Suggested number of print pages

Is there a limit on the number of print pages RH9 can publish? I know it's gone up from 100, but I thought I read 700-800 pages. I can't seem to get past about 350 pages.
Windows 7, RH9, Word 2010

There is no specific limit that I am aware of. It's more about the content and your machine. Lots of images might not help.
Generate to your local drive if you are not already doing that.
350 should be OK and sometimes one topic can cause issues. Is it stalling at the same point? Have you tried using two layouts each with one half? At worst you may have to have two layouts and then combine them back in Word but trying that might identify a rogue topic if one layout still gives grief.

• XSL-FO for Standard Purchase Order, doesn't print page number

Hi,
I worked on XSL-FO code to custom the PDF output for Standard PO. Everything works great: I added company logo (in a different position of the standard commented code <!-- Too easy just to uncomment... :-)--> ), i created new attribute sets to highlight some elements on the print, I added a footer with company details and document type and number (instead of placing this in the header, the costumer didn't like it where it was..)
OK. BUT: the page number at the bottom on the right isn't printed anymore. For example: if the PO page is n.1 of 2 pages, it comes only '12' and not Page 1 of 2. So i tought not to use the original template (tihs one)
<!-- Template for displaying the page numbers -->
<!-- bug#3836856: Template for displaying the page numbers at right bottom of the page -->
<xsl:template name="pageNumber">
<xsl:variable name="po_page">
<xsl:value-of select="$BOILER_PLATE_MESSAGES_OBJ[MESSAGE='PO_FO_PAGE'][1]/TEXT"/>
</xsl:variable>
<!-- Get the String before the PAGE_NUM token -->
<xsl:variable name="string_before_page_num">
<!-- <xsl:value-of select="substring-before($po_page,'&PAGE_NUM')"/>-->
<xsl:value-of select="substring-before($po_page,'Pag.;PAGE_NUM')"/>
</xsl:variable>
<!-- Get the String after the PAGE_NUM token -->
<xsl:variable name="string_after_page_num">
<!-- <xsl:value-of select="substring-after($po_page,'&PAGE_NUM')"/>-->
<xsl:value-of select="substring-after($po_page,'/ ;PAGE_NUM')"/>
</xsl:variable> ......
but inseriting a select just where I want the page num to be displayed (see code)
<fo:block xsl:use-attribute-sets="test_style" >
<xsl:value-of select="$BOILER_PLATE_MESSAGES_OBJ[MESSAGE='PO_FO_PAGE'][1]/TEXT"/>
</fo:block>
but this gave me as result 'Page &PAGE_NUM of &END_PAGE'.
Where did I do wrong?? It's like the PO_FO_PAGE message is not dinamically insered in the PDF. Hope I've been clear enough and somene can help me. Thaks in advance, Michele

Hi Michele:
I can check out for you how to print page number in XSL-FO (There is an O'Reilly) book, but I think I help you better by recommending a different strategy - Don't write XSL-FO stylesheets. While Purchasing does not support RTF templates you can still write RTF templates and convert them to FO using the XML Publisher Template Builder for Word.
Download the matching Template Builder for Word (5.0) or XML Publisher Desktop 5.5 (includes the Template Builder) patch and then Create your template as an RTF template.
You can then EXPORT the template as XSL-FO stylesheet and upload as to Purchasing AS LONG AS THE VERSION OF THE DESKTOP and E-Businees Suite XML Publisher MATCH.
If you still want to write XSL stylesheet, you can just use the Template Builder to generate you the code and paste the code (e.g. for page numbers) into your stylesheet.
By the way - Purchasing will support RTF templates in future versions...
Hope that helps,
Klaus

• On Yosemite how do I get Pages to print the page number on every page, not just on alternate ones?

I only changed from Windows to an iMac earlier this year (now on Yosemite), but cannot get Pages to print the page number on every page; it seems only to do it on alternate pages.

Jeff,
I do NOT understand your positive attitude. If someone has a problem with Numbers in Yosemite, you tell them to resurrect a pre-Yosemite version of Numbers.
The VIEW LAYOUT command is basic and critical to Numbers; how could Apple over-look such an important function in Yosemite ... ???

• How can i define the number of pdf-pages that will be print on each page?

Hey everyone,
im currently working on a handout for my prensentation.
That handout will be downloadable for everyone.
So, here is the problem:
I have 24 pages in pdf. I want them to fit on 4 printed pages.
In order to have everyone exactly 6 pdf-pages each printed page,
it'd be nice to have a pre-setting for that.
I found some settings for duplex-print but thats not what i need.
Thank You!
Jo

ne, das weiß ich. mir gehts darum wie ich das als standard-druckeinstellung speichern kann...

• Printing page numbers in an ALV report with multiple grids

Hi,
I have developed a report using OO ALV GRID. The output is having multiple grids navigated using a menu button appended to the standard tool bar
(Ref report: BCALV_GRID_07). On navigation, we are able to display specific titles when each grid is displayed.
When we print those individual pages (the grids), we are able to print the page numbers and the title for the first grid but when we display the next grid and print, we are unable to initialise the page number
and print specific title. The page numbers continues from the last printing.
I am looking at identifying the grid when the print event - PRINT_TOP_OF_PAGE is triggered so that a grid specific title can be printed and also page number initialised.
Any suggestions is highly appreciated.
Thanks.
Mani.

You cannot have one event for all the grids as you cannot identify for which grid the event has fired. You need to activate the event for each of the grid and handle the code independently.

Ravi

• How to print page numbers in adobe form

Hi,
Can anybody tell me how to print page numbers in adobe form.
Thanks in advance
Chaitanya

Hi,
Yes the field page n of m is used normally for printing page numbers. But it won't display the current page of total pages by itself. You have to set the run time property to n (current page ) and m (Total number of pages). Carefully select the # (current page ) and ## (Total number of pages). Hope this works for you.
My requirement is to have the user control on current page. For Example:
Example for a Invoice with 5 PO items (stands on 2 pages) :
1st page is the letter : no page number
2nd page is the 1st page of the 1st copy of the invoice : we should read u201C1 / 2u201D
3rd page is the 2nd page of the 1st copy of the invoice : we should read u201C2 / 2u201D
4th page is the 1st page of the 2nd copy of the invoice : we should read u201C1 / 2u201D
5th page is the 2nd page of the 2nd copy of the invoice : we should read u201C2 / 2u201D
Presently i cam getting the current page number for page 4th as 3 / 2 and for 5th page 4 / 2. I could able to control the total number of pages from print program. But when i am printing the second copy (4th and 5th pages), I couldn't able to control the current page number. I need to initialize the Current page count (4th page ) as 1.
I have used the follwing java scripting:
this.rawValue = wv_pages - xfa.layout.page(this)
where wv_pages is total no of pages calculated from print program.
Please help me in this regard with some formcal or java scripting conditions.
Thank You,
Regards,
Naresh.

• Printing Page Numbers - From To

Please can you help me.
I am exporting a Crystal Report to PDF per customer through vb code.
I need to print a maximum number of pages (that will fit in an envelope e.g. 20) and then continue printing his data into a second PDF where it left off.
Therefore I am trying to print out the crystal report in my VB.NET code by specifying a "Page From" and a "Page To". How can I do this??
For example I want to be able to say Print out pages 1 to 20
Then print out 21 to 40 but the page count in the 2nd report should say (1 to 20)
Thanks
Ric

Don,
Thanks for your help.
Your solution to resetting page counts in the report might be part of a solution...
First of all - How can I reset the page counts within a formula?
However my problem is a little more complex...
In my VB code, I output the Crystal Report as a PDF file.
However in the example I gave, where the customer has 30 pages, I need to generate 2 PDF files.
The first PDF will be called CUSTXYZ_1.PDF (contains pages 1 to 20).
The second PDF will be called CUSTXYZ_2.PDF (contains pages 21 to 30 but numbered as 1 to 10).
I still need to find a way to output one report as 2 PDFs with pages 1 to 20 in the first pdf
followed by 21 to 30 in the 2nd PDF.
Maybe in my vb code i need to find a way to say:
Print Pages 1 to 20 in one PDF
Then Print Pages 21 to 40 in the second PDF
I am not sure how I can do that...
Any more ideas??
Ric

• How to allow domain users to customize Adobe PDF printer page size in Printer Preferences

Hi
I am able to customize Adobe PDF printer page size in Printer Preferences in admin login but not able to customize Adobe PDF printer page size in domian users login...
can I have a solution to customize Adobe PDF printer page size in domin user login

WOW! I was amazed to see that within minutes of posting my initial thread, I tried something that works.
Apparently, the only way is will actually convert is if you select the regular Print option in the File tab. Then, change the Printer to Adobe PDF & the Paper Size to 11x17. It also worked for 36"x48" becuase I created a custom size named "Poster", so I changed the paper size to Poster & it worked!
I hope this helps someone. I searched for an existing forum on this issue off & on for MONTHS before creating this thread. If anyone has any suggestions why the Adobe PDF tab /PDF Maker wouldn't work, I'd like to know.

• How to print page numbers like 'Page 2 of 10' on an ALV report

Hi,
I've seen a few threads regarding this, but haven't seen any code that actually works.
What I'd like to do is print page x of y (i.e. Page 2 of 10) on an ALV report once the report is printed.
Is this actually possible? If so, what are the steps and coding required?
I greatly appreciate your help experts!
Mark

Hi Mark,
I think there is no better way than calculate it before doing the output. If you do not have extra-new-page, the total number of pages may be calculated as the number of lines displayed divided by lines on one page - this will depend on the lines used for top-of-page and end-of-page. Also filters and subtotals could not be used.
An other approach could be to read the current page number in end-of-list event and then scan the whole list using READ LIST and MODIFY LIST in each page top accordingly.
Because it is decades ago I printed a list last time I will never have the chance to try.

Clemens

how to print page no/total pges in report programing?

Hi
This is an example:
In TOP-OF-PAGE you can write:
WRITE: SY-PAGNO, '/', '-----'.
When the program has finished to print all data, run a routine like this:
Declare a variable
DATA: L_PAGE_COUNT(5) TYPE C,
V_LINE TYPE I. "The line where page number is written
* In my example I suppose the page number is always
* written in the first row of the page.
V_LINE = 1.
* Copy this code to the end of program
* Page count will be printed on each page here
WRITE sy-pagno TO l_page_count LEFT-JUSTIFIED.
DO sy-pagno TIMES.
READ LINE V_LINE OF PAGE sy-index.
REPLACE '-----' WITH l_page_count INTO sy-lisel.
MODIFY CURRENT LINE.
ADD 1 TO sy-index.
