Sybase Unwired Platform - User Interface Validations

Hi,
Does the Sybase Unwired Platform have a mechanism that enables the developer to integrate User Interface Validations?
Apple provides a standard way to validate user interfact items: http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Cocoa/Conceptual/UIValidation/UIValidation.pdf
Is there an inherent mechanism that is a part of the Sybase Unwired platform that triggers client-side validations to prevent unncessary round-trips for simple validations that can be processed by the client itself?

Hi,
For simple validations there is an in-built option in SUP. We can assign rule validations to edit box, this is well explained in [Sybase Infocenter|http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.infocenter.dc01284.0152/doc/html/vhu1232730866978.html]. Or else we can also do some custom coding and achieve user interface validations. Sybase Unwired Platform - Error in creating a Blackberry Application

Hi Experts,
I am working in the development of Blackberry application using Sybase Unwired Platform and SAP as the backend data source. As a part of this I had created a Remote enabled function module in SAP which returns an internal table as the output. In the Sybase Unwired Workspace I had created an MBO with this function module and created the User Interface using Device Application Designer. When I test this application in the simulator BlackBerry Storm2 9550, It is showing an error which says
Encountered error while synchronizing package <package_name> and synchronization group "default", see logs for details : com.Sybase.persistence.SynchronizeException: com.Sybase.persistence.ProtocolException: deivce's protocol version is incompatible with the server's protocol version. (1>0)
I am using Sybase Unwired Platform 1.5.5 for this development and BlackBerry Storm2 9550 as simulator.
Can anybody help me to solve this issue?

Hi pradeep,
      Application is connected with SUP because i tried a simple application using sampleDB.
        But when i used to connect SAP to Application, that error generated.
        I created SAP Connection successfully but its still show that "Could not initialize class com.sap.mw.jco.JCO in Sybase Control Center's Domain's log page.
        I am not able to understand why that error generate because i connected successfully with SAP in Sybase Workspace.
        I think that is the problem of 64 & 32 bit files problem.
I used windows 7 64 bit.
Please reply me.

A RESTful web service (also called a RESTful web API) is a simple web service implemented using HTTP and the principles of REST. It is a collection of resources, with three defined aspects:
- the base URI for the web service, such as http://example.com/resources/
- the Internet media type of the data supported by the web service. This is often JSON, XML or YAML but can be any other valid Internet media type.
- the set of operations supported by the web service using HTTP methods (e.g., POST, GET, PUT or DELETE).
On Sybase Unwired WorkSpace you can select, in Enterprise Explorer, REST Web Services connection defining a resource base URL and URI template, and then using this as MBO defining HTTP method and parameters.

Currently sybase supports Windows mobile ,iPhone ,blackberry Platforms but soon it will support android also
as android is growing very fast SYBASE will soon launch platform for android also.
sybase site has all the relevant information on this though currently not for android but

Error in Blackberry application using Sybase Unwired Platform

Hi Experts,
I am developing a mobile application, in which I need to give authorization to all SAP users. For this I had created an RFC enabled Function Module in SAP R/3, which checks the input username and password. If the username and password satisfies the condition the output internal table may get filled, otherwise the output internal table will get refreshed.
Suppose for the first time when I am giving wrong username and password int he front application, Internal table will be empty. This is correct as per the logic. During the second time when I enter correct username and password, It will fetch all the needed values this is also correct. But during the third time when I enter correct username and wrong password and debug there is no value in the internal, but in the mobile front end it is showing the data.
Can anybody help me to solve this issue?

Hi,
The problem in your case is, whenever you request data from your ERP backend this data is cached in SUP CDB tables. For eg. if you try to give a different userid and password for the fourth time, then you will see the data of both the first and the second user.
This is not a problem but a feature provided in SUP to cache data. This improves performance when you have huge number of devices. Your issue can be resolved by configuring the cache groups.

The lack of download option, even for client/partners that would like to help SAP sell this product is very surprising and disappointing. I have filled out the form, been in direct contact with local office but the answer I get is that SAP is not giving user a developer/demo download option if SAP consulting is not involved (basically SAP needs to be paid for the trial download). I have heard from some people in the USA having more luck with this process but in the end SAP is going to lose money due to this. If the techies are not able to get their feet wet with the technology then we are not able to sell this from the buttom up, opening up the market for the competitors.
Hope someone from SAP is reading this, they should be on this forum since mobility is such a huge topic at the moment at Sapphire.

[Sybase Unwired platform] newbie questions

Hi,
I am a newbie to SUP (and Mobile app development ). I did go through a lot of stuff related to SUP and even succeeded in installing the same and pinging the unwired server.
My queries are as follows :
I have a mobile application (already developed) which is currently talking to the backend ABAP servers. But now this application needs to talk to SUP in between and then SUP should be bridged to Netweaver gateway.
To go about achivening this,
1. I understand that I need to call the right SUP APIs from application .Can anyone help/redirect me to SUP APIs that I need to know and where can i find the same?
2. What needs to be done to bridge the SUP to the Netweaver gateway and inturn to backend servers?
3. Would this need relay server configuring?
4. WHat do I have to learn (as a pre-requisite) to integrate my mobile application with SUP ?

IFrame in Hybrid Web Container / Sybase Unwired Platform

I'm completely new to this and have a hopefully simple question:
I'd like to display additional content in an SUP on mobile devices.
Is it possible to add an iframe and display content from a web server?
if this is possible can i communicate with this frame using JavaScript?

I believe this is possible. Have you tried it?
If not, add an htmlview to your screen, create a key for it and assign it to have a default value such as <iframe src="http://www.sybase.com" style="width:300px;height:400px"></iframe>

Sybase Unwired Platform for Blackberry

Hi All,
I could able to run RBS and MBS using SUP 2.0 on Simulator. When I try to do that in a device, I get communication error in SUP client log. Having said that,
1) Does any one tried connecting SUP (2.0 or 1.5) to a Device. If yes, did you use BES or BIS?
2) Can this communication happen only with BIS?
As a side note, Emulator/Simulator is using a MDS simulator to connect SUP. Is BIS capable of providing needed services for SUP?

Please make sure the dll and jar files extracted from the zip fles have been copied to the right locations.

I've placed the jar and dll files on the places described in your blog:
So in librfc32.dll and sapjcorfc.dll into:
1) C:\windows\system32
2) sup install root\Servers\UnwiredServer\lib
3) sup install root\JDK1.6.0_16\bin (here we have 2 JDK1.6.0_16 folders (one normal and one 64 bit) so i placed the files in the both folders
and sapjco.jar into :
1) SUP Installationroot\Unwired_workspace\Eclipse\sybase_workspace\mobile\eclipse\plugins\com.sybase.uep.com.sap.mw.jco_1.5.version\lib
2) SUP Installationroot\Servers\UnwiredServer\lib\3rdparty
Can this be a problem with the jco in 32- or 64-bit? Or is this SUP version 1.5.2 specific? in the installation documents they also refer to jco 1.2.8 but this one isn't supported by SAP anymore...

How to Edit a Field inside an operation in Sybase Unwired Platform

Hi,
We are using SUP SP04 and back-end with SAP RFC.
I have created an operation called 'CreateIssue'.
The operation 'CreateIssue' uses an RFC called 'CREATE_ISSUE'.
The mapping has been done between the client parameters of our operation and the remote operation arguments of the RFC.
In SAP RFC, the datatype is defined as STRING(0). But In SUP it is showing as STRING(300).
Among all the input parameters of the operation, I want to change the datatype of a variable from STRING(300) to STRING(3000).
Since this is not editable, how to change the size of the string variable?
Kindly suggest.

Sybase Unwired Platform NOT working over Verizon 3G

We have a custom iPad2 app that we've been using fine since July but suddenly around Oct 19th it quit working in both our production and development environments.
The strange thing is that only the Verizon 3G is the piece not working.
When an iOS(5 or 4.3.3) device on an Internet connected WiFi network syncs with our SUP instance, it works fine.
When WiFi is turned off on the iOS(5 or 4.3.3) device and that same device attempts to connect to SUP using Verizon 3G, the sync fails.
When a similarly configured iOS(5 or 4.3.3) device performs the same tests on AT&T iPad. SUP syncs fine both on WiFi and 3G.
The network infrastructure does not have any specific rules or routes to treat incoming 3G IP addresses differently from any other Internet address.
Is anyone else experiencing this or have any idea what could be going on?

Opened an OSS message and it turns out this is a known issue specific to Verizon 3G. Here is what SAP told us and their work around that fixed us:
This is a known issue with Verizon devices.
Issue:
On iOS devices using Verizon 3G and on some airlines's Wifi, data is not displayed on the devices. This impacts SUP applications - both Workflow and native apps.
Cause
Verizon has content filtering that blocks delivery of data on iOS
devices. Verizon acknowledged this issue but will have to manually
remove the content filtering for every device.
Work-around
Work-around is to configure the relay server to use a non default port
(other than 80). Engineering tested this workaround and confirmed that
this workaround resolves the issue.

Sybase unwired platform change Download queries

Hellow Experts!
I'm currently facing those of that non-sence errors the problem is:
I do the preview of the MBO in the workspace and The results come perfect.
Then I Deploy the project and the data that is downloaded is much less than i saw in the preview.
I'm Using Load Argument to filter data, and I use the sabe input to filter data in the preview.
So I'm Wondering what could be in the Middle of this cause I'm Not Getting it.
It there a way of checking/Alter the Download Queries?

Hi Daniel,
Double check whether you defined a wrong parameter as primary key in the MBO ? CDB (cache DB) will have only one copy of each primary key value.
Ex.
Data in backend: {Midhun, bangalore, india}, {Midhun, Chennai, India}. And if you are defining name (Midhun) as primary key in MBO only one data will be present in CDB.
Provide more information on the configurations to help you further.

SAP Objects not getting loaded in Sybase Unwired Platform

I am able to create an SAP connection successfully through SAP router string..
But it is not able to Read the SAP objects from the Repository..
The status bar says 'Reading Objects from Repository' but the Application Components are not seen..

Try to Update your Workspace JCO.
OR
This is not a requirement for Windows 7, or 64-bit Windows Server 2008 system.
Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable.
Obtain the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable from: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=14431.
You can install the service pack after installing the 2.1 ESD #3 upgrade if you discover you need it.
