SWF plays locally but not on live site

I created a popup html file which contains an swf with
animation and sound. On the homepage of the website, I defined an
"onClick" behavior to open this popup window containing the swf
file. This works fine locally on my computer, but when I put all of
the files on my server, the popup window opens but nothing appears
except the title of the popup in the title bar of the
window...other than that the popup is a blank white screen. I'm new
at this...what's wrong??? Spending way too much time on this!
Thanks.

yes...i uploaded the popup html file and the swf file...in
fact, the actual swf file will play if i type in the address to the
swf file, but if i open the index page and click on the text with
the clickOn behavior, the popup opens but is blank. Here's the
popup url:
http://www.onguardkids.com/Video/alarm_sound.swf
but it will not play if i type in the direct popup page:
http://onguardkids.com/alarm_sound.html
here's the index page...on the bottom left corner the popup
opens when you click on "Click Here to Hear Alarm".
http://www.onguardkids.com
Also, is there a behavior that will change the curser to a
pointer when it is over the "Click Here to Hear Alarm" text?
Thanks.

  • Flash videos showing locally, but not on my site. help please

    Hi,
    I converted several avi's to flash, I then inserted the FLV
    file into and html file in dreamweaver.
    The flash files will play locally, but not when i upload them
    to web server. Check it out here please
    http://kdsi.org/kds/demo.html
    please check the demos above to see what i mean. I just get a
    blank page.
    Anyway to insert video into the page like youtube? (instead
    of the "demo video" button have the video embedded and just click
    play to play it. without using the popup like i did.)
    thank you.
    thanks

    Hi,
    I am sorry i did not get what you mean with the last
    sentence, but generally, this may be a path problem, you need to
    check your FLV path and make it meet the path on the server not the
    local machine.

    right off the top ..
    You have two script calls to the Scripts folder and file ..
    one is root
    relative and the other goes up one level. One of them needs
    to be removed.

    Make sure your server is configured to serve .flv files. Ask
    your host if
    there is a mime type set up for that file extension.

  • Swf works locally, but not on server

    I have an issue with an xml-driven swf file. It plays fine when I test the site locally, but not when it's uploaded to a server. Here is a link to the page. There are many posts on this and other forums describing the same problem, though I can't find the right solution. The only thing it has convinced me of, is that it is probably a pathing problem. I purchased the file online, and instead of one swf and one xml there are about ten of each to make it work. In addition to this there are about 40 .as files. (all this to make it "easier" to customize).  Since I plan to use this banner rotator on multiple pages, it will be very unconvenient to upload all these files for every page I make. I checked with support for this product, and was told I could make a flash directory, only duplicating the xml-files for each new page and linking the xml back to the swf-files. Otherwise the support answer was very short and unhelpful. I have renamed every path in the xmls so that it should be right. As I said, the file works locally, so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
    I have posted in adobe forums before, and I have alwas found helpful and kind responses.
    Thank you,
    Siri

    They're all uploaded to the server, it is also possible for me to dowload them from there. When i run the main swf file through flash player debugger, I get this message:
    Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. URL: file:///Users/Siri/Documents/gullstolen/hjemmeside/flash/produkter/deploy/xml/abrMain.xml

              at com.sQrt121.utils::ContentLoader$/addJob()
              at AbrMain/init()
    So I guess it can't locate the xml folder (since it is not there), but I don't know how to change the path. I can change it in the xml, pointing to the swf, but how do I do it the other way?
    This is the main xml-file:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <abrMain
              width                              = "300"
              height                              = "250"
              pauseOnOver                    = "off"

              <item          swf                    = "/Users/Siri/Documents/gullstolen/hjemmeside/flash/produkter/deploy/abrcontent.swf"                                    xml = "xml/abrContent.xml"                                        config          = "xml/config.xml"/>
              <item          swf                    = "/Users/Siri/Documents/gullstolen/hjemmeside/flash/produkter/deploy/abrbuttonscolor.swf"                               xml = "xml/abrButtonsColor.xml"                                        config          = "xml/config.xml"/>
              <item          swf                    = "/Users/Siri/Documents/gullstolen/hjemmeside/flash/produkter/deploy/abrpreloadercircle.sw f"               xml = "xml/abrPreloaderCircle.xml"                              config          = "xml/config.xml"/>
              <item          swf                    = "/Users/Siri/Documents/gullstolen/hjemmeside/flash/produkter/deploy/abrpreloaderline.swf"                               xml = "xml/abrPreloaderLine.xml"                              config          = "xml/config.xml"/>
              <item          swf                    = "/Users/Siri/Documents/gullstolen/hjemmeside/flash/produkter/deploy/abrplaypause.swf"                               xml = "xml/abrPlayPause.xml"                                        config          = "xml/config.xml"/>
    </abrMain>
    the abrMain.xml tells the swf what files it shold use, and where to find them, but where do I tell the abrMain.swf to find the xml? Maybe this is an issue for product support instead, though they only answer short and cryptic.

  • Published F4v video and html plays locally but not online...

    I am running Windows 7/64 and Master Collection. I've created a clip of DV NTSC footage to test F4V publishing. Done this many times with CS3 and flv files but this has me stumped. I can successfully view the video and web page locally in IE and Netscape but on upload to my server I have the menu and placement right but no video appears. I created the clip in Premiere Pro CS5 and exported to F4V/FLV best quality. Opened an Actionscript Media DV NTSC template in Flash Pro CS5 and imported the video which I had pre-placed in my root web folder locally. I then exported the swf and saved the fla. All files were then in my root folder and the scrpts in the scripts folder. In Live View in Dreamweaver CS5 all looked fine. In each browser locally the video played as expected. Once all files were uploaded the video was not visible.
    The file is located here...
    http://www.goodmangraphic.com/2010vid.htm
    in the root directory are... Sequence 01_1.f4v, minimaflatcustomcolorall.swf, 2010movie.swf, 2010movie.fla and in the scripts folder, expressinstall.swf and swfobject_modified.js.
    Thanks in advance for any guidance on what I may be doing wrong.
    John

    Ross,
    As you suggested I checked the fla and indeed the local path was there so I changed it to it's relative path, then re exported the swf and saved the fla, re-uploading the files. No luck on ability to see online or even local preview. So I then reset the file location to use the actual URL online and that would not work and even in fla showed an error it could not connect to the file. So I reverted to local naming of the file again to test and sure enough it previewed fine locally in both browsers but again reverting to a relative path or http, failed to sucessfully see the video.
    I am not having these issues with flv format, just the f4v. As an example here is the flv version using the url in the fla file attributes...
    http://www.goodmangraphic.com/2010vid_b.htm
    BTW - I simply renamed the extension after duplicatng the file for the video in this example.
    Appreciate the help.

  • Captivate 5.5: preloader shows locally but not on web site

    What could be happening on my server that prevents my Captivate 5.5 AS3 preloader from displaying?
    I can see a blip when I preview the courses locally, and when I upload files to another server, I can see the preloader display perfectly. But on my usual server, which used to show the preloader, I just get a few seconds of blank screen before my course plays.
    So Captivate is working OK, but what could be happening on my server which until today was behaving properly? (Yes, I'll contact my hosting service, but if you've run across a similar issue and maybe a solution, any ideas you have may help me talk with them.)
    Thanks!

    Rick, I have a weird problem now.
    my files sometimes load and sometimes don't!
    when I place the url on the current webpage (where the index is) - the files load.
    when i click them from the index file, a new window opens up but the files don't load.
    this behavior is not consistent. a few hours ago it did work.
    any ideas???

  • Preloader: works locally but not when live

    1. give that you have website A, website B and local
    directory structure
    2. give that you have a class based (see code snippet 2
    below) 444k swf
    sitting on website A
    3. give that you have a preloader swf on the local directory
    structure
    [that uses code in CODE SNIPPET 1]. _debug.text shows that
    bytes total is
    454103 and that the preloader rises smoothly up to that
    point. great!
    4. give that you move said preloader swf on to website B.
    _debug.text
    shows that bytes total is -1 for a bit, then undefined
    and.... that's
    about all until the swf actually finishes loading at which
    point we
    briefly see 454103 before displaying the swf
    eh?

    ok, the trick is to use MovieClipLoader instead. its
    onLoadProgress method does just the job you want... :)
    thank &*$£ for that. :)

  • Flash site works locally but not online (uploaded to server)

    We have bought a flash portfolio template and have customized it with our pictures, video, etc.
    When we test it locally on our computer (using different web browsers) it all works perfectly well. We have uploaded the finished website to our server and when you go to the address online, it doesn't work (a loader progress shows but it is stopped and nothing happens).
    We have however uploaded the original template we bought and it works perfectly online.
    The template consists of and index.html, various .swf, and various .xml that we have modified according to the template instructions (it also contains a java script folder we haven't touched).
    What is it wrong with our modified template - it works locally without problem…!
    Thanks for your help

    When a Flash file works locally but not on-line, it's almost always a pathing issue (provided you did upload ALL files and do not have something missing... as suggested by Ned).
    A "pathing issue" results when the main .swf cannot find one or more of the associated Flash files...like an xml file or images.
    It can be something as simple as using switching file names to all lower case. Local machine is not case sensative... most servers are. So "My Photo.JPG" is not the same as "my_photo.jpg". When naming files, best to use all lower case, no spaces in any file or folder names... use_underscore_instead.
    But the most common cause is that those associated files (xml, images, etc.) are not pathed relative to the Web page where the main .swf is embedded. Pathing to the .xml and image files should be as though the .swf was located in the same folder as the Web page... NOT the actual location of the .swf file.
    And that includes paths to the xml file and paths to image files coded into those xml files. Everything need to be coded relative to the Web page.

  • Image loads locally but not on Website?

    I have constructed a slide show viewer for use on a website.
    The swf loads jpeg images which are contained in the same
    directory. This works well on my local machine but when uploaded to
    a website and called up by an html file, the swf runs and shows the
    correct backgrounds but fails to load any jpegs. I assume that the
    problem is to do with the transfer of the variable 'Select_picture"
    into the loadMovie statement?
    The following loop (step variable = pic_no) works locally but
    not on website:-
    >>var Select_picture:String="Pic"+pic_no+".jpg";
    >>var Select_mc:String="mc"+pic_no;
    >>
    >>this.createEmptyMovieClip([Select_mc], depthnow++);
    >>loadMovie([Select_picture], [Select_mc]);
    In order to prove that a picture could be loaded on the
    website, I simplied the code to :
    >>loadMovie("pic1.jpg",[Select_mc]);
    and this worked.
    So, I tried to transfer the same string directly via the
    variable;-
    >>var Select_picture:String="Pic1.jpg";
    >>
    >>loadMovie([Select_picture], [Select_mc]);
    But this does not work.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Dave

    Thanks , Arunkkumar2207j and ggshow for your suggestions.
    1, The image size isn't a problem because the one I used for
    the test is only 200k. And the single test image loads very quickly
    on the website.
    2. I don't think the depth of the movie clip is a problem
    either because depthnow starts at a very large number and is
    incremented for each clip and works well for multiple clips on my
    local machine. Also when loading a single image is should not be a
    problem. Also, I think I proved that was working with the single
    image test?
    3. The htm, swf and images are in the same directory. But for
    the test, I ran the swf directly on the website (without using the
    htm file to load it)
    Please keep the suggestions coming....!
    Many thanks

  • Why won't CSS changes save -  Are Reflected Locally, but not there when uploaded.

    I have recently re-installed Dreamweaver CC 2014.1.1. I am editing an existing site http://www.travelight.tv/test.html. CSS changes won't save (i.e ".righthalf" and <strong> and H3.)  I finally replaced the class with a table for the sake of time. Still can't save <strong> and H3 changes. CSS Designer Panel correctly shows the H3 font and the hex color (ee5e33) - but the color palate shows black. The uploaded document reflects gray. The changes are reflected properly locally, but not when uploaded to server. The time/date stamp doesn't update, despite saving several times. What am I missing?

    Sorry about that, I managed to get the test URL wrong. http://www.travelight.tv/test/index.html. I had to remove the righthalf class from the document, but the <strong> and <h3> tags are still having issues.As for the location, I am opening the one that is linked to the document from the bar at the top of the document - it is the only one named travelight.css. Below is the a screen shot of the folder.

    No, you should have Restrictions OFF.
    Computer's iTunes > Preferences > Parental Preferences > everything should be unchecked.
    Are the songs also on computer's iTunes?
