Suppress "Select Image" Dialog in Image Field

Hi everybody,
does anybody know how to suppress the "Select Image" dialog when clicking an image field? I want to use an image as a button, but everytime I click it this dialog appears first before executing the script of the click event.
Or do you have other ideas how to use an image as a button?
Thanks & best regards,
Matthias

Images as buttons are not supported in Adobe.
For a workaround check Juergen's reply here --> Adding Image in Button.

A couple things can cause this.
Right click on the red x to find out the name of the png file.  Search the web server for that png and make sure that the asp worker has access to it.
The other is a image handler issue.  Search the kbase for Red X NET 2005 and you will find a kbase or two that addresses this.

  • LiveCycle Designer 8.0 - Image Field Issue

I am using LiveCycle Designer 8. Ive inserted an image field and when I test it, the image doesnt scale proportionally even though the properties are set up correctly (Scale image proportionally). I understand that in order to get this to work, the files needs to be saved as a dynamic PDF, but I don't have an option of saving as a dynamic PDF. The only "Save as" type options I have are Adobe 7 (Static) PDF Form and Adobe 8 (Static) PDF Form. I also don't have an option of saving as a "dynamic" PDF in the Acrobat Save As window.
Is there a way to work around this or am I doing something wrong. The file was designed in InDesign, exported to a PDF and then brought into LiveCycle to insert text fields and an image field for a user to input their contact info and their logo. The 5 text fields work perfectly and the one image field works EXCEPT for scaling proportionally even though the properties for that field are set correctly.
    I appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

Did you import the file using "Create an Interactive Form with Fixed Pages" as your selection on the Import dialog? If so, this brings in the original InDesign PDF as "artwork" (a background layer) on which your form fields are placed. This document can't be dynamic. That might be the issue.

  • Image field on acrobat professional x.

I'm trying to create an image field in a form that i've already done. Javascript action isn't working at all.
Any suggestions? How can i do that? Or i really MUST HAVE acrobat livecycle designer, a windows software, from more than 4 years ago because a type of button is missing in professional X for mac?

If it has to work with Reader, an image field created in Acrobat won't work. If you want the user to be able to select an image file from a dialog, then an XFA form created in LiveCycle Designer is the only option. Reader users are able to paste images from the clipboard if the document has usage rights that allows it, but the user has to somehow copy the image to the clipboard.
Whenever this comes up I urge folks to submit a feature request. You can add to this one and I'll give you a few points: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/743823?tstart=0

  • How to create a report in Form line Style and can display Image field?

    Hi,
In Report builder 10g, I would like to create a Report with Form Line Style and this report included a Image field.
I can choose this Style only when Select Report type is Paper Layout. Because, If I choose Create both Web & Paper Layout or Create Web Layout only then in the next Style tab 03 option Form, Form letter and Mailing Label be Disabled.
But in Paper Layout, my report can not display Image field.
I tried with Web layout and all the other Styles (Except 03 mentioned be Disabled) then all Styles are displayed Imager field OK.
How to create a report in Form line Style and can display Image field?
I was change File Format property of my Image field from text to Image already in Property Inspector. But report only showed MM for my Image field.

Here you go..Just follow these steps blindly and you are done.
    1) Create a year prompt with presentation variable as pv_year
    2) Create a report say Mid report with year column selected 3 times
    - Put a filter of pv_year presentation variable on first year column with a default value say @{pv_year}{2008}
    - Rename the second time column say YEAR+1 and change the fx to CAST(TIME_DIM."YEAR" AS INT)+1
    - Rename the second time column say YEAR-1 and change the fx to CAST(TIME_DIM."YEAR" AS INT)-1
Now when you will run Mid Report, this will give you a records with value as 2008 2009 2007
    3) Create your main report with criteria as Year and Measure col
    - Change the fx for year column as CAST(TIME_DIM."YEAR" AS INT)
    - Now put a filter on year column with Filter based on results of another request and select these:
Relationship = greater than or equal to any
Saved Request = Browse Mid Report
Use values in Column = YEAR-1
    - Again, put a filter on year column with Filter based on results of another request and select these:
Relationship = less than or equal to any
Saved Request = Browse Mid Report (incase it doesn't allow you to select then select any other request first and then select Mid Report)
Use values in Column = YEAR+1
This will select Year > = 2007 AND Year < = 2009. Hence the results will be for year 2007,2008,2009
    This will 100% work...

  • Is there a way of hiding the ? symbol if a record's image field is blank?

    If that makes sense....
Basically I've set up a details page on a site that allows the site owner to display up to three images. However, sometimes they'll only upload one or two images.
Which currently looks like this :
    http://www.travel7107.com/destinationDetails.php?destinationID=57
Is there some way to get rid of the little ? icons where the image field is empty?
I tried uploading a small white image, and setting the fields to blank.gif as the default, but the file upload script seems to overwrite those with an empty field if no image is selected to upload.
So at the moment I've given them that small image to use if they don't have images, but it would be good to know if there was a way of avoiding that step?

Thanks for that. Not sure I'm getting the syntax quite right though.
The original lines look like this :
    <img border="0" src="/destinationdetailpic.php?file=images/destinationpics/<?php echo $row_WADAdestinations["image_2"]; ?>">
So I thought it should be :
    <img src="/destinationdetailpic.php?file=images/destinationpics/<?php echo $row_WADAdestinations["image_2"] = true ? $row_WADAdestinations["image_2"] : ''; ?>" alt="">
    But that's not right :

  • Manipulation of the size of an image inserted into an Image Field

    Hi,
I'm learning LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 as I go. My apologies for the lengthy post but I'm trying to give you as much background as possible.
I'm are trying to design a form that will allow us to automate data entry (by importing fields into our Access dbase instead doing the data entry by hand).  However, at the end of the day, I also need an electronic pdf file of the same form and a printed paper copy.  Things have been going well until working with the Image Field.
The form is fairly complicated - 4 pages long.  We're collecting extensive data on specific locales (location, what was seen there, who did the work, etc). On one page, three different images (maps) are needed, each one showing different details on the site's location.  [Please note these images will not be imported into the database but must appear in the electronic pdf and on the paper copy.] The people who fill out the forms are expected to do so using Adobe Reader (the form will have extended rights so that they can save the data they enter on the form).  They would then email us the form as an xml file.  Once we receive the form, we have to add some additional information and then the finalized paper copy and electronic pdf would be made.  We have already done this successfully with much simpler forms, none of which have needed Image fields.
Here's my problem - one of the three maps required is a standard 1:50000 scale topographic map which shows things like contour lines and latitude/longitude lines.   For accuracy and comparison reasons, having the standard 1:50000 scale is very important to us, so we can make absolutely certain the submitter has the right location.  If the dot plotted on the map is out just a few millimeters, we're looking at an error that represents 100s of meters on the ground.
The current form exists in Word - we have never had any rules about the image formats used (jpg, gif, etc) or the resolution, as long as the image was clear.  The only rule was that the scale of the topographical map image HAD to be at 1:50000 scale.  This gets very tricky because Word will automatically mess with the physical appearance of the image, based on its resolution.  In most cases, the submitter simply readjusted the image within Word, stretching/resizing it manually until the scale was correct.  Another option was to use an image in the emf file format so that Word didn't readjust the image's appearance based on its resolution. Whatever method they used was fine by us, as long as the scale was correct.
So far, after playing with all the "sizing" options of the Image field, along with embedding or not embedding the file, I do not see any way to control the physical size of the image. On our form, the three image fields are different sizes, with 2 of them being small (~2x3 inches) and the 3rd being large (~7x7 inches). Regardless of the settings I chose for each image field, the program simply resizes the topographic map whatever Image field it was inserted into,  making the same image appear physically smaller or larger at will.  I cannot correct the scale by resizing it, like I can in Word.   Instead, when I try to select the image, all I am asked is if I wish to insert another image.  Inserting an .emf file format into the field doesn't work - it only shows a blank screen instead of the image.
Is there a way for the user to adjust the image's physical size in the form, after inserting it (like they can do in Word)?  Demanding that everyone use a standardized resolution or image format also seems highly unlikely to work - there are too many submitters and too many programs that can be used to make the image (some are making them using GIS programs, others are scanning the bought topographic print).  I'd appreciate any help you can give me on this.  I have had very little luck tracking down discussions on Image fields and how they work best within LiveCycle.  Any comments would be helpful!

    Hi,
I have an example here that is intended to demonstrate the difference between Positioned and Flowed subforms: http://assure.ly/i8pSdy.
This shows how you can use a slider to change the dimensions of the image object.
I have extended this to an example with buttons to scale the image: http://assure.ly/i8ZI5Y
This may not be fine enough for your purposes, but it may give you some ideas.
    Good luck,

  • InDesign equivalent of LiveCycle's "Image Field" in PDF form creation?

LiveCycle has a PDF form field called "Image Field". We add this field to the PDF files we create so that our end users can select and import a JPEG image into their PDF document using Adobe Reader.
Now we would like to use InDesign to produce the same PDF form files as an alternative to using LiveCycle. Does InDesign have a PDF form field like LiveCycle's "Image Field"? We haven't found it yet.
In other words, does someone know in InDesign how to create a field in PDF forms which has the same functionality as LiveCycle's "Image Field"? LiveCycle's field works in enabled Adobe Reader files, and permits JPEG format, among others.
    Thank you,
    Kevin
P.S. We discovered a way to create PDF forms in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI with similar functionality by using JavaScript, but the Acrobat Pro created documents only permit Adobe Reader to import PDF files, not JPEG or other image formats. So Adobe Acrobat Pro XI was not a viable alternative to LiveCycle for creating our PDF files. We'd like to know if we need to rule out InDesign, too.

It's worth separating out the different responsibilities and products.
Whether a functionality exists in Reader depends on the Acrobat team. Reader, being free, is limited by design, the aim of the design being to sell copies of Acrobat. Obviously, Reader can't make PDFs or do preflighting. Less obviously, there are a bunch of JavaScript functions that don't work. Sometimes, with Reader enabling, more functions become available. (There are different kinds of Reader enabling, some of which need very expensive extra products).
Whether a form capability exists at all is largely down to the PDF specification (now an ISO standard) or the XFA specification. Adobe can choose to go beyond the specification but largely choose not to.
So, the InDesign team can make form fields, not because the Acrobat team approves, but because the way this is done is written down in the PDF Specification. InDesign _could_ choose to make XFA forms, but thank goodness that will never happen.
So, if you want InDesign forms to do something you first have to ask: can Acrobat forms to this. NOT XFA (LIveCycle forms) which are done by a different team to different rules. So far as I know Acrobat forms cannot do the sort of thing you want; that is, placing arbitrary graphics, but in certain circumstances they can place PDF files.
    Why make the distinction?
    - If Acrobat can make forms that do this, then so can InDesign: it's worth asking the InDesign people to do it.
    - If Adobe limit Adobe Reader, there is no use asking the InDesign team to solve this.
    - If Acrobat can't make forms that do this, then nor can InDesign.

  • Populating multiple image fields with single user-defined image

    Hello,
I am fairly new to LiveCycle and am looking to include a user-specified image in the header of each page of my dynamic form.
I've succeeded in including the image form at the head of each page using a master page, but each image form only affects the page it is on. Ideally, I would like to have the user be able to select the image on one page, and have all of the image fields populate.
Is there any way to use a script to populate the other images when the first image is selected by the user? I tried setting the rawValue of one image to that of another once the other is chosen, but had no success.
    Thanks,
    Michelle

Thank you for the responses. I have already updated awhile ago, so I am wondering what happened. Not sure if during the server update, some files were replaced (unless I totally forgot to update to 1.0.1 on this site). So I reinstalled 1.0.1, deleted the includes folder from the server and uploaded my includes folder and it now works again.
    Again, thanks for the help.

  • Can a display image field be changed with javascript

I have a select list (P3_RECON_CONDITION). when it changes It triggers javascript..
in that javascript I would like it to change a Display Image field (P3_RECON_COLOR) without having to refresh the whole page..
P3_RECON_COLOR is a Display image filed that gets its image from a blob from SQL:
    select color from projstat.condition_color, projstat.project where condition_color.condition = nvl(:P3_RECON_CONDITION,'W') and project.job_piece = :P3_JOB_PIECE
the display field works now, but only for what the P3_RECON_CONDITION is when the page is loaded..

yes, I tried that, but couldn't figure out how to do the: " dynamic action refresh the item P3_RECON_COLOR"
    I have
    Event: Change
    Selection Type: Item
    Item: P3_RECON_CONDITION (the select list)
    no condition
    TRUE ACTION: Refresh
    Fire when True:
    Selection Type: Item
    Item: P3_RECON_COLOR (the display image)
(if I change the action to submit page.. it does fire.. but the refresh item does nothing..)

  • How do you Auto Duplicate "Image" in Image field for multi pages

Adobe Live cycle Masters, I know my way around Adobe Pro, but Live cycle is a different animal. I am trying to create an image field that when an image in selected in the first image field, it will auto fill additional image fields located on each page. Can someone use their magic wand and help me understand if this can be done?

    Mrkeller,
If the image is going to be in the same location on each page, you should add the image to the master page for the form you are creating. This will place the image on every page that your form template generates if you so choose.

  • Change URL of image field

How do I address the URL attribute of an image field in JavaScript?
I have an image field with a URL. All I need to do is have a drop down that changes the URL of an image field so a different picture can be shown. I'm able to use the drop down to change the presence of an image field but when I try to change imageField.presence to imageField.URL, nothing happens when I make a new selection in the drop down. I've also tried imageField.value.image.href but that doesn't work either.
Am I not referencing the URL attribute of the image field properly or doing something else wrong?

I think this may have something to do with the fact that LiveCycle embeds all images on PDFs whether you want it to or not. I imagine if the images are embedded there really is no URL to change! This has to be some kind of bug because I can't seem to find so much as a reference to this in the documentation or discussion boards. If it isn't a bug or no way around it I'll have to find another solution for this project. Shame

  • Drag and drop images from the OS or select images over filebrowser

    Hello,
I want to create an image upload tool in JavaFX with similar functionality like Jumploader (http://jumploader.com/). The users should be able to select images from the filesystem that will be resized and uploaded to their website, similar as in Facebook. The difference is that I want users to be able to crop images directly in my application. This is something, other upload tools do not offer.
I was searching weeks on the web trying to find a sample on how to drag and drop images in to a JavaFX 1.3.1 app or also to create a file browser. I have found many examples but they seem to be outdated. Is it to early yet to try and start projects like these with JavaFX as JavaFX is still under development? Or can anybody lead me in to the right direction?
    Thanks,
    Chris

To be more precise, you can setup a JComponent or JPanel on top of your JavaFX nodes that has a TransferHandler that can convert the (AWT/Swing) images dragged to the app to JavaFX image and then insert it into the underlying node.
As for the file chooser itselft: ListView and the JavaFX composer can allow you to create one quite easily. TreeView can aslso be used to a lesser extend (still a big buggy). For both of these, there are small bugs in the Cell API that may (or may not) prevent from displaying a proper thumbnail in the cells.
You can also use a regular JFileChooser if you do not mind the dialog box having a different LnF from the rest of your application.

  • How to change selected images to B&W

I have a collection of say 20 color images. I would like to apply the same Black and White treatment to all 20. When I am done, I would like to have the original 20 color images and their 20 black and white conversions in the same collection. Is this possible? And could you please explain?
    Thanks,

PS I am new to Lightroom 3.3

Select all the images to be changed (Ctl-A selects all or Ctl-Click selects out of sequence images). Right click, choose Create Vitrual copies. Press D to go to the Develop module. All the Virtual Copies will be selected. The first selected Virtual Copy will be displayed. Make the B&W changes to the first image. When done select SYNC. From the Sync dialog box choose uncheck all. Then select the two B&W choices (sorry, I closed that computer so I can't see Lightroom to get the exact verbage). All selected images will have the B&W setting applied.
