Support for ExCel and Word in OSX 10.7.4
Upgraded to Lion (OSX 10.7.4) and find ExCel and Word (Microsoft) are no longer supported! What replaces that?

Both Work and Excel work fine for me. Of course I use the 2008 and 2011 versions. 2004 will never work.

As far as I know, Opening event for Excel or Word is not exist in the Javascript API for Office.
Unfortunately, I could not find such a document.

For a workaround, I will recommend you add a function to get the data from the file in the Office.initialize event.

I am currently receiving error message "Microsoft Excel quit unexpectedly". Any suggestions on how to fix? I notice same message for powerpoint and word.
That generally has to do with data corruption. Is your data backed up?

I use Entourage for my email and Excel and Word for their respective applications. From time to time one or other will drop out which means re starting the iMac. A real pest. Comments would be welcomed.

You would have to purchase these separately through either the Mac App Store, Microsoft or through a third party software sales vendor.
OR you can purchase through the Mac App Store iWork suite of apps that includes Pages (word processor/page layout app) Numbers ( spreadsheet app) and Keynote ( slide and audio/video presentation software). -

You cannot download or install Word or Excel for the iPad. MS has not released an iOS version.
There are MS Office compatible apps available in the app store like Quick Office Pro and Documents to Go. Take a look at those and see what you think. Apple also has their iWorks suite of apps, Pages, Numbers and Keynote that are compatible with the MS Office apps. -

If you have older versions of excel and word that previously ran under the Rosetta emulator (allows PowerPC code to run on Intel system), they will no longer work with Lion.

Not enough memory or disk space in excel and word office 365
I have windows 8.1 and am having huge issues with excel and word in office 365.
When i download a document i am unable to open as message reads cannot open as not enough memory or disk space.
I have plenty of disk space and memory however have searched this and the following has been answered BUT I CANNOT UNDERSTAND This and need HELP with step by step instructions on how to do please;

Right Click on microsoft Excel Application>Properties>Give Asp.net Permissions
Select Identity table >Select interactive user >select ok

I upgraded to mountain lion a week ago and now on startup of my macbook pro, microsoft excel and word start up automatically and then crash? very strange can anyone please help? I have checked the login items under users and groups and there is nothing.
Are you using the Office for Mac 2011 version, as you need to do? The Office for Mac 2004 is Not at all compatible with Mountain Lion, and the 2008 version has been noted to have some problems running with ML.

I would suggest using Office for Mac and you need to buy it at a physical Apple store or downlaod from Microsoft. It is a fully functioning and compatible with MS Office. It's about 150$.
I tried the various Apple products - like Numbers- and they are not as sophisticated as the Office products. As well, if you are going to store Office products in the Apple icloud then they get converted to the various Apple i-products - ugh, it make s a mess.
So I store all my Powerpoint, Excel and Word documents on Skydrive cloud where they are stored as native office products.
