  • Host function plus sudo command not working

    Hi,
    For normal command such as ls, it works.
    But when I run the following
    v_host := '/usr/bin/sudo -u devuser /test/app/dev/scripts/test.sh
    host(v_host);
    it does not work.
    anyone has idea ? Thanks.
    Ivan

    I imagine sudo is probably attempting to prompt for a password. I think it depends on who you are logged in as and who you are trying to log in as (and whether you have logged in recently within the last few minutes).
    The host command won't support this kind of interaction. It needs to be a command that returns its results without requiring any further prompting.
    That would be my guess.

    Edited by: Cema on May 22, 2009 12:14 PM

    Hi Cema,
    In MLR 10 these two bugs have been added with others (you can see in patch read me file)-
    8432093 - AUTOMATE THE POST PATCH INSTRUCTION SCRIPTS FROM MLR 10 ONWARDS
    8339176 - B2B PURGE_RUNTIME PROCEDURE DOES NOT DELETE ALL TIP_WIREMESSAGE_RT RECORDS
    Bug 8432093 tells clearly that there is no need of running any post installation script from MLR 10 onwards, so you have not missed anything like post installation script.
    Bug 8339176 has addressed the PURGE_RUNTIME functionality for deleting messages. From your earlier posts it seems that you got some errors while applying this patch. Please make sure that patch is successfully installed on your system.

  • RME 4.0.6 - Archive Purge not working

    Hi,
    I have noticed that our archive purge job is failing completely, for all devices, and it appears to have been failing for some time now.
    Looking at the meesage apeparing in the Job Details for one of the devices I get:
    *** Device Details for mydevice ***
    Protocol ==> Unknown / Not Applicable
    Unable to get results of job execution for device. Retry the job after increasing the job result wait time using the option:Resource Manager Essentials -> Admin -> Config Mgmt -> Archive Mgmt ->Fetch Settings
    The Maximum time to wait for job results per device is set to 120 seconds.
    This may explain why the job takes several days to run if every device is timing out after 2 minutes.
    My assumption, obviously incorrect, is that the purge would just go through the database and look for any archives older than a year, which is what we have set the purge options to be. This message implies that RME is trying to connect to each device.
    Is it trying to connect to each device?
    Next question would be where do I start looking so that I can fix this.
    Regards
    Jeff

    Hi Joe
    Thanks for the response. I have made the change as suggested as disabled and then re-enabled the job, so I now have it running as 8597 instead of 1106.
    JobManager.properties:
    ConfigJobManager.jobFileStorage=/rme/jobs
    ConfigJobManager.debugLevel=0
    ConfigJobManager.enableCorba=true
    ConfigJobManager.heapsize=384m
    I set this running at 9:50 this morning, and with the time now at 4:14 in the afternoon, there does not seem to be a lot happening still. If I look at the job details, all devices are in the Pending list - no Successful, or failed.
    If I look at the ..\CSCOpx\files\rme\jobs\ArchivePurge\8597\1\log file i have:

  • Sudo does not work...

    Hi I have created a new user and added them to the wheel group but they are still not able to use the sudo command. how can I fix this?

    You need to set up sudo. The default configuration doesn't give any rights to any group or user.
    As root type
    visudo
    There you will see some examples.
    You are also encouraged to read the sudo man page.

  • ADR auto purge not working

    Hi all,
    I've got a problem with one of our databases as it is not automatically purging the diagnostic data.
    Other databases on the same node are auto purging fine.
    ADR base = "/databases"
    adrci> show control
    ADR Home = /databases/diag/rdbms/prbo10/PRBO10-50:
    ADRID SHORTP_POLICY LONGP_POLICY LAST_MOD_TIME LAST_AUTOPRG_TIME LAST_MANUPRG_TIME ADRDIR_VERSION ADRSCHM_VERSION ADRSCHMV_SUMMARY ADRALERT_VERSION CREATE_TIME

    As you can see the last time auto purge ran was December 20th.
    All the policies are set to their defaults.
    The database has already been restarted a couple of times since december 20th, so that didn't fix anything.
    Does anyone have an idea why the auto purge is not "running" for this particular database and if there is anything I can do to fix it?
    Regards,
    Lauris

    Thank you for the information Srini. I had actually reviewed these ids. Our problem is that one one of our RAC databases (2 instances) neither instance is running the autopurge. I don't know if there is a way to "restart" the autopurge or if I should simply run a manual purge from each instance to clean up the files that have been generated for the last couple of months. I tested running a manual purge on a dev database. I just ran "purge" with no other parameters. I'm assuming the "purge" command will use whatever shortp_policy is in place when I issue the "show control" command.
    I have not issued "purge" from adrci on the production system yet because I'm still testing and learning about the command. I'm trying to find out if it affects anything else or if I can safely run it. Since I'm using the default settings in the "show control" command, my guess is that a manual purge from each instance will leave me with 30 days worth of diagnostic files on the system. If I try this, my hope is that the auto purge will re-engage. Do you have any thoughts? Thanks again for your input on this.

    If you installed MongoDB, AND if the instructions had to modify your .profile (or perhaps .bash_profile), then either their instructions were wrong, or you missed a step, which explains why you can not enter commands are not found
    PATH is a Unix environment variable that contains a colon separate list of directories where the shell will look for commands when you enter them at the command prompt.
    So your choices are delete the offending .profile (or perhaps .bash_profile) and forget about MongoDB, or if you do need MongoDB, then fix your .profile (or .bash_profile) so it has a properly formed PATH environment variable.
    Fixing this would look like
    /bin/ls -a         # this will show you all the files starting with a period (dot) as in .profile or .bash_profile
    /usr/bin/nano .profile
    now in this text editor use the arrow keys, and the delete key to find and delete offending text, then type in the corrected text.  Nano gives you a menu at the botton of the editor with additional commands.  ^O (Control-O) writes out any changes you made.  ^X (Control-X) exits from Nano.
    You want your PATH variable to look like (REMEMBER UPPER/lowercase is IMPORTANT)  ALSO spaces or nospaces are important.
    export PATH="/usr/local/mongodb-osx-x86_64-1.8.2:$PATH"
    NOTICE there is a colon between the MongoDB directory path, and the $PATH.  The $PATH will append your existing PATH to the end of the new PATH environment variable you are setting up.  The entire PATH string is enclosed in double quotes.  ALSO NOTICE, there is only 1 space between export and PATH.  No spaces anywhere else in the line.
    Again, I used .profile as the most likely file name, HOWEVER, your shell will look for 1 of 3 different initialization files starting with
    .bash_profile
    .bash_login
    .profile
    If will use the first file it finds in the above order and stop looking as soon as it finds a match.  So it is important that you edit the correct file.  The
    /bin/ls -a
    command will tell you want leading period filenames exist in your home directory
    I'll also give you one word of caution.  When playing on the Unix side of Mac OS X, and following instructions you do not understand, it is generally wise to have a very recent full backup of your system.  There are some commands that can make your system unusable should you enter them blindly.

  • Automatic purging in HDS not working

    Hi,
    In my lab environment for POC, automatic purging for HDS database is not working even though registry values have modified accordingly. Only few tables get purged and not for Termination Call Detail and Route Call Detail tables.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi uma,
    check your sdm logs , you may find some error over there because after successful  activation thats the place where your deployment is started on, so check like the sdm password is working . Also to test this deploy small test webdynpro application from nwds directly using sdm password. If this is successful ,check your NWDI memory and also the server on which your portal dev.you should have enough space on this.
    Thanks,

  • Facetime HD Camera not working. Resert SMC or sudo kill does not work

    Please help me.
    Thanks alot!
    I have tried to reset the SMC and doing a sudo kill on the VDCAssistant.
    Both do not work.

    voxk,
    it sounds like it’s time to make an appointment with your closest Apple store — perhaps the cable that connects the camera to the logic board needs to be replaced (which is probably something that the Apple Hardware Test can’t detect).

    It appears that you may not have a properly installed OS X system.
    You must be connected to the Internet to reinstall OS X.
    In the menu bar, choose Apple menu > Restart. Once your Mac restarts (and the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.
    Select “Disk Utility,” and then click Continue.
    Select your startup disk from the list on the left, and then Repair Disk.
    After disk is repaired, select Reinstall OS X, then click Continue.
    Follow the onscreen instructions. In the pane where you select a disk, select your current OS X disk
