Support for .svg images ?

Hi, I wish to save some .svg images on my iMac - but could import to iPhoto.
They do open in Safari, but I wanted to ideally store them in my photo library. Is there .svg support in iPhoto and I have just tried importing incorrectly ? Or perhaps a future release of iPhoto ?
I'm on iPhoto 08
many thanks,
GazzaPax

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The iLife applications do not support the scalable vector graphic format. You will need to convert to one of the image formats that is supported: JPEG, TIFF, PSD, GIF and PNG.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Command-line support for encrypted images

    Hi,
Is there any support in asr for performing restores using an encrypted image directly? I can't seem to find anything. It isn't much of a burden I guess to mount the image and then use it (now that I know that, anyway), but it seems like an oversight that asr can't just be given a password directly.
Similarly for hdiutil, it has some support for encrypted images, but some things seem to be missing. At the very least you can't convert an encrypted image into an unencrypted image because convert doesn't understand that.
Are these known issues? Are there plans to add this functionality? Or is it considered unnecessary since there's other ways around it?

Sorry for my ignorance, when you say you installed every driver in there are you referring to adding them to the driver database or to your bootwim. Also if you cant grab the logs you might be able to get a report based on an unknown system, look in reporting
under "History of a task sequence deployment on a computer" if there was anything recorded before it bombed out you might be able to get some info.
Im still leaning towards a network driver though, can you snap an image of the drivers you have loaded into your preferred bootwim.

  • How does Firefox handle xml:base when generating GET requests for SVG image elements?

I am loading an SVG image at the following URL:
    http://localhost/howl/svg/id/543
The source for this SVG code is:
    <svg xml:base="/howl/">
    <svg width="535" height="325" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"
    xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">
    <image xlink:href="file/id/532" />
    </svg>
    </svg>
As you can see, the SVG code is located at one path, but the <image> is relative to the root, hence the wrapping xml:base attribute.
The actual requests in Firefox, according to Tomcat Logging are:
    GET /howl/svg/id/543
    GET /howl/file/id/532
However, Firebug's Net tab shows these requests:
    GET /howl/svg/id/543
    GET /howl/svg/id/file/id/532 (Incorrect, doesn't happen)
    GET /howl/file/id/532
When I test the same thing in Safari and Chrome, all three GET requests actually happen, the incorrect one resolving in a 404.
I suspect that Firefox is generating all three requests, but discarding the incorrect one and Firebug is not aware of this. As a result, Firebug shows all three requests, but the incorrect one never resolves.
So, I'm curious about the behavior or whether I am doing this incorrectly.
    Thanks!

  • How to extend interMedia to support for new Image Format

Does anyone here has experience to extend interMedia to provide support for a new image format.
I have read the related chapter in Oracle Intermedia User Guide, I'm not very clear about it. Hope a step-by-step tutorial for this topic is available.
Thanks in advance for any idea

Can you send the details of your application to [email protected] and explain the reasons extensibility is needed by your application?
At this time, the only way to extend formats is to write your own procedures (ususally java stored procedures) to populate the image object... This does not extend the image processesing functionality to the new image format. Internally, this requires a translation to and from an intermediate format.

  • Adobe discontinue support for svg?

    www.adobe.com/svg/eol.html
Will there still be support in mapviewer?

Thanks for the reply. We use the full SVG and not tiny. We use the SVG because it displays our data (polylines) much better than the png maps and also because of the ability to hover over features etc. We also use a lot of JDBC themes in our applications which means that OracleMaps is not really a good alternative (at the moment). Will there be a replacement by 1st January when it is no longer supported?

  • Team Site default site assets library does not have support for video, images, etc..

    Greetings,
Our users have noticed that when they create a new subsite that the default site assets library does not give them the option to create a new document type of video, image, etc.. just a word document.
If I create a new asset library I do see all the options when creating a new file from the drop down menu under the ribbon >files>new document
Is this default behavior when creating a new team site or is there something that I can configure so that the default site assets library that is built is really a site assets library and not a standard document library?

i think you are talking about the "Site Assets" Library and this is not meant for the Asset Library.Yes this is default behavior.
Site Assets: Use this library to store files which are included on pages within this site, such
as images on Wiki pages. jsut think about the other OOTB libraries i.e Style, Pages libraries etc.
Assets Library is the one you need to add in your site collection to take the advantage of it.

  • Lightroom 5.5 support for 32bit images from merging HDR in Photoshop CC 2014?

Why is it I can create a 32bit HDR image and make adjustments in ACR, but when I save it, Lightroom can't read it? Aren't they basically running the same engine? Is there a work around?

Which file format do you saving your 32bit HDR image?
From LR 4.1, Lightroom can read 32-bit floating-point images in TIFF and DNG file formats.

  • How to control the size of SVG images in epub files?

There is unfortunately no support for SVG files in InDesign.
Most of my images in jpg convertes nicely, but the small ones do not.
Therefore I want to use SVG files which I have created in Illustrator.
But how do I set the size in the epub file? Right now, whatever I do, they come out too big and I don't know how to control the size.
Is there a program, like Sigil or other, that can place the image for me - I'm no html wizard you see....

In any Java program, it is good practice to make sure your live objects leave some room in the heap for "scratch space." Without this, you will spend too much time in GC, and, in the worst cases, run out of memory. In the general case, you can see how much live data your application requires by looking at the heap used after a full GC's. For Coherence, you should ensure that live data, as you say, is under 70% of the maximum heap size.
Coherence provides you tools to help enforce this policy. [http://coherence.oracle.com/display/COH35UG/local-scheme] describes how to size limit your cache. By implementing an eviction policy, you can control what happens when a size limit is exceeded.

  • SVG-Images in Reports 11g?

    Hi all,
does Reports 11g support the SVG images?
    I get the follwing errors;
REP-606: Internal error writing the image null
REP-0606: Link file C:\Temp\test.svg cannot be read.
    The file C:\Temp\test.svg exists.
    Regards

    Hi,
for clarification purposes. SVG image format is only supported as output for reports graphs. If trying to link or use a SVG image in a report it wont work as that format is only supported for graph outputs.
Something to have in mind when running reports with graphs and using OUTPUTGRAPHFORMAT=svg. If using SVG in uppercase it wont run and fail with the following errors
REP-62204: Internal error writing the image null
    REP-0069: An internal error occurred
If running in lower case OUTPUTGRAPHFORMAT=svg it will work as expected and you will get a svg image for your graph.
    Hope it helps, Roberto

  • Support for RAW Video and Image Sequences

Being a stills photographer who moved into video some years back, I'm very interested in the direction Lightroom is going with regards to video support. I haven't tried it yet but I wondered if LR4 supports Red R3D files? And would it perhaps support other future RAW video formats from the likes of Canon and Sony? It would seem like the perfect application, perhaps intergrating with Premiere in a similar way to RedCine with FCP. Be great to be able to log footage, orginize it into bins and do basic colour correction in LR, edit the project in Premiere and re-touch in After Effects.
Another task LR would seem ideally suited to is combining image sequences into timelapse video. Shooting timelapse as an image sequence on a DSLR is pretty much standard practice these days; and I've used LR to colour correct, crop and scale my sequences (before fitting them together in Quicktime) for years now. It would be fantastic to be able to preview the clip and export the video (as DPX, ProRes or DNxHD) from within Lightroom.
These are obviously fairly long term wishes. In the short term though, the video features are pretty much useless to me without support for exporting ProRes and DNxHD files. With this LR becomes a powerful asset manager that could be used to collect together footage from multiple sources/codecs and transcode it all for editing. As mentioned in a previous thred, XML support would make it even more useful in this context. There is definitly a gap in the market for an application than can handle this kind of task well.
With other manufactures floundering or neglecting their professional user base, Adobe would seem poised to take the video post crown. I wonder if Lightroom could be part of the takeover?

As I understand it Andy, its intention is to remain a photographers program, not a videographers program.  The basic video features are available for lightweight management of videos coming from digital cameras, but it's not going too much further than that at this point in time.  Of course that may change in the future, but we'll all have to wait and see on that one.

  • Camera RAW image support for Pentax K100D

    Hi,
Firstly, let me just say I have a MacBook Pro which came preloaded with Tiger. A month or so ago I upgraded to Leopard and I have applied all the available Apple software update.
I recently got a Pentax K100D digital SLR camera capable of taking images in RAW format (the pentax saves these with a .PEF file extension) and I have been trying to view these images in Leopard. I read the article below, which says that Leopard provides system-level support for the Pentax K100D camera RAW format.
*Digital camera RAW formats supported by Mac OS X 10.5*
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306835
Now, my problem is that I cannot seem to be able to open the .PEF files with neither Quick Look, Preview, iPhoto or Aperture. Basically, none of these programs seem to be able to display my .PEF files. Aperture says 'unsupported image format'.
I have installed the software that came with my Pentax (i.e. Pentax Photo Browser and Pentax Photo Laboratory) and these applications can display the .PEF images just fine. For what it's worth, I installed this software before I upgraded to Leopard.
If I right-click on a .PEF file in Finder, the only programs listed in the Open context menu are the above two Pentax applications.
So, what am I missing? Clearly something seems to be screwy in my Leopard set up. Is there some way to 'repair' the RAW image support in Leopard??
I would appreciate any help in fixing this as I would really like to start working with RAW images in Aperture and iPhoto.
Finally, just be aware that I am not an experienced Mac user. I have always used Windows until now and so... if you have a fix for this I would really appreciate a slightly more elaborate response.
    Thanks in advance,
    Eddie

I have done a little more research on this...
As it turns out, my camera is a Pentax K100D Super - not a K100D. The K100D Super is not listed as one of the supported camera RAW formats in the aforementioned article. So I guess this means that my camera is as yet unsupported. Sigh...

  • EPub support for full-bleed images

    Hi,
I'm creating an ePub version of a Pages document, and I want to include the full-page image for the cover. Pages tells me that it can't support floating images, but in-line images need to respect the margins set for the rest of the document. I want the cover to extend at least to the margins, but it appears that Pages won't support that.
Has anyone got any work-arounds that will support a full image cover for an ePub export version of a Pages document?

Have you had a look at the supplied ePub template in Pages? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4168. You can download the template from this page
The template has a placeholder with an image spanning over the width of the page. It is using Layout breaks and Layout margins which are set in the Inspector palette > Layout tab > Layout

  • Opening HDR images in ACR is great but why is there no support for EXR?

As said above why is there no support for the EXR format, which is THE industry standard for HDR images?
Christian Bloch, author of the standard reference book for HDR imaging is thinking the same:
"The next step should certainly be OpenEXR support. Full-on 32-bit TIFFs are annoyingly huge for no good reason. Seriously! For the image above it's 120 MB versus 30 MB in EXR, with absolutely no quality difference."
Will EXR support come in the near future?

  • Imaging support for ax88179 (USB3.0-Gigabit Ethernet adapter

    Hi
I anyone aware whether support for ax88179 (USB3.0-Gigabit Ethernet adapter) will be added in forthcoming ZCM patches/driver updates?
We are running 11.3.2 but are assessing these adapters for imaging a fleet of tablet/notbook machines we have arriving... The docks are only 10/100 and we need gigabit given the number we will have to deploy...!
    Cheers
    David

    Review this TID as well....
    https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=3421576
Development will need the results to add support.
You may be able to get it working yourself with the NEWID command in the short-term or you may need new drivers added.
Either way, it is best to open an SR but if you have that data in hand, it will speed the process.

  • Convert -scale crashes when converting svg-image

As i tried to build librecad from aur, it fails when creating the programicons from an svg image.
So i tried to convert a svg-file with the same command i found in  pkgbuild-script:
    test$ convert -scale 16 Archlinux-official-fullcolour.svg Archlinux-official-fullcolour.png
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf", line 14: reading configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated.
    Abgebrochen (Speicherabzug geschrieben)
The issue is the same, so i guess its a problem in convert (imagemagick). The needed dependencies are installed:
    pacman -Qi imagemagick
Optionale Abhängigkeiten: ghostscript: for Ghostscript support[Installiert]
    openexr: for OpenEXR support[Installiert]
    libwmf: for WMF support[Installiert]
    librsvg: for SVG support[Installiert]
    libxml2: for XML support[Installiert]
    jasper: for JPEG-2000 support[Installiert]
    libpng: for PNG support[Installiert]
    Could anyone confirm this issue?
Could i build librecad without this icons, by deleting the appropriate lines in the pkgbuild?
Edit: Solved by commenting the lines in pkgbuild and then succesfully installed.

I have no experience with SVG, but I copied and pasted your the relevant bit of your first email into a text document and then changed the suffix to .svg. It didn't crash, but it didn't open the file either. I got a message that said:
The file was not read successfully due to one of the following reasons:

Is there an email address where I can contact you offline?
