Super Easy Tomcat 4.0 question

I have a bunch of JSPs at d:\rhhshn\ (Tomcat is on the same drive). How can I get them to compile and run? It was like two lines of code in Tomcat 3.2 but 4.0 is literally several dozen and cut-and-paste didn't work.
My classpath is already set for the classes that the JSPs will need and Tomcat is properly serving its own JSP examples.

frustrated sigh Well does anybody know how to do it in Tomcat 3.2?

    But that doesn't answer your question.
    Think there was a very similar question on here a week or so ago, Effective permission showed one thing but usable permissions were different (more restrictive). I can't remember if the solution ended up being getting the users to logoff and on again or if the server had to be rebooted.
    I started without full control but added it to see if allowed them to delete files/folders. I did read the thread you were referring to before posting, I believe it was the gpupdate /force ?, and re logging in the user, but that wasnt a solution for me.beta wrote:What are the Share permissions (not the NTFS permissions). So recently a systems administrator at corporate restructured the file share at the campus I was just hired to cover. Nobody has really said anything to me about it in the two weeks I've been there because they arnt used to having someone in IT around.Well I went to a department and asked if there was anything that they needed from me since I was waiting on a few things on my side. They indicated that they havnt had access to their files for a few weeks.I took a look at their department share on our file server and the only groups that had access to the files of their departments root directory were domain admins. I added their departments group with full control using ntfs permissions and watched it recursively add them to all the files.Maybe I'm missing something, but none of them have access to delete files / subfolders after the...

  • Really super easy question

    How do I have an array of multiple types?
    [multipletypecommand] my array[]={
    int thingy1,
    char thingy2,
    String anotherthingy,}
    something like that???
    thanks

    That IS easy:
    use Vector (see the API). And for the primitive types, use Wrapper classes, like Integer for integers (also in the API).

  • Easy JNDI + Connection Pool Question

    This is an easy question:
    Once I get the object represented by my connection pool from the
    Weblogic JNDI tree, how do I get a connection from the returned object
    of type weblogic.common.internal.ResourceAllocator?
    I keep getting ClassCastExceptions. I have tried
    ConnectionPoolDataSource, Connection, and DataSource.
    String conPool = "weblogic.jdbc.connectionPool.demoPool";
    try {
    Object obj = ctx.lookup(conPool);
    msg(DEBUG,"FROM LOOKUP" + obj.getClass().getName());
    //DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup(conPool);
    //con = ds.getConnection();

    DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup(conPool);I think, you must use narrow operation:
    Object reference = ctx.lookup(conPool);
    DataSource ds =
    (DataSource) PortableRemoteObject.narrow (ds,DataSource.class);
    I haven't got time to check it, but I hope that works.

  • Apache - mod_jk - tomcat site filesystem question

    hi all
    we finished today to set up apache+mod_jk+tomcat togheter
    we done it because in this way apache will serve static pages and tomcat jsp + servlet right?
    now, a (maybe stupid) question:
    how to make apache serve static pages and tomcat jsp & servlets? shall we divide our site into two directories (one, with static pages and the other with servlet and jsp) or there is a way to map our site under tomcat and apache in order to avoid such a division?
    thanx a lot
    sandro

    thanx a lot for your answer
    but i need another suggestion:
    lets imagine i have my little site with this directory sistem:
    directory "mysite"
    here a lot of *.htm files and a directory named "dinamic" containing all the dinamic content (*.jsp and the WEB-INF/classes/*.class files)
    now my question is:
    can I leave this structure intact or shall i divide the *.htm files from the dinamic content?
    what do the standard tell?

  • Version Sets - This must be super easy

    I've been using PS Elements 5.0 for a while now but only the basics.
    Recently I downloaded a trial version of DXO Optics Pro to optimize the quality of the photos (especially RAW files) from my DSLR.
    I setup DXO as an alternate Editor program in PSE 5.0
    When I edit the photo in DXO and leave DXO, close the external editor, then an enhanced copy of that image is saved in my catalog.
    Here is the question, which I would have thought would have been obvious but I couldn't find or figure out the answer myself:
    Is there a simple way to have that photo show up right beside the original in my PSE organizer? I was unable to tag the original file and the enhanced file to be in a version set. And, I have used version sets in the past but always with photos from the same date of import.
    I haven't tried but I guess I could download some utility to modify the file date of the DXO enhanced image but that surely can't be the only way.
    I simply want to keep the original but have the enhanced version displayed as the top photo in the version set.
    While I'm asking, is there a better way to use the DXO plug-in? I tried the export function in PSE 5.0 but it got me confused and I ended up setting DXO as my secondary editor instead.
    Thanks!

    Tricia is correct. However, you may be asking another question, too. If you edit in photoshop, then your edited copies will appear in the organizer after you save them, either as a version set or not depending on what you check off on the window that appears as you save the edited picture. However, if you use another editor the edited copy you create will not automatically get into the organizer. Instead you need to save the edited copy, then go back to the organizer and import the picture into the organzier from your hard drive. To do so in organizer go to: file>get photos>from files and folder. (Photoshop Organizer obviously wants it to be easier to use photoshop for editing rather than some other software *grin*)

  • 4506 & SUP V Management IP address question.....

    Hello all, I have two questions. The new 4506 SUP V engines don't have the good old SCO interface that I'm used to. So, since it's running an IOS now instead of the old CATos, I figured I'l create a new vlan and then make it the management IP address by using the 'MANAGEMENT' command (like in the old 2900's). Well, that didn't work either, so my question is...on what int. do I configure the mgnt. IP address?
    -thank you....

    Russ,
    In the current version (up to 2.1) the Management IPs for blades are required to belong to the same subnet as the Management Interfaces of the Fabric Interconnects.  This is due to the way we proxy the KVM request from Management Interfaces to the Blades CIMC.  In a future release we're investigating breaking the blade IPs into their own subnet/VLAN but this is a ways out - no committed date at this time.
    We understand this puts quite a requirment on the size of the Management Subnet, but with proper design it shouldn't be much of an issue.

  • Tomcat security constraint question

    Hi all,
    we're using the following security constring for securing our servletts. Everything works fine so far.
    <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
    <web-resource-name>Test</web-resource-name>
    <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    </security-constraint>
    Now the question: We've implemented some kind of password reminder which allows you to retrieve a new password, this servlett should be accessible by anybody.
    Do we have to list all the url-mappings except the one for the password reminder or is there a special tag to exclude an url-pattern from the wildcard-rule which we haven't yet? Any hints would be appreciated...

    Once user provides proper Username and Password, it
    grants them the access. Now I want to know once the

  • Hopefully there's an easy solution to my question..

    Hi
    I'm sure many others have asked this same question....
    Can I delete some songs from my computer/itunes and still keep them on my ipod? And if so, how? This would help me out a bunch.
    Thanks so much to all who may answer.

    Sure.
    You'll have to enable manual update.
    Before you delete ANYTHING.
    Connect your iPod and open iTunes>Preferences. Select iPod preferences and choose "manually manage songs and playlists."
    What you HAVE TO remember is to BACK UP your music, especially any purchased songs. If your iPod ever needs to be restored and you don't have your music backed up, it will be gone forever. External hard drives are the most popular way of backing up around here:) Burning data DVDs or data CDs (don't use iTunes to make playlists!) is another fairly easy form of backup.

  • Tomcat 5 JDBC question

    Does Tomcat 5.0 only support TYPE_FORWARD_ONLY Result Sets? Ive declared my result set as
    private ResultSet rs;
    stmt = con.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE, ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE);
    However when I try and scroll through it using
    stmt = con.createStatement();
    rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM customer");
    boolean is_true = rs.last(); //this will set the pointer in the last record of your ResultSet.
    no_of_records = rs.getRow(); //return the current record number, ie last record number.
    ResultSetMetaData rsmd = rs.getMetaData();
    column_count = rsmd.getColumnCount();
    customerArray = new String[no_of_records][column_count];
    buf.append("<p align=center>#Records: "+no_of_records+"</p>");
    buf.append("<p align=center>#Columns: "+column_count+"</p>");
    I keep getting the error :
    java.sql.SQLException: Result set type is TYPE_FORWARD_ONLY at sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcResultSet.last(JdbcOdbcResultSet.java:2274) at EditCustomer.doPost(EditCustomer.java:55)
    Where line 55 of Edit Customer is the first statement to scroll through the ResultSet
    boolean is_true = rs.last(); //this will set the pointer in the last record of your ResultSet.
    Do I have to scroll through the ResultSet and simply count using variables or can TYPE_SCROLL_SENSITIVE ResultSet. be used in Tomcat 5.0 as a servlet or could it be that I am simply declaring the resultset incorrectly??
    Thanks for your help in advance!

    Yeah....mySQL would not be a bad thing to learn at this point. Considering developing a private BB and MySQL would be ideal for that.

  • JSTL xml is killing me... Tomcat 5.5 question - Connection refused: connec

    I have the following code in my jsp file:

    //String req_url="http://www.SOMESERVER.com/books.xml";

    If I try to load the same books.xml from a remote server I got the following exception:
    ...and the exception is: javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Problem accessing the absolute URL "http://www.SOMESERVER.com/books.xml". java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect

    please see the following site for the solution:
    http://www.cs.wcupa.edu/~rkline/Java/xml_examples.html
    summary:
    You will also need the jar files from the Xalan distribution whose web site is:
    http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/
    The latest version is 2.7.0 and the binary distribution can be downloaded from the course server at
    xalan-j_2_7_0-bin.zip
    which contains the JAR file needed for XPath and Xerces compilation usages. Extracting the zip file yields the directory xalan-j_2_7_0. Within it look for the files (also downloadable from these links):
    xalan.jar, xercesImpl.jar, serializer.jar
    These JAR files will need to be made available to Eclipse. The easiest way, as before, is to install them directly into
    apache-tomcat-5.5.17/common/lib

  • Easy Setup for 24p Question

    I have footage shot in standard 24p (F5 on the DVX camera)
    I will be editing on a 23.98 timeline
    I am also working with some 24pA material, so we're planning to use Cinema Tools to convert the standard 24p material for use in the timeline.
    In Easy Setup there is one choice for DV-NTSC
    And another DV-NTSC 24p (23.98)
    Confusing! Especially since I'm going to be editing in a 23.98 timeline. I know that the material on the tape, whether shot in 24p or 24pADV is 29.98; I'm just confused about which of these capture presets to choose
    I knew this information at one point but it has decided to either go to sleep or exit my brain entirely.

  • Easy ORACLE RAC 11g question....

    Hi everyone.....
    Im new at this .... I've setup using VMware a 2 node cluster that works fine... 11g
    Im planning to move our production database that is currently 10g ...
    Heres the question... Is it possible to run a 10g instance on 11g RAC... without an upgrade??
    Its 11g compatible to run 10g instances?

    Your instance is mapped with oracle database. You installed oracle software first then create a database.
    If you upgrade your database to 11g then your instance will be 11g. Instance is oracle memory structure and background processes. Actually we upgrade oracle binaries and oracle database.

  • Tomcat startup.bat question

    When execute Tomcat5/bin/startup.bat,it will appear a command window,all display information of Tomcat will appear in it.Is there a method which can put the display information in this command window into a TXT file? Because if tomcat or JVM raise fatal error,before I see the error display information of Tomcat in this command window,the command window has closed!!! Or is there a method which can keep the tomcat command window opening all time whether it raise so fatal error?
    Any idea will be appreciated!

    Open a command prompt: Start:run cmd
    This opens a dos prompt box for you.
    When you run tomcat this way, it won't close the box.
    Alternatively check the Tomcat5/logs directory for any error messages there.
