SWF displays stretched in IE7

Is there is a setting within Flash in regards to how it will be displayed in IE?  Particularly IE7?  SWF file when in Firefox looks normal but in IE7 it looks stretched.

Could be your jpeg compression settings. Are there jpeg
images in the file?
there are two ways to adjust:
1. individual images
Select the bitmap image in the Flash Library. Click the
little "i" button at the bottom of the Library panel. Adjust jpeg
settings.
2. entire site
In the Flash menus, go to File>Publish Settings and adjust
jpeg compression for the entire site.

  • Swf displays in ie8, but not 7

    I inserted three swf files into my page. One is a progressive video in the main column. The second is a flash menu in a floating right column. The third is a scrolling photo slideshow, also in the right column. All three display properly in IE8, but none of the swf elements display in the right column on IE7. The video does play in the main column though. Any ideas?

    please replace your code for this section with this (this works on my tests with IE 6 7 8, Safari, FF, Opera, Chrome):

  • SWF not working in IE7

    For some reason my swf file is playing fine in Firefox, but not in IE7. Here is the link:
    http://www.landmarkmg.com/featured-property
    What could be causing this?
    Thanks!

    Could you describe the corruption a bit more? Currently when you play the Captivate (which version?) swf with the AS3 Flash swfs, what specifically ocurrs? Does the Cap swf stop on the slides that have Flash swfs, does it not play at all? Do you have any code in your Flash swfs that are supposed to be communicating with the Cap swf directly?
    Is it possible to post the zipped files on a server to download and look at, or at least the published files for us to view online and make sure we have the same experience?
    Just trying to dig because a lot of different things could be happening. I had similar issues but was mostly with Flash AS2 swfs in my Captivate 5 AS3 swfs. However, I did even have some issue with some Captivate 5 AS3 swfs that are supposed to playback inside another Captivate 5 AS3 swf (that problem was that the embedded swfs wouldn't load on the slide, but the main playback would still continue).
    Best,
    Danny

  • Imported swfs display different every time

    Hello -
    I have tried importing swfs, and each time it displays different when published. The first time, it resized and could be seen completely within the window. The second time, it did not resize so only the top left of the image could be seen. The third, time it sort of resized, but is still cut off on the bottom. I inserted the same swf file the same way each time, so I'm not sure what affects the way it displays when published. I'm using the trial version of Presenter version 7.0.7 Build 7746. The swfs were created in Captivate 5.0, and I'm using Office/PowerPoint 2010. Below are examples of what each looks like after the publish. Does anyone know how I can control how the swf will display once published?
    Thanks!
    Katherine

    Hello -
    I think it has to do with resizing the swf once it is imported. I resized it first by widening it so it went the entire width of the page - the second time I believe I did the same thing and got the larger image. Then I tried various ways of resizing and also not moving or resizing at all, and got these different results. It is not consistent, the same way of resizing did not result in the same output. Is it not possible to resize the imported swf - for example, resize so it takes up the entire slide? Below is a link to download the swf I'm using.

  • Horizontal spry menu dropdowns not displaying properly in IE7

    Hi,
    Grateful for any help!  I have a dreamweaver template which works fine on a Mac with Firefox and Safari, but when opened in IE7 on a PC the menu bar accros the top is ok but the dropdowns appear as a horizontal list, instead of vertical, and the submenues are not displayed.  The site is not available on the web Can anyone advise how to fix this please?
    I am using the default Spry code and Dreamweaver CS5, and have run Update to ensure latest versions, on iMac with Snow lepoard - also updated.
    Many thanks
    Richard

    Have a look here http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/menubar/AutoWidthHorizontalMenuBarSample.h tml and when you get down near the bottom of the page add !important as per following
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li {
    display: block;
    float: none !important;
    width: auto;
    white-space: nowrap;
    border-bottom: solid 1px #EEE;
    The !important will override any changes that the JS wants to make.

  • IMac Display stretched and out of focus

    My iMac display is not right. It is slightly enlarged and out of focus. I have already tried the display settings and holding the control key and scrolling down. I also tried restarting. Nothing is working. Last night I tried configuring my router for wireless. I supposedly made it secure with a password, which I had to use to connect to my network. The screen thing happened after that. This morning I checked the connection again and the little lock icon was no longer there. Could the two be related? Please help! I am obviously not very apt with computers, but I'm trying.

    This resolved my issues:
    Preferrences >  Accessibility > Zoom
    then, uncheck Zoom and uncheck Zoom follows keboard focus.
    Wait a few minutes.  You can rechec them again but it won't go back to the stretched and out of focus look.  I don't know why.

  • Can anyone help me with a little display problem in IE7 please?....

    I have just uploaded a new site which has been created using Dreamweaver CS4 for Windows.  There is no problem viewing the site in IE 8, or in Firefox.
    The site is basically a gallery of images.  For some of the main images I've used little magnifying glass 'plus' symbols, which are simply linked rollover png images that take you to a larger version of the image.  In IE7 (and I presume in older versions too) these little symbols aren't displaying in the correct position on each of these pages, they've jumped and are incorrectly displaying over the top, left corner of the main image.
    Here's the link:
    www.sjcillustration.com
    Firstly, why is this happening in IE7 and yet all's fine in IE8 or in Firefox, and secondly, can anyone tell me how to fix it please?
    (I was going to attach the corresponding CSS file but don't see an attach file button.......)
    Cheers!

    Hi Cristian, thanks for responding so speedily!
    On the homepage, click on the 'diagrammatic' thumbnail for example, then click on the 'volcano' thumbnail, when the volcano page appears, you should see the little magnifying glass plus rollover image under the main image to the right.   As I said, on these specific pages, in IE 7 the symbol jumps to the top left of the main image.
    For your info, I have seen this problem on my older XP pc, which runs IE 7.  All is fine on my newer Vista pc, which is using IE8 & Firefox.

  • Cfinput datefield gives wrong display in IE6 IE7

    With CF8, I try cfform=html with cfinput type=datefield. When
    I use 2 input dates, and click on the calendar image, the opened
    calendar window appears behind the second cfinput. You can check
    the result here :
    datefiled.pdf
    The code is quite simple :
    <cfform action = "cfinput.cfm">
    <p> </p>
    <cfinput type="datefield" name="MyDate1"
    firstDayOfWeek="1">
    <p> </p><p> </p>

    <input type="Submit" name = "" value="Submit">

    The display problem appears in IE6 and IE7, but not in
    Firefox. Is this a bug, or any workaround is already know ?
    Thanks.
    Firmus.

    <input type="Submit" name = "" value="Submit">
    corrected to: <input type="Submit" name = "sbmt"
    value="Submit">
    > Is this a bug
    Seems so. You should report it.
    i suspect the likely cause to be the z-index value.
    Z-index
    is a CSS property. It determines one element's stack order in front
    of or behind another. An element with a higher z-index will be
    stacked in front of one with a lower value. The default value is 0,
    for example, in the case where you don't specify the z-index.
    To see the relevance to your case, open in Internet Explorer
    a page containing just the form. View the source code. The
    Coldfusion engine has automatically arranged the HTML within the
    form into two main DIV blocks, each containing other DIVs. You will
    notice that neither of the two main DIV blocks has z-index in its
    style attribute. It means that they have the same z-index value,
    namely, the default value 0.
    The calender image at the top has the same z-index value as
    the input field at the bottom, namely, the default value 0. One
    would naturally expect that order of appearance would be the
    deciding factor. Apparently, order of appearance is important in
    Mozilla but not in Internet Explorer. It seems that, if two
    elements have the same z-index, Internet Explorer may show the
    second one in front of the first.
    >... any workaround ...
    Yes, here is one:
    <cfform action = "cfinput.cfm">
    <div class="df1" style="position:relative;">
    <p> </p>
    <cfinput type="datefield" name="MyDate1"
    firstDayOfWeek="1">
    </div>
    <div class="df2" style="position:relative;z-index:-1;">
    <p> </p><p> </p>
    <cfinput type="datefield" name="MyDate2"
    firstDayOfWeek="1">
    </div>
    <div class="sbmt">
    <p> </p>
    <cfinput type="Submit" name = "sbmt" value="Submit">

  • .swf displaying in preview, but not on actual web page

    As above really. I don't really use Flash, but was just trying to put up a little video demo online.
    Just dragged the video onto the canvas, published it as an .swf, but when I upload it all and visit the web page, the video clip / swf isn't displaying.
    Its fine in the preview though.
    The page is here :
    http://www.hpwebdesign.co.uk/demo.html
    Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    OK - I didn't think you needed to upload the original video clip.
    Anyway - I've recreated my steps.
    1. Opened Flash.
    2. Created a new ActionScript 3 page
    3. File > Import > Video with Load external video with playback component
    4. Save file
    5. Publish SWF
    6. Switch to DW and Insert > Media > SWF
    Before switching to DW, it all looks OK in the preview.
    How do I get Flash to create the HTML page? I had a quick look through the menus, but didn't see anything....

  • Swf displays white border on dreamweaver pages

    I have a problem with some swf files displaying a white border when displayed on a dreamweaver built page.
    one file has borders on both sides, while another has the white border on both top and bottom of the swf file
    I had guessed it was a masking issue but then doesnt seem to be the case.

    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    The problem was that I "allowed" deamweaver to add a border to the file. Who knew.

  • Compressed .swf Display Issue

    Hey guys,
    I recently created a simple Flash animation, and uploaded it HERE (deviantART stash). I hoped to upload an LZMA compressed version to reduce the file size and increase its loading speed.
    Problem: although the animation shows when you click the "download" button, it doesn't show on the main page.
    These are my publish settings:
    The UNCOMPRESSED animation shows up fine (uploaded HERE), but the file size is way too big and it loads way too slowly for me to work with.
    I realised that in the page source of the artwork's page, the compressed file shows the following code:
                  <iframe class="flashtime" src="http://sandbox.deviantart.com?fileheight=0&filewidth=0&filename=fs70%3Af%2F2014%2F218%2F6% 2F8%2Ffinalyeah_fixed_by_eresince-d7tyi43.swf"                   height="0"
                       width="0"
                        frameborder="0" scrolling="no" noresize="noresize"></iframe>
    The height and width for the artwork displayed on the page is 0px x 0px, though its original dimension is 700px x 700px. This does NOT apply for the uncompressed file, which displays fine. I'm not sure if this says anything, just hope this helps a little.
    I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong (publish settings? actionscript coding?) Any sort of help that could help me solve this problem is much needed because I've been stumped for more than a week now, it's very frustrating.
    * Please note I cannot edit the website's page because this is not my site! Just an online art community.
    Thank you so much for your time!

    Hey kglad, I published the HTML code of the Flash file and pulled it into Chrome - it works. Does this mean there's some sort of clash between my file and deviantART's coding? Since dA isn't helping, I would really like to see what I can do to make it work or all my work on this flash is wasted.
