Superposed fields when null value

Hi all,
There is one repeating frame , say R1, which contains two other repeating frames , say R2 and R3.
The group of R1 is the master group , and the groups of R2 and R3 are details of R1's group ( foreign key ) .
I have created a formula column in the two detail groups , one in each other , and they may return null.
My problem is when the return value is null then all the fields below the two fields associated for the formula columns come taking the place of the two fields , something like they are put over the two fields. And the report is not very good to look at this moment.
I have tried to anchor each detail repeating frame to the text label of the field but the problem is not resolved. The report is even more bad when there is null value.
So how to prevent this problem of misplacement.
Thank you very much indeed.

Try to change Vertical and Horizontal elasticity from Variable/Contract to Expand. See if it works

  • Error in when null values are passed to datefield

    Hi all,
    We are facing some issue with null values in date fields while calling a stored procedure using JDBC Adapter in one of the interfaces.
    When the value is null, XI gives errors in the communication channel.
    Case 1 , When the value is mapped to blank. : The adapter gives an error related to date format. Unsparseable date “”.
    Case 2 , When the value is not mapped at all : The adapter gives an error related to wrong number of arguments for the stored procedure.
    One option for fixing this issue is to hardcode the value to all zeros in a appropriate date format. However this is not acceptable in our case.
    Did anybody face this issue before. If yes what was the approach taken. Can you please let me know if anybody has any inputs on this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Younus

    you can clear the field key tags mandatory in the XML Schema interpreter parameter and make the Empty string value to Empty string from null value.
    For mapping : you can pass a value that is of the same format of date; but you can take your own value in the database since you are parsing the date format from one to other

  • Change the style of a numeric field when his value is 0

    I need show a numeric field in some reports with color red and italic font, but only when the value of number is low than zero. In another case the text must be normal. Is really possible do that? That applies to section details or final summaries.
    Many thanks for the help.

    Hi
    To make your number filed in Red :
    Right click on the field and go in format field click on Font tab and go in Color formula editor and give the following formula :
    If Sum(fieldValue} < 0 Then CrRed else CrNoColor
    Now go in Style formula editor and give the following :
    if sum() < 0 then Critalic
    This will make your field red and italic when it is less than 0

  • Calculation fields need to hide $0 and 0% fields when null

    Adobe Live Cycle Designer 8.0
    I have my Before DIR% calculated by dividing (TotalDebts/TotalIncome*100) and have it show up as a percentage (ie 26% OR  31% instead of .26 or .31). I need it to show up blank if there isnt anything going on. Same for "After DIR" and "% Unsec to Inc". I also have another from with the same exact problem but it calculates a $0. How would make these 0's show up blank when no calculation is currenlty happening?  I am trying to get them to show up as blank so if needed I could print out the form and hand write it and NOT have the 0% show up.

    If you set the Pattern display on the calculated cell to allow zeros and/or null then if both of the numericFields are 0, then the calculated cell is blank; not 0. Just select the calculated cell that has the 0, then in the Object tab select the Field tab, and there should be a "Patterns" button you can click. Select "Display" from the drop down box after hitting "Patterns", and then check the fields "Allow Empty" and/or "Allow Zero". Should not display the 0 once you have those set.

  • NULL value not validated for a Required field

    Hi,
    I have added a MessageLovInput item to the expense header page (/oracle/apps/ap/oie/entry/header/webui/GeneralInformationPG), and have made the Required Value to True. But I do not get any error when I navigate to the next page without populating the field. If I enter in incorrect information, it validates it against the LOV, but not for null values.
    Any pointers to make the field validate NULL values?
    Thanks,
    Ashish

    Yeah.. I can see the Required field indicator (*) next to the field. I have tried with all the values (uiOnly, ValidatorOnly, Yes etc.), but it does not validate NULL values.
    I'll try to handle this in the controller, but would prefer if this can be done by personalization.

  • BUG in handling of null-value="exception" with optimistic locking

    When commit failed due to value of a field with null-value="exception" being
    null JDO_LOCK get incremented and subsequent commits (after supplying valid

    exception. This JDO_LOCK increment does not happen to the instance itself
    (or at least my test does not show it) but to an instance to who's
    collection the instance in question belongs. For example
    We have Position, which have a collection of Addresses (inversion based
    collection)
    I am create a new Address, add it to Position collection commit it fails
    because one of the required fields of an Address is null. Every time I
    attempt commit and fail it will increment Position's JDO_LOCK

    I need to add that if I put throw JDOUserException in jdoPrestore() in case
    if the field in question is null (to avoid null-value="exception" check)
    everything works as expected no problems with JDO_LOCK is present

  • NULL Value in Journal Entry and Wrong Tax Summary

    Hi people,
    I need your expert help for a big problem that appens to some customers.
    They run SAP BO 8.8 SP:00 PL:12
    This is the scenario:
    You insert a new documet,  A/R Invoice or A/P Invoice is the same, problem appear in all of them.
    After you insert the document, using SQL Server Management try this Select statment:
    Select * from JDT1 where JDT1.debit is null OR JDT1.credit is null
    A list of record where listed. And, this is the problem, NULL values are all in the VAT Lines in debit or credit colums.
    If you try to make a SUM(debit-credit) you discovery that, 1000,00-null=null
    Consequently, TAX Sumary report, that probably use arithmetic operation like me in SELECT statment,  count a wrong number when null values in DEBIT or CREDIT column in JDT1 for VAT declaration.
    How could I solve? And how i can make invoices store 0 rather than NULL in the VAT Line?
    Thanks in advance for your tips and solutions

    Thaks Neetu for your answer.
    I thinks there is a misurandertanding.
    My problem is not SQL.
    My problem is the SAP TAX Report.
    I used SQL only for check data and discover why SAP raise a wrong TAX Summary report.
    So, my question is: Why invoices write null values in journal entry, and how I can solve the problem that TAX summary report use null value in operations so the results are wrong.

  • REGEXP_SUBSTR for comma delimited list with null values

    Hi,
    I have a column which stores a comma delimited list of values. Some of these values in the list may be null. I'm having some issues trying to extract the values using the REGEXP_SUBSTR function when null values are present. Here are two things that I've tried:
    SELECT
       REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*', 1, 1) pos1
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*', 1, 2) pos2
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*', 1, 3) pos3
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*', 1, 4) pos4
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*', 1, 5) pos5
    FROM (SELECT 'AAA,BBB,,DDD,,FFF' val FROM dual);
    POS P POS P P
    AAA   BBB
    SELECT
       REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]+', 1, 1) pos1
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]+', 1, 2) pos2
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]+', 1, 3) pos3
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]+', 1, 4) pos4
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]+', 1, 5) pos5
    FROM (SELECT 'AAA,BBB,,DDD,,FFF' val FROM dual);
    POS POS POS POS P
    AAA BBB DDD FFFAs you can see neither of the calls works correctly. Does anyone know how to modify the regular expression pattern to handle null values? I've tried various other patterns but was unable to get anyone to work for all cases.
    Thanks,

    http://www.TalkApex.com

    Hi, Martin,
    This does what you want:
    SELECT
       RTRIM (REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*,', 1, 1), ',') pos1
      ,RTRIM (REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*,', 1, 2), ',') pos2
      ,RTRIM (REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*,', 1, 3), ',') pos3
      ,RTRIM (REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '[^,]*,', 1, 4), ',') pos4
      ,RTRIM (REGEXP_SUBSTR (val || ','
                          , '[^,]*,', 1, 5), ',') pos5
    FROM (SELECT 'AAA,BBB,,DDD,,FFF' val FROM dual);The query above works in Oracle 10 or 11, but in Oracle 11, you can also do it with just REGEXP_SUBSTR, without using RTRIM:
    SELECT
       REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '([^,]*),|$', 1, 1, NULL, 1) pos1
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '([^,]*),|$', 1, 2, NULL, 1) pos2
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '([^,]*),|$', 1, 3, NULL, 1) pos3
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '([^,]*),|$', 1, 4, NULL, 1) pos4
      ,REGEXP_SUBSTR (val, '([^,]*),|$', 1, 5, NULL, 1) pos5
    FROM (SELECT 'AAA,BBB,,DDD,,FFF' val FROM dual);The problem with your first query was that it was looking for sub-strings of 0 or more non-commas. There was such as sub-string. consisting of 3 characters, starting at position 1, so it returned 'AAA', as expected. Then there was another sub-string, of 0 characters, starting at position 4, so it returned NULL. Then there was a sub-string of 3 characters starting at position 5, so it returned 'BBB'.
    The problem with your 2nd query was that it was looking for 1 or more non-commas. 'DDD' is the 3rd such sub-string.

  • Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 Issue with Streams when using NULL value in a key field

    Hi,

    UK_S01_TEXT_FORMAT_TBL01 INDEX_TARIFF_PLAN_COSP_ID
    with field INDEX_PROVIDER_ID allowing NULL values. Actually we insert empty strings in there, but as far as I understand Oracle will convert it sliently in a NULL value, which is fine to our application.
    When we apply a change on that table (either update or delete) we get errors at streams level and the transaction is not propagated.

    If I force the set of primary keys to be only the NOT NULL fields, I can successfully apply the error, but since we may have them storing both NULL and NOT NULL values, this is not a solution.
    I'm wondering why the DB on one hand converts the empty string in a NULL while inserting, but it looks the Apply process onStandby is not able to do the same when looking for the record before applying the transaction.

  • NVL and replace date when date field is null from table

    I am trying to replace a field with a date default when it is null and it is not working
    I was wondering if someone could give me a clue to what I am doing wrong
    Here is the part of the select statement:
    NVL (o.mass_production_date__c, TO_DATE ('1900-01-01', 'yyyy-mm-dd')),
    It is not replacing a NULL value in o.mass_production_date__c if it is returning null
    o.mass_production_date__c is a DATE format field
    TIA,
    Mike

    Can you post the actual query and screen cature show it's not working.
    Most likely is because your data is not NULL but some empty string.
    The function should work just fine like following,
    TEST@rman> create table t1 (val date) ;
    Table created.
    TEST@rman> insert into t1 values (null);
    1 row created.
    TEST@rman> commit;
    Commit complete.
    TEST@rman> select * from t1;
    VAL
    TEST@rman> select nvl(val,TO_DATE ('1900-01-01', 'yyyy-mm-dd')) from t1;
    NVL(VAL,T

  • How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms?

    Hello all,
    How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms? This might sound trivial but I have a problem with a PL/SQL Validation that I have written.
    I have one select list (P108_CLUSTER_ID) and one Text field (P108_PRIVATE_IP). I made P108_CLUSTER_ID to return null value when nothing is selected and assumed P108_PRIVATE_IP to return null value too when nothign is entered in the text field.
    All that I need is to validate if P108_PRIVATE_IP is entered when a P108_CLUSTER_ID is selected. i.e it is mandatory to enter Private IP when a cluster is seelcted and following is my Pl/SQL code
    Declare
    v_valid boolean;
    Begin
    IF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NULL THEN
    v_valid := TRUE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NOT NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NOT NULL THEN
    v_valid := TRUE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NOT NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NULL THEN
    v_valid := FALSE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NOT NULL THEN
    v_valid := FALSE;
    END IF;
    return v_valid;
    END;
    My problem is it is returning FALSE for all the cases.It works fine in SQL Command though..When I tried to Debug and use Firebug, I found that Text fields are not stored a null by default but as empty strings "" . Now I tried modifying my PL/SQL to check Private_IP against an empty string. But doesn't help. Can someone please tell me how I need to proceed.
    Thanks

    See SQL report for LIKE SEARCH I have just explained how Select list return value works..

  • How to check for null value/field?

    Hi!
    I have created a form that is designed to calculate the rows using the FormCalc function.
    My problem is that if I have no value in the some of the rows, a 0 is automatically display as the calculated output field. If a row has no data, how can I get a null or blank field in the result (calculated field) field?
    Let's say, I have 5 rows and each row should have a calculated value in one of the fields; when I fill out only two of the rows, the remaining three rows come out with 0s in the calculated output field. I need a blank output field for the remaining calculated values instead of 0s. I am a newbie so please excuse me if I am not explaining well.
    Thanks

  • Value "null" is displayed when retrieving null values from database

    Hi,
    I'm retrieving a record from Oracle database using a ResultSet rs and displaying the values on screen. Some of the columns do not have any data.
    The statements are:
    ResultSet rs
    st=con.createStatement();
    rs=st.executeQuery(............)
    out.println("<input name='punch_line' type='text' value='"+rs.getString(7)+"'>");
    The problem is that there is no value in the database column rs.getString(7). Ideally when the value is null, the field should not display anything. But in my case it is displaying the text "null".
    Can anyone let me know how can I display a blank value instead of displaying the text "null"?
    Thanks,

    api >
    String getString(int columnIndex)
    Gets the value of the designated column in

    a String in the Java programming language.
    so null is returned as string object..NO.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/sql/ResultSet.html
    Returns:
    the column value; if the value is SQL NULL, the value returned is null
    The Java literal null is returned, not the String "null". The JDBC API provides a method wasNull() to detect if the previous accessed column returned a SQL NULL.

  • How to give not null value in a rule for a field

    hi,
    i want to create a rule through rule designer where i want a field say "country" should not be left blank. when i go to the rule designer and select country through attribute value i get 2 conditions "=" and "!=" what shoud i give the value as so that the country field is not null.
    TIA

    I don't think you can have null value in the rule designer , rather you can created one more UDF and populate this UDF with something based on the nulllness/not-null of the country field and use this new UDF in the rule .
    Hope this helps .
    Thanks

  • Date field sorts with Null values

    We have small oracle database which is used for third party application/driver. Several tables have date type fields and somehow this driver converts null value into 01/01/0001 in some cases. However when we do select * from table order by date_field it does not look like it separates Nulls from this 01/01/0001 It kind treats this as NULL.
    Just want to hear if anybody had similar issues or this is normal for Oracle?
    Oracle Version: 10.2.0.3

    No, in the rdbms a null is a null so if a date column value is null it is handled as null. What an application or driver does is another issue. It is however possible via OCI to insert invalid date values into a date column so determining if there is invalid data in the columns is the first step I would take. That way you know if you have a data issue or a driver issue.
