Suppress fields based on values

Hi, I am trying to create an expense report in livecycle where if someone selects from a drop
down, based on the result picked, it would show a different field to fill in. If they don't pick a specific dropdown that has extra fields, then those fields stay hidden.
For example, if they pick "mileage" from the dropdown, it will show a field to put in the mileage and then the total would show the qty * mileage rate.
If they pick "meeting", it would show a field to put in the description of meeting and another field to put in attendees.
I'm not sure how to do "hidden" fields. I know how to do suppression formulas in crystal but don't see that as an option with livecycle. Please help!

First off, there is an example here which goes through the scripting method of changing an object's presence: http://assure.ly/h7whb8.
The easiest way may be to group the objects for each category of the dropdown into subforms and then show and hide the subforms as necessary.
For example the following in the exit event of the dropdown:
// hide all subforms
travelSF.presence = hidden;
meetingSF.presence = hidden;
// check the value of the dropdown and show the appropriate subform
switch (this.rawValue)
     case "Mileage":
     travelSF.presence = "visible";
     break;
     case "Meeting":
     meetingSF.presence = "visible";
     break;
Now a lot depends on whether you are using repeating objects in a flowed layout, where the user can add more rows. IF so you may need a more detailed solution.

Hi,
Using OVS you can achieve this., In OVS Event Handler read the value based on which you want to display F4 for other field and populate the values based on the first field.

APEX 4.1 show hide fields based on value of checkbox/radio

I am trying to successfully hide and show fields based on the value of a clicked checkbox. I am using a dynamic action, but it isn't working.
I followed the sample at Does Oracle Apex 4 enable the following AJAX features? (ie without the dev writing the Javascript) - Stack Overflow
I even tried a radio button, but it didn't work. I cannot uncheck the radio button. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for any help you can provide.

     create a dynamic action for page load to hide the item which you wanna hide
     now create another dynamic action
     event : Click
     Selection Type : Items
     Items : P1_Check_box(name of the check box item)
     condition : equal to
     value : return value of the check box item (if you click the check box and the return value is 1 then just add 1)
     in true actions
     Action : Show
    Selection Type : Items
     Items : P1_Text_field(name of the field)
     uncheck fire on page load
     create exact opposite false action, that's it.

Display text fields based on value

I have a form that has 7 text fields that are to be filled out. I have an ajax process that auto-populates those 7 fields with values based off of the return value of a pop-up dynamic LOV. Is there any way that I can hide the last 5 fields based on a certain value of one of the text fields?
For example, my fields are:
P1_Badge (LOV query)
P1_First_Name
P1_Last_Name
P1_Title
P1_Phone
P1_Room_No
P1_Email
P1_Fax
The LOV returns a Badge number and populates the rest of the values. But if the Last_Name = 'Smith' then I only want to display Badge, First_Name, and Last_Name and I want to hide the rest of the fields or make them disabled for editing.
Is this possible without any kind of page submit?

Deriving 1 Value from 2 Fields Based on Values in Fields

I have a query that needs to return 1 of my values based on the values from 2 fields from 2 tables. However, the value should only be returned in 1 field and one of the fields should be evaluated first. If this first evaluated field has a certain value ('Y') then the other field is ignored.
To be more clear, per the normal query below, what I want is to somehow, if possible, combine the case t2.el_contr and case t1.contr_type statements so that one field, say: mbr_contr_type_desc returns a value.
So that if the value of t2.el_contr is 'Y' then 'SUB CHILD' is returned. It is important that this field should be evaluated first (If the value of it is 'Y' then the other field evaluation can be ignored). If this is not 'Y', then t1.contr_type should be evaluated and the values as listed below also returned to mbr_contr_type_desc.
I know the following isn't correct, but it might better illustrate what I'm trying to do (the normal query is below this)

One other (unrelated) question..when i hit the CTRL+LEFT ARROW* button in my SQL window, it will not tab back. This is really annoying! I have looked through PREFERENCES-EDITOR and can't seem to find any setting that will allow this. Do you know of any way to change this so I can tab backwards/fowards through code in the SQL window?

Hi Prajk, sounds like you want to do cascading dropdowns. If so, see the link below. If you're just trying to enter information into a field (not a dropdown) based off the value of the dropdown, then set a rule so that if dropdown = "this," set
the field's value to "this."

How to display f4 help for a field based on value of another field

Hello All,
I have 4 fields : Sales Org : VBAK-VKORG, Distrib Channel : RV50A-VTWEG, Div : RV50A-SPART, Sold-to-party : KUAGV-KUNNR.
The second field depends on the first one, the third on the second one and the fourth on the first field.
However, when each of the second third and fourth fields' f4 help is displayed, the values are independent of the previous fields. How do I set the f4 help to display values based on the respective fields?

Update/Insert into two fields based on value of one.

How would I do the following in ADDT.
Example:
I have a database about dogs. When user completes form they make a selection from a recordset feed drop down box of breeds. Lets say they select "PUG" based on the selection two fields are populated from the same recordset size="small" and color="brown".

Disable fields based on value selected from first list box.

Hi All,
I am facing a problem in module pool programing. My scenario is there will be around 50 fields in the screen , within that first field is a drop down list box. In the list box there will be electricuty , gas and csw. If user select gas then the fields corresponding to gas will only be editable other fields not relevent to gas will be non editable(Disable).... Same case for electriciy andcsw also.
Can any one guide me regarding this....

I have a use case where I want to show or hide fields based on values populated in SelectOneChoice. I have View master and View Lookup, master has a field named product which displayed selectiononechoice of product name built using lookup view as accessor. I am storing id of lookup type inside product column. Based on a product name say "abc" I want to hide subsequent fields. Can anyone please tell me how to implement this?

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to show/hide subsequent fields based on the value selected from a selectonechoice?
Did you try using partial triggers and EL for setting the rendered attribute on subsequent fields and setting autosubmit to true on selectonechoice?

Assign a name based on values

I can't figure out how to display a name of a field based on values. Here is what I have:
{SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL1}
{SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL2}
{SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL3}
{Tax.ID} - IDs are 1,2 and 3
{Tax.NAME}
I want to assign the {Tax.Name} to the the corresponding {SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL#}.
I have 3 IDs in Tax.ID (1,2,3). I want to create a text field with the appropriate tax name. {SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL1} corresponds with {Tax.ID} 1 and therefore should display {Tax.NAME} where {Tax.ID} = 1.
Same for {Tax.NAME} 2 and 3
On my Report I would like to have something like this in the footer section.
(TaxName1) {SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL1}
(TaxName2) {SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL2}
(TaxName3) {SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL3}
Do I need to create a formula or SQL expression? Any help will be appreciated.

That doesn't work...my footers look like this then...

Group Footer #1b: {Tax.Name} {SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL2}
Group Footer #1c: {Tax.Name} {SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL3}
and the output is pretty crazy.
I need to be able to create a variable like
Set @Tax1 as {Tax.Name} where {Tax.ID} = 1
That way I can just put the variable on a footer along with {SEAT_RECORD.TAX_TOTAL1} and get what I need.

WEBI prompt based on bex variable suppress not assigned hashtag value in LOV

Hi,
is it possible to suppress the "Not assigned (#)" value from the list of values in a webi prompt based on a bex variable?
This "Not assigned" value is something BW specific, BW adds this to each characteristic automatically?!

It needs to work in WEBI, not only in RSRT, and the filtering of data still needs to work.
For rsrt it works, when you exclude the not assigned value in "Filter > Characteristic Restrictions" and use the bex variable in/through "Filter > Default Values", but this does not work in WEBI, because the BEX Query Data is not filtered on the in the prompt selected value.

I could manage to avoid # values in WebI prompt using BAdI implementation, here is the brief:
Problem:
WebI report prompt (which shows BEx variable) list of values shows blanks or # . Rrequirement was to avoid these blanks or #
Environment:
BW 7.3
BO 4.0
BW Cube > BEx Query > OLAP Connection > WebI report
Solution:
InfoObject Level1 in BW had # values in masterdata, this could not be deleted since it was in use with other Cubes.
Vaurable Var_Level1 displays # when pressed F4 running BEx query and in list of values in WebI report prompt.
I implemented BAdI on Level1 info object and variable Var_Level1.
Steps to implement BAdI are as in following link

PM Notification - Hide fields based on other field's value

Hello experts,
I am looking for an user exit which allows me to hide some fields based on other field's value.
For example, I have field 1 and field 2. When I open my notification, if the value of field 2 is 'aaa', field 1 has to be hidden.
There should be an user exit but I can't find it...
