Syncing after a format of my computer

I had to format my computer and once I re-installed the itunes software, in order to sync my iphone with itunes now, it wants to do a complete format of my phone. Is there a way around this that will allow me to sync my iphone with itunes?

IPod Won't Sync After Moving Music to New Computer

With the help of someone here, I moved my iTunes Library from my old computer to my new one. It didn't work exactly like it was supposed to. All of my music is on my new computer and in my iTunes library, but my playlists, counts etc. are gone. Whatever - I'll deal. Now, though, my iPod won't sync with my new computer (which I did authorized). The "Do Not Disconnect" sign never goes away after I connect my iPod. Thoughts?

If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to a different iTunes. You'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. Your playlists won't be restored by simply connecting your iPod to iTunes.

Recently, my computer crashed. Lost everything. I was finally able to restore my music on my laptop to iTunes. However, now when I upload new music from the store, it saves it on my library, but will not sync to my iPod, even when I manually try to sync it.

I just recently reinstalled Mac OSX on my iMac. I would like to know sync my iPhone to iTunes. I have re-imported all of the songs/videos into my library.

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on one computer only, and photos can be transferred to an iPhone via the iTunes sync process from one computer only. When syncing iTunes content and transferring photos from another computer via the iTunes sync process, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased first.
By re-installing Vista, your computer is detected as a new or different computer by your iPhone.
Before re-installing Vista, did you update your computer's backup which should include your iTunes library and photos stored on your computer along with all other important data?
The iPhone is not designed nor intended to be a backup storage device.
Photos transferred to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process are optimized for viewing on your iPhone. If you are able to transfer these photos in the opposite direction, the original resolution of these photos will be lost.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content from an iPod or iPhone that was purchased from the iTunes store, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only.
With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
For iTunes content on your iPhone that was not purchased from the iTunes store and for photos that were transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, there are some 3rd party utilities available that provide for this, but such utilities are not supported by Apple, and the original resolution of these photos will be lost.
Try a Google search for such a utility.

After pc format a new computer is authorized

when i format my pc and then install itunes it again asks me to authorize the same computer again and a new computer is authorized every time i format my computer.why is it like this?.what should i do?

1. Because the files on the computer itself which tell that it was previously authorized were erased.
2. Use the Deauthorize Computer function before erasing it if possible. If it's not possible to do it before, it may work afterwards on the same machine even if it doesn't think it's authorized; if that doesn't work, use the Deauthorize All command documented in this article, and if needed, the link to contact the iTunes Store staff at the bottom of it.

How do you update pages after re-formating of the computer.

I did a clean install and now when i open iweb my pages are gone. Can i import them into ichat from .mac.
maybe place them a (folder)? so they appear in the ichat broswer?

Yes. Just make absolutely sure that your new computer has everything you want on it before formatting your old one. I'd recommend checking your Firefox bookmarks and saved passwords thoroughly just to be sure everything was synced over.
Note that Sync doesn't sync everything. For example. it doesn't yet sync up what addons you have installed, though this is planned for some future version.

Hi, I have to format my computer because there are problems with it. I'm pretty sure that when I format my computer and sync up my iPod Touch, it'll say that it's sync to another computer and needs to be format or whatever it is. So I was wonder if I can somehow save everything and restore after I format my computer or do I have to resync everything again from scratch, like my notes, music, and other things on my iPod Touch.

To prevent the automatic sync, You will want to ensure iPhone is not connected, Then launch and setup iTunes, Then go to Edit - Preferences - Devices, and put a check mark in the box to Disable automatic sync. So when you connect the iPhone it will show up in iTunes but not sync.
The next thing you will want to do if you are using Outlook 2003 or 2007 for contacts and calendars is to add 1 contact and 1 calendar event to the program. So when you do choose to sync this. It will offer a merge option.
If you do not use Calendars but use contacts only. Then you will need to open Windows Address Book, or Windows Contacts and add 1 contact to ensure you get a merge option.
To sync iTunes Store content back into iTunes. The link below will assist. If any of the content is from audio cds. You will need to re import these into iTunes.

For content you did not purchase from the iTunes Store, synchronization occurs in one direction only. This means your content can be copied from a computer to your iOS device, but cannot be copied from your device to a computer.
Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
Enter your Apple ID and password. Then, click the Authorize button.
Connect your device your computer. If it is synced with another iTunes library, you may be asked if you want to "Erase and Sync" or "Transfer Purchases."

If all your apps and music are in your iTunes library, try to make a backup of the iPod. Right click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Backup. Once you have a backup, restore the iPod from thatbackup. If you can't make a backup (or get a backup from the computer backup) you must restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and sync as necessary.

Remember any restoring of bookmarks overwrites whatever he current set is, and you may not want to loose them.
Even if up until now you have not made any backups of Desktop bookmarks Firefox will have backed up some of them into sets of daily bookmark backups. Once you have backed up your current set you could look at what it has by restoring those bookmarks, you may find one of those sets is fairly complete.
By the way if you look at the profile files and folders that you should now have on the desktop you should see it contains a bookmarks backup folder, the size of the files within should indicate whether they contain anything.
You need to go into the bookmarks library and try the restore option. Backup each set that you look at if it has anything of use in it, before trying the next set. With look one of those will be a fairly complete set of bookmarks.

I do not use Firefox on mobiles, but before you try anything further you do need to backup the desktop bookmarks and learn what existing backups you have. Unless you master that you are in continual danger of overwriting and loosing bookmarks.

Backup the media and other important files, being certain to backup the ENTIRE iTunes folder.
On the new computer, copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the backup to the new computer.

There is no good way for yur problem since iTunes sees the iPOd. Yu can ry removing and reinstalling all the Apple software using:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
However, I suspect a restor, first try from backup, is required.
