Swap bricked iphone 4

Hi
I have a bricked iPhone 4 , whose mother board fried while charging. Its unlocked, out of warranty. Can I swap it ?
Thanks
Ansh

Of course you can. You can swap your cash for a new phone. What makes you think that you will get a new phone in place for one that is bricked (maybe because it was hacked?) and fried?
So, you take your car in to your dealer after a year and it has a blown engine, and several dents on the body. You think he is going to "swap" it?

I swapped my iphone from apple store india and my imei of iphone changed and i have lost the box and bill of phone , how can i get my old imei number.

Of course it changed. A phone's IMEI number is unique to each phone. The IMEI number for a phone does not transfer to another phone.
Since your iPhone was exchanged under warranty without having the box and bill for the original purchase, you don't need it now either. The exchange under warranty remains under the warranty for the original purchase.

• Can i swap my iphone 6 for a 6 plus

i have an iphone 6 and a ipad air
i no longer want my ipad air and would like to sell it and swap my iphone 6 for a iphone 6 plus if it is possible in anyway ??
many thanks

If you go into an Apple Store they will buy the products off you (credit) as recycle value and you can place towards anything in the store.
If you brought the iPhone 6 recently I would ask them if you can exchange it (if still boxed)?
If it has been open then I imagine they would only offer you the exchange value in credit.
Either way they might both add up to the cost of an iPhone 6 Plus.
Otherwise there is also eBay or Gumtree.

• I'm swapping my iphone 4S for a iphone 5, I can enjoy all the apps that have old phone?

I'm swapping my iphone 4S for a iphone 5, I can enjoy all the apps that have old phone?

Just be sure to do a complete sync using iTunes and storing the backup locally on the computer. A local copy of every app will be stored, together with the rest of the stuff from the phone. Later, when you get the new phone, plug it in immediately with iTunes running: it will recognize that the phone is new and offer to restore from the stored backup. Those apps that don't get installed automatically as part of the restore, you can manually install from the local copy.
Works flawlessly on a Mac. I guess same thing should occur on a Windoze PC, but I don't sleep with the Enemy.
Edit: be sure the computer has enough juice to finish the restore. On another thread, a participant tried to do the above, computer died midway, screwed the process up.

• Avoiding bricked iPhone (non-jailbroken) on OS update?

I have not applied the latest OS update on my 3GS because the previous two updates bricked my iPhone, which is NOT jailbroken or modified in any way. Both times I had to wipe it and go to the Apple store to get the OS reloaded (it would not load even on a wiped iPhone). I have Windows XP SP3.
Since there hasn't been a loud outcry about bricked iPhones, I assume this is happening to only a small percentage of Windows users. Both times I offered to provide assistance to help Apple debug the problem, but their interest seemed to end after wiping and reloading the OS.
Has anybody else encountered this problem?

Oooooh, so you HAVE to have an extra computer? One for restoring and one to use to everything else?
I had this problem when updating to 4.0, 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 - only thing that got the phone going again was actually to JAILBREAK the bugger with a software download from dev.team and using that.
This can't be right!!! Apple, get it fixed or I'll stand clear of collecting my iPhone4 tomorrow, if this is how it has to be in the future. You have had several months to clear this mess up!

• Operator sold used iphone or repairman swapped my iphone

I bought my brand new iphone 4S from 3HK (3 Telecom Hong Kong) on 16 April 2012 with 2 year phone service and 1 year warranty. The unit failed to power up on 6 June 2012 about 2 weeks after I updated ios5.11.
I took it to the 3HK repair center on 9 June 2012. 3HK refused to repair my iphone or exchange a new iphone for me by claiming that my iphone 4S is not original iphone. My iphone is in my possession 24 hours a day. The unit was functioning normal before it breakdown. I could still using it to send and receive email before the night before I sleep. Any advice to help me to catch who rip me off : (1) 3HK sold me used equipment as brand new, or
(2) repairman in the 3HK's repair center swapped my iphone with a used and modified iphone.

If it was not a black screen, normally, you Apple store can exchange a new iphone with you. In my case, I am not sure if the black screen caused by the update of ios 5.11 or something else. So I must entrust my iphone with an Apple authorized service center not owned by Apple.
Does anyone know how to protect yourself about being sold a non-new ipone as new one?
How could entrust our iphone to repair center with a black screen?
That can happen to you to if you have a black screen.

• Need advice adapting page w/ onmouseover img swap to iPhone/iPad devices.

Need advice adapting page w/ onmouseover img swap to iPhone/iPad devices.
OK, we knew we needed to co-develop for touch-base devices, but this page forces the issue.
See page at: http://www.sos.state.or.us/elections/pages/voterresources/civics-toolkit/index.html
The page has two-state graphical buttons: a small button for the standard state and a large button in response to the onmouseover event. Navigation occurs onclick. Of course, touch-based devices like iPhone and iPad have no mouse over. The iPad displays the button just fine. However, the iPhone only shows the image until it is clicked. After that it is gone, even when one navigates away and back again after clicking it.
I imagine we should detect what device is browsing and then load only the large, more informative buttons when we detect a smartphone or tablet device.
What's the best approach?
Thanks in advance!

So iPhone an iPad have ontouchstart and ontouchend - the information you provided says Apple implemented these events. Perhaps I should have specified that the page needs to work well on all touch devices, including non-Apple data phones.
Do you know if these touch events or some other solution is supported cross platform?
Just to be sure I understand, I
ditch the onmouseover event in favor of using the a:hover pseudo-class to swap images. This swaps for all devices.
implement ontouchstart/ontouchend for iPhone and iPad to create begin and end points for the image swap. This works for iPhone/iPad and no special condition is needed for a device with a mouse.
use onclick to trigger navigation. This works for all devices.
Thanks!

• Is a permenently bricked iphone serviceable without getting a new mainboard?

Anyone?

If your iPhone 3GS is under warranty you can have it replaced by Apple. But you would get a different Logic Board inside the replacement iPhone. If your iPhone 3GS is "bricked" because the Battery is dead, this could be replaced by Apple, but again you would get a different Logic Board inside the replacement iPhone even for battery replacement by Apple. So for Apple to fix your "bricked" iPhone you will end up with a different Logic Board.
There are serveral ways for an iPhone to be "bricked" with the Logic Board being in perfect shape, with the Logic Board not being at fault.

• IPhone 3G update to 3.0 with repeated 1013 errors - now bricked iPhone! ;-(

Attempting to update an iPhone 3G to 3.0 from 2.2.1 and it's now a brick.
Note that I've tried this now from THREE different computers, two macs and one windows box with identical results. I've uninstalled iTunes on the windows box before doing the update attempt.
The error message is "1013" which also takes you to this highly uninformative page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275.
Ok, the USB cables and ports on three computers see the same problem error. So it's either the iPhone itself or iTunes 8.2 (23) or both.
Digging a bit deeper I found that there is a log file kept on the mac. Change to this directory from your home directory "~/Library/Logs/iPhone Updater Logs/" where you'll find one "iPhoneUpdater N.log" file for each attempt to update that you've done.
When the error occurs Apple asks if I want to send the info to them! YES!!! Make sure you do so that they can sort this out.
Ok, looking in this log file (I won't dump it all here) you can see a number of errors. The end of the log file shows:

2009-06-17 23:39:44.000 iTunes124:20b: iTunes: Restore error 1013
Clearly there are some problems. Earlier in the log file it had problems updating a number of files.
Now I've tried this "Connect your iPhone to the computer. press and hold sleep and home, and as soon screen goes blank, count off 5 seconds, then let go of sleep and keep holding home." That didn't change anything. sigh.
It's almost as if this particular version of the iPhone that I have is incompatible with the current iPhone 3.0 operating system components. Maybe there is a bad driver? Hmmm....
Ok, here is another error in the log file.

So clearly the file "/usr/local/standalone/firmware/ICE2_04.26.08.fls" isn't transferred properly! Something is amiss somewhere...
Could it really be that it can't download the update file to the iPhone due to USB problems? Surely Apple has access to fault tolerant file transfer protocols they can use?
Sigh... now I'm without my primary phone... grrrr... arrrrg... should have waited....
Apple maybe you could learn something about "ACID TRANSACTIONS" and include them into the update process to guarantee either 100% success or 100% abort rollback?
I don't know if this is relevant but now in iTunes on the iPhone page it no longer shows any values at all for the "name, capacity, software version or serial number" fields which is kind of spooky. Does this mean that I need to take the phone in for service? Is it permanently toast?

Just visitied the Apple Store in Vancouver and wasn't allowed in! They had a wall of orange shirts AND two mall SECURITY guards preventing people from entering UNLESS you were there to purchase a new iPhone 3GS!
The orange shirt gave me grief refusing to allow me to see a service person! So I asked to speak to his manager. Matt showed up and read me the same riot act of BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They claimed it was the first day since they opened that they closed their Genius Bar!
The fact remains that it was APPLE's Update that bricked my iPhone that I depend upon.
So the manager went off to get his boss when I asked him too. I think he was just glad to get away from a rational insistent customer spoiling their wonderful happy Apple day selling new phones.
So a non-technician showed up and offered to take my phone into the store and try to update it. She lied. She returned to tell me that my warranty was expired due to the "water litmus" paper being RED. ***? You've got to be kidding! I've NEVER had it anywhere near water! The lie was that she didn't actually try to connect it and that she was going to secretly find out if my warranty was void. Not what I call informed consent.
So I asked her to check and try updating the phone anyway and off she trundled. Less than no time she returned telling me that my iPhone couldn't be seen by three of their computers! ***! It was working on my three computers at home!
In fact as I type this it's running another update this moment. About 3/4 done.
So now Apple's Update Bricked my iPhone which was working perfectly without any problems. If they hadn't brought their update out the phone would still be working just great!
Needless to say I'm extremely annoyed yet composed (for the moment).
So my options at this point seem to be to (1) replace the phone for ~260.00 CAD or (2) upgrade to a 3GS for an indeterminate amount if FIDO permits it, or (3) hope that Apple home base gets their act together with a new iTunes update which can at least get the phone working again, (4) toss the phone off a bridge, (5) sue Apple and FIDO for their negligence in providing faulty software updates that bricked the phone. Grrr... Arrrggg....
Oh, it just failed the update again! At least it can be seen by my computers (two mac and one vista box).
Ok, now what...
CHECK YOUR iPhone warranty voided strips to see if they are RED/PINK! If it's only iPhones with RED that are the problem then maybe that's the cause. HOWEVER, if even ONE iPhone has this problem and it's not got a RED water strip then it's conclusive that the problem is elsewhere - basic diagnostic process and rock solid logic. Please check your RED WARRANTY VOIDED STRIPS and let me know here... you check them with a flash light at the bottom of your iPhone in the slot where the SIMM card is and where the dock/cable connector goes in. Shin the light into there and move the phone or the light about till you see either a 1/4 inch long strip - RED/PINK means you Apple won't honor your warranty or their craftsmanship.
Ok... now to find out how much it will cost to upgrade to a 3GS on the FIDO plan. Sigh. Grrr... arrrggggg....

• Since swapping my iphone i have lost all my pictures but they are still all saved in instagram! How do i get them back to my camera roll?

Since swapping my broken iphone 4s for a new one i have lost all my pictures from camera roll but they are still saved in my instagram. Is there a way to get them saved back to phone? Also my whatsapp is not working since upgrading to IOS6??
Please help.

You can not put them back in the camera roll. The camera roll is temporary storage for new photos taken with the phone. You can sync them back to your phone in another album using iTunes.
As for whatsapp, ask the developer. That is not an Apple product.

• Can I Swap My iPhone 5 for a 5s?

Hi, I have a brand new BRAND NEW iPhone 5 white 16gb for T-Mobile.
This phone is litterally brand new.
I was wondering if i can swap it for the 5s and add money on top at Apple?
I also have applecare until 2014.

This is Apple's recently started Reuse and Recycling Program.

• Swapping an iPhone 4S (ATT) for iPhone 4S Verizon

I purchased an iPhone 4S ala AT&T from the online Apple store but was considering swapping it for an iPhone 4 Verizon. There is an Apple store in my area. Can they swap it out for me? Do I have to go through the online store? How much would such a swap cost me? Is there a backlog for 4S Verizon iPhones? Any and all help will be deeply appreciated.

You have 30 days to return it. In the past, doing so at your local Apple Store has not been a problem, but recently, there have been reports of Apple telling customers they must return it through the online store if it was purchased online. I can't vouch for the universality of this policy (if it is a policy). It certainly can't hurt to go to your local Apple store and ask. As for backlog, there may be a wait, since it's still early in the launch process. Again, you'll have to ask.
Just curious... Why are you considering switching? Coverage is the only real reason to do so IMO. You will lose the ability to talk and use 3G data at the same time and your 3G data speeds will be (theoretically) lower on Verizon than AT&T since AT&T has pretty much rolled out HSPA+ everywhere now.

• Just called trying to swap my Iphone 5 on another line on my family plan...

and a rep stated that they were unable to at the moment, and that the system was getting so many requests that they could not be done until after 12am tonight. She didn't seem to say anything about having to get another SIM card, said she would give me a call back tomorrow and go through with the process.
I asked her if it would be any quicker in the store, she said it might or might not be. Being as all information goes to the same place, more then likely she said it wouldn't matter.
If anyone has any input, please let me know.

I have read SO many different posts this week with different instructions on how to handle this. My iPhone is due to arrive in the next hour via FedEx and now I'm confused.
1. Do I or do I not activate it before I attempt the swap?
2. Is it a given that the Nano SIM will have to be swapped if I'm changing number?
3. Is the Nano SIM card truly necessary for the phone to work (I've even heard different answers to this question, believe it or not. Someone in another thread said it would actually work okay without it but wouldn't make international calls)?
Does anyone have a success story today on how they accomplished this? I'm definitely all ears!

• My brother and I are looking to swap our iphone 4 ?

He has the white I phone but would like my black one, how can we do it making sure that we do not loose the information on either phone ?

I'm assuming both phones are on the same version of iOS. If not you need to make it so.
Sync each phone to its computer. Then right click on the iPhone's name in the list on the left and choose "backup" (still on the same computer).
Swap the SIM cards.
Go into iTunes Preferences on each computer, Devices tab, and check the box to prevent automatic syncing.
Connect your brother's iPhone to your computer. Right click on its name and choose "Restore from Backup" (this is NOT the same as the Restore button). When that finishes click the "Sync" button.
Connect your iPhone to your brother's computer. Do the same 2 steps.
What you are doing is very similar to these instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109 - you are just doing it twice.

• Swap my iphone 4 colour????

can i swap my pay as you go iphone 4 black for a iphone 4 white?????
in any way thank you

You can buy an iPhone in any color you want.
Unless you bought it directly from Apple, Apple has no say in the matter.
If you are still in the 30 day return window (maybe 14days depending on where purchased), the retailer you purchased from may allow you to exchange it. Just be aware, there may be a restocking fee for returning the existing device.
