed a smart playlist or added songs, my Traktor looked at the updated .xml file and Traktor updated it's own files.
SUDDENLY, and I dont know why, this iTunes Music Library.xml file did not update anymore. Whenever I change a song or add a song, the 'update date' in my finder next to the iTunes Music Library.xml file stays the same (1 May 2010) This means my DJ software does not show the updated/added songs...
Plse help... what should I do... I am a professional DJ and I especially bought this iMac for the purpose of DJ'ing. Because of this issue, I can't use it anymore...

  • HT204406 iTunes Music Match Songs not loading to iOS devices

I am using iTunes 10.6.3 and Mac OS X 10.7.4 with iTunes Music Match.  I have a few songs such as Guns N' Roses Coma which is uploaded to the cloud, however when I drop it into a playlist it will not download to my iPhone or iPad, when I attempt to download it states "This item cannot be downloaded.  The item you ahve requested is not available for download."
When I go to my main music library I am able to play the song and have no issues, and it shows in the view option that the song is "Matched"
In an attempt to remedy the situation I then deleted the song from my main computer library and moved the file to the trash.  At this point it gives you the option to re-download the song from the cloud.  I then receive the same error message, "this item cannot be downloaded.  The item you have requested is not available for download."
I also receive a "stop sign" error message which states, "There was a problem downloading "Coma / Use Your Illusion I / Guns N' Roses. An Unknown error occurred (11111).  Please chedk that teh connection to the network is active and try again."
Be assured I'm connected to the internet and have an active and authorized iTunes Match session going, i.e. the cloud icon is active.
Can anyone assist me with what is going on, the whole reason I pay the fee to apple for this service is to be able to flawlessly download music from my library to my iOS devices so it doesn't make any sense that a "Matched" song wouldn't be availalbe for download?

I haven't received any feedback but I tried to re-download the song I noted today and magically it worked and no errors.  I must believe that someone at Apple identified the problem and corrected it.  Thanks I guess...
