Sum HH:MM:SS in Sql Server

I have searched and came out with no concrete answer on the best way to sum up hours, minute and seconds in using T_Sql.
I have a query like below
SELECT TaxPayer
, STR(SUM(Elapsed)/3600)
+ RIGHT(CONVERT(char(8),DATEADD(s,SUM(Elapsed),0),108),6)AS Elapsed
-- , ISNULL(SUM(Elapsed),0) AS Elapsed
FROM (
SELECT TaxPayerID AS CallRef
, TaxPayer
, CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),DateTimeOn,101) AS StartDate
, CONVERT(VARCHAR(8),DateTimeOn,108) AS StartTime
, CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),DateTimeOff,101) AS FinishedDate
, CONVERT(VARCHAR(8),DateTimeOff,108) AS FinishedTime
, CONVERT(VARCHAR(6), DATEDIFF(second, A.DateTimeOn, A.DateTimeOff)/3600)
+ ':'
+ RIGHT('0' + CONVERT(VARCHAR(2), (DATEDIFF(second, A.DateTimeOn, A.DateTimeOff) % 3600) / 60), 2)
+ ':'
+ RIGHT('0' + CONVERT(VARCHAR(2), DATEDIFF(second, A.DateTimeOn, A.DateTimeOff) % 60), 2) AS Elapsed
FROM dbo.TestTable A WITH(NOLOCK)
WHERE ProblemID > 0
)AS B
GROUP BY TaxPayerID
, TaxPayer
How do I sum up Elapsed in H:M:S format?
Thank you
Zionlite

(Sum(Fields!TIME.Value.TotalSeconds) / 3600) & ":"
& ((Sum(Fields!TIME.Value.TotalSeconds) Mod 3600) / 60) & ":"
& ((Sum(Fields!TIME.Value.TotalSeconds) Mod 3600) Mod 60)

    Hi ,
i am writing this function in oracle.Could you please convert this function in SQL Server 2000 because i am new in this and dont know how to use decode function in sql.
Please following is the code for oracle.
CREATE OR REPLACE function fun ( localex varchar2,titlex varchar2)
    return number
    as  x number;
    begin
    select sum ( decode (count (username),max(prereq_count),1,0) ) x into x from
       SELECT
                       prereq_count,
                       username
                 FROM
                         table1
    group by     username ;
    return x;
    end fun;
    Regards

Just take a look example below might give you idea :
create or replace function f_makeAddress_tx (
    i_address_tx VARCHAR2,
    i_city_tx VARCHAR2,
    i_state_tx VARCHAR2,
    i_zip_tx VARCHAR2)
    return VARCHAR2
    is
    e_badZip EXCEPTION; u279E8
    pragma EXCEPTION_init(e_badZip,-20998); u279E9
    v_out_tx VARCHAR2(256);
    begin
    p_validateZip (i_zip_tx); u279E12
    v_out_tx:= i_address_tx||u2019, u2018|| u279E13

  • Unable to reinstall SQL server 2005

Previously, I have installed SQL 2005 developer edition simplyfied chinese
successfully. But yesterday, I tried to install mobile client software
factory. The installation process create a database as following:
    Create DATABASE [AdventureWorksMobileStaging] ON  PRIMARY
    ( NAME = N'AdventureWorksMobileStaging', FILENAME = N'C:\GotDotNet\MCSF_728\ReferenceImplementations\AdventureWorksToGo\DBScripts\AdventureWorksMobileStaging.mdf' , SIZE = 195584KB , MAXSIZE = UNLIMITED, FILEGROWTH = 1024KB )
    ( NAME = N'AdventureWorksMobileStaging_log', FILENAME = N'C:\GotDotNet\MCSF_728\ReferenceImplementations\AdventureWorksToGo\DBScripts\AdventureWorksMobileStaging_log.ldf' , SIZE = 265344KB , MAXSIZE = 2048GB , FILEGROWTH = 10%)
But today, when I start my notebook, SQL server could not be started.
Then I uninstalled the SQL instance by start->control panel->uninstall...The uninstall
process seems OK. Note that I only uninstalled the instance. Then I tried to reinstall
SQL 2005. However it was reported a Performance Monitor Counter registry key mismatch
error occures. I tried to fix it but failed. The problem is as following:
1, The installation process report a warning of low memory.
My notebook has 512M memory. I have reinstalled SQL 2005 once successfully. At that
time, the warning also shows, but it seems that this warning does not affect installation.
    2, User type problem.
The OS of my notebook is XP professional, which is upgraded from XP home edition.
I login it using a domain user such as: "my company's domain\myaccount". I found it
curiously that although I assign myaccount as an Administrator, it will automaticly
changed to "SQL$...." account. I don't know why and when the account property is
changed. But everytime, when I found, I will assign myaccount as an Administrator
    back.
3, Performance Monitor Counter registry key  problem.
To fix the problem, I firstly tried to run lodctr.exe in cmd window but failed.
When I cd to c:\windows\system32 dir, I can ran lodctr.exe correctly.
    I check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib,
    the result is:
    "Last Counter"=dword:0000149c (11128)
    "Last Help"=dword:0000149d (11129)
    Then I check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib\009
and 004, the result is confusing. I can find counter and help key,but both keys contains
really a lot of stuff as:
    (1) first page of Counter key:
    1
    1847
    2
    System
    4
    Memory
    6
    % Processor Time
    10
    File Read Operations/sec
    12
    (2) first page of Help key:
    3
The System performance object consists of counters that apply to more than one instance of a component processors on the computer.
    5
The Memory performance object  consists of counters that describe the behavior of physical and virtual memory on the computer.  Physical memory is the amount of random access memory on the computer.  Virtual memory consists of the space in physical memory and on disk.  Many of the memory counters monitor paging, which is the movement of pages of code and data between disk and physical memory.  Excessive paging, a symptom of a memory shortage, can cause delays which interfere with all system processes.
    7
% Processor Time is the percentage of elapsed time that the processor spends to execute a non-Idle thread. It is calculated by measuring the duration of the idle thread is active in the sample interval, and subtracting that time from interval duration.  (Each processor has an idle thread that consumes cycles when no other threads are ready to run). This counter is the primary indicator of processor activity, and displays the average percentage of busy time observed during the sample interval. It is calculated by monitoring the time that the service is inactive, and subtracting that value from 100%.
    9
% Total DPC Time is the average percentage of time that all processors spend receiving and servicing deferred procedure calls (DPCs).  (DPCs are interrupts that run at a lower priority than the standard interrupts). It is the sum of Processor: % DPC Time for all processors on the computer, divided by the number of processors.  System: % Total DPC Time is a component of System: % Total Privileged Time because DPCs are executed in privileged mode.  DPCs are counted separately and are not a component of the interrupt count.  This counter displays the average busy time as a percentage of the sample time.
    11
File Read Operations/sec is the combined rate of file system read requests to all devices on the computer, including requests to read from the file system cache.  It is measured in numbers of reads.  This counter displays the difference between the values observed in the last two samples, divided by the duration of the sample interval.
I could not find the maximum value of the Counter key and help key, so I could not repair
Last Counter and Last Help key as discribed at SQL 2005 help. Which item correspond to
maximum value of the Counter key and help key?
I tried to correct Last Counter and Help key as:
    "Last Counter"=dword:0000149c (5276)
    "Last Help"=dword:0000149d (5277)
    But it also doesn't work.

    Anybody still want this answered?

  • How to fix a report textbox aggregate expression error in SQL server reporting with multiple datasets?

I have a SQL Server Reporting Services report that has a textbox within a Report with variations of the following expression
    =Sum(IiF(Fields!RegisterID.Value = 6000, 1, 0)
    and
    Iif(Fields!PointID.Value = 500, 1, 0)) / Sum(Iif(Fields!PointID.Value = 500, 1, 0))
I see the following error when I try to preview the report:
The Value expression for the text box ‘Textbox2’ uses an aggregate expression without a scope. A scope is required for all aggregates used outside of a data region unless the report contains exactly one dataset.
What am I missing in this this expression to make it run incorrectly

Can you include dataset name in your sum functions? e.g. Sum(IiF(Fields!RegisterID.Value = 6000, 1, 0)
    and
    Iif(Fields!PointID.Value = 500, 1, 0)) should include your dataset name as Sum(IiF(Fields!RegisterID.Value = 6000, 1, 0) and Iif(Fields!PointID.Value = 500, 1, 0),"datasetname")Like wise  Sum(Iif(Fields!PointID.Value = 500, 1, 0))  should also have dataset name Sum(Iif(Fields!PointID.Value = 500, 1, 0),"datasetname")

  • Isse with using Grouping Sets in SQL Server 2008 R2

    Hi,
I created a query in SQL Server 2012 using grouping sets that works fine.  When I try to use the same query in SQL Server 2008 I get an error ("Inccorrect syntax near SETS").
I researched using grouping sets in 2008 and didn't see any issue with my query.  What is different in grouping sets 2008 vs 2012?
SELECT tl.ClientRegionCd as [Client Region Code] , tl.ClientRegionDesc as [Region Name], count(tl.CompleteICN) as [Trauma Letters Sent]
    from TORT_Trauma_Letters tl
    Where CONVERT(VARCHAR(26), tl.SecondNoticeSent, 23) between '2014-06-12' and '2014-06-12'
    GROUP BY GROUPING SETS((tl.ClientRegionCd, tl.ClientRegionDesc), ())

For your result you can simply achieve your result with UNION ALL, e.g.
    select Client, Region, Letters
    from myTable
    UNION ALL
select NULL, NULL, SUM(letters) as Letters

  • Error attaching Adventureworks 2008 db to SQL Server 2008 [not R2]

    Hi ppl,
I have SQL Server 2008[NOT R2] installed in my laptop [Windows Vista Home Premium, 64 bit].
    There are 2 issues:
    1. Downloaded the AdventureWorks 2008_SR4 from the link :
     http://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/releases/view/37109 .
but wasn't able to install it due to an error - database Installer stopped working and had to close the program.
Hence my friend installed it his laptop and sent me the .mdf and .ldf files.
    2. I tried attaching the databases using SSMS2008, but it is showing Error:
TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
Attach database failed for Server 'xxxxxx'.  (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
    For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&ProdVer=10.0.1600.22+((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414+)&EvtSrc=Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.ExceptionTemplates.FailedOperationExceptionText&EvtID=Attach+database+Server&LinkId=20476
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)
The database 'AdventureWorksDW2008' cannot be opened because it is version 661. This server supports version 655 and earlier. A downgrade path is not supported.
Could not open new database 'AdventureWorksDW2008'. CREATE DATABASE is aborted. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 948)
    For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=948&LinkId=20476
    BUTTONS:
    OK
I have checked the version of sql server opened in SSMS and it is 2008 itself
I cannot find any other Non R2 AdventureWorks file for 2008.
Any help would be appreciated greatly.
    Thanks,
    Chips.

    Hello Chips,
database version 655 is SQL Server 2008, 661
is SQL Server 2008 R2, so your friend send you a database file of a newer version, which you can't attach to a older version. I guess your friend uses 2008R2, the database is upgraded automatically to this version.
Have a deeper look at CodePlex, Version 2008 is still available there.

  • Service-specific error code -2146885628- MS SQL Server 2008 r2 Express

I have had no end of problems starting my MS SQL Server 2008 r2 Express.
My database program (Sage ACT! Pro 2011) starts fine. However when it attempts to start my default database, I get the following error message:
When I start my database within my application software (ACT Pro 2011) , I get the following error:
I am not abler to open any database with in ACT 2011. This error tells me that I must manually start SQL Server. I am running Windows 7 Pro, SP1. So I go to Services, and right click on SQL Server (ACT7) and click start and get the following error:
I have contacted Swiftpage and spent 2 hours on the phone with their technical support. They manually (via remote desktop connection) deleted ACT Pro 2011 and manually deleted SQL Server 2008 r2 Express (in registry and all files and folders).
I decided to upgrade, so ACT Pro v16 was installed. SQL Server still would not start automatically or manually. The ACT technical support person, after two very long hours said: that it is not an ACT problem, that I would need to turn to Microsoft for
a resolution as to why SQL Server will not start, and how to remedy this issue.
I hope someone can offer help or point me in the direction to get this very bad problem resolved. I cannot work without my CRM! can someone help?
    Thanks!

  • Install SQL Server 2008 R2 in Windows Server 2012 using SQL4SAP Script

    Hi guys,
Since we are performing a SAP System Migration from older releases of Windows/SQL Server, as detailed on SAP Note
1780433 - System copy of SAP systems on Windows 2012 : SQL Server
We need to install SQL Server 2008 R2 before upgrading the system
When running SQL4SAP Script it states the following
    17/03/2014 08:13:44 p.m.
    Message Box "Windows version error"
OS Family "WindowsNT6.3" is not supported by this script.
    Result: vbOK
On Windows 2012 should i run the SETUP instead the script?
    Thanks!

    Hi Sunny
Im following SAP Note 1780433 - System copy of SAP systems on Windows 2012 : SQL Server
in order to migrate a SAP 640 system from Windows 2003/SQL Server 2005 to Windows 2012/ SQL Server 2012
    Reason and Prerequisites
This note describes how to migrate the mentioned SAP products to Windows 2012/SQL Server 2008 R2,
in order to prepare an upgrade to SAP releases based on NW 7.0 and higher.
Note, that only SAP upgrade paths are supported, that are supported by the SUM tool. For more
information about the upgrade paths supported by SUM, read the Central SUM Note referred to at
    http://www.service.sap.com/SLToolset.
Immediately after the SAP upgrade, your database has to be upgraded to SQL Server 2012. SAP does in general not support SQL Server releases prior to SQL Server 2012 on Windows 2012.
I understand this is not supported from Productive system, we are performing this on a Development system for test purposes.
Nevertheless on the note says Install First SQL Server 2008 R2 and after SAP upgrade, perform upgrade of SQL Server Upgrade, so there is misleasing information.
Im not sure if a 640 System would be able to copied and upgraded in Windows 2012/SQL Server 2012
It doesnt mention that 640_EX2 Kernel Support SQL Server 2012 to install the system.
How would yo recommend a system copy restoring database on these conditions?
    640 System (SQL Server 2005,Win 2003) --> 640 System (SQL Server 2012, Win 2012)
    (and then Upgrading to 740)
    Thanks

  • How to hide not all but a specific database on a SQL Server 2008 R2 instance?

    Hello everyone,
I need help from all the SQL Server database security experts out there. Any solution/help or work-around will be really appreciated. Here is the scenario; our client is using our application which is a windows forms application
having in backend as a database under SQL Server 2008 R2 instance. We have successfully installed the SQL Server software with mixed mode authentication on client side, our application is running smoothly and everything is working fine. Our database on which
application is running is quite intuitive, in the sense, all employees information is stored in EmployeeMaster and all departments information is stored in DepartmentMaster and so on. It consists of more than 500 such tables, stored-procedures and views. We
have encrypted stored-procedures and views, problem is only with tables.
We don't want table structure to be visible to anybody in SSMS (or tables must be hidden from all the users) but at the same time the tables should be accessible from the application. And we don't want to go with the option of encrypting
the tables data and changing the names of all the tables to T001,T002..etc. as that is not feasible. And one last thing, we cannot restrict 'sa' login's password, it has to be shared with the client.
    Regards,
    Sumit R. Santani

Also, will you please enlighten me more on what you said as "couple of choices" if I want to lock out plain users only?
Assuming that you are selling a solution to a client, it's more an issue for your client's IT department, that do want their users to connect with Excel or SSMS.
Anyway, I have a brief overview here:
    http://www.sommarskog.se/grantperm.html#Othermethods
Again my question on that is how much reliable will be that license agreement?
That depends on the lawyer you engage to write the license agreement.
How would I come to know what they are doing with our database?
Trust. Trust is extremely important. It is very difficult to make business if you don't trust people.
That said, there are basically two reasons you want to hide the application from the client. One is protecting intellectual property. To this end, I know of nothing else than trust. And maybe after all, your application is not so fantastic that it is worth
    stealing anyway.
The other reason is that you don't want the client to change it, and then open a free support case when he has messed up. To this end there are some technical approaches you can take to detect such tampering. For instance, you can sign all stored procedures
with certificates using ADD SIGNATURE WITH SIGNED BLOB, and then ship only the public key of the certificate. This permits SQL Server to verify the signature, but the client cannot change the signature and sign it with that certificate, because the private
key is not available to them.

  • Tables missing in SQL Server 2008 for Hyperion Application

    Hello Experts,
I am cuurently working on Hyperion Finacial close management (Account Reconciliation Manager) application version 11.1.2.3, O.S is Windows 2008 R2 and relational database is SQL Server 2008.
When I am trying to copy Account Profiles to a period say go to Manage->Periods->Right Click->Copy to Periods, I get the error:
    Object arm_access is missing.
When I open SQL server studio, I can clearly see table 'ARM_ACCESS' but when I did a search on oracle support and google, I found out that it is a case sensitive issue and the table has to be in small letters.
So I created a new table 'arm_access' with all columns as there are in 'ARM_ACCESS' in SQL Server 2008, but it is not fetching any data.
Can anyone provide me the query that I can run to display the same structure and data for 'arm_access'?
If anyone is using the instance, he/she should be able to provide me the query that I can run in SQL server 2008 to populate the 'arm_access' table.
Appreciate your help as this is stopping my development work.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sumit

    Hi Sumit,
Its just a wild guess am not sure with this.
i dont have idea about query in sql server. but it oracle it would be something like create table targettablename as select * from sourcetablename.
Ideally it will not allow to create you a table with that name if its already exists i mean its case insensitive (. Even if you have created manually make sure the db user you created with has select privilage granted for all users or the user you configured in Financial close management) or the DB might not be having select privilage .
Note:Have backups in place when you are manually to manipulate or changing the database user.
    Thanks
    Amith

  • Need clear steps for doing performance tuning on SQL Server 2008 R2 (DB Engine, Reporting Services and Integration Services)

We have to inverstigate about a reporting solution where things are getting slow (may be material, database design, network matters).
I have red a lot in MSDN and some books about performance tuning on SQL Server 2008 R2 (or other) but frankly, I feel a little lost in all that stuff
I'am looking for practical steps in order to do the tuning. Someone had like a recipe for that : a success story...
My (brain storm) Methodology should follow these steps:
Resource bottlenecks: CPU, memory, and I/O bottlenecks
     tempdb bottlenecks
A slow-running user query : Missing indexes, statistics,...
Use performance counters : there are many, can one give us the list of the most important
how to do fine tuning about SQL Server configuration
    SSRS, SSIS configuration ?
    And do the recommandations.
    Thanks

    Hello,
There is no clear defined step which can be categorized as step by step to performance tuning.Your first goal is to find out cause or drill down to factor causing slowness of SQL server it can be poorly written query ,missing indexes, outdated stats.RAM crunch
CPU crunch so on and so forth.
I generally refer to below doc for SQL server tuning
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd672789(v=sql.100).aspx

  • EHP2 - EHP7 Upgrade Path using SQL Server 2012/Win Server 2012 R2

    Hi Guys.
I have question regarging Upgrade Roadmap for a ERP 6 EHP2 system based on NW 7.01 which I would like to Upgrade to ERP6 EHP7 SP7
    Source System is
    Windows 2012
    SQL Server 2008 R2
    EHP2 for ERP 6.0 SPS Level 14
    Target System
    Windows 2012
    SQL Server 2012
    EHP7 for ERP 6.0 SP 7 based on NW 7.4 SP 9
During Upgrade checks it says I must Upgrade Database first before continue since DB Release is too low for NW 7.4 SP9 as stated in Note
1951491 - Minimal DB system platform requirements for SAP NetWeaver 7.4 SP08
So, at this point I agree i have to update SQL Server to 2012 before next step
Now, my concern is that my Source System does not have the minimum NW SP level (14) to run under SQL Server 2012 which is 26.
Im currently running SAP Kernel 721 EXT Level 401 which is above mininum
According to Note 1651862 - Release planning for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 that would not be possible
Existing systems of SAP products that are out of SAP maintenance can be upgraded to SQL Server 2012 in order to prepare a SAP upgrade, if they match the SAP NetWeaver Support Package requirements defined below.
SAP products prior to SAP NetWeaver 7.0 are not supported at all on SQL Server 2012.
Required minimum SAP Netweaver Support Package Stacks (SPSs) for SQL Server 2012 (SAP ABAP, SAP ABAP+JAVA stacks)
    SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 - SPS 26 (SAP BASIS 26, SAP BW 28)
SAP EHP1 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 - SPS 11 (SAP BASIS 11, SAP BW 11)
SAP EHP2 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 - SPS 11 (SAP BASIS 11, SAP BW 11)
SAP EHP3 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 - SPS 03 (SAP BASIS 03, SAP BW 03)
    SAP NETWEAVER 7.1 - SPS 14 (SAP BASIS SP14)
    SAP EHP1 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.1 EhP1 - SPS 10(SAP BASIS SP10, SAP BW SP10)
SAP NetWeaver 7.2 - no restriction
    SAP NETWEAVER 7.3 - SPS 07 (SAP BASIS 07, SAP BW 07)
SAP EHP1 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.3 - SPS 03 (SAP BASIS 03, SAP BW 03)
If your system is running on a SPS lower than the one required above, you have to apply the minimum required SPS before upgrading/migrating to SQL Server 2012.
If you install a NetWeaver product on SQL Server 2012, the required SPS for your product must be applied immediately after the installation - see SAP note 1676665, section I for more information.
But performing the Upgrade would be technically possible? I mean not for productive use but technicaly during that time the Database is Upgrade and during SUM Execution.
According to the note it states if you install a Netweaver Product in SQL Server 2012, SPS must be applied immediately, so is kinda ambigous what SAP is saying.
    Best
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
For a test scenario, there's no harm in trying it (other than spending a lot of time on it, but hopefully that will prove not to be a waste). Generally, I expect you'll be fine upgrading your DBMS even though you aren't on the required minimum SP yet. The main thing you'll be missing out on is the updates to DBACOCKPIT, but once you do your EhP upgrade (with sps update included), you'll be putting that in place.
So, you could try this on your sandbox system and see if there are any problems. I assume the intent is to start the EhP upgrade as soon as the DBMS upgrade is done, right? In other words, you won't be actually using the system without the required SP except to run the EhP upgrade?
Alternatively, you could do a minimal support pack update, perhaps just a Basis SP only, to the minimum SP needed for your current release, then do the DBMS upgrade, then proceed with the EhP upgrade. This would be the safest procedure, but, as I said, I expect you can probably get away without going to this level without much problem. Again, the idea would be minimizing the time between the start and end of the total project on each system (DEV, QAS, PRD, etc).
    Regards,
    Matt
