Svn revision number in the windows bar
Hi,
I'm thinking of the possibilities of putting the SVN revision number on the bar of application (exe). I'd be usueful feature to quick assess from which source code revision the application is build in.
So what I would need is a kind of trigger/interface which I could use to launch the small piece a code which modify the application window bar when the application is being build. I thought about preparing the string using the System Exec.vi (to execute svn.exe -st command to get the information I need). But how come can I impose on LV to trigger that code only when the build operation starts?
Or maybe I shall use different approach?

Hope this helps,
And how does that answer the question about changing the title bar of a window when a build process is initiated?
As to the question: The application build has an API, so if you really needed to do this (and I can't quite figure out why), you could write your own VI to call the application builder to build your app. You can then change the title bar. I'm not sure, but I suspect you may need to resort to using the operating system API to change the window name, as I don't know if you can get a reference to the window that is displayed during the build process. If you have to use the operating system, then on Windows you can use the Windows API Function Utilities (32-bit) for LabVIEW .

How do I display the desktop number in the menu bar?
Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks for the suggestion but my shortcuts are set ... ^1 etc. but I do not know which desktop I am on, or, more importantly, which one to go to!
I want to be able to see the number on the menu bar.
I would also like to use ^up and ^down to move betwen spaces. Having a central desktop with desktops above and below, as well as left and right .... From 2D it seems to have gone backwards to 1D (!!!!). Of all the features in OS X, spaces was the one that windows had no equivalent of and now it feels devalued.
The 'Mission Control' does not seem to give much control over appearing in the menubar. Neither does it seem to allow you to put apps into specific spaces upon load (or allow changes to existing settings inheritied from SL).
If it is not in the Mission Control prefences that has anybody found a work around? -
SVN revision number in EAR file
Hi everyone,
Is there a way to have the SVN revision number displayed somewhere in our application? It would really help us and save time when trying to troubleshoot.
Currently, we build an EAR file using a weblogic deployment descriptor. It could be nice if there was a way to query the SVN server to get the next revision number and store it in a property file inside the ViewController, then we could display it on the application.
All suggestions are welcome.
I'm using JDev 11.1.1.7

RE: TABS ARE WINDOWS!
The Windows bar already functions as a tab bar. Those tabs are called "windows." So, I find Firefox tab windows superfluous. How can I disable them completely from Firefox 23? I don't need what is essentially TWO windows bars covering up the entire width of my widescreen monitor's image! I already have a Windows bar at the bottom of my screen and, if I really wanted to, I could change ITS position to the top of the screen, so that it would LOOK like the Firefox tab windows bar. Firefox TABS are, essentially, a superfluous SECOND WINDOWS BAR.
Here are my reasons for why I'd rather use Mozilla's Firefox, than Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Google's Chrome. I love and admire Firefox for Mozilla's intent on good security, for Firefox's Personas add-on, and for Firefox's free use of the Ad-Block add-on which, as you know, has the distinct virtue of reducing screen clutter--the last of which is my motive for wanting to get rid of the SUPERFLUOUS Firefox tabs "windows" bar. I am dreadfully sick of companies forcing miscellaneous bars (mostly representing marketing campaigns trying to sell me something) into my browser (and down my throat) every time I download something. (In case you haven't guessed, I am deliberately referring to your Firefox tabs bar as a "Firefox tabs 'windows' bar," because TABS are WINDOWS!)Let me clarify even more. The Firefox add-on you mention does not remove "tabs" windows. It only HIDES the "tabs" bar when there is only one "tab" in that window. It DOES NOT end "tabs." It does not turn "tabs" off.
I know this, because, even with the add-on you recommend, the "tabs" bar often re-appears when I open a link, which--for some unknown reason--Firefox defaults to opening in a second "tab" within the same window, rather than putting it in a new Windows bar window. This, of course, disregards what I want to happen.
I want to use my Windows bar to control my windows. I do not want my Firefox browser controlling my windows--which it calls "tabs." Can you tell me how to shut off "tabs?" -
How to lose the window bars in Gnome 3?
I mainly use a amall screened netbook and I'd very much like to get rid of the window bars in Gnome3 as I find they use up too much space and I'd rather use the keyboard to close the open windows and move the windows.
I really don't know where to look, I can't make any sense of the theme's file in /usr/share/themes/Adwaita/...
[EDIT]
I'll answer myself, as it was fairly easy after all:
The file is divided in several parts, each with setting for maximized or non-maximized windows etc. To have maximized windows have no title bar add in the line starting with <frame_geometry name="max":
has_title="false"
You can also specify the size of the bar with
title_scale="xx-small"
Avaliable are x-small, small, large, x-large etc.

Why can't I click on the window bar in quicktime X windows?
For some reason, I can't click on the window bar at the top of movie windows in Quicktime X. When I do so, it acts as if I'd clicked on whatever was behind the movie window. This means that I have to close windows with the keyboard rather than clicking, for example.
This started happening before I upgraded to Mavericks, and continued after. Reinstalling the OS did nothing.Did you use the Migration Assistant updater before you installed Mavericks?
I ask as a resident problem that follows one across a system upgrade usually comes on the heels of a data migration. (I was vexed right up through 10.6 by a migration of data from Panther!)
If so, backup all your files and do a clean install. It would be easier to walk you through if I knew the configuration of your Mac and whether or not you have a bootable optical disk or an image on a USB thumb drive.

Before I updated to ios5 there was a number lit up on the task bar (next to bookmarks) which were all the windows I like to keep open. Now, after updating I can't find that feature in settings. I don't like all the different tabs along the top. Can anyone help me please?? I just want to click on the number and have all of my open windows there!
I don't think that is an option. iOS 5 new features is tabbed browsing, it replaced the old window interface.

Hiding Window bar which shows the window name
Can anybody help me in hiding the window bar which shows the window name .
Just curious... why do you guys want to hide the window bar? It would make your application look different from standard applications running on their platform.
Are you aware that you can change the title on the window bar so it reflects the name of your application? -
Use SVN build number in my pom.xml in JDeveloper
I wonder if someone has already used the buildnumber-maven-plugin or any other way to insert the SVN revision number into their builds in JDeveloper.
The way I have found requires svn to be installed separately because there is a commandline call to svn, but I'd like to use the SVN support JDeveloper gives me, mainly because JDeveloper already has my connection available to the repository.
Who's done this before?
thanks!
WendyHi Pittsburgh,
Thanks for your post.
Do you mean that you have added the custom activity in your build template to generate the custom build number, and the custom build number shows as expect in your TFS build result after build completed, but the custom build number doesn’t display in work
item Found in Build dropdown?
After the TFS build completed and the custom build number be generated, please check the
Builds-teamprojectname global list in your TFS Server, please check if the completed custom build number be added in that global list or not.

"Hardcoding ini-File Settings" or "Automatic Revision Number with tortoise"
Hi all,
we use a SVN Repository with tortoise here at our company for version control.
I'd like to get the revision number hardcoded into the Application (.exe version).
I've allready found out, that there is some tool which can scan a directory and replaces a constant string in a file with the current revision number.
(So I could automatically generate a .ini file with "Ver=...RevNr" as content)
But I have no clue, how I can hardcode a file into the application with the labview builder.
(I think of something like the .ico file, which is hardcoded into the application too)
Has someone a sollution for this?
thanks
Mario Hirth
Solved!
Go to Solution.Hi Mario,
I want to
ensure you mean what I think by "get a revision number hard coded in an Application"
When we build
an executable we
display a revision number on the front panel of our application and
we also have a Help -> About menu that displays the revision number
and other info like build
date and time.
If this is the sort of thing you want read on for some suggestions.
I have a software release VI
which contains control for things like build data, revision
number etc. This
Vi is shown from the help ->
about menu and
by an indicator on the
front panel of
our main application.
Manual revision control
Before every build
you edit this
Software Release VI
putting in the
details you want
in the controls, set these to be the default values and save the VI. When you build the new
values will then
be displayed in
your executable application.
This method is
simple to implement
and test; it is a good way to start. You just treat this VI as any other from the
point of view
of your source
control system.
However this method
has problems (people
forgetting to do
the change before
the build, people not knowing the next
number etc) and very
soon you will
want to move to an automatic revision control system.
I use and strongly
recommend the OpenG builder
rather than the
NI builder, for
a number of reason.
1) Good API,
to help you script you builds automatically
2) Good hooks
for pre-build, post-build
and call-backs VI
integration. For example
automatically zip up
your application after
a build an email to somebody.
3) A built
in revision system
you should be
able to get up and running without much trouble
4) The Build
configuration files are
in a human readable format.
In our system
which using ClearCase
and not SVN but the same principle applies, this
is a simplified
description.
I have three
basic files that
are used to auto revision, an ini file
that holds a record of all build for example - 001 29-Nov-2008, the software release
VI mentioned above
and I use the OpenG builder revision file to allow an easy built in hook in the OpenG builder.
When a build
starts a pre-build
trigger runs a
VI to look in the ini file to see what the next build number should
be, it then adds in a new entry with this new build number and various other information we
store, the .ini
file is then saved. In our ClearCase system I used a special config specification to
ensure that EVERYONE
sees the same
version of the
ini file (the
latest) and after
it is checked
in the latest
is immediately updated
with this new
save version again
so that EVERYBODY
can see it.
The pre-trigger VI then opens in edit mode the software release
VI in edit mode and plugs into the various control and indicator
the values read
out from the ini. The version of the software release VI is then saved and closed and then the build start. I do not worry about keeping
these edited versions
of the Software
Release VI in
the config control
system, in fact
I throw them away after the build is finished, they are in effect only templates
it is the ini file that
counts.
Hope this helps
as a simple guide
cheers

Revision number in performAfterCommitTasks method
Hello everybody,
(Firts, sorry for my bad english...)
I try to use the subversive extension point in Eclipse to obtain the new revision number after the SVN commit.
I'm in the "performAfterCommitTasks" method but it doesn't seem possible to get the new revision number of the selected resources.
Does somebody have a way to get this ?
Thank you very mutch.
ChachoHello,
Sorry for the late response, I replied in this topic and attached a working code sample:

Title Bar stuck under the Menu bar and I cannot select and move it.
I often arrange windows around the desktop and sometimes I inadvertently push a window up too far and the title bar gets under the menu bar. Once I let go of the arrow, the title bar is too far under the menu bar and I can no longer reach it to move it down. The only solution is to close out the program and start over. Is there a way unbeknownst to me to select the title bar again and move it?
SharonMy E*Trade streaming watch list was stuck under the Menu Bar also. I tried reseting the screen resolution down to 1280 x 1024, and restarting the MarketTrader. There on the display was the stuck window, out from under. I resized and moved it to a central location, and resized the display back to my normal 1920 setting. And to my relief, the window Bar! Thanks Discussion!

Change icon in window bar?
Hi,
Can someone explain me how to change the icon that
appears in windows (on Windows it's on the left part
of the window bar).
Which image file format are supported?
Best Regards,
Xavier.thanks to everybody.
One solution is:
Swing :
JFrame my_frame = new JFrame();
my_frame.setIconImage((new javax.swing.ImageIcon("MyIcon.gif")).getImage());
With AWT, I suppose that something with CreateImage
createImage(String) - Method in class java.awt.Toolkit
Returns an image which gets pixel data from the specified file.
createImage(URL) - Method in class java.awt.Toolkit
Returns an image which gets pixel data from the specified URL
