Support of JSP in Oracle 8i
Dear all friends,
now I am using Sun Java Web server for serving my JSP's but I have heared that Oracle 8i support JSP .Could you please inform me that whether Oracle 8.1.5. has webserver itself and if it does ,does it support JSP.
any suggestion would be appreciated
Amirali
Oracle 8.1.7 (due this summer)will indeed have a web server in the database for running servlets and JSPs. Oracle 8.1.5 and 8.1.6 do not have this.

Multilanguage support in jsp reports (web layout) and in jsp general
Hi!
We have to develop multilingual applications, so we decide to use Oracle TranslationHub for translate our reports. This is restricted to paper layout at the moment.
1.
Are there plans to support jsp reports layouts through TranslationHub?
2.
I have played around whith some reports jsp tags (rw:), but it seems that it cannot reference boilerplates. If I could read the value from a paper layout boilerplate this would be a temporary solution, as all of our actual jsp reports contains paper layout as well and this I can translate with Oracle TranslationHub.
3.
Do you know any standard implementation for multilanguage support for jsp like resource files? Any hint to ducumentation would be helpful.
With kind regards

How to handle external tag-libraries in JSPs using Oracle Stellent?
I have already started the execution of JSP engine in Oracle Stellent, and also could run the sample Tomcat web-application and basic JSPs in Oracle UCM. What I need to do, is to customize my JSP to be able to show/hide some content using Oracle Stellent.
I have a JSP, from web application, which is using some some tag-libraries from spring, etc.

+<%@ page import = "idcserver.*" %>+

....and so on
I have checked in the above file, and when trying to preview in Oracle UCM, I get the following error:

Check if you have jstil.jar in WEB-INF/lib location , if missing manually add jstl.jar into WEB-INF/lib restart UCM Managed server .
Hope this helps.

Problem in connecting JSP with Oracle 9i.
Hi,
I am having problem in connecting JSP with Oracle 9i.
I am using windows XP and my JDK version is 1.4. For executing JSP I am using
"jakarta-tomcat-5.5.4-preconfigured". My database name is global.
I have set java_home, j2ee_home, oracle_home, path, classpath as follows:
j2ee_home=c:\sun\appserver
java_home=c:\sun\appserver\jdk
oracle_home=C:\oracle\ora92
path=C:\Sun\AppServer\bin;C:\Sun\AppServer\jdk\bin;C:\oracle\ora92\bin
classpath=C:\Sun\AppServer\lib\j2ee.jar;C:\oracle\ora92\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jar;C:\oracle\ora92\jdbc\lib\nls_charse
t12.zip
My code is as follows:
<%@ page language="java" %>
<%@ page import ="java.sql.*"%>
<%
try
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver());
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@global", "scott", "tiger");
catch(SQLException e)
out.println(""+e);
out.println("Connected");
%>
I tried other program:
<%@ page language="java" %>
<%@ page import ="java.sql.*"%>
<%
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:global","scott","tiger");
out.println("Connected");
%>
I am getting following error:

hi everyone,
i'm working with a jsp code which uses oracle as backend i come across
a statement like this
rs2=st2.executeQuery("select name from emp where ecode='"+ecode+"'");
what the + mean in --"+ecode+"
is it related to jsp or oracle,
help me in bebuging the code
That is from your JSP, "ecode" in ecode is a variable in your JSP.

Hi Everyone,
Could you let me know how to compile jsp using Oracle BPM 10gR3 studio.
Thanks in adavance...I use JSPs in my projects since it gives me alot more freedom.
For example, I would like to use JSF tags, or use Javascript libraries to make AJAX calls, and always I want the JSP to have the look and feel of the brand of the company.
There are challenges in using the JSPs however. The documentation for the JSP Tag Library doesn't have good examples, so you might have to figure stuff out on your own.
I don't use WTP, although I've been meaning to install it. I've been using a text editor (notepad++) for the development of my JSPs. -

Passing data from JSP to Oracle Reports
Hi,
We have a requirement to query and display data in JSP pages and when clicked on 'Report' button of the JSP, an Oracle report should be called.
The data which is queried in JSP should be passed to the Oracle report. Is there any way of doing it? This is to avoid re-querying the database again from Oracle Reports.
Environment: jdk1.3, Oracle Application Server 9i, Oracle 9i, Report 6i
Thanks in Advance,
SrinivasYou could have the Applet make a request to the server (via URLConnection).

Switched support from Redhat to Oracle
I have successfully switched my support from Redhat to Oracle and my system does appear in ULN after login. However, when I start "up2date" on my system it does not show any channels, Redhat or Oracle. Shouldn't the Oracle channels now appear after switching?
Here is my command line confirmation:
$ up2date --show-channels
el4_i386_latest
$
How do I get up2date to see the Oracle channels?While the up2date initial window did not show any channels, clicking Next did start the update process. The first update installed kernel updates and rebooted the system. Running up2date again installed the remaining available updates. Rebooting a second time now shows Oracle Linux instead of Red Hat.
After completing all available updates, the up2date program fails to start. Running from the Applications menu System Tools>Unbreakable Lunix Network Alert Icon I get the following errors.

500 Internal Server Error while connecting JSP with Oracle
Hello Friends,
We Have installed Oracle Applications 11i in our orgaization which run on HP-UX 11.11 (HP Unix). I have created a JSP file in which I am trying to connect the database using OracleConnectionCacheImpl Class File in oracle.jdbc.pool directory. But it shows an error message as:
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
I have also installed Oracle HTTP Server on my personal machine at which this code runs perfectly only the error comes when i try to connect oracle from Oracle HTTP Server installed on our HP Unix Server.
the path for pool package is:
/appltest/apps/prodora/iAS/oem_webstage/oracle/jdbc/pool
the location of JSP file is:
/appltest/apps/prodcomn/portal/TEST_test/test
What I think is I have to play with the CLASSPATh entries, but dont know how. Please help me in solving this issue...
For your reference the JSP code is:
<%@ page import="java.sql.*, javax.sql.*, oracle.jdbc.pool.*" %>
<jsp:useBean id="ods" class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionCacheImpl" scope="session" />
<%

catch(SQLException e) {
out.println(e);

A quick observation reveals that your jsp is just a standalone java program executed inside jsp. Suppose you just run it as a standalone program. Any error then?
Another way going forward is to install oc4j standalone of the same version. It is very easy to install: just download the oc4j-extended.zip and unzip it and run "java -jar oc4j.jar". Put you jsp inside j2ee/home/default-web-app and run. You should see relevant log messages in j2ee/home/log/server.log and j2ee/home/application-deployments/yourApp/application.log.
You should have Jdeveloper of some appropriate version installed. If you have not, install one. It might be not a little bit high learning curve at first, but the rewards are quick and amazing, especially since jdev 10.1.3. (I am speaking from my experience.) Try it with Jdeveloper. -
