Syncing failures with iCloud

I run MS Outlook on my desk top and laptop.  I have an Iphone 3gs and an iPad2.  I have iCloud activated for contacts, notes and calendars.
There is no consistency in the transposing of items between devices.  For example, I have about 20 notes in my desktop - but they won't show at all on my laptop.  And the test note on my laptop won't show anywhere else.   And I do not have the full set replicated on my Apple devices.
Calendars?  Apart from a different format for listing calendars on the iPhone c.f. the iPad, syncing appointments is a hit an miss.  Some show, some don't. I don't mind duplicates, triplicates or quadrulicates but I would like all my appointments to sync.
Contacts - where do I start?   I set up iCloud on my new laptop - and wham!  over 2800 contacts - about half are not known to me.  Many are empty except for names.    I have edited the similar number down in my desk top to about 1800, over the months since IOS5 was downloaded.
Conceptually, the iCloud application makes sense - but if it is working correctly (and I have strong doubts) what am I doing wrong?
Oh yes - syncing the iPhone with the desktop displays coflicts - and every &^%&^* time, there is a dialogue message saying the conflict resolution server cannot be reached.  This has gone on ever since IOS5 - and even the Apple help desk didn't know what to do.
Will be pathetically grateful for constructive advice.
Thank you for reading.

  • IPad can't sync contacts with iCloud

I need some help....  I have an iMac running Mtn Lion (10.8.2) and an iPad3 (6.0.1) and I'm trying to sync the two in iCloud.  Contacts are giving me a headache.  I've got the contacts into iCloud so I went to iTunes, clicked on the iPad and went to "info".  Thought everything was OK but no contacts (actually there are a couple) on the IPad.  Went back to iTunes and clicked on the iPad. went to "info" and now there is no box to check next to "Sync Contacts" and the message in the box says  "Your contacts are being synced with you iPad over the air from iCloud" and "Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on your iPad."  My contacts are syncing (iPad) with iCloud and I can't figure out to get the check box back so I can choose to sync my contacts.  I know there are other threads out there with similar questions but I couldn't find anything that helped me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I have been having syncing issues with icloud notes, contacts, and now icloud email. Does anyone have suggestions?

Just recently, I have been unable to receive icloud email on my iphone and new ipad3. Although, I am a loyal apple consumer, I feel a bit let down. I am a PhD student and used my ipad/icloud email for downloading  and reading PDF journal  articles. My goal is to eventally buy a MacBook Pro and eliminate some of the syncing issues with icloud by storing my documents on the hard drive. I hope this will give me some relief from all the trouble I have had with icloud. Please share your suggestions.

Right now, there is an iCloud blackout.  Most people are having issues syncing Notes, Calenders, and Contacts between devices, emails aren't being sent, and Find My iPhone isn't working.

  • Help! Syncing iPad with iCloud after setting it to sync with iTunes

I bought my iPad yesterday and synced it with iTunes. Now I want to sync it with iCloud (I have my iPhone 4 backed up in iCloud). Do I need to restore my iPad?.

I don't actually play games on my iPad or phone but I believe that games need to work through the game centre for data to sync like that. Although its also technically possible for games to do it through document and data syncing in the iCloud system preferences, but I don't know if any games have taken advantage of the possibility yet.

I purchased a new iPhone and synced it with iCloud as well as my PC and all Outlook data.  I had old email saved in

can i sync ical with icloud? can i see ical meetings on icloud web page?

    Greetings,
Yes you can but you would do it using Blackberry's software: http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/

  • Contacts on my iphone does not sync properly with icloud.

Contacts on my iphone does not sync properly with icloud. I have merged data with facebook contacts, and this merged information appears as I want it to be on icloud.com. But on the iphone, the facebook contacts and the icloud contact appear separately.
I have tried exporting the contacts out of icloud.com, then deleting all contacts on both icloud.com and on the iphone; then importing the vcard back into icloud.com, but the facebook details still appear as a separate contact. It is too time consuming to merge all of my contacts manually What should I do in order for the iphone to display the contacts as it is on icloud.com?

Is there some sort of Facebook tag on the vCard?

  • Trying to sync iPhone with iCloud.. says too many devices.Remove one

What is the process to remove iOS devices from your iCloud.  Trying to sync iPhone with iCloud under the settings and it says too many devices.  Remove one.
    Thanks

I suspect the message is referring to you having too many devices associated with the Apple ID you are using for iCloud.  You can have a maximum of 10 devices associated with an Apple ID, 5 of which can be computers.  This article explains how to remove a device from your Apple ID: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627.

  • How to sync PC with iCloud after logging off?

OK - I made the horrendous mistake of logging off the iCloud a couple of days ago.  I was left with some of my contacts from the iCloud - not all.  My groups were there, but no "all inclusive" iCloud Contacts.  Also my iCloud calendar was gone. I still had my iPhone and iPad connected to the iCloud - no changes there.
When I went to log back on to the iCloud on my laptop, at first it started to copy my contacts - which were not complete (because of the ones in groups).  I cancelled the process.
I spent almost 2 hours last night at the Apple Store Genious Bar.  They really didn't know what to do as my laptop is Windows 7 - they only knew how to do things if everything was Apple.  The first guy had me delete the iCloud contact folders on my laptop.  Then he had me wipe my iPhone clean (why I don't know, as it had stayed with the iCloud the entire time, as did my iPad).  Then he sync'd the iCloud to my iPhone, then copied to iTunes.  I now have a mess on my iPhone as all the "personalized" touches I've done over the past year are gone.
Another employee came up and tried unsuccessfully to do anything.  A third one came up and logged into the iCloud on my laptop (through Firefox) and made a copy of the entire Contacts.  He then went into Outlook and tried to import them, but came up with a Windows error (no error number) saying it couldn't be done.
By then my laptop battery was very low, so I went home.  I still everything all the way I had it before on my iPad - Yeah!
Today I did a System Restore to my laptop - all my iCloud contacts are back the way they were before I messed with things. Yeah!  However, the calendar isn't back.  I went into Firefox to log on to the iCloud.com - id that - everything ok there, but how do I make it sync with Outlook in my laptop?  I did make a change to one of my contacts in the iCloud contacts in Outlook and clicked on the iCloud Refresh in Outlook (along the top ribbon) but this change did not show up on my iPhone or iPad.
What am I missing?  How do I put the iCloud back on my laptop?  I really would appreciate any help you could give me - the Annapolis Apple store - they just really don't know how to do things on a Windows laptop.
Please - help?  I would SO appreciate it!
    ElizaJane

Please - anyone have any ideas?  I click on the iCloud Refresh button in Outlook and a time or two I saw a message saying incorrect password.  This Refresh button is an Outlook Add In.  Anyone know how to delete it and put the correct iCloud add-in on it?  I'm SO frustrated - I really don't have any clue what to do.

  • Sync problems with iCloud + Exchange

Since 3-4 weeks the email/calendar synchronization with my iPhone's (3GS and 4S) and iPad 2 is nor working properly any more,
I have in parallel installed an iCloud account for private and an Exchange account for business use.
Only if I turn the iPhones/iPad off and on it syncs for one time. After that the email app always shows the turning wheel and "Receiving emails" and does nothing more at all.
As soon as I delete my iCloud account on the iPhone's/iPad the Exchange account works perfect again without any problems. As soon as I reinstall iCloud all email/calendar sync for Exchange and iCloud is dead again.
So there must be a problem with the iCloud sync which also affects the Exchange sync.
As long as I used my Exchange account together with Gmail I had no problems at all.
Hopefully Apple fixes this problem with iCloud within the next days otherwise I have to go to Google back again.
Any people out there with the same problem?

I have boiled the problem down to just the icloud contacts.  If I leave them off everything is fine when I turn them on my exchange accounts will not update.

  • Syncing issues with iCloud

My iPhone 4 syncs to iCloud perfectly however I cannot get my calendar to also sync to the ical on my desktop, the calendar only goes to the ical on iCloud. I would like my events to also appear on my macbook?

You need to be running OS X Lion (10.7.2 or later), and then enable calendar syncing with iCloud as described here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html.

  • Syncing Addresses with iCloud and an older iPod Touch

I've got my iMac set up to sync Address Book with iCloud.  I've also got a 2nd generation iPod Touch that cannot run iO5 so it cannot communicate with iCloud.
When I sync the iPod with the iMac if I don't turn off the "Sync Address Book Contacts" option in iTunes I get a bunch of duplicates on the iMac (and I've found that the "Look for Duplicates" command in Address Book doesn't find these duplicates).  It looks like I can choose the "All iCloud" group in Address Book and that will not show the duplicates, but is there any other way to eliminate duplicates and still sync with an older iPod Touch?

Your iPod Touch cannot access iCloud so you can only use iTunes; and as you have found this results in your Mac bringing in the contacts from both iCloud and the iPod and you get duplicates. I'm afraid there isn't any way of stopping this as such, unless you can live without syncing to iCloud.

  • Calendar is not syncing anymore with iCloud after update to iOS 8.1

I've recently update to IOS 8.1 on my iPhone 6 and the calendar is no longer syncing with iCloud.
Is there any solution to this issue?

same problem here... seems MY only solution that seems to work is to do a hard reboot of iphone and ipad... if I enter an event on ipad, it does not show up on iphone... if I do hard reboot on iphone AFTER entering the event on ipad, it then shows up on iphone... ughhh...

  • Can i sync documents with icloud

Can i sync my documents with Icloud?

iCloud does not provide a service like Dropbox where you can store any type of file.  You can store certain word processing files (Work and Pages) along with spreadsheets (Excel and Numbers).  Certain apps on a device also have the ability to store "their supported" files to iCloud, but again, iCloud is not like an external drive where you can store anything you like.  What types of "documents" are you wanting to sync?

  • Sync Blackberry with ICloud

    Hi,
I am using a Blackberry and an IPhone, and find it a real pain to sync contacts on both phones.
I update my contacts on ICloud by syncing the contacts on my MacBook with the Blackberry, and on ICloud , which then shows up the contacts on the IPhone.
As we all know, that using a 2 way sync between the Mac Book and the Blackberry many a times causes issues with the contacts, with old contact details (stored on the back) pop back on the Blackberry and erasing the new contacts, its quite a pain.
Someone suggested to sync the Blackberry directly with ICloud, which will then update and show all my contacts , including updated and new contacts at the same time on my MacBook and on the IPhone and vice versa.
I wish to know how I can do this.
I will also appreciate help if this can be done by any other way.
    Thanks.

    Well,
This is indeed quite tricky as explained above. Duplicates are very easily created either on BB and/or on Mac computer. You are right.
My "solution" was to force the sync in one direction only (from the Mac), using the BB desktop software. If my memory is correct, I achieved it by ticking one option somewhere saying "replace all records on the terminal" or something similar anyway. Now I can't remember exactly because I don't have a BB anymore...
So, I was always keeping my Mac up to date (even if it was sometimes duplicating what I had already done directly on the BB for example) and then I "forced" the replacement everytime I thought it was necessary to "sync" the BB with new items from the Mac.
I know this is far from an ideal solution, but at least, it worked out for me!
For sure, with this method, I was certain not to mess up my precious records on the Mac
    If this helps...
