Support Webinar - Troubleshooting Search Database Anomalies - Recorded

Hello,
This webinar was completed and recorded on 5/27 and is now available for download and viewing.
What tools and methods are available to help troubleshoot issues with the search index?
What is the benefit of using Search Repair and Search Update vs. Search Rebuild?
What methodology does Technical Support use to understand and resolve issues with discrepancies between search index and the database?
These are just some of the topics covered in this entry in the series of Technical Support Brown Bag Webinars for WCI. Our demonstration focuses on areas where WCI Support sees the largest numbers of customer questions become support incidents in an effort to help avoid the need to create an incident to resolve issues in the customer environment. In this webinar we demonstrate the most recent version of WCI (10.3.0.1) but the information applies to previous versions as well.

Hello BeeJenkins,
Is this problem still occurring in your environment?  What service pack do you have applied to Fast Search for SharePoint 2010?  I have seen prior that similar
issues can occur with certain excel spreadsheets due to corruption.  Performing iterative testing of removing one page from the document at a time including the default page, and re-feeding the document, can narrow down the problem content to the specific
page.  Did you happen to try that step?  Other items I might suggest to be verified on all Fast servers include making sure that we have the correct antivirus exceptions configured (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff381239.aspx,)and
TCP & IP Task offloading (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2570111)
disabled including at the NIC adapter and Teaming configuration (if you are teaming NICs.)   Let us know your findings.
Thanks!

  • Selective XML Index feature is not supported for the current database version , SQL Server Extended Events , Optimizing Reading from XML column datatype

    Team , Thanks for looking into this  ..
    As a last resort on  optimizing my stored procedure ( Below ) i wanted to create a Selective XML index  ( Normal XML indexes doesn't seem to be improving performance as needed ) but i keep getting this error within my stored proc . Selective XML
    Index feature is not supported for the current database version.. How ever
    EXECUTE sys.sp_db_selective_xml_index; return 1 , stating Selective XML Indexes are enabled on my current database .
    Is there ANY alternative way i can optimize below stored proc ?
    Thanks in advance for your response(s) !

  • LiveCycle Designer 8-scripting search Access DB records

    Hi
    I am new to LiveCycle Designer 8 having it included with Acrobat Pro 8. I have been trying to set up a basic form that can interact with an Access 2007 DB. Following the help guide, online tutorials, I have been able to set up the data connection, figure out how to establish a "trusted environment" and added several buttons as a test. Using JS, the next, previous, update, first and last buttons work, populating the form fields with the sample DB data and updating the DB (update). Can't get the add new record button to work even though the JS scripting is precisely that shown in the same tutorials for the other buttons. If I delete the text in the on screen cells in the .pdf form, enter new text, click add, all that I added disappears. Checking the DB, nothing has been added. Same difficulty with deleting a record, and the current opened record does not delete.
    Reading a posting suggesting setting up an SQL query instead, leaving of any auto-incrementing item (like ID), and using the JS scripting for the button (don't yet know how to use SQL for next, previous, update, etc.), still couldn't get the add new or delete to work. Tried every combo of no user name, no password to user name, password blank, etc. No success.
    The other needed capability for the test form is the ability to search the DB records, for example by name or ID, for example by the user entering a name or ID in a text input box, clicking a "search" button and the record (if it exists) displaying in the other cells. Then, once found, it could be updated or deleted. One tutorial aims to populate a drop down list box with the data from a specific DB column. It doesn't use JS, rather FormCalc (which kept generating error messages, when I tested it out))and is far too complex for my limited novice skills. If I could display a drop down list box with all of the names and ID's in a DB, the user could choose one and once the record would populate the cells, they could update or delete it.
    So, I'm stuck. Can't get the add new or delete to work and can't figure out how to set up a search to identify records for update or delete. I've read and read anything I can find online, in the Adobe knowledge base, forum, blog postings, trying out many ideas without any success.
    I am hoping someone can help with some suggestions, sample scripts, hopefully understandable by a beginner.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Stephen

  • *New Dates For* Upcoming Support Webinars & Info About Support

    Dear Oracle Primavera Customers:
    As of November 2009, the Oracle Primavera software support team has completed the migration and integration to Oracle Global Customer Support. This is an exciting time for the support organization, as we will now utilize and leverage the same tools and resources. Additionally, our clients will have one centralized location when contacting the support organization. We are sending this message to provide a brief reminder of how you can contact Oracle Support and where to go if you have questions.
    Contacting Support
    Please use your Oracle Support Identifier (SI) to contact Oracle Support either via the My Oracle Support portal or by telephone:
    - [My Oracle Support |https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html]
    - [Global Support Phone Numbers|http://www.oracle.com/support/contact.html]
    Support Identifiers were sent to directly supported customers in October 2009. If you misplaced your SI or never received one, please call the [Oracle Support hotline|http://www.oracle.com/support/contact.html] .
    If you contact Oracle Support by telephone, please note that Oracle's Customer Care team will take the call. The Customer Care team handles initial logging of all issues received by telephone, local language support and translation, exception handling, and handling of all non-technical questions and issues. The Customer Care team is available to handle all questions related to a customer's Support Identifier (SI) and can walk through the My Oracle Support registration process and logging of a new Service Request (SR), if needed.
    Technical Service Requests logged by customers either directly via My Oracle Support or via the Customer Care team will be automatically routed to the appropriate Primavera Support Engineer for technical issue triage, analysis, and resolution. Once your request is assigned to an Engineer, you can speak directly to the Engineer regarding the status of your request by calling the [Oracle Support hotline |http://www.oracle.com/support/contact.html] and entering your service request number. Doing so will transfer your call directly to the Engineer working on your request.

  • Maximum number of user mailboxes supported by single Exchange Database in 2007 / 2010 & 2013 ?

    What is the Maximum number of user mailboxes supported by single Exchange Database  in 2007 / 2010 & 2013 ?
    Aditya Mediratta

    Agree with Keith, there is no MB # limit, however there are practical concerns such as DB size and how that effects recoverability as well as performance.   In terms of extremes we had one major educational customer that had 35K Mailboxes in
    a single database so you can utilize a ridiculous # of mailboxes in a DB if desired.  IMO you are better off to keep the # of mailboxes to a reasonable level, i.e. no more than 250-500 mailboxes per DB
    Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline Exchange Mailbox and Public Folder EDB's and Live Exchange Servers or Import/Migrate direct from Offline EDB to Any Production Exchange Server, even cross version i.e. 2003 -->
    2007 --> 2010 --> 2013 with Lucid8's

  • Walk thru all database table records until match is found then delete

    I have a database connected form. It has a scipt that checks to see if that forms data has already been submitted by searching thru the records for the formID number. I want the records to be deleted if found and then add new records incase the form data has been changed. I can make this work once by using the script below. Is there a short way to make it continue searching and deleting all the records that start with that form ID number instead having to copy this script 12 times (maximum number of records allowed).
    var oFile = Subform1.FileName.formattedValue;
    var bFound = false;
    while(!oDB.isEOF()){
    if(xfa.record.DataConnection2.FileName.value == oFile){
    bFound = true;
    break;
    oDB.next();
    if(bFound){
    oDB.delete();
    oDB.update();

  • Bug in the  search database of Javahelp

    Hi all,
    in this project I am importing from Framemaker and generating Javahelp output. The Javahelp does not work when there are non-ASCII characters in the topic filenames (such as accents or umlauts). Therefore I have to adjust the file naming in the imort settings to "<$filename_no_ext>-<n>". As a result I get topics with numbered filenames and all seems well.
    BUT with this setting the Javahelp displays the totally cryptic filenames of the topics as search results. Why does Robohelp not create a search database with the topic titles as search results?
    How do you handle Javahelp projects for non-english languages?
    Robert

    I have the same problem. I have a registered domain name which contains a "-" character. Its not possible to set it correctly because it is filtered out. A "-" is an valid part of a domain name so why it is filtered? I have tried to edit the bootpd.plist file, but its getting overidden after a few seconds.
    Could anyone help? A fix is absolutely necessary, without it I have to change the search domain on all client computers.

  • Pagination support for non-Oracle databases?

    Hi,
    I just read this thread (Pagination Support on pagination support. Is there any way to get pagination with non-Oracle databases? We are using an IBM iSeries / AS/400 DB2 database right now, and we're planning to use some local lightweight database in the near future as well (probably Cloudscape/Derby or "IBM Everyplace database".)
    We currently use code like this:
    String sql = "SELECT art FROM Artikel art" +
                /* dynamically generated where statement is added here */
                + "ORDER BY art.artikelNummer";
    Query q = em.createQuery(sql);
    q.setFirstResult(firstResult);
    q.setMaxResults(maxResults);If I look in the TopLink logs, I see queries like this:
    SELECT ARTNR, ARALT, ARAFJ, ARXII, ARAVJ, ARXIV, ARANJ, AHGCD, ARNVJ, ARCRJ, ARARK, ARFKJ, ARTNK, ARGP1, ASGCD, ARGP2, ARPR1, ARGP3, ARPR2, AREX1, ARPR3, AREX2, ARPR4, AREX3, ARASA, ARINA, ASSCD, ARIA1, ARBAN, ARIN1, ARBAV, ARIA2, ARBAK, ARIN2, ARCES, ARIA3, ARCDT, ARIN3, ARCRE, ARIA4, ARCWK, ARIN4, ARHBH, ARIA5, ARDFA, ARIN5, ARDFG, ARIA6, ARDOS, ARIN6, AREPW, ARINN, ARFOD, ARIAS, ARFOE, ARINS, ARFOF, ARNAB, ARFOI, ARNIB, ARFON, ARNIA, ARFOS, ARNN1, ARFTA, ARNA2, ARVIV, ARNO2, ARGAP, ARNN3, ARGPT, ARNA4, ARGPD, ARNO4, ARGPA, ARNN5, ARGPO, ARNA6, ARHIS, ARNN6, ARISP, ARNIO, ARKHM, ARNNS, MAGCD, AROVJ, MTGCD, ARPL1, ARMXM, ARPL2, MRKCD, ARPL3, ARMVR, ARVKJ, ARMIM, ARV12, ARMDT, ARVVJ, ARMTE, AR#VR, ARMTU, ARZLS, ARMTM, ARIAT, ARMWK, ARAVS, MPCCD, ARNVS, ARBTW, ARFJS, ARXI2, ARG2S, ARXI3, ARE1S, ARXI4, ARE3S, ARXI6, ARIB1, ARXI1, ARIB2, ARXI5, ARIB3, AROPI, ARIB4, ARPRV, ARIB5, SZGCD, ARIB6, ARSPC, ARINO, ARSMF, ARIOS, VEAAN, ARNIS, ARSYN, ARNO1, ARVR1, ARNA3, ARV1S, ARNN4, ARVR2, ARNO5, ARV2S, ARNIN, ARVR3, ARNOS, ARV3S, ARP1S, ARTFA, ARP3S, ARTFG, ARS12, ARUVC, ARZLD, ARUCW, ARAJS, ARBKV, ARCJS, ARVVI, ARG3S, ARVVP, ARINB, VPOCD, ARIO2, VPECD, ARIO4, ARVIH, ARIO6, ARVHG, ARNBS, ARVRW, ARNN2, ARVPR, ARNA5, ARVVR, ARNAS, ARVVS, ARP2S, ARVV1, ARSVV, ARZK1, ARNJS, ARNA1, ARNO3, ARIO1, ARNO6, ARIO5, AROJS, ARE2S, ARVJS, ARIBS, ARIAD, ARIO3, ARG1S FROM ART WHERE ((((ARUVC = 'N') AND (ARHIS = 'N')) AND (ASGCD = 7)) AND (AHGCD = 15)) ORDER BY ARTNR ASC
    (Yeah, I know we have too much columns in the table...)
    So, no pagination in the query. As you can see, we have a mechanism in place to dynamically generate a where clause. This is because the user can set filters. The problem is, if our user sets a filter that causes the result set to be significantly smaller, the performance is way better than when he sets no filter at all. We suppose this is because the whole result set is sent to TopLink, regardless of the values of firstResult and maxResults.
    We are using TopLink Essentials 2.1-10, by the way.

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to subclass <tt>DatabasePlatform</tt> to add pagination support for the AS/400 DB2 database of my customer. To be fair, it is not going very well so far.
    The first problem is, the query Chris found by googling (Re: Pagination support for non-Oracle databases?), does not work for AS/400s version of DB2. In fact, although it is called "DB2", the database on the AS/400 system is a whole other database than the "normal" DB2 database that runs on Windows and *nix. The AS/400 DB2 simply does not have a "ROW_NEXT" function.
    Another option would be to use the <b>row_number() over()</b> mehtod. But, as can be read here, this function is only available from version V5R4 of OS/400. And guess what? We're stuck on V5R3 at this client. (We cannot upgrade, because there's an application in use that's written in Delphi and IBM dropped the Delphi binding from V5R4...)
    So I pretty much ran out of options. On the mailing list I linked to above, someone mentions the option to make a sort of stored procedure that generates a row count number. An example of how to do this can be found here. I implemented it, and ended up with this code:
    package com.myclientsname.persistence;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import java.sql.PreparedStatement;
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.expressions.ExpressionBuilder;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.internal.databaseaccess.DatabaseCall;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.internal.expressions.ExpressionSQLPrinter;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.internal.expressions.SQLSelectStatement;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.internal.sessions.AbstractSession;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.logging.SessionLog;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.platform.database.DatabasePlatform;
    import org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.SessionProfiler;
    public class AS400Platform extends DatabasePlatform {
        private static final long serialVersionUID = 0L;
        public AS400Platform(){
             super();
             super.setShouldBindAllParameters(false);
        public void printSQLSelectStatement(DatabaseCall call, ExpressionSQLPrinter printer, SQLSelectStatement statement) {
            int max = 0;
            int firstRow = 0;
            if (statement.getQuery()!=null){
                max = statement.getQuery().getMaxRows();
                firstRow = statement.getQuery().getFirstResult();
            if ( !(max>0) && !(firstRow>0) ){
                super.printSQLSelectStatement(call, printer,statement);
                return;
            } else {
                statement.setUseUniqueFieldAliases(true);
                ExpressionBuilder builder = new ExpressionBuilder();
                statement.addField(builder.getField("COUNTER() AS CNTR"));
                printer.printString("SELECT * FROM (");
                call.setFields(statement.printSQL(printer));
                printer.printString(") AS R WHERE R.CNTR >= ");
                printer.printParameter(DatabaseCall.FIRSTRESULT_FIELD);
                if ( max > 0 ){
                    // Use of binding parameters is not allowed here, so use
                    // String concatenation instead...
                    printer.printString(" FETCH FIRST " + max + " ROWS ONLY");
            call.setIgnoreFirstRowMaxResultsSettings(true);
        public boolean wasFailureCommunicationBased(SQLException exception, Connection connection, AbstractSession sessionForProfile){
            if (connection == null || this.pingSQL == null){
                //Without a connection we are  unable to determine what caused the error so return false.
                //The only case where connection will be null should be External Connection Pooling so
                //returning false is ok as there is no connection management requirement
                    //If there is no ping sql then we can not perform the ping.
                return false;
            PreparedStatement statement = null;
            try{
                sessionForProfile.startOperationProfile(SessionProfiler.ConnectionPing);
                if (sessionForProfile.shouldLog(SessionLog.FINE, SessionLog.SQL)) {// Avoid printing if no logging required.
                     sessionForProfile.log(SessionLog.FINE, SessionLog.SQL, getPingSQL(), (Object[])null, null, false);
                statement = connection.prepareStatement(getPingSQL());
                ResultSet result = statement.executeQuery();
                result.close();
                statement.close();
            }catch (SQLException ex){
                try{
                    // Had to add this check because of NullPointerExceptions
                    // (maybe a bug?)
                    if(statement != null){
                        //try to close statement again in case the query or result.close() caused an exception.
                        statement.close();
                } catch (SQLException exception2) {
                    //ignore;
                return true;
            }finally{
                sessionForProfile.endOperationProfile(SessionProfiler.ConnectionPing);
            return false;
    }(As you can see, I had to override the <tt>wasFailureCommunicationBased()</tt> method as well, due to some unexpected NPE's. (A bug, perhaps?))
    This code does work. However, the performance is not very well. The first page comes relatively fast, but as you browse further in the table, each page comes slower. I assume this is because the counter() method has to be evaluated for each row in the table.
    I have to get the performance better and constant. Does anyone have an idea how to optimize this further?
    Best regards,
    Bart Kummel

  • SP1 to R2 Upgrade - The installed Version of SQL Server is not supported for the operational database

    Hello,
    Am trying to upgrade a SCOM SP1 environment to SCOM R2( 3 MGT servers, 1 GW and 2 Web console boxes )
    The prerequisites are failing and it is stating the following ;
    Operational Database SQL Version Check - The installed Version of SQL Server is not supported for the operational database
    Data Warehouse  SQL Version Check - The installed Version of SQL Server is not supported for the data warehouse
    The SQL servers are running SQL 2012 SP1 64 Enterprise, which is compatible.
    All other pre-upgrade tasks have been done.
    Help appreciated!

    I'm having the exact same issue, I believe. I think that Tubble has problem with SCOM 2012. Not 2007.
    I've checked the compatibility list for both SCOM 2012 SP1 and R2. All newer Windows Server and SQL versions are supported. We're running the SQL 2012 SP1 x64 Standard edition on a Windows Server 2012 Standard.
    I even tried to move the database from SQL 2012 to an older SQL 2008 R2, but that's not supported either. Only upgrading. Not downgrading.
    So, I started checking the opsMgrSetupWizard.log file for clues. And the error message was there as well. But the reason why it says not supported is that it can't get the info about the OS version, so I guess it assumes the OS version is to low. The RPC
    service can not be reached.

    So, in our case this was just a FW that was blocking some high ports between management server and SQL. I believe TCP port 135 also needs to be open.
    Let's hope this fixes your issue as well, Tubble.
    Have a great day!

  • BO XI3.1: Support for Greenplum/PostGres Database

    Is Support for GreenPlum /Postgres database schedule for next service pack of BO XI3.1?
    With Postgres database - we have support only in Crystal and not in BO according to supported platform guide.
    Could you please advise whether we have scheduled the support for GreenPlum/Postgres database for BOXI 3.1 - in the next release of BOXI 3.1 SP2 ?
    Information from customer :
    - for Postgres database with ODBC drivers are working ok.
    - whether GreenPlum database is going to be supported in the next service pack
    - whether Postgres JDBC drivers could be used to Connect to GreenPlum Database instead of Postgres ODBC Drivers.
    Could you please advise on this database support as requested by customer ?
    Regards,
    Ganesh

    Hi, I've experienced using Greenplum database and odbc PostsgreSQl
    For BOE 3.1, you can create Webi, but not applicable with dashboard part. Where it cannot recognized the Postgre driver.
    Currently i'm trying to use another driver from DataDirect.
    Thats all for now.

  • How do I index a new search database?

    I want to create a robot and run it against a URL and build an index( RDs), on my own defined search database. But only the default database get's indexed.
    How do I point my Robot to my new defined search database?
    Also I would like to be able to index a file system (a directory that contains only XML files). I have already created my filter specifying to allow any file with the extension .xml. but it doesn't seem to work? What do I need to do?
    Thanks.

    I think I understand what you are trying to do. I assume that you have created a new database from the admin console, and now you want to use the robot to index that database?
    If that's the case you should be able to specify the database to populate, when defining a site for the robot to crawl. The option to set the database to populate is right at the bottom of the screen of the site editor, after the filter definitions and the advanced option.
    Hope this helps.
