Suppress Print Dialog
I have a VB6 application that includes a Crystal Reports 9 Viewer. When I make the call to show the form with a report, a print dialog displays prior to the viewer. If the user clicks the print button on the viewer, they are presented with the print dialog a second time.
I don't want to eliminate the print dialog completely, I just don't want to have it come up until the print button is clicked. Is there a way to display the viewer with the report without having to also go through the print dialog?
Thanks,
Jack
Thanks for your reply Don.
I have to apologize. I forgot how I wrote the program (it was over 5 years ago), so I did not ask the question properly.
I make the following calls:
CRViewer.Report.PrinterSetup CRViewer.hwnd
CRViewer.ViewReport
After I looked at my comments in the source code, I realize why I had to call PrinterSetup prior to the ViewReport call: When the user clicks the Printer button on the viewer control after the report is displayed, the dialog that displays does NOT include the option to select a printer, only the page range, number of copies, and collate.
An easy way to see what I am describing is to bring up a report in CR X or earlier and select Print and then Printer from the File menu.
My programs written in VS.Net 2008 and CR 2008 do not have this problem. If you bring up a report in CR 2008 and select Print from the File menu, it displays a complete print dialog that includes printer selection, printer preferences, orientation, etc.
Let me re-state my question:
Is there a way I can have the print dialog box that is displayed when the user clicks the printer button on the CR IX Viewer control also include the ability to select a printer?
Thank you,
Jack

How to suppress print dialog box from popping up under a condition
Greetings...
There may be a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do, so I'm open to outside-the-box suggestions.
I have a pretty simple page which lists a set of statuses and descriptions of each. The user can edit these status flags and their descriptions on the page as well. When I view the page in "printer friendly" mode, I see a nice simple report of what the statuses are and their descriptions. Everything works great so far.
In our work request system built in ApEx, there's a page where someone can view the details of a work request, including the current status. When someone clicks on the help of that item, what I'd love to do is simple show the "printer friendly" version the status page mentioned above in a pop up window. My problem is that the print dialog box automatically shows up when a page is displayed in "printer friendly" mode and I do not want this to happen in this case.
I see the javascript code in the Printer Friendly page template which causes the print dialog box to show up automatically, but I don't want to remove it in the template just for this one case. This would suppress the print dialog box on all "printer friendly" page views and the users are used to it showing up when they ask to print the page.
I guess I could create a custom request to pass to the master status page which would pretty much do everything that the "printer friendly" mode is doing, but that seems like a lot of work when I'm so close to using something that is built in.
Am I not seeing some simple other way of doing it or perhaps asking too much? Any suggestions?
Shane.Hi,
I think you have to call the FM GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS and pass NO_DIALOG = 'X'.
Something like:
CALL FUNCTION 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'
EXPORTING
no_dialog = 'X'
IMPORTING
out_parameters = ls_params
valid = lv_valid
EXCEPTIONS
OTHERS = 1.
NEW-PAGE PRINT ON PARAMETERS ls_params NO DIALOG.
* Display Table
lr_table->display( ).
add: Spool numbers can be found in TSP01 or in system field SY-SPONO available in the submitting program...
Hope it helps,
Kr,
m.

I want to print a alv report by passing value in IS_PRINT export parameter which is working prefectly. But I want to suppress the dialog box which is appearing while printing and printing should go to spool directly is it possible.Hi,
You could try something like:
CALL FUNCTION 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS'
EXPORTING
no_dialog = 'X'
IMPORTING
out_parameters = ls_params
valid = lv_valid
EXCEPTIONS
OTHERS = 1.
NEW-PAGE PRINT ON PARAMETERS ls_params NO DIALOG.
* Display Table
lr_table->display( ).

Smartform does not display when trying to suppress print dialog
this is related to my other thread. But that was solved and this is another problem.
When I provide values for control_parameters and output_options to suppress the print dialog (no_dialog = 'X', tddest = 'LOCL'), the print preview does appear at all.
When I try to remove them, the print preview is ok. (I have device LOCL)
Has this ever happened to you?
KyleHi ,
This will be happen when the LOCL printer(Default) is configured in SAP
Check your user settings in su01 Defaults Settings - uotput device

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement where in we want the following:
When Print Button / Option in web templates, is clicked, report gets printed in PORTRAIT mode, without showing the Print dialog box.
Please let us know how could this be achieved.
Thanks,
Shantanu.In the Print Button option of your web template, unflag the "Show Export Dialog" in the "Command" sub menu, and select the print options (Portrait and so on ...)
If you want to do so for all the queries, change the 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN, or the ZANALYSIS_PATTERN you've maybe created. -

How to suppress the Print Dialog Box?
Running an (ASP.NET /Crystal Reports 2008) application and using CrystalReportViewer control. Is there way to suppress the print dialog box when I click the print icon on the report tool bar?
Edited by: juRamz on Aug 26, 2009 2:54 PMHello,
Sort of, CR needs the info. Only option is to create your own print button that has all the info filled in. It's a Windows Framework Common dialog box that CR calls so it's the OS that is prompting for the info.
Using ReportClientDoc here's a possible solution, note that this too has a dialog box to select the printer:
private void button1_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) // Print To Printer button
System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument pDoc = new System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument();
PrintReportOptions rasPROpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.PrintReportOptionsClass();
CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions newOpts = new PrintOptionsClass();
//CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.PrintOptions newOpts = new PrintOptionsClass();
pDoc.PrinterSettings.PrinterName = cboCurrentPrinters.Text;
rasPROpts.PrinterName = cboCurrentPrinters.Text;
rasPROpts.PaperSize = (CrPaperSizeEnum)
pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSizes[cboCurrentPaperSizes.SelectedIndex].Kind;
rasPROpts.PaperSource = (CrPaperSourceEnum)
pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSources[cboDefaultPaperTrays.SelectedIndex].Kind;
// new API added to allow changing printing options
newOpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions();
newOpts.DissociatePageSizeAndPrinterPaperSize = true;
rptClientDoc.PrintOutputController.ModifyPageMargins(0, 0, 0, 0);
rptClientDoc.PrintOutputController.PrintReport(rasPROpts);
MessageBox.Show("Printing report.", "RAS", MessageBoxButtons.OK,MessageBoxIcon.Information );
Thank you

Download smartform as PDF, suppress Print/Preview dialog
Hi Experts,
Facing some issues in downloading PDF converted from Smartform.
In the program I am trying directly download a smartform converted into PDF format and save it in local system.
When ever I am trying to execute the program it shows up the Print/Preview dialog before showing the Save As dialog.
I have passed control_parameters-getotf = 'X' to the smartform runtime FM, which ideally should have suppressed the Print/Preview dialog and return the otfdata.
Here the entire code is...

Suppress "Print ALV List" dialog.
HI All,
Is there a way of suppressing the "Print ALV List" dialog that is displayed when you print an alv using REUSE_ALV_BLOCK_LIST_DISPLAY. The is_print parameters does not contain any option, though there is a supress_dynpro option before the dialog is called, not sure how to set this is_print parameters.

Print Dialog in Reader 10.0.1
It seems that in "upgrading" to 10.0.1, Adobe has created its own print dialog which supersedes the driver print dialog. The driver print dialog appeared when choosing Print from Adobe Reader in previous versions, and appears when choosing Print in other applications.
The Adobe print dialog is inconvenient -- for example, in order to print specific pages, one cannot tab into the field of pages but must use the mouse to select the "Pages" radio dialog button.
Additionally, if I want to print duplex, I must select "Printer" -- again with the mouse -- then I obtain the driver print dialog, select Print, am returned to the Adobe Reader print dialog, and select Print again.
How do I suppress the Adobe print dialog and go directly to the driver print dialog?
To be clear, the Reader print dialog contains five buttons across the bottom Printing Tips" "Page Setup" "Printers" ""Advanced" and "Summarize Contents"
the driver print dialog lists "Printer" "Presets" "Copies" "Pages" and then a drop-down list that changes what is below -- this drop-down list includes "Layout" "Color Matching" and others. It does include as well two options that would possibly confuse Reader, in the bottom left "PDF" and "Preview"
Still, the Reader print dialog is very convoluted.If you Look down at Bottom of the Acrobat Printer menu
The page setup, and printer, are hidden click on Acrobat's Printer Menu at these arrows. Adjust page setup and choose printer. Setup printer as you would in other applications.
I agree another Dumb A.. idea from the people at adobe. Why they want t screw with something that has worked for 15 years or so. The person responsible should get Flogged with 30 lashes.
I would like to go to these software R&D department, sit in front of a Computer, make the people look and show them how dumb there Ideas are. Any body who thinks this method is logical faster, is smoking something they shouldn't. -
Print dialog poping up for WF-BATCH
Within my background task method, I do BDC on tcode IMA2N to add measures to an existing Appropriation request.This works perfectly when I execute the object method from SWO1.
But when this method is called from workflow it throws an error u201CNo batch input data for screen SAPLSPRI 0100u201D. This is a print dialog which pops up from function module u201CGET_PRINT_PARAMETERSu201D, called from standard program.
Is there any way to suppress this screen? Please help.
The error is thrown only for user WF-BATCH. Is it related to user settings or something?
(SAP note 904406 confirm that we could do BDC on IMA2N. )Thanks Vijay for the answer.
Actually Ihe entire logic was in a Function module which just takes in AR number and returns BAPIRET2 table for errors.
Once I found that this is failing, I even tried by placing it in a report with parameter as AR number and called it by SUBMIT AND RETURN. Both Failed.
Now I need to see if it workf on converting recording directly to Function module and call it from BO method, as suggested in the blog link provided. I will update if it is successful. Thanks. -
Printing multiple screen objects (ALV+GFW) with only 1 print dialog pop-up?
All,
This is related to my previous post at:
Re: How to print multiple ALV Grids with only one print dialog?
but there is still one open question...
My requirement is to create reports that will be called through portals; those reports are a combination of charts and the associated list output describing the data of each chart.
In my first report (4 charts), I created a screen with 8 custom containers: 4 on the left hand side for the charts and 4 to the right for the list output.
To create the charts I am using the Graphical Framework (GFW) and for the ALVs the new CL_SALV* classes.
Everything works fine on the screen, but the users also want to print the report. I got them to the point where they will accept a separate printout (page) for every object (e.g. chart and ALV) of the report.
I put a print button through the GUI status on the screen and trigger the associated print events in the program; this works fine as well, but the problem is that for every output (in this case 8) a print dialog appears and prompts the user for a printer selection. This the users won't accept and - quite frankly - I wouldn't either ;).
Now, in my previous post someone pointed me to the use of the REUSE* function modules to append the ALVs and then print them together; this works and reduces the print dialog to only one for the ALVs.
Even though this is an option, I am still kind of hesitant: why using all the great new OO stuff via the CL_SALV* classes to bring the ALVs on the screen, just to go back to the old approach for the printouts???
Especially since I still cant figure out how to combine the GFW objects in one print or even better how to suppress the dialog by passing the information behind the scenes either.
As of now, I have 2 options:
- 8 print dialogs (OO only)
- 5 print dialogs (using the REUSE approach for the ALVs and triggering the chart prints individually)
Does anyone see a way to bring it down to ONE?
Thanks,
Guenther

Update: I found the solution for the ALVs!
Even though I am using the
"new-page print on parameters G_S_PRINT_PARAMETERS no dialog" statement, the dialogs still appeared; reason for this was that I also set:
"L_O_PRINT->SET_PRINT_ONLY( IF_SALV_C_BOOL_SAP=>TRUE )" before I output the ALV table.
After removing this, the ALVs are printing without pop-up!!!
Unfortunately the GFWs still prompt for the printer selectionHi,
Mine is also same requirement and i could not even generate multiple print dialogs.Can i have your code to compare with my code please.
I am displaying container information on 200 screen PBO. I have added one custom print button to the grid tool bar(remaing container toolbar print buttons i have disabled). Once i click on custom print button a popup is coming and when i click on continue(one container informtion print is coming) and it is coming to 100 screen(in this, i am calling selection screen as a subscree) and subsequent print dialog is not coming.
Thanks & Regards
