Hi Mathais,
I assume you have installed the OPC enum services in the same machine where xMII UDS is running.
Also make sure that the browsing mode is set to true in the OPC Server.
We had the same issue...and were receiving the same error...but once we changed teh Browing mode at teh OPC server to true, tag quesries started working....
Hope it helps...

And as said everything works fine as long as i don´t mask the composition

  • Ever since I installed Snow Leopard (10.6.8), masking in QuickTime 7Pro has stopped working.  Has anybody experienced this?  Is there a work around?  Can I use FCP to add masks to video?

Ever since I installed Snow Leopard (10.6.8) a month ago, the masking function in QuickTime 7Pro (v. 7.6.6) stopped working.  Masks disappeared in old videos where I had previously and successfully added a mask, and I could not longer use QT 7Pro to add a mask to a new video.  When I installed Snow Leopard I also installed QT X, but I found QT 7Pro in the Utilities folder, so it is still there but the masking function is definately not working.
    Has anybody else experienced this?
Is there a remedy so I can recover my older masked videos, and make new masked videos?
Can I make masked videos in Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks!

As far as i know that's a bug that will hopefully be fixed in the next update to photoshop cc.

  • I pick a photo, make a copy, add a mask and when I use a brush nothing happens to the mask or the picture. White or black?

I pick a photo, make a copy, add a mask and when I use a brush nothing happens to the mask or the picture. White or black.

If I understand you correctly, you have
Opened an image, and copied the background layer.
Added a layer mask, and finding that painting in the mask makes no difference whether you paint with black or white.
That is what you would expect to happen if both layers are identical.  To demonstrate, make a change to the copied layer.  Either change the blend mode to Multiply, or lower the opacity, or paint big red stripes across it.  Now when you paint with black, the red stripes will disappear where the mask is black, and be visible where the make is white.

  • Unable to add masks to a text layer

I am unable to create the effect I want with just Text Behaviors so I want to add a custom mask to finish my animation. The mask tools are un-selectable. Has it always been the case that you can't add masks to text layers or is there a problem with Motion? I thought I had done this before.
I'm using the latest version of Quicktime, Motion and OSX.

Try adding the mask to the group containing the Text layer...

  • PSE 5--what is a clipping mask and how does it work?

Can anyone explain what a clipping mask is, how it works, and most importantly if Photoshop Elements 5.0 has this capability?
Also, are there any tutorials out there that I can teach myself on this topic? I am trying to mimic a layout explained in digital scrapbooking magazine and this technique is used.
    Thank you!
    Heather

    Heather,
You can find one explanation at Janee's tutorials: http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/elements/elemask.htm
Since PSE does not support layer masks per se, the clipping group simulates a layer mask and hence Janee's name for it, "elemask" (cute, huh?)
    Here are 2 examples:
In this example I wanted to blur the background leaving the flower in focus:
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1euavV1sDqzrEqqqierfc5dSEH9yI01
    1. Duplicate the Background layer and apply a Gaussian blur to the new layer.
    2. Add an adjustment layer below the blur layer (any kind of adjustment layer will do), but do not make any adjustment - just click OK.\
    3. Group the blur layer with the adjustment layer. On the adjustment layer paint the subject with black
to mask out the blur, paint with white to restore the blur.
Of course you can use other tools on the adjustment layer besides the paint brush, e.g., make a selection and fill with the black or white. In some cases it might be easier to first fill the adjustment layer with black and then paint with white.
In this example (not actually a mask but still demonstrates a clipping group) I wanted to crop the picture into a leaf shape.
    http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1ys9Z7FspSwF8HHKGLrxjGVhbTodmF0
    1. Use the leaf from the Custom Shape tool to draw out the leaf, creating a new layer.
    2. Move the leaf layer below the picture layer.
    3. Group the two layers.
Note that in order to move a layer below the Background layer you have to rename the Background layer to anything else (layer 0 in my example).

  • AE in 32 bits mode, masks and banding

hi, im doing an AE CS4 project in 32 bits, i create a mask and with all levels of feathering and expansion i can see banding so clearly, i thought 32 bits would solve the banding issues, i see this with all examples, say that i put a black solid over a clip and i mask it with an oval to create a vignete, i use feathering and expansion where necessary, but still in 32 bits mode i can see clearly banding, of course with the add grain filter i can get rid of it, but i add also noise; am i doing something wrong, is it possible that in 32 bits mode banding still happens? there is non way to avoid it?
thank u so much for any help
    jav

really this seems now to be a generic issue of after effects, photoshop etc, lets write the facts
    1) im testing with two computers, a good laptop and a good desktop, both new , powerful, both with NVIDIA graphic cards which i guess are supposed to be good graphic cards
    2) im using the latest software, photoshop CS4 and AE CS4
    3) im trying all this in 32 bits in both and in the other modes later also
    4) i am switching off opengl as for the suggestions i receive, and also im seeing all at full resolution
so given all that written above, now we go to photoshop, create a new file say 1920x1080, take a greyscale gradient with the gradient tool and put it on a new layer,
and there it is, the banding! ))
so either there is something really wrong in my setup, or this is a generic problem
i thought it could be my video hardware, but how could this be, both my control panel settings of both computers are set to highest color depth 32 bits, and both have NVIDIA graphic cards, and both are a year old or the desktop a month old, i mean it cannot get much more recent, certainly its not the best hardware around thats for sure, but really i think it should be enough to display an smooth gradient i would hope
i have known about the technique to use Add Noise for a long time to get rid of banding but i didnt remember that banding would happen so easily in a simple gradient or in a simple mask even at 32 bits, this is what puzzles me, i thought the whole point of 32 bits is that these things like this type of banding wouldnt happen
    thank u for any help
by the way ,searching around online i have seen so many threads of people complaining about banding,
is Adobe addressing somewhere what seems to be a generic concern about Banding, maybe with a nice article explaining the reasons, causes, and solutions for banding that u may still get in 32 bits etc? that would be very nice
    thank u again

  • Filter masks and blur gallery

I create a blur filter on a smart object layer.   I then mask the filter.    I then add another filter to the same layer but it seems to ignore the existing filter mask.  When I press M in the filter window for the new filter I do not see any mask.
I thought the mask would apply to all filters for the same layer.  Am I missing something?
    Thanks
    Paul

I seem to be missing something I do not understand what your describing with " When I press M in the filter window for the new filter I do not see any mask." What or where is the filter window.   For me the Filter mask seems to be common to all smart filters added to the smart object layer.
I your mean Filter Gallery window. All effects will also go through the common filter mask.  However Filter Gallery will only show as a single smart filter.
Here I selected the left half if the image so there would be an active selection when the Filter mask is added and not be a white  show all  mask. In the filter gallery I could see each effect added was only to the left half.  I commit three effects. so the filter would show with the filter mask in the layers palette.   I the reopened the smart filter Filter Gallery. When I reopened it the active selection not being active any more showed the whole image as being effected however the filter mask protected the right side of the smart object layer as you can clearly see in the image window.
Again when I originally applied the smart Filter Gallery the was an active selection so there would be something in the filter mask and the select would be visible in the filter gallery.  Here is what I saw.
If this is not the first smart filter added to the layer and there was already A filter mask  to see its effect in any new added smart filter I would think you would first have to load the filter mask as an active selection.
Not only did I have to load the filter mask as a selection I had to turn off the other smart filters visibility.

  • How do I manage 3rd party add ons and source control

Some developers friends of mine just got burned because a 3rd party add on to LabVIEW they use in thier code was not in the Software repository. They needed to go back and rebuild a previous version, but it was not immedietely obvious which version of the add on belonged to which version of the source code.
The 3rd party helped make this worse by being perfectly happy to change the pin outs on the API VIs in between revisions.
So they could not simply select a non buggy version of the add on and a non buggy version of the source and compile.
In some cases we have put 3rd party add ons in the source directory so they become part of the SVN project. My friends had them where they where installed, which was under the vi.lib folder.
This does not always work. For example the Internet Toolkit's FTP code has so many layers that it can be a challenge to get them all moved over. If you want to have the ability to overwrite local files when doing a get, you need to make a small change about 5 layers down in the VIs. We basically have to do this for every developer machine that has LV 8.5 on it. (LV 2010 fixed this. It was the first thing we checked.)
So I am wondering what other LV professionals do to manage revision control of 3rd party add ons.
    Thanks!

I generally created a ZIP file of the entire third party tool and all of its pieces. Generally they are well enough behaved that everything is at least under a single folder in the file system. I then check this file into source code control. Another optio would be to use JKI's Package Manager. You could create your own local packages of the third party tool and use VIPM to manage those packages. I generally don't put any of NI's toolkits in source code control.
