This bug figures out also when creating a custom spark ComboBox, then trying to programatically update the userProposedSelectedIndex property. The proposed selected index is selected, but does not apply the same skin as when mouse is on rollover or item is selected due to up and down keys.
The issue seems like updating the status of the item renderer to rollover or selected to get the same skin applied.
Please could you attach DropDow nList.as that you edited ?

Turning the default of ItemRenderer's autoDrawBackground property to true. This is part of the changes outlined here: http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/ItemRendererChanges
This will break existing ItemRenderers because now we are drawing a rectangular background for rollover/selection/caretting that was not being drawn before. Existing item renderers should be updated to either opt out of this new behavior by explicitly setting autoDrawBackground to false or by updating their ItemRenderers to expect this behavior.
QE notes: Most tests should have already been updated. If tests with item renderers are broken, please update them.

Gordon, it looks like its been a while since you made this post. Not sure how valid it is now...   I am particularly interested in the LigatureLevel.NONE value. It seems that it is no longer supported.
How do I turn of ligatures in the font rendering?
My flex project involves trying to match the font rendering of Apache's Batik rendering of SVG and ligatures have been turned off in that codebase. Is there any way (even roundabout) to turn ligatures off in flash?

Change the default max object nest level from 1024 to 512. A max object nest level of 512 should be more than enough for most applications which probably will not be sending deeply nested object graphs over the wire. For applications that are sending deeply nested object graphs over the wire and that bump up against this limit, the limit can be increased but you should also do testing to make sure that serializing/deserializing these deeply nested object graphs doesn't cause stack overflow errors.
Update documentation for the max object nest level setting to reflect the new default.
Add documentation for the new max collection nest level setting.

You should be able to get some more precise information from your Xorg logs, but I would bet it is related to the evdev driver. Some of the options in your xorg.conf no longer work with the latest version. For now you should be able to either map your mouse directly to the appropriate /dev/event* entry or change to the standard mouse driver, both of those methods should be in the wiki.
You are supposed to be able to use the evdev driver without the input section of your xorg.conf by using dbus/hal autodetection, but AFAIK at the moment the xorg-server package still isn't compiled with hal support, so you would have to patch and rebuild the package.

TextInput default with is big enough to hold 10 characters (it will actually hold more than 10 "normal width" characters)
TextArea padding matches TextInput padding
These changes are done to the Spark and Wireframe skins.

We have also expierenced the same problem, or similiar even.
After reading the docs on the opensource website
http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Per-Module+Style+Management
you will find that there is a flag you can set on the compiler arguments as follows:
-isolate-styles=false
by doing this, i think this allows the modules to work as before, inheriting the styles by default from the application.
There seems to be a new way of using the StyleManager in the current release of Flex 4.

Gordon, it looks like its been a while since you made this post. Not sure how valid it is now...   I am particularly interested in the LigatureLevel.NONE value. It seems that it is no longer supported.
How do I turn of ligatures in the font rendering?
My flex project involves trying to match the font rendering of Apache's Batik rendering of SVG and ligatures have been turned off in that codebase. Is there any way (even roundabout) to turn ligatures off in flash?

Change default format of border styles

I am wondering if there is a way to change the preset default cell border styles in the most current version of numbers.

I don't know of a way to change the default cell border style.
You could try this. Select the cells, Format Panel > Cell > Border > Choose which borders to set > Border Styles > Recent.
My preferred method is to create and format a single table in a document and Menu > File > Save as Template.
Menu > Numbers > Preferences... > General > For New Documents > Use template
When I launch Numbers or Menu > File > New (command n) I get this from My Templates:
Note: if you have that setting in Numbers Preferences, New from Template Chooser will disappear from the File Menu.
To get it back, hold down the option key when using the File Menu.

Re-commit compiler errors for other theme's styles feature. If Style metadata has a "themes" attribute, the style is only valid if that theme is applied.
The Spark theme is applied by default. The halo theme can be specified as a compiler argument or by selecting the "MX Only" component set in Builder.
All other themes need to be applied using theme+= instead of theme=. If you use theme= you will get warnings about styles used in CSS selectors, and errors if you use any theme-specific style as an attribute on an MXML tag.
By default, styles that aren't valid for the current theme are errors. These can be changed to warnings with the report-invalid-styles-as-warnings compiler option.
QE notes: Expect test breakage
Doc notes: The new policy for themes needs to be documented.
Bugs: none yet, but I'm sure there will be some...
