Synch Folder How? (Why such a painful experience Adobe?)
I have been using Adobe products for 20+ years now.
I'm new (1 month) to Adobe Creative Cloud.
I'm really disappointed with the creative cloud.
I want to set up a folder on my laptop that synchs with the cloud and also synchs on my desktop machine.
Should be an easy process... In fact the Adobe instructions make it look easy, however when you attempt to follow the instructions, instead of "Download" the link says "Learn More". Why am I paying for something that is an essential part of the package and seeming not ready?

Sadly you're not alone, the Cloud Connection beta testing that paying customers were using didn't go so well, you can read more about it here from paying customers perspective:

Ugly software is what it is. Only found it by accident.My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

My MacBookPro with Mountain Lion seems to be making copies of files in my download folder. Why is this happening and how do I stop it?
This issue has nothing to do with Time Machine or local snaphsots. No built-in feature of OS X does what you describe.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:

Copy (command-C) the selected text to the Clipboard. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered. You can do that by copy-and-paste as well. Omit the final line ending in “$”. No typing is involved in this step.

Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
You can then quit Terminal. -
I am running on OSX 10.10.1 and have a 2009 imac intel and I am having severe latency issues. I am not familiar with macs as this is my home computer used by other family members. Any help on how to troubleshoot why such latency issues?

Why is shipping to an address other than the billing address such a pain?
On 11/6, I placed an order for an iPad mini 3 (on Edge). I could not change the shipping address on the order, because I did not have either of the 2 phones on me that are on my account at the time, so I could not receive the "authorization code" via text message.
After placing the order, I immediately called to see if I could change the shipping address. No problem, they said.
On Saturday, 11/8, I received an email that they had to "further review" my order, and that I needed to call them within 7 days. I called immediately, accepted the terms and conditions, and again asked her to check (and change) the shipping address, since I knew the device had not shipped. No problem, she said.
Today, 11/10, I received tracking information. iPad being sent to my old address.
It's not the end of the world. Annoying, but it's my parents address, not some random old address. However, it's about 100 miles away. I left my billing address there because that's where my bank and credit card billing addresses are as well, since I'm planning on buying a house in the next year or two, I want to wait for that permanent residence before I change my mailing address for important things.
Today, I ordered a Droid Turbo on my main line. This time, I DID have my phone on me, and I was able to get the authorization code texted to me in order to authorize the address change BEFORE even placing the order. I changed the address to my work address. The "Ship To" address in my email confirmation shows my work address.
I received tracking information this evening. Phone being sent to my old address.
***, Verizon???! I called, and they said they could put in a "redirect request" on both orders, but that it would delay shipping. Well I guess there's no point, because if it's going to delay shipping until next week or longer, I'll get them faster by just going and picking them up this weekend.
For the iPad, it's whatever - I had to change it after ordering, so even though 2 reps confirmed it would be changed, I wasn't really surprised. But I don't understand why the Droid isn't shipping to the correct address when I changed it prior to completing the order AND it shows the correct "Ship To" address in my email confirmation.
Argh!! Why is this such a pain??!Actually, @SandyS_VZW I might like to have the phone redirected if it's at all possible, though I'm not entirely confident that it will even happen since it did not work with the iPad (even though it hadn't shipped when I changed the address... twice). There will be someone home at the old address today to receive the iPad when it is delivered, but there will NOT be someone home on Wednesday, when the phone is delivered.
How can I get the redirect started and ENSURE that it is being delivered to the correct address? When I called last night regarding the phone, they said there was "no indication or notes" showing that it was to be delivered to a different address, even though that's what is shows on all of my order confirmation emails and everywhere else! -

Why is it such a pain to use java in a country that uses commas as decimal separator?
A few weeks back I've asked here about the keypad decimal key. For some reason, java doesn't map the decimal key to a comma on the Portuguese (Portugal) keyboard layout. I've got no answer and I ended up using a custom plainDocument on the JTextFields to replace all points with commas.
Now, I've just spent the whole morning trying to store and use decimal numbers properly. For some reason, a Double/Float .valueOf method (or the corresponding parse method) simply ignores the locale in use and uses US defaults when parsing the string. I can't parse anything with commas in those methods and I should, as it is the decimal separator for the system and default locale being used by java.
First of all, I shouldn't be expected to perform replacements on every single operation that comes with a comma and I obviously can't be expected to program my own locale checking to decide what decimal separator to use in each final system. Second, is there any way to work with numbers seamlessly, without having to know the locale of the end user?
I'm sorry if this is all my fault for doing something completly wrong, I'm new to java and I did search around to no avail. I'm really frustrated with what seems to be a complete lack of support in java for locales other than the US one.Good old Cobol has the "DECIMAL-POINT IS COMMA" clause... And isn't it great? :)

How will you be able to determine which, without a locale?That's not what I've meant. Java should know the locale and behave accordingly. I don't have to know the locale of the end user since it might vary greatly. My point is that if strings are flying around with commas and if comma is the decimal separator on the end user's machine, any method aimed at parsing a numeric value out of a string should regard commas as such. I'm constantly replacing dots with commas and vice versa which could cause trouble if a different locale is used.
And I mean that as a rant. Given my inexperience with Java, there might be good reasons for such a behaviour as baftos argued. What I'm really interested is in finding the proper way to deal with this issue.
Have you tried the NumberFormat.parse? I will now.

ICloud doesn't remember synch folder for Photostream on Win7 PC
After the iCloud update that accompanied the iTunes 10.7 download, it's apparently forgotten how to remember configuration settings including the folder assigned for photostream synching.
Symptoms include the "Options ...." button alongside the Photostream option in the iCloud control panel not responding. I tried signing out and signing back in. The first time I did this, it did open up the Options dialog which is when I saw that it had changed the synch folder and started using what I assume is a default configuration, under My Pictures > Photostream. I deleted the Photostream folder under My Pictures, changed the synch folder location in the iCloud panel back to where I wanted it, saved the configuration and tested it again by taking a new picture on my iPad. Nothing. No pictures synched to the specified folder on the PC. I checked, and sure enough, it had recreated the Photostream folder under My Pictures, but hadn't synched the photo there either. And the Options button alongside Photostream in the iCloud control panel has stopped responding again.
For a company that promotes itself as one that provides a superior user experience, Apple totally suck at user experiences outside their own sandbox. iTunes is a disaster on the PC and now iCloud joins it in the "I'd trash it the minute I have a choice" category.Thanks HeliDavid, this seems to have resolved the problem. It still created My Photostream and Uploads folders, but at least this time they're within the folder I gave it, and it did synch photos.
Apple, if you're listening, it's inelegance of the highest order for an automatic software update to require one to have to uninstall it, reboot the machine and reinstall the software just to get it to work as it was intended to. Horrible customer experience, even Microsoft is beyond this point now. Get your act together. -

I don't think you can. You might ensure that their creation dates are in order, but I'm not so such that will help. Ordering seems to be a feature limited to use with iPhoto/Aperture. -
Cannot copy photos from camera roll to a synch folder
I cannot copy any photo stored in Camera Roll to folder that synch's with my PC. > "PC Synch Folder"< I am using iphone 4s and iPad 3. Happens to both iDevices.
On the iDevice the "PC Synch Folder" is greyed out when trying to do a copy. In fact, I cannot even delete that folder from either iDevices.
For what it's worth, I can create a new folder on either iDevice and copy from Camera Roll to it. Fine. But that folder will not talk to the folder that I want to synch with my PC. Strange?
The folder "PC Synch Folder" will indeed sych any picture I put in there from the PC side. However, what is in there, does not show up in Camera Roll. What I have in Camera roll cannot be transferred into the "PC Synch Folder" It's like there is a wall between the folders.
Hence the problem is ... pictures taken on either iDevices cannot be transferred back to my PC! I don't want this !

/tomI use Picasa. You don't have to use iTunes at all. Connect the phone with the USB cable and launch the app of your choice, such as Picasa. Click the "Import" button at the upper left. Your iPhone should appear in the dropdown of choices to import from. You can then import all or some of the photos in the Camera Roll. You should be able to do the same thing with Microsoft Picture Manager or any other photo management program.
The reason that Elements is the only choice is that's the only one that iPhoto on the phone recognizes albums in.
You cannot move photos INTO the Camera Roll from your computer; it's a one-way transfer. But you can sync photos to the Photos app on the iPhone. You either use Elements, or just create a folder on your computer for photos to sync, then create a sub-folder for each album you want on your computer. Copy the photos to each album, then go to the Photos tab in iTunes and select the top-level folder. When you sync each sub-folder will become an album on the iPhone.
However, I consider the photo app on the iPhone rather limited and klunky. Instead I use the app MyPics from the app store. It syncs photos from my Picasa Web albums directly to the phone over the air. I can also create albums in Picasa Web from the phone, and upload images from the Camera Roll directly to Picasa Web.
Another way to get photos (and other files) to and from the phone is Dropbox and similar cloud-based storage solutions. -

Because that is how all iOS upgrades are done. The device must first be erased. If you don't like the inconvenience then you are free to do nothing or continue to complain about it. It's your choice.

Downloading a file would normally bring up an option to open the file with the appropriate program or save it - for some reason now it just downloads straight to the download folder. Why? Problem with Firefox or something else? It's very frustrating - sometimes you want the file opened first so it can be discarded or saved to a different location.

AE CS4 - why such poor RAM preview on my FAST machine?
Hi all, I just installed After Effects CS4 - I have a smokin fast mchine: quadcore Zeon 3.20 GHz, hyperthreading turned on, nvidia quadrofx 3800 with current driver, 12 GB DDR3 RAM, windows 7 64bit ... can you PLEASE help me troubleshoot a problem: even on the simplest compositions, a moving picture or a moving piece of type, the RAM preview stutters along, the current time indicator hops along at a choppy pace, images in the frame dont look like they're moving smoothly, and all i get is about 6 seconds of RAM preview ... seems to me that I used to get better performance on a MUCH MUCH slower machine under windows XP ... i have looked around the forums and seem the advice on multiprocessor options and the like, but nothing I do seems to help ... do any of you have any advice for me to improve my performance??? if you have any questions about my setup or preferences, let me know, I will be on this until I get what I expect out of my (otherwise incredibly fast) machine

FYI, I bought the FX3800 for Avid editing, for which it is the qualified video card, and supports distributed processing in the Avid along with my DX HD hardware BOB - I had hoped it would work well with After Effects, too, but I do understand the Adobe is very transparent about the fact that, as long as your card has OpenGL support, probably best to sink your $$$ into more RAM or faster CPU .. but to stay on topic, I am just very stunned that I am not getting better playback with my system ... I have the most recent Nvidia drivers ... I have 2 NEC 2490WUXi2 each connected through DVI-D to my video card, each runnign at its native 1920x1200 res, 59 hertz ... the programs I have installed are Adobe CS4 Production Premium, Win7 64bit, MS Office 2007 Enterprise, latest version of Quick Time, Media Player version 11, and NERO 9 ... you dont think that one of these video player apps (like media player or QT) are messing with my screen performance do you? what about Nero 9, have you heard any compatibility or display problems associated with this app? would unistalling any of these programs be a troubleshooting technique that you'd attempt?
Finally, when you say "an issue with a bottleneck of drawing to the screen" what do you mean exactly? 'cause this kinds sounds like a goood description of what I am seeing ... what might be the cause of such a bottleneck, I am willing to try anything ...

Just one thing to cut down a frequent misconception:
Your nice graphics card doesn't do much for After Effects performance.In fact, trying to use OpenGL for rendering (including rendering of previews) can cause problems.
I recommend turning OpenGL rendering off for all but interactions. I.e., choose the http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/9.0/WSAF696587-2D81-42e2-B248-4C5C2B7D3614a.html and turn off http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/9.0/WS3878526689cb91655866c1103a4f2dff7-79e8a.htm l. OpenGL is not compatible with Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously multiprocessing.
I'm not saying that OpenGL is your problem. Rather, because you mentioned your nice graphics card, I just had to stress that you need to forget about that with regard to After Effects. It's not really relevant.
It may be that the jerkiness is an issue with a bottleneck of drawing to the screen. (I don't know, but it's possible.)
Your hard disk being too slow wouldn't be an issue with RAM previews, since the frames are all cached in RAM.

if you hid the menu bar and the navigation bar simply press the alt button, this will bring back the menu bar and form there you can right click and select which bars you want shown

Connection - Either connect one Mac in Target mode to the other via FireWire. Or use an external hard disk !
(Target-Mode - Start one Mac e.g. laptop - BUT keep T-key down during full up-start - Now a FW-symbol is jumping around the screen and it will work as an external hard disk when connected to the other Mac)
A. The External Hard Disk - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work for Video. UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange works for most other things but not for Video whatever program is used (iMovie or FinalCut)
B. Should be a FireWire one as USB/USB2 performs badly to me and especially when filling up
C. Do never Move or Alter any folder named
• iMovie Event's - or -
• iMovie Project's
on DeskTop/Finder - as this will result in iMovie losing connections to them and repair can be anything from hard to impossibly
D. Moving and Copying must be done within iMovie application and Events to Events - and - Project's to Project's.
E. Moving Project's to Event's - Do not work for me - I have to export project as a QuickTime movie then Import this into Events.
Event's window can show two faces

Why can't I download adobe flashplayer on my iPad 2? Several web programs, including Hayhouse radio, require adobe flashplAyer. iPad has an app for Hayhouse radio, but won't work without flashplAyer to access all content. No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.

Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.

Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."
