Please any one tel me about Sun Java security problems
with Desktop application

Hi.
If you're using SSGD 4.41, please download the Admin guide from here:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4907
There, at page #41 you'll find useful info concerning "Client Connections and Security Warnings".
Hope this helps,

  • Desktop Integration Portlet and Sun Java Runtime problem

    Hi,
    The DIP works just fine in our test portal (10.1.4) if users have the Sun Java installed and enabled. The problem is that we have another application in our company that requires that Sun Java NOT be enabled. Does anyone know of a workaround, or a way to modify the portlet to get around this issue?
    Thanks.

    Well, the DIP internally uses a java applet which will then scan the preferred folder. I know that this is a little too late for an answer, I was just searching on DIP when I saw this post.

  • Urgent help java security problem

    hi,
    i am trying to run simple message example in tahiti but all the time i got this error:
    java.security.AccessControlException: acces denied (com.ibm.aglets.security.contextPermission atp://mycomputername:4434/@ReplyChild create) java.lang.NullPointerException
    please i have to submit this code iknow it is right but what is the problem??why i am getting this error??please help

    Well what you are doing is trying to access a local file from an Applet, an operation that won't be permitted by the default applet security model.
    I guess what you want is to fetch the file from a directory related to the path of the applet classes. To do this you need to use the URL class and the associated constructors of the ImageIcon class. To form the URL to the image file:
    String fileName="warning.gif";
    URL codeBase= this.getCodeBase();
    URL imageURL= new URL(codeBase, fileName);
    ImageIcon warning = new ImageIcon(imageURL);

  • Safari & Java security

    Iv read most of the information that's come out recently on the security loop hole with Java on most browsers including Safari.
    However, my job work site requires Java to do "anything" in the company web pages. If I disable Java or do any of the suggested items to keep Java from working then the company website won't work. Is there any way to get around this Java security problem until Apple gets the holes fixed?
    I work for a company with over 100'000 employees so I'm not an isolated case.
    Thanks for any hints what if anything I can do.

    If you're accessing company pages on the intranet you have nothing to be worried about (unless people in your company are hosting malicious web pages, which I doubt )
    The problem can only potentially happen when you visit a compromised site that attempts to launch a Java Web start application or applet. A remote attacker cannot target you just because Java is active - you must visit a site.
    By the way, you may already know this but for the benefit of others reading, Java and JavaScript have nothing in common (other than the name). The flaw highlighted in the news recently only affects Java.

  • Problem deploying war created in Sun Java Studio Enterprise 8

    I have, with some help from this forum, converted a portlet application from the Sun Java Studio Enterprise 7 environment to the Sun Java
    Studio Enterprise 8 environment. This portlet application runs in SJSE 8 now but fails when I pdeploy it to the portal server (Portal Server 6
    2005 Q1). The old war created from SJSE 6 does work. The code is identical. The war files are slightly different.
    On deployment I get:

    |#]When I remove my custom channel the desktop renders normally.
    As I mentioned before, the war created with 7 did not cause this and the application behaved normally.
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    I am going to look at the diff between the two wars.

  • How deploy the EJB in security on the Sun Java System Application Server 9?

    I hava deploied a simple Hello EJB Object on PE 9(Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 9). I can use this EJB object without user name an password On any client. See the following code section:
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              try{
                   Properties props = System.getProperties();
                   props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sun.enterprise.naming.SerialInitContextFactory");
                   props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"iiop://localhost:3700");
                   Context ctx = new InitialContext(props);
                   Hello h = (Hello) ctx.lookup("ejb/test/Hello");
                   System.out.println(h.sayHello());
              }catch(Exception e){
                   e.printStackTrace();
    Please tell me how deploy the EJB in security on the Sun Java System Application Server 9? So that, The client must set the user name and password when lookup the ejb object. Like the following:
    props.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL,"admin")
    props.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS,"1234");

    Guys,
    I too have the same issue. If anyone has an answer, please let me know.
    Is this GlassFish problem? or Prgram issue?

    Also, I have enabled the "Default Principal To Role Mapping"
    BTW, I'm able to run other EJB3 examples [that does'nt involve any
    security features] without any problems.

  • User Role problems in Sun Java Application Server Platform Edition 8

    I am having two problems setting up user roles in Sun Java Application Server Platform Edition 8. At first, I thought that it was a problem with the higher level features that I was using, so I created a very simple example using the simplest authentication I can use, but the problem still occurs. I am using the file realm and configuring the users in the App Server Admin Console. I create 2 users in different roles. One user should have access, the other should not.
    1) The first problem is that both users can access the page
    2) The second problem is that the isUserInRole() method returns false for both users with the role that it should be authenticating against.
    Here is a sample of my code:
    Users Configured in Console:
    username password roles
    user1 ********** admin
    user2 ********** noaccess
    web.xml
         <security-role>
              <role-name>admin</role-name>
         </security-role>
         <security-constraint>
              <web-resource-collection>
                   <web-resource-name>My Protected Area</web-resource-name>
                   <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
              </web-resource-collection>
              <auth-constraint>
                   <role-name>admin</role-name>
              </auth-constraint>
              <user-data-constraint>
                   <transport-guarantee>NONE</transport-guarantee>
              </user-data-constraint>
         </security-constraint>
         <login-config>
              <auth-method>BASIC</auth-method>
              <realm-name>file</realm-name>
         </login-config>
         <servlet>
              <servlet-name>
                   TestServlet
              </servlet-name>
              <servlet-class>
                   mypackage.TestServlet
              </servlet-class>
              <security-role-ref>
                   <role-name>admin</role-name>
                   <role-link>admin</role-link>
              </security-role-ref>
         </servlet>
         <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name>
                   TestServlet
              </servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>
                   /TestServlet
              </url-pattern>
         </servlet-mapping>
    TestServlet.java:
              out.println("admin role: " + request.isUserInRole("admin") + "<BR/>");
    Thanks before hand for any responses.

    Hi Jeanfrancois,
    Your suggestion has lead me to find my problem. There were actually three problems.
    1) First, you suggestion to reorder my xml file did not cause any errors to occur. I got suspicious that my web.xml file was wrong. I looked at some sample web-xml files and found that I was missing the header as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN' 'http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_3.dtd'>
    2) When I added this information, the deploy feature failed stating the my web.xml file was out of order. I fixed the ordering. It now deployed, but the security still wasn't working.
    3) I then added the sun-web.xml file. This file was missing before hand as I thought it was unnessary. However, this file added the essential mapping from a role to a group. After adding this, it now started to work.
    Thanks so much for you time and effort. You really did help me.

  • A Java security or permissions problem?

    First of all, I don't know much about Java, even its naming and version numbering nomenclature, and second, if there is a better group to ask this in, please let me know.
    System is Mac with 10.4.4. I have Java 1.3.1, 1.4.2, and J2SE 5.0 (1.5.0) installed. The Java preferences application lets me choose J2SE 5 or 1.4.2 to run applets via a browser. The problem happens in both settings.
    The problem is that we have a printer that serves a little Java-based management application to view history and otherwise manage it. When I hit the IP, I get the Java coffee cup for a few moments, then a blank area. It fails in both Safari and Internet Explorer.
    I'm pretty sure this used to work in OS X 10.4.3. It works from Windows which has runtime 1.4.something.
    In the Java console, I get the following. (I've snipped some lines.)

    This appears like a permissions problem, but I've fixed permissions several times.
    Any idea what the problem is, and is it fixable from my end?

    Problem has finally -- over a year later -- just gone away.

  • Import a certificate into Sun/Java/Deployment/security/trusted.clientcerts

    Hi I'm trying to make a java applet, it has to add a certificate in the Keystore Sun/Java/Deployment/security/trusted.clientcerts.
    The problem is that to store, I have to enter a password. I enter "". ToCharArray () but when I try to view the certificates, it does not appear in the java control panel.
    And when I try to import a certificate from the java control panel throws the following error "keystore was tampered with or password was incorrect".
    Code:
    private void guardarKeyStore(KeyStore ks) throws KeyStoreException, IOException, NoSuchAlgorithmException, CertificateException{
    FileOutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(System.getenv("APPDATA").replace("\\", "/")+"/Sun/Java/Deployment/security/trusted.clientcerts");
    ks.setCertificateEntry("someAlias", decodeCertificate(somebase64));
    ks.store(out, "".toCharArray());
    out.close();
    }

    This certificate have to appear in the java control panel. (Security->Certificates->user->client autentication)
    Why that? Because i need to do an applet that download a certificate response from a request to a CA.Which to paraphrase EJP is undesirable, insecure and untrustworthy. What you are asking would allow an untrustworthy site to declare itself trustworthy.

    it seems that you have not uninstalled the previous entire installation. You can clear all installation manually. first, you need remove all information about your previour installation in "/var/sadm/install/productregistry" file, and then deleted the previous installation directory , now suppose you can reinstall it successfully again, good luck!

  • Sun Java Communications Sync Problem

    hello,
    I have windows VISTA and i installed "Sun Java Communications Sync" on it.
    When i click in Outlook the "synchronize" tab then "Configure menu" to configure my calendar an Address Bokk settings, it gives me the error "Unable to login to synch engine".
    If i open the program after installation from the program menu, it gives me "Invalid user name" error.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Is there any workaround to resolve the problem? If you meant to say that events with a start-date of less then 1970 don't get synchronised, then no, there is no workaround. This is a fundamental limitation of Unix timestamps as used by the calendar server to represents event dates.
    2)
    To clarify, the problem with Cyrillic characters becoming corrupted occurs when you sync contacts which exists only on the windows mobile device to the server-side addressbook? --- Yes it is
    Does this corruption occur if you synchronise a contact created on the server to the windows mobile client? ---- only birthday is wrong on pocket after syncThe birthday being incorrect is likely to be a different issues.
    A quick search didn't reveal any existing reports of the behaviour you are seeing and I have no way to reproduce the problem myself to investigate further so I suggest once again logging a Sun support case for these two issues (birthday & Cyrillic character corruption).

  • Java & security/Privacy Problem

    Hello
    wonder if you could help or give advice
    (An idiots answer for a idiot like me is prefered)
    when using a fully Anonymous proxy even with
    (Cookie via java script:;Private )
    web Browser and sun java shows your real IP in java ip
    fetch scripts and makes direct connect to your private box
    {For Example:}
    http://www.rental-web.com/~azuma/cgi-bin/env.cgi
    yet Internet Explorer and MS-Java with the same webpage and
    the same proxy loads the applet but blocks the ip fetch
    and just shows "UnKnown" in the java applet
    is there anyway of altering the sun java install to give
    the same security/privacy ?
    Hope You can help as i would like use sun java
    but this one small thing is putting me off as my firewall probes
    with scripted webpages is annoying
    Thanks

    Or can i maybe edit the sun java install so all java

    instead of it being able to circumnavigate the proxy

    Hi,
    Does anyone knows whether XWS-Security API is integrated into Sun Java Studio Enterprise?
    I can't find the information anywhere in the java site. If there happens to be one, could you let me know about it?
    Thanks in advance :)

    XWS-Security is not integrated with Sun Java Studio Enterprise. However, if you would like to implement message level security in a web service in the Java Studion Enterprise environment, you may find this article useful:

    Hi,
    I have a Forms application using WebUtil which works fine under Oracle jinitiator for years. It works with both MS IE and Mozilla Firefox (some other browsers were also successfully tested). Now when Mozilla released Firefox 3.6 requiring next generation Java (http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2010/01/firefox_36_ebs.html) Oracle jinitiator (Java version 1.3.1.22) cannot work and I was forced to download and install the latest JRE plugin version (http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u18-windows-i586.cab). This happens on the very first call to WebUtil function in the ON-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger.
    My questions are:
    - May I configure WebUtil for both jinitiator and Sun Java plugin usage?
    - What is missed in jpi configuration preventing WebUtil normal execution?
    Thank you in advance,
    Ilia

    Hi All,
    Thank you for your responds.
    The following separate configuration section is used in this situation:
    [jpiadm280]
    baseHTMLJInitiator=basejpi.htm
    envFile=InPlan.2.80.env
    pageTitle=InMind Administration Utilities v. 2.80
    width=950
    height=680
    form=CEDB_main_menu
    background=/forms/java/fls_bgnd
    logo=/forms/java/fls_logo
    splashScreen=no
    lookAndFeel=oracle
    colorScheme=teal
    imageBase=codeBase
    WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar_
    WebUtilLogging=off
    WebUtilLoggingDetail=normal
    WebUtilErrorMode=Alert
    WebUtilDispatchMonitorInterval=5
    WebUtilTrustInternal=true
    WebUtilMaxTransferSize=16384
    baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljpi.htm
    baseHTMLjpi=webutiljpi.htm
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,fls_icons.jar,FormsGraph.jar
    archive=frmall.jar
    otherparams=useSDI=no
    jpi_classid=clsid:CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0018-ABCDEFFEDCBA
    jpi_codebase=http://java.sun.com/update/1.6.0/jinstall-6u18-windows-i586.cab#Version=1,6,0,18
    jpi_mimetype=application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.6.0_18
    Please see highlighted with bold parameters to make sure that all recommendations were taken into account. Nevertheless the error message shows that CApiFunctions.class was not found and this class is within frmwebutil.jar, which is also referred within this configuration section (highlighted with bold undrline). So it looks like a sort of incompatibility of frmwebutil.jar with Sun JRE plugin 1.6.0_18. Do I need another version of frmwebutil.jar to run with next generation Java?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ilia
