Suggestion for how to make text more legible with line in background?

I want to create a dashed line that connects a bunch of text located inside a text box. However, the dashed line seems to conflict a bit with the text visually, making it difficult to read. I sent the line to the back and put small white rectangles behind the text to block the line, though I am going to have lots of these, and it is a pain. Anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

The white stroke is more a movie sub title thing and like in the movies does not always work.
Try this and see if you like it
select the text with a selection tool
add a new fill of white and drag the fill below the characters in th appearance panel
the highlight the new fill in the appearance panel
then go to Effect>Convert to Shape>Rectangle
give it  2pts extra relative space
below with the new fill converted not visible
withe the new fill converted to a rectangle visible
The problem with this method and the extra stroke method is that they are not transparent and if you place an object below them you will see the stroke or
fill
You can vary the gaps and fills until you get the right combination but that might be very difficult unless you simply vary the placement of the  text.

  • Any suggestions for how to make this text look amazing?

    Hey guys,
    I'm a newbie at photoshop and I've recently started learning to run this blog that I create called Cultural Facts of the Day.
    I am developing a graphic style for some of the stories that I post and I'm looking for advice on how to better some of the images on text. I have this one photo I am working on now. I'm using a Futura and gothic text, but I'm looking for inspiration or a tutorial on how to optimize text lay out on an image like this. I just want to put it out there that I am willing to pay for Skype tutorials if anyone wants to help me out!
    This is what I'm working with and what I have so far:
    My inspiration so far has been this Time article:

    If the only thing you need to do efficiently is appending an object to the end of file, then quick & dirty solution follows
    static void addObject(Object o,File f)throws IOException{
    RandomAccessFile raf=new RandomAccessFile(f);
    raf.seek(f.length());
    ObjectOutputStream out=new ObjectOutputStream(new RAFOutputStream(raf));
    out.write(obj);
    out.close();
    static Vector readAll(File f)throws IOException{
    ObjectInputStream in=new ObjectInputStream(new FileInputStream(f));
    Vector v=new Vector();
    Object obj;
    while((obj=in.readObject())!=null){
    v.addElement(obj);
    return v;
    class RAFOutputStream extends OutputStream{
    private RandomAccessFile raf;
    RAFOutputStream(RandomAccessFile raf){
    this.raf=raf;
    public void write(int b)throws IOException{
    raf.write(b);
    public void close()throws IOException{
    raf.close();
    }

  • How to make text clicks go with the volume?

    My old iPod 3G used to make text typing sounds according to my volume. So if my volume was off there would be no text noises but with my new iPod touch the texting sounds are there regardless.  What do I do?

  • Hello Anybody, I have a question. Can any of you please suggest me how to make an xml file from the database table with all the rows? Note:- I am having the XSD Schema file and the resulted XML file should be in that XSD format only.

    Hello Anybody, I have a question. Can any of you please suggest me how to make an xml file from the database table with all the records?
    Note:- I am having the XSD Schema file and the resulted XML file should be in that XSD format only.

    The Oracle documentation has a good overview of the options available
    Generating XML Data from the Database
    Without knowing your version, I just picked 11.2, so you made need to look for that chapter in the documentation for your version to find applicable information.
    You can also find some information in XML DB FAQ

    Well working is good...
    The code itself is less than spectacular I'm afraid. There is very little
    OOness to this. For your future reference when you complete a program
    and it consists of nothing but static methods you have done something
    incorrectly.
    As far as the code you do have goes some refactoring would be nice.
    The two main methods you have (proj1 but especially processData) are
    too long and unwieldy. processData seems to be a program in an of
    itself. It's complicated and hard to follow.
    My recommendation to you would be to read this http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/index.html
    Especially focus on the sections dealing with explanation of Object
    programming. These terms and concepts can certainly be confusing to
    new programmers so you may also want to consider finding yourself a
    tutor to help you get a better grasp of these concepts.
    In short if it works that's good. And it's also good to see that you put the
    effort and time in that you have. However if I was grading your project
    I'd give it a C- at best because this is a Java program in syntax only.

  • How to make text/objects move nonlinear speed on AE CC?

    Hi,
    I was wondering two questions:
    1) how to make "text holders" that has small animation. Here is an example from a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oSWt84VoAg (0:41).
    2) how to move objects with increasing speed and soft slow down. I know how to change speed, but how to make it so that it is only accelerating and slowing down? Same examle can be found from the clip above with the place holders and texts.
    Thank you for your help. If there is same kind of discussion going on please let me know. I could not find it.

    All of what you want to do comes down to the fine art of learning how to magle curves in the graph editor, which is nothing you can learn from just watching totorials. You learn it by doing and collecting experience.

    I am working on AQ where I am just sending and receiving simple messages. But the performance is very poor. It takes around 35 seconds to send (enqueue) just 100 messages which is not acceptable for our project. Can someone help me how to make it more efficient. I am using JMS for sending and receiving messages.
    Thanks,
    Sateesh

    Bhagath,
    Thanks for your help.
    Oracle server we are using is 8.1.7. We are using JDBC client that ships with Oracle client (classes12.zip).
    Right now we are working on point to point messages.
    I am just wondering whether I need to do any tuning on server.
    Your help is greately appreciated.
    Here I am pasting sample code that I wrote which may help in finding the problem.
    Thank you so much once again for your help.

  • How to make text start at the top of a page in livecycle 9

    Hi, How can I get the text in a large text field to start at the top left of the field rather than at the center of the field? In addition, may one know how to make text wrap in the form as well?
    Thanks,
    David

    To set the Text alignment properties use "Paragraph" pallet you can make it visible by selecting Window>>Paragraph or Shift+F5
    And to allow text wrapping you need to select "Allow Multiple Lines" checkbox under "Object" pallet and "Field" tab. You can make Object pallet visible by selecting Window>>Object or Shift+F7.
    Good Luck,

  • Suggestions for how I can get the new purchases currently trapped on my iPod transferred to iTunes?

    I recently bought an iPod touch and had no trouble loading all the existing music I have in iTunes to my new iPod.  The problem is that no matter what I try I cannot transfer purchases I made on the new iPod into iTunes.  Every time I try, "Transfer Purchases" is greyed out.  As a result the seven tracks that I bought on the iPod are trapped on the device.  I can't get them into iTunes.  Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can get the seven new purchases currently trapped on my iPod transferred to iTunes?
    I've tried suggestions from multiple support forums, and nothing has worked.  Does anyone know why "Transfer Purchases" would be greyed out and how I can fix it so I can get the music purchases from the device to the computer.  Before anyone asks, this has not happened with any other Apple device I have owned, including my iPhone 4 8GB, iPod Touch 2nd Gen 32GB, iPad 1st Gen 64GB, and iPad 2 64GB.  Why is it suddenly happening now?
    My new iPod is an iPod Touch 5th generation 64GB  using iOS 7.1.2, and iTunes is version 11.
    I've never had this problem before.  It's driving me nuts.  Any help is very much appreciated.

    Does iTunes see the iPod?
    Is the computer authorized for the account that purchased the items?

  • How to make text columns with adobe muse

    Hi,How to make text columns with adobe muse (like InDesign)?

    Multiple columns can be acheived with CSS - http://www.w3schools.com/css/css3_multiple_columns.asp
    div
    -moz-column-count:3; /* Firefox */
    -webkit-column-count:3; /* Safari and Chrome */
    column-count:3;
    I'm surprised that Muse does not support text columns yet, but perhaps the custom CSS can be added in style tags on page properties. Haven't tried it, but don't see why it wouldn't work.

    I removed my domain from iWeb and have lost the ability to make changes to my website.  Yes, it was a dumb thing to do.  Putting the domain back into iWeb doesn't "take."  In the past I could do this (don't recall which version of OS permitted this).
