Suggestion for a [wiki] tag in the forum BBCode

So...would it be possible to have something like
[wiki=HAL]this[/wiki]
and have it work like  the normal url bbcode, except for the wiki?
[url=wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HAL]this[/url]
Maybe not KISS, but definately useful

Alright, I have a (somewhat messy) patch for fluxBB 1.2.22.
281,296d280
< //
< //Turns a [wiki=pagename]link[/wiki] bbcode into <a href="http://wikibase/pagename">link</a>
< //
< function handle_wiki_tag($pagename, $link = '')
< {
< global $pun_user;
<
< $wikiurl = 'http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/';
<
< $full_url = str_replace(' ', '_', $wikiurl.$pagename);
<
< $link = ($link == '' || $link == $pagename) ? ((strlen($pagename) > 55) ? substr($pagename, 0 , 39).' … '.substr($pagename, -10) : $pagename) : stripslashes($link);
<
< return '<a href="'.$full_url.'">'.$link.'</a>';
< }
<
337,339c321
< '#\[color=([a-zA-Z]*|\#?[0-9a-fA-F]{6})](.*?)\[/color\]#s',
< '#\[wiki\]([^\[<]*?)\[/wiki\]#e',
< '#\[wiki=([^\[<]*?)\](.*?)\[/wiki\]#e');
> '#\[color=([a-zA-Z]*|\#?[0-9a-fA-F]{6})](.*?)\[/color\]#s');
348,350c330
< '<span style="color: $1">$2</span>',
< 'handle_wiki_tag(\'$1\')',
< 'handle_wiki_tag(\'$1\', \'$2\')');
> '<span style="color: $1">$2</span>');
It is based on the handle_url_tag function and supports the following syntax:
[wiki]Arch Linux[/wiki] (returns <a href="http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Linux">Arch Linux</a>)
[wiki=Arch Linux]Somesuch[/wiki] (returns <a href="http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Linux">Somesuch</a>)
EDIT: The above patch is for /include/parser.php

  • Suggestions for how I can get the new purchases currently trapped on my iPod transferred to iTunes?

    I recently bought an iPod touch and had no trouble loading all the existing music I have in iTunes to my new iPod.  The problem is that no matter what I try I cannot transfer purchases I made on the new iPod into iTunes.  Every time I try, "Transfer Purchases" is greyed out.  As a result the seven tracks that I bought on the iPod are trapped on the device.  I can't get them into iTunes.  Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get the seven new purchases currently trapped on my iPod transferred to iTunes?
    I've tried suggestions from multiple support forums, and nothing has worked.  Does anyone know why "Transfer Purchases" would be greyed out and how I can fix it so I can get the music purchases from the device to the computer.  Before anyone asks, this has not happened with any other Apple device I have owned, including my iPhone 4 8GB, iPod Touch 2nd Gen 32GB, iPad 1st Gen 64GB, and iPad 2 64GB.  Why is it suddenly happening now?
    My new iPod is an iPod Touch 5th generation 64GB  using iOS 7.1.2, and iTunes is version 11.
    I've never had this problem before.  It's driving me nuts.  Any help is very much appreciated.

    Does iTunes see the iPod?
    Is the computer authorized for the account that purchased the items?

  • A Suggestion for Skype to consider regarding the T...

    Hello, I have a suggestion for Skype. When I look at my "Purchase History" in my Skype account it no longer shows the time my order was placed. Not having this information makes it difficult managing my subscription.
    I would like to see Skype include the time a transaction was made in the "Purchase History" .
    Thanks.

    Elitist is not the right word... But your expected to do you part too.
    I honestly think the "The Arch Way" wiki lays it out pretty damn well.
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/The_Arch_Way
    Read that, if it sounds good you will likely enjoy arch. If it sounds bad, yeah arch may be bad for you.
    Truth is the wiki is fantastic, and dedicated people have spent an amazing amount of time putting it together... So for ALMOST EVERYTHING there is detailed step by step information that basically will fix your problem. You just need to read it, understand it and possibly even research on your own the parts you don't understand.
    When people just come to the forum and ask to be told directly instead, yeah we may seem elitist expecting they know enough to figure it out on their own... But that is only because the community already wrote out a really really detailed explanation for them, but they just wanted someone else to do the work/troubleshooting for them. Its a bit weird to ask stranger to care more about your problems then you do
    But, detailed and specific questions are met with wonderful and fantastic help. This is the most stable and functional distro/operating system I have ever run (in part because after "building" it its pretty easy to fix.)
    This ISN'T a newbie distro in that its not for people who just want a working computer for minimal effort... That doesn't mean its hard mean or bad, but it does mean its targeted towards serious users who want to be able to build and fix their own system. A certain standard is expected (and I really like that), its not hard to meet it.... But if you don't want anything expected of you you may not want arch. Reading a paying attention can make it more or less an easy and fruitful experience for even novice users however.

  • Suggestions for improvements to tagging tool.

    It would be great to have the ability to list the words and what tags  to be applied to them and then have story auto-tag just the user defined words automatically in the whole script.
    Also having a way to bulk edit all the tags so you could eliminate all tags to a particular word for the entire script if story tags a word it shouldn't.
    Keyboard shortcuts to quickly add tags would be great.
    A way to find a particular word in the script, tag it and move to the next instance of the word and tag it with a minimum of clicks or keystrokes would be great.
    The tagging feature is really useful  but  it can definitely be made more efficient and the bulk editing capability improved to make it easier to work with the whole script.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Thanks for taking time out to provide your feedback.
    We do have some of the features you have suggested to an extent (with tagging panel and lists) but yes they can definitely be enhanced. Will add these to our feature backlog.
    Meanwhile, it would be great to hear from you on some other features that you use in Story
    Thanks

  • How Do I Find the Full URL for Linking to Messages in the Forum

    What is the best way to find the URL that links directly to a message I've posted in the forum?
    When I receive an e-mail notifying me that a reply has been posted in a thread I'm subscribe to, there is a link to that reply in a format similar to https://support.mozilla.com/questions/862631'''#answer-279005'''. I discovered that if I hover my mouse over the '''Helpful / Not Helpful''' buttons next to each message when I'm using '''IE9 as my browser''', the specific answer # assigned to any message can be viewed in the status bar at the bottom of the screen (e.g., https://support.mozilla.com/questions/862631/'''vote/279005'''), but I can't figure out how to do this in Firefox.
    Most other forums I post in assign a number to each message in a thread (e.g., message 7 of 25) that has the URL link embedded so that you simply right-click on the message number and choose '''"Copy Link Location"''' to obtain the direct URL for any message.

    Adobe Reader Touch (Windows Store app with "modern" UI) is not really accessible.
    If you have a device running the Windows 8 operating system (as opposed to the Windows RT operating system), you can install and run Adobe Reader XI (desktop app with classic UI), which offers better accessibility support for screen readers.  It also has the "Read Out Loud" functionality.

  • This is for you: "New people to the forum"

    Some of us have been here a while...
    I kind of come and go, depending on where I'm at.
    These forums were instrumental in my java education...
    When I first came to these forums, I did not know how to ask questions... people were REALLY patient and REALLY helpful when I finally tried to answer my questions, or tried to solve my problems, and became stuck.
    We are all volunteers on this forum. Usually, what sets us off are obvious homework questions (either coding projects or obvious test/homework questions), people who post vague or misleading question titles, people who post questions without having sought an answer, .. things like that... things that basically are people trying to get by, doing no work..
    Why would that upset us? Because we, often times, worked hard... we wanted it badly enough, and we did it. This feeling of entitlement that children have today frustrates us... this overall feeling of somebody "owing" you something, that somebody else's time couldn't possibly be as valuable to them as it is to you...
    None of us HAVE to come here. We are all, I think, giving back to the community that taught us Java, or at least helped us out when we're stuck.
    Think about that before you snap back. You come here to visit, but we live here.

    I don't feel I am a "REGULAR", but I try to visit the forum and participate as much as I can, but I can just hope I could give back anything. Though the motivations may vary but I would say coming here is not a pay back exercise but a learning process and learning I guess never ends, and sometimes I end up learning from newbies so I don't mind helping them learn either. So I strongly disagree to the notion of providing a service to community by coming here.
    Think about that before you snap back. You come here

    No hard feelings.

  • Suggestion for a new tag: htmlId

    So far I know the there is no standarized way how the rendered HTML ids are genereated from the JSF ids. Now there are a lot of usefull JavaScript programs which need the (HTML-)id of an input field.
    What do you think of a tag (let's say <h:htmlId>) that simply makes this translation and emits the the HTML id? This tag could then be used like this:
    <h:form id="myForm">
      Date: <input_text id="birthday"/>
      <a   href="#"
           onclick=" myJavaScriptFunction('<h:htmlId for='birthday'/>'); ">
        Date entry helper
      </a>
    </h:form>In the RI this might be rendered as:
      <a   href="#"
           onclick=" myJavaScriptFunction('myForm:birthday'); ">
        Date entry helper
      </a>  Beside the mandantory attribute 'for' I could imagine an optional naming container (-path).
    I undestand that in a perfect world there will be a good JSF component for everything, but until then such a tag might be a useful bridge to legacy technologies.
    Wolfgang Oellinger

    A JSP 2.0 EL function would be more appropriate. JSF itself cannot yet provide such a function, as JSF 1.0 cannot depend on JSP 2.0, but someone else should be able to provide it.

    I just want to let people know the Marware MacBook protection package is great for the wrist area of your MacBook.
    I had my cover replaced for discoloration 3 times and that was one to many times!
    So...

    Thanks for the reply.
    Have tried repairing via pcc, also done a factory reset, disabled some apps and cleared the cache on a few other apps.
    Also, tried using different browsers like opera, dolphin and all not being able to play flash properly mainly on youtube.
    The only time a youtube vid played properly through the desktop site was when I set the quality of the video to the lowest possible (something like 350p) ?

  • Anyone have any suggestions for additions or changes to the FAQ list?

    Does anyone have anything that they'd like to see added or changed in this forum's FAQ list?

    This may be worth a pointer:
    In some circumstances, like in my case where I had AE installed and due to a problem with Itunes I was advised to uninstall and re-install quicktime.  After doing so, when starting AE it reports that it cannot find a compatible version of quicktime and will have to turn off quicktime functions.
    I found out it is caused by the  file `QTCF.dll', not being in AEs' support files.   The cure is to find that file in quicktimes installed folder and move it to AE support files.
    Full details and paths etc can be found in this explanatory
         thread

    PS - That thead references CS3 but I had the problem on CS4 and the same cure worked for me.

  • Any Suggestions for reducing battery useage on the Magic Mouse?

    Hello. I find that I seem to be changing batteries frequently on my wireless Apple Magic Mouse. Are there any suggestions to help with this, ie: would it help to shut the mouse off overnight or would the savings be minimal?
    The Apple wireless keyboard is not a big user of battery power.
    Thanks for any tips.
    Message was edited by: whiskey sour

    Thanks den.thed. That discussion was LONG one! It did however cover a lot of areas and there did seem to be valid links indicating that Apple indicated the batteries would last up to 4 months. Someone indicated that it doesnt do any good to turn the mouse or keyboard off as they go into some type of auto sleep if not in use. I may try rechargeable batteries Nimh after these present alkalines run out. I have used Sanyo Eneloop in my camera after recommendations on a camera site and have found them extremely long lasting in the camera so that may also be the case in the mouse. They are only 2000 maH but are real performers.
    The mouse problem isnt really a big one and I can live with it, but thought if I was doing something wrong, I could rectify it. Thanks for the links.

  • I have an iPod touch, and an update was suggested for my iPod. After the update, all my pictures and videos were wiped. I need some of those pictures for a science lab due in a few days. Is ther any possible way for me to get my pictures back?

    Help! I just lost all my pictures by doing an update and I NEED them for school. How do I get them back?!

    - If they are in an iPod backup then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If they are in the iTunes backup then get them from the backup by:
    Recover iPhone, iPad or iPod photos from backups with Picturescue
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:
    iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
    - If they were synced to the iPod then you have to get then from where they were synced from.

    I plan to visit Ireland, England and France with my 2 granddauters in July & August. I normally use "Skype to Go" and a subscription on a monthly/3 month basis to communicate with my family in Ireland from the US. What I want to do now for July & August is. 1. Be able to communicate by phone using Landline & Cell from Ireland, England & France to my Family in the US  Would I have to have a Skype to Go number in each country that I'm in ( Ireland, England & France) ? 2. In order for my family to communicate from the US with me while I'm in Europe. I will convert the subscription I presently have (for Ireland) to a Europian subscription and authorise my US families phones to use my Skype to Go account that I have in the US.!

    Apple is not a wireless carrier or reseller.
    They only deal with people buying/upgrading devices.
    If you want service, go to a carrier.

  • Mic suggestions for recording guitar/voice over the air?

    Hey Folks,
    I have an acoustic guitar and would like to buy a mic that would do a decent job of recording both the guitar and my voice. Is there anything in the $50 or less price range? As you can tell, I'm not serious, but would like something a step up from the internal mic.
    Thanks!

    you can take a look at the USB mics here:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/Microphones.html
    but the low end model would probably be a step up only because it won't pick up the HD and fan noises of the computer, if you can swing $79, the middle one should get nicer sound
