Swing - Jdbc Components

Hi friends.
I'm newer in Java, and i'm searching for 3er party
components (comercial or free), that connects swing
with jdbc (for example, one tablemodel that connects
with jdbc for read and write).

"HomeDatabase.jar" which worked well.
I have experience with jdbc but not with jsdbc

Arabic numerals not displaying in Swing text components

On a test system setup with Windows NT Arabic version, we had problems entering Arabic numerics into Swing text components.
Other Arabic characters were displayed correctly, but numerals were all represented by Western characters ('0 to 9'). Even when using the "Alt-" method to enter the Unicode character codes via. the keypad, we still got incorrect characters.
When using the keypad to enter the code '\u0660' (Arabic "1"), the code sent to the text component was '\u2022' (Bullet).
We tried this on an English system and the same code was passed to the text component.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the cause of this problem ?

Unable to refresh parent swing form components after returning from child

Hi,
Not able to refresh the parent swing form components after returning from the child form.
I am having problem in setting/resettig values to the parant swing form components after returning from child form. In parent form, I am entering values in some of the fields and clicking on Search button in parent form which will open a child window with the search results in JTable. Now selecting a row and writing the selected data to an ArrayList and returning back to the parent. I am able to see the values in the ArrayList, but not able to set any value to any of the parent form components by using the formtextfield.setText("value").

a frame with a formattedTextfiled and a button
the button to open a child window
in the child window use say a JTextField to simulate a search result (type in some dummy data)
now add the arraylist code that produces the problem

Crystal Report for Eclipse - Java SWING - JDBC Examples?

Good day! I am just a newbie in Java Programming and I am wondering if there is an example application in SWING-JDBC w/reports that uses Crystal reports w/ Eclipse IDE. As what I have noticed, all of the examples I have seen here are all in jsp and I havent seen anything for swing-jdbc only. I want to try using crystal reports in java.  Do you guys have some examples (even a very simple one) that uses crystal reports with Eclipse and even with a simple database like Access? Any sample, tutorial downloads with this topic? hope you guys can help. thank you very much and God bless.

Crystal Reports doesn't have the same niece tooling for desktop/swing applications that it does for JSP/Web applications.Â That said you can still create reports with CR4Eclipse and use them in a Swing applications.Â Try out these samples that I posted.Â They are all desktop/swing applications.Â These will work with Eclipse.

Swing-jdbc

we are developing a swing applicaiton.it is connecting to an oracle 10gr2 database.all database calls are written seperately in a class and conncetions are closed in finaly block.the problem is that on invoking the application few times in a row, the following sql exception is happening
java.lang.NullPointerException
java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
ORA-12519, TNS:no appropriate service handler found
The Connection descriptor used by the client was:
172.16.18.192:1521:oncodms
is it due to some network problem or database server related problem?? or some problem with the code?? ive seen connection pooling in j2ee containers ,is it possible to implement something like that in swing application??

Java swing/visual components in an Oracle Form

Hello,
Has someone used visual javabeans embedded in Oracle Forms ?
is there a special api or componente to use?
I want to embed a jclass javabean in an Oracle Form (oracle forms client)

There are examples of white papers on OTN which show how you can integrate Java Beans into the Forms UI.
You may have some success with Swing but forms is based on AWT/EWT of which there was only and old (and not
very good) Swing version.
As I said - check out the white papers and you can try the demos which are on the Sample Code page.

Swing disabled components look and feel problem.

I have a Swing application. My system is recently upgraded to JRE 1.6 and I'm facing problem with look and feel of swing components when they are disabled. Color of disabled components is very faint and its being difficult to read the text in such disabled components. In JRE 1.4 this problem was not there. Please let me know what I can do to get the look and feel(Color and Font) of disabled components, same as JRE 1.4.

Swing GUI components

Hi, I'm starting to learn swing, and I'm trying to figure what components to use for my particular application. I'm preparing to build a gui that represents the status of hardware in realtime (ie this application regularly polls hardware and receives status data over a socket) I would like this to look like a grid in which a row and column junction represent a particular hardware status.
I've been looking for a 'indicator' type of component, but can't find anything that fits the bill from the standard components.
I've been thinking that one way to implement the gui is to create a grid of JPanel components, and change the background color of individual panels to reflect status. Is there away to group JPanels together?
Any suggestions would be appreciated-

As CaptainMorgan has already pointed out, the JTable is probably a better component for what you are looking for. However, you can also group your JPanels by using the [url http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/api/javax/swing/BoxLayout.html]javax.swing.BoxLayout.

Creating Swing UI Components

For my application i am trying to create a custom user interface component of my choice, it can be of any type like semi circle image, which have different kinds of property as he have with swing components. I should be able to increase the size, decrease the size etc.
I dont have any idea how to approach. Anyone could please assist me how to go about it

one, you should write custom UI extending one of javax.swing.plaf classes. Then you would call
setUI() of your custom component.

Character reordering problem in swing text components on macintosh

I have created a swing application that handles devanagari script.(script for Hindi language).The application works perfectly in windows but in apple macintosh
there is a problem with the reordering of characters in text componets. Reordering means some characters needs to be displayed not in the exact order in which they are stored.I was wondering how this can happen as the application works fine on windows.Also other applications like text editor displays devanagari script correctly on macintosh.
I tried with several fonts like Arial Unicode MS,Devanagari MT etc/.java

1) Install RCU 11.1.1.5 and created respositories.
2) Installed SOA,ODI,OSB ( 11.1.1.5 ).
Now during final configuration steps
$MIDDLE_WARE_HOME/Oracle_SOA1/common/bin/config.sh
Getting error in validaion of OSFM MDS schema ..
It is looking for 11.1.1.6 version..
It is running below query

Problem with JDBC and VARCHAR-Columns

i have a problem handling VARCHAR-Columns via JDBC.
I.e. by using the JDBC-components of <SunONE Community Edition Update 1> any attempt to store any other then numeric values (like "0", "01", "999" etc.) in a column of type VARCHAR results in an error.
After entering the string "test" in a JTextArea or JTextField (which is linked by its document to the VARCHAR-column) i will receive:
"java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "st"/For input string: "st". I also tried the javax.sql. rowSet methods like updateString() with the same result.
Are there any knwon issues corresponding to this behaviour?

Hi Arnd,
if I understand right you are trying to insert/update value into a Varchar(1000) column. And if you set a non numeric value you get an exception "java.lang.NumberFormatException", Right?
Of course this should work with MaxDB. The exception you get doesn't come from MaxDB's JDBC driver. The driver will only throw exceptions that are derived from java.sql.Exception.
So, I guess the error comes from a layer above the JDBC layer, possibly from the JDBC-components of <SunONE Community Edition Update 1>. This would also explain why you don't see any exception in the JDBC trace.
Did you have defined any constraints for the input field (JTextArea or JTextField)?

Deploying a BC4/ADF Swing Application to a JAR File

Hello,
what do I exactly have to do, to deploy an ADF/Swing/Business Components-
Project-Application to a JAR File. I can not start it outside the JDevloper IDE,
but I created a deployment profile and deployed it to a JAR.
There is always the error "Could not find the main class", when starting the
JAR. In the JDeveloper IDE the application is running, and I also defined a "main class" there.
Could anybody help me please?

You need the ADF runtime libraries in your classpath or as part of your JAR.
Have a look at the command that JDeveloper is using to run your project (it is in the log window) and copy the classpath defenition provided there to the command line you use.
