  • System shutdown during support package import

We were importing a BASIS support package in our system. Then for other reasons the system shutdown in the IMPOR_PROPER phase so...the system now is corrupted.
We try to launch the import of support package again from SAP GUI but we can not, a dump is generated everytime.
Are there a posibility of launch the import from operating system to finalice the aplication of package?what are the commands to do that?
We try to avoid the recovery from backup

    Hi,
I don't  think it is possible other than backup restore.
But already you are at worst case..i will suggest you to check the data in PAT01 and PAT03 tables at database level.
And delete all the contents from those tables then retry to login.

  • What is this Support Packages i.e.SPXX?

    hi experts.......
i have searched in sdn but no proper information.
I have been observing in so many cases people mentioning about Support Packages with following one numrical number i.e SP12,SP10....SPXX? what are all these things? can any one explain me?
    thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Support Package is basically collection of the error corrections. When any bug or defect is found in SAP product, it is reported to SAP guys. They provide the correction in the form of SAP Note. If the same or similar bug is reported by multiple end user, they do enhancements or workarounds in the earlier version of product and call it a support package with increased level.
For more details, you can go through this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/81/f6ee39f4c20b64e10000000a114084/content.htm

  • What is Plug-in, SUpport Package, Add in and how R3 and BW are interdep

    Hello Every One,
Can some one explain me in simple words about the terms, Plug-ins, SUpport Packs, Service Packs, Add-in's, SAP Notes and how R3 and BW are interdependant in the above mentioned terms? Can anyone give a simple example?
    regards,
    kishore

    Hi,
    <b><u>Plug-ins:[/</u>b]
Additional program which enhances the functionality of an existing program. Additional functions which may not be needed or are mutually exclusive are often implemented as plug-ins.
For example ICMAN contains various plug-ins for the various network protocols which it supports (HTTP, SMTP, FTP,...).
The interface between mySAP.com components (for example, SAP APO, SAP BBP, SAP BW, SAP CRM) and one or more SAP R/3 systems.
The SAP R/3 Plug-In unites the plug-ins APO-CIF, CRM-R3A, BW-BCT and B2B-PRO-PI. This simplifies maintenance significantly and guarantees compatibility between the individual mySAP.com components. With SAP R/3 Plug-In, you can use several mySAP.com components simultaneously in a single system. SAP R/3 Plug-In supplies the mySAP.com component transaction data and master data in real time.
Technically, there are two versions of each release of the SAP R/3 Plug-In, a PI version and a PI-A version.
The technical names of the software components are PI and PI_A
    <b><u>SUpport Packs</u></b>
A set of corrections for serious software errors in the SAP system.
Support Packages are compiled periodically and made available in the SAP Service Marketplace.
    <b><u>Service Packs</u></b>
A grouping of different services for a quotation.
A service package can be agreed between a service provider and a customer within a service contract or as part of a complex service plan, which can also be additionally agreed in a service contract.
    EXAMPLE
A "Winter Car Check" service package containing the following services is agreed in a contract:
    Cooling water check
    Brake fluid check
    Battery inspection
    Light inspection
    <b><u>Add-in's</u></b>
add-ins are enhancements to the standard version of the system. They can be inserted into the SAP System to accommodate user requirements too specific to be included in the standard delivery. Since specific industries often require special functions, SAP allows you to predefine these points in your software
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004/helpdata/en/e6/d54d3c596f0b26e10000000a11402f/content.htm
    <b><u>SAP Notes</u></b>
Documentaion Prepared by SAP for publishing clarity in case of corrections or changes happening to the SAP Software.
    <b><u>R3 and BW are interdependant</u></b>
Then BW takes the Data from R/3 : so there has to be Support Pluggins which are mapped to the BW server. So the SAP Supported R/3 Versions should be used.
Eg: SAP Stoped the Support for r/3 4.0 series

    Happy Tony

  • Support Package pre-requistis accross different landscapes

I am struggling with which landscape but be patched before another since adding PI 711 into the mix.
    I am supporting ECC6 EHP4 with NW701, BI 70 at Netweaver 70, Solution Manager 70 Ehp1 and now PI 71 ehp1.
I have been told PI must lead all other landscapes support package level but with it being at a later version of Netweaver than all other landscapes it is a far comparison or does it already lead them?
My immediate need is to begin planning for a support package project on the ECC6 EHP4 landscape in the fall.  Since this landscape was last patch, about one year ago we add the PI landscape.
It is a pretty safe bet I will be struggling with this same question in about 6 months when I start looking at a BI support package project.
Any help that could be provided on this would be most appriciated.
    Bill

I think we need to understand more why you feel certain systems need to be patched first or in a certain order
    - from what you say there must be technical concerns across more than one product area
Perhaps it could be that --->
Generally systems that interact with one another should be on the same BASIS level and SP stack - the general rule of thumb
Products such as SLD definately have to be on systems with equivalent or higher BASIS version and SP stack than systems
they interact with because the content created for a Netweaver 700 SLD
may not be able to cope data supplier information from a Netweaver EHP1 system (this also raise other concerns regarding
exporting data between SLDs - again equivalency - or higher for target system is recommended, sometimes with SLD lower BASIS version source systems may have limited export options as well)
Products such a Solution Manager also as a rule of thumb have to be on equivalent or higher BASIS version or SP levels
than the systems they interact with
But PI also may have similiar concerns because they manage communication between systems e.g business systems
However lets take say Payroll in ECC without any ESS or Legacy Systems, ALE
    - totally standalone payroll system - the only rules that apply there are that it works, has the latest fixes and required legal changes and follows a recommended stack - no BASIS equivalency level between other systems may exist in order for payroll to carry out its purpose
Does this help clarify further ?
    Best wishes
    Stuart

  • CRM Support Package Manager - Add transport request to queue

    Hi,
I'm applying CRM Support Packages with SP_MANAGER on the production system.
I already applied these SP on the development system, I performed an SPAU adjustment, selected the corresponding transport request to use it on the production system, but SP_MANAGER didn't asked for this transport on the production system.
How can I add the SPAU adjustment to the queue with SP_MANAGER ?
    Kind regards,
    Christophe

    Hi,
That's why I opened this message: in step 1 of the procedure described by the link (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/EN/de/151042f664e12ce10000000a1550b0/content.htm), the system should ask for a transport request. This is not the case here, despite the fact that the correct setting is set in SPAM.
    Any other idea ?
That's not a problem since I can use a workaround (import via STMS when the system asks to perform the adjustment), but I wonder why the system doesn't ask for a transport request in the case of a CRM system.
    Kind regards,
    Christophe

  • Web service - Support package

    Hi,
Our scenario is based on ECC 6.0 sp12: soon many web service wil be created on that system.
For this purpose an installation of suport package 14 is sufficient (to get not obsole platform)? Instead it is better for us support package above or enhancement package?
we do not know if we will use Composition Environment with ESR and SR.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Enabling ECC with Enterprise Services is very tedious task and SAP is doing it for you by releasing new Enhancement Packs, so with every Ehp you get set of new services and improved features (for list of services visit here (available in pdf): http://help.sap.com/content/documentation/esoa/docu_esoa_erp.htm)
If you don't want standard SAP services then you can always develop them by your own (but you must adhere to strict SOA governance to avoid SOA chaos). To develop custom build service there are two ways:
    - Bottom up: build RFC first and then convert it into services (not recommended)
    - Top down: you need ESR to model services and then you can develop those services in ECC.
For your query on another thread:
'check if you are on Ehp3 else only definition of service exist (no actual service exist on ECC), Secondly you can't edit standard provider class from SAP you must create copy of service and then enhance'
I can not do the same thing with ECC sp14 with Composition Environment include ESR?
ESR = Only definition of services (skeleton only)
ECC = Actual implementation of service.
Sometime people can see service in ESR but they wonder why they are not able to use it in ECC,  to be able to use them in ECC you must have corresponding Enhancement pack installed on ECC.

    Gourav

  • "Show Package Contents" not available

    Hi all
I just downloaded the Common Criteria Toolset from here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/commoncriteriatoolsfor105.html
    I use Mac OS X 10.5 on a MacBook PRO 2.4.
I am not able to choose "Show Package Contents" from the Finder by right clicking the file. Instead I have to open the package in Installer.app and let it show the files with cmd-i.
This is not the first package that shows this behaviour. Older packages mostly work fine though.
Can someone enlighten me, what has changed here, or how I get the Finder option back?
    --greg

    Hi,
i might be wrong, but I don't remember ever to have seen this option with installation packages (.pkg), only with installed apps. For a .pkg there's only cmd+i when opened with Installer.app. Maybe "Show Package Contents" existed for pkgs earlier, but that must've been a while ago. At least I can verify that the option is not there, so it's not a problem with your system.

  • No response when packaging content

    Hi Guy,
I have followed quick guide to setup completely. However when I prepare to package content in Flash Access Manager, I press "Package Media" button and don't get any outputs and logs like AdobeFlashAccess.log, it doesn't show any warning dialog window on the panel either. I should be configuring properly following the guide, I am not sure it's correct since I installed servers on VPN.
Can someone please point me which step I was missing?
Thanks for your reply in advance !
    Lewis.

    Hi Lewis,
The Flash Access Quickstart Guide (http://www.adobe.com/support/flashaccess/pdfs/FAXS_2_0_Quickstart.pdf) describes setting up the Flash Access UI Manager on Step #5.
    Some specific questions:
    - On Step 5.6, did you see the fields auto-populate?  (This confirms your packager .war file was properly deployed)
    - Where are you looking for your AdobeFlashAccess.log?  (The location of this file is indicated in your log4j.xml file)
    - When you specify content you want packaged, the content must be on the same machine that is running your packager .war file.  If you have a remote client running the Flash Access Manager which is connecting to the packager server, the content still has to reside on the packaging server (and not your remote client).  For instance, if your remote client with the Flash Access Manager specifies the content "c:\temp\foo.flv", the packaging server will attempt to look at its own "c:\temp\foo.flv", and not remotely query the remote client machine's hard drive.
    cheers,
    /Eric.
