Suddenly can't send email reminder

When I create a new iCal event I can no longer create an email reminder. When I select email in the drop down it pops up a waring telling me I have to add myself to Address Book. But I am already in Address Book. I tried deleting my card and creating a new one. This is new behavior.
Any idea where to begin?

Greetings,
_In Addressbook go the card that is yours and ensure that the email address on that card is the exact same that is in the Mail program under Mail > Preferences > Accounts.
-Click on that card that is yours in Addressbook and go to the Card menu and choose "Make this My Card"
_Go back to iCal and make a new event and try inviting someone to it and see what happens.
Cheers.

• Live.ca smtp - I suddenly can't send emails :/

Hi there,
I got a replacement iphone 4s last week. Today I can't send emails and the message I get is:
"Cannot Send Mail
The username or password for
"SMTP:[email protected]@smtp.live.com" is incorrect.
Please help. Whenever Microsoft live email and apple get it together I would appreciate it.
Anytime about now would be good. Thanks.
This is not a new problem for me. I'm always having to reset my #!%%$@ Microsoft live password. It's a pain in the rear end.
Thanks to anyone that can help

• Suddenly Can't send email as an attachment

Hi, If I open a document, in this case a doc made in Mac Word, and click on "File" and then "Send To" the "email as attachment" is grayed out and unavailable.
This has never happened before. Yet all of a sudden I can't send a document as an attachment.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
Thanks in advance

By now you have probably found the answer. I just discovered that you have to go into preferences for your email account and chose the correct default account.
I am concerned because - if you did not change the default - why did it change?
Are you using Google Chrome on your computer?
I wonder if it has something to do with the problem, because in my case, it was chosen as the new default. I did not chose it!!!

• Suddenly can't send email time warner internet

Time Warner Downey, CA. did something last week and I can no longer send email.
They couldn't help so they blamed Thunderbird.
Tried to let Thunderbird do an auto config with same results.
All my messages and contacts are in Thunderbird and need to get it running soon.
Can you help, urgent issue.
At work now, not in front of home computer.
Thanks
John

''They are changing something at TW they said. ''
perhaps it would be useful for you to know what they are talking about.
As you are able to receive emails you must be using the correct incoming server settings.
What settings are you using now?
In Thunderbird:
* Help > Troubleshooting Information
* click on 'copy text to clipboard'
* paste info into this question.
* remove all font and printer info
specify which mail account has the issue.

• Suddenly can't send email... what happened?

Using Mail on Leopard. I can receive email just fine. But sending it...
I get the error:
"Cannot send message using the server (my server name)
The server “mail.mydomain.com” rejected the address “[email protected]”.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
Sending from: My Name <[email protected]>"
I've never seen the "rejected the address" before. And doing a search on Discussions turned up ZERO threads.
Any ideas? Please help!
Cheers.

I was having lots of problems yesterday with Mail. First it was my .mac mailbox then my 2 gmail accounts. I went into one of the gmail accounts and it was not set to 'imap' which is how mine is set up. Everything has worked fine for weeks, and all of a sudden settings are changed. Preferences are not being saved either - I'm having to reset them a couple of times a day and I'm sure to check the 'save' box too. Why would a setting in gmail settings change? It seems that gmail and 'mobile me' don't get along either! I ended up deleting both gmail imap accounts, and recreating them. So far, they have worked today just fine, but folders keep appearing and disappearing in the mail client. Earlier today the 'reminders' folder was there - now it's gone. Not that I use it, but that's another example of the inconsistency we're experiencing right now.

• Suddenly can't send emails

I use Mail to manage all my Yahoo! mails. I can send and receive emails alright. But suddenly today, when I need to send a very important email, it fails to send it. I've tried many times and I've double checked the email address of the recipient. Nothing's wrong. Then what's wrong?
PB 12 1GHz, 768MB, 60GB, Combo Mac OS X (10.3.9) AirPort Base Station, iPod shuffle, iPod nano

What is happening exactly? Does it give you an error saying the email can't be sent? Does it appear to go through, but get bounced?
In order to send or retrieve email from Yahoo! accounts, you have to subscribe to mail plus, unless you have another setup through an ISP. Could it be that your plan's payment is overdue?

• I can not send email from my iPad . Have been using it for over a year, all of a sudden I can only receive email. I have a wifi connection in my home and have a A T &T cellular data plan?

I can not send email from my iPad . Have been using it for over a year, all of a sudden I can only receive email. I have a wifi connection in my home and have a A T &T cellular data plan?

I have a 1st gen iPhone that I just updated the software to 2.0.2
Now whenever I press the mail icon it goes to the mail app for about 4 seconds, does nothing, no loading of folders, old messages, nothing.
Then it reverts back to the home screen. Tried restarting, haven't tried restoring, thought I'd look here first.
Anyone???

Email back to working again. I am able to send and receive with no issues. Strange behavior with email. No apparent reason for this happening other than the weather was bad yesterday, cloudy, overcast with thunderstorms. Maybe disrupted signal?

• Suddenly I can't send email, but I can receive it!!

I'm getting messages 'can't send email' since this morning. I'm receiving email OK. I'm with BT mail. I haven't changed any settings.
Any help greatly appreciated.

My email still keeps dropping off. It's fine for ages then suddenly get the same message 'Can't send email. Check settings'
I do a reboot on the phone and that seems to reset the connection. But why do I have to keep doing this?

• I can't send emails with my Ipad4.

I have used my Ipad4 for a couple of weeks, then suddenly I can't send emails any more. I get the response that the username or password is incorrect. Well, actually they are correct. So I have checked and double checked. It seems to be a problem related to this specific Ipad. My other Ipad3 works fine, as does my Macbook. The web based email interface is also fine, so this is not a problem with the username or password. I also receive email fine, so it is rather strange.
Could it be some software glitch? Have others had this issue or have any idea's?

Thanks again for the reply. Well, it does not sound like this is a common problem, so maybe it is unique to my Ipad somehow. As mentioned earlier, i have no issue on another Ipad, not a 4 but a 3, with exactly the same settings. I have tried to delete the account and set it up again several times with and without airplane mode turned on. I use Virgin Media for my email here in the UK. They had no suggestions so far that could help. They correctly point out that since I have no problem with the other Ipad and the web access, it seems to point to some Ipad issue for the Ipad 4 or maybe just my particular Ipad.
So here are the details: This is a so called Imap account, so in order to set it up on an Ipad, one has to choose "other" in the email set up screen. One of the reasons my confidence is somewhat shaken in the software is that I get a message claiming that this feature is for O2 clients only. That is to be ignored however, and when one presses next, one then gets the choice to set up the account as Imap only if the Ipad is in airplane mode. I am sorry, but that strikes me as slightly clumsy, and it took me many hours of self tech help before I found another user who thankfully had discovered the aiplane mode trick to get the Imap option. Nevermind, now I set up the account as specified, which is:
Host: smtp.virgin.net
User Name: [email protected] (example)
Password: correctly entered
SSL:on
Authentication: Password
Server: 465, but 25 is also supposed to work
With all this, I can happily say it works on my Ipad3, but not my new one. Oddly as mentioned earlier, it worked for a month or so, then became intermittent, and then failed on my Ipad4. So it has actually worked even on the Ipad4.
It is all very frustrating. Maybe I will take it to the store and have them check the device for faults, unless of course there is some guru who can help? Any suggestions are certainly welcome.
Many thanks

• Can't send email aol

All of a sudden I can't send email with my aol email account in Mac Mail. I have used it in Mac Mail for a years, and it stopped about a week or so ago.

I found this thread using the search
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11113286&#11113286
and it talks about port settings and changing email address extensions. It ended saying they were having server problems, but that was in February. However it does give a twitter account that you might check. However, some of the things they mention there might help you. I don't use AOL, but that is the best I can do. You might want to use the search box on the right and see what else you can find here if that doesn't work.

• Can't send email on ipad

Suddenly I can't send email from AOL account on my ipad. When I send an email I get the error message Cannot send mail - rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying.

Read this discussion. You may need to enter a a username and password in the outgoing mail server setting - even if it says that it is optional.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/11770966#11770966
This one as well.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2582847?start=0&tstart=0
And the explanation from yet another discussion ....
Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if you can then send emails.

• Can't send email through Apple mail

I suddenly am not able to send email through Apple mail on my MacBookPro. ipad and iphone still working. I can also send email through att online. My email is @att.net, and the message says "The server cannot be contacted on port 465". (That is the proper port)

Hi,
Here are some suggestions,
1. Try downloading another free email client to see if it works from there, just to eliminate other possibilities.
2. Try removing the account in mail settings, and adding it again with the correct settings.
Let me know what you find!

• How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini

How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini?
On my PC I simply have a master return email address and use a POP for the secondary address. Both are through the one exchange account without a problem. I need to be able to do the same on my Ipad.

Ah, I should have made that clear. My domain didn't come from google. It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail. I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).
Gmail has an option that lets someone with custom domains send (and receive) email through gmail using the custom domain once Google confirms proper ownership of the domain (to prevent spammers and such). Gmail has a setting for "send email as" which allows gmail to be sent using a custom domain as the sender. I'm pretty sure Apple's old mobileme had this feature too, but I didn't use it.

• I just updated my IPad to iOS 5 and now can not send email. The error message says the server rejects the address which is not true Asti sends on my desktop.

I just updated my iPad to iOS 5 and now can't send email- I have tried the obvious but no luck. Any suggestions?

Usually 'authentication required' means that you need to submit a username (or e-mail address) and password to the e-mail server, when sending a message. This logic is not different between Outlook and Thunderbird, and even with the latest and previous version of Thunderbird.
Of course you can try the previous version again to see if it solves the problem, although you'll be less secure because you would be missing the latest fixes.
If you'd be willing to get back to Thunderbird, say if your frustration level with your new app would increase too much, please see our article [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages cannot send messages] for further help.
In all other cases I'd appreciate it if you could mark this as answer so we know you don't need further help.
