Syncing ipad on home and work account

Hi there.
I'm hoping I can articulate this question so it's understandable... so here it goes.
My sister-in-law has received an ipad from her school for her teaching. They set up an account for her to purchase apps for her teaching. She also wants to be able to sync to her personal account so she can load music and other stuff. When she connects to her home account, it says it needs to erase the contents.
Is there anyway to "blend" the accounts so she can use both? I believe I've heard that Apple is looking into ways to combine ID's. Is this what I'm talking about?
Thanks for the help, and I'll try and clarify as need be.
Michael

No.
Ipad will sync itunes content with one and only one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.

  • Sync Mail between Home and work I-Macs....not working

    Hello:
I am not sure what is happening here..... I am running Mavricks on all the systmes below.
on My home network i have my I-mac, I-pad, Mac Pro and I-phone. All my e-mails show up for my accounts and when I delte an e-mail say, on my mac pro it will also delete it on my i-mac, i-pad etc..
However, i also have an I-mac at my office across town and I am signed in with my same id as my apple devices at home and all the acounts are the same. when I delete an e-mail mesage say on my i-phone, it wont delte it on my work computer. Is this because this type of feature only works if allt he computers are on the same network?
If so, thats kind of a pain becasue I my look at my work e-mail from home and delete 50 messages, then go back inot the office the next day and have to delete them again. Maybe I have something set up incorrectly?
Thank you in advance for your advice / help
    David

    Go to Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Mailbox Behaviour.
Make sure these 2 boxes are checked on all Macs.

  • Syncing iPad at home and at Work

I just got my new iPad and it's a dream!
My real iTunes I sync with is at home, where all the backups and media syncing ist done. I want to put my iPad to work in the office too, bringing along documents to meetings, making annotations. Since we're not allowed to use external file shares, drop boxes (security restrictions) I wonder if I can install another iTunes on my office PC and sync files this way. Is this possible or will it mix up my iPad?
    Thanks for your help!
PS: I know that questions like might have been answered already here, I just couldn't find them. Therefore sorry for any inconvenience!

Drop box is a good solution for you. You can put files into dropbox at the office with the office PC or your ipad and read them on your ipad and any other computer or device. You could also 'share' the files of your choosing with co-workers, etc.
I use it for sharing videos I make on my iphone4.
The first 2 GIG are free.
(And no, I am not associated with them in any way other than a happy customer.)

  • Connecting Home and Work PC

    Hi,
Ive had an iPod Mini for a while now, and im always hoping that with each new update, i will be able to sync both my home AND work PC.
My home pc is where I import CDs etc, but occasionally id like to manage my music from work as broadcast to my stereo, maybe even add a CD from work too.
    Is there a way?!!?!?
    Thanks in advance.
    Paul.

    Paul,
There are several ways you can achieve this. There are third party programs out there designed with just that in mind, to sync an ipod with 2 computers or two ipods with one. The one i have tested and know works is called ephPod. Google it and you'll easily find this.
A second way you can achieve the results is to set the iPod to not automatically update. Choose the computer you want to fully manage from and associate the ipod with that computer. Next, any songs you have on the other computer can be dragged and dropped onto the iPod through iTunes. Just hook up the iPod to the second computer, but don't let it update. You will see the iPod through iTunes and this will work.
    Hopefully this helps.

  • Select between home and work addresses for Autofill

I've searched and browsed for this and I think I know the answer but I want to check before I submit a feature request to Apple and give up for now:
Can we choose between home and work addresses on our contact card when we have Safari perform autofills?
I think the answer is no, that only the first address listed in our contact card is used.
It would be most useful to be able to select the address used. Many of us have our contacts synced now between home and work computers and some of us are allowed to do occassional home business on work computers, or use our home computers for work.
I experimented with an alternative. I set up two contacts for myself, a home contact and a work contact. They both use my name. I find that in the Contacts app I can select which card is "my card", and that will be used by autofill. But I have to open Contacts to switch "my card" to use that for autofill. It would be more useful if Safari would simply provide a way to switch between home and work contact info on the fly, or at least switch between cards.
    Am I missing anything?

Thanks, fruhulda. I do have both my work and home address on my card in
Address Book, and I agree that I should be able to choose which to use to fill in fields on a fax form. My question is how do I do that. I want to send a fax; I want it to feature my home information, but it's the work information that's automatically filling in. How do I change that?

  • Sync Calendars like "Calendar", "Home", and "Work" with Google Calendar

When I go into the iCal program on my mac, I have three calendars that I assume iCloud/iCal creates automatically for you. The ones that are showing up for me include: "Calendar", "Home", and "Work". All of these three calendars are under the iCloud subheading. Under the Gmail subheading, I have my google calendar. I would like to be able to sync these three iCloud calendars with my google calendar, as when I create a new event in iCal, it does not show up in Google Calendar. How can I make this happen? Also, when I create an event from Google Calendar, it shows up on iCal and all of my iOS devices, however, it does not show up in iCloud.com's calendar. Why is this, and how can I fix it?

You can't.  That's not how it works.
In the iCal app, indiviudal calendars exist either locally on you Mac or in the "cloud" on a server like iCloud, Google, Yahoo!, Exchange etc.
Logging on to your iCloud account at icloud.com will only gain you access to your iCloud calendars much as logging on your Google Calendars account will only gain you access to your Google calendars.

My Ipad did work on my wireless at home and works on other wireless but no longer at home. My IPhone works at home and others can use the wireless> Confused that it did work and now does not?

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

  • How do i have CC on home and work computer with same account?

How do i have CC on home and work computer with same account?

    Hi Markofm,
You may install software on up to two computers. These two computers can be Windows, Mac OS, or one each.
If you install on a third computer, it will request you to De-activate on the other two computers.  You can then reactivate one of the previous two computers, and use Creative Cloud apps on it.
If you regularly need to use the Creative Cloud on more than two computers then it would be best to purchase an additional subscription.  This is the same licensing between which we have for our perpetual product.  An advantage though for Creative Cloud over the perpetual product is that you can install on Mac and Windows with the same subscription!
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Can i sync using 2 itunes ... home and work

can i sync using 2 itunes ... home and work .. i want my tunes from home and my calender and contacts from work. i used to use itunes at home and i sync at work ... but cant get the isync to work with the iphone and the imac24 i use ??

I had this same problem. You have to set up the check boxes on each computer of what you want to sync. On your home computer, have it sync a play list that you dedicate to the iPhone. Then at work have it sync everything else. Assuming you activated on your home computer this will work perfectly. If you activated on the computer that you don't sync music from, then it will ask you to erase the original sync and start on this other computer (your home one). Just let it do it and it will be fine. Hope this helps.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if you can then send emails

  • Account "preferences" changing between home and work...

I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, but here goes...
On my MacBook I have only one user account (same as the administrator). At home, I connect to the Internet via Airport.
When I bring my notebook to work, I connect to the Internet via an ethernet connection. I do not have to login or any other maneuever to gain access to the Internet.
Everything works fine generally. One odd behavior I've noticed -- certain of my login items seem to disappear when I'm at work. Specifically, I have several Yahoo Widgets (Konfabulator) on my desktop. Only some launch when I'm at work. Also, it seems that certain changes to my desktop (wallpaper, location of icons, etc) change between home and work.
Any idea what might be causing this behavior? Thanks!

    Hi Flojo:
You will need a seperate "screen name" for each Mac in order to video chat. The nice thing is you can get another .Mac screen name by signing up for another .Mac account and and after the free trial, you can keep the .Mac screen name.
    OR
Just sign up for a free AIM screen name here: http://www.aim.com/
You don't need a paid .Mac account in order to video chat!

  • Home and Work Calendars missing from iCal

Help - i logged into iCal this morning and all my calendars had disappeared - apart from my Outlook calendar which i synced form my work pc using Mobile Me yesterday.
When i first set up Mobile me, i had all my calendars. Will i be able to get my Home and Work calendars back?

Thanks for the advice Ferd - on further investigation i suspect it was another programme - The Hit List - which i had set to sync with iCal that may have caused the issue. But the crisis has had a silver lining - i realised i was overcomplicating things anyway, and have now set up new calendars syncing only to my Sony W595 mobile phone
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Getting Siri to understand home and work outside the USA

I've just written this up in my blog
You've told Siri which contact is you. You ask Siri "Remind me to talk to Michael when I arrive at work" but it just replies telling you that it doesn't know where your office is - but you've got an entry in the address book for "work"!
It's probably iCloud and Mac OS X working against you.
Address Book on OS X supports multiple address formats - some of which looks very much like the location you're in and you may not have changed them.
To persuade Siri to understand you need to change the address format - locate the contact in Address Book and click edit. Click the label on the offending address and a context menu will appear - at the bottom there's a sub-menu which allows you to change the address format. Choose the appropriate one and click Done.
Now, once iCloud has synced which doesn't take long, Siri will beable to set reminders for home and work without problems.

I too had the same problems as everyone else on here but I've sussed it out how to do it. Go on google maps on your phone and find your home or work etc on the map. Now on your home press your finger on the screen and it drops a pin with a blue arrow.
    Click on the blue arrow
    click on add to contacts
click on add to existing contact
find your own contact details and click on it
your details open up with the address you dropped the pin on now in your address field.
click on edit at the top right hand side of the screen
now scroll down to the address and click on the address description at the side of the listed address and select either home, work other or add custom label.
The custom label is good for anything else you need to name. I have all our branches now listed under say, wolverhampton brach, telford branch etc. This way I can get siri to remind me where ever I want to go such as " remind me to get my tools back when i get to the "wolverhampton branch". Works 100% every time this way.
Hope this helps you guys out.

  • I've set my home and work location in contacts but siri still doesn't pick up either?

I've set my home and work location in contacts but siri still doesn't pick up either?

Call mum and dad are in the contact of yourself.
You have to manually add it back or if you have contacts in your computer addressbook, you can sync them back.
