Syntax error in Java persistence language

I wrote this simple program to use Java Persistence Query
public static void main(String[] args) {
test test = new test();
EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("SVGTopLink");
EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager();
String sql_text = "SELECT NEW " +
"joinBasicShapes(c.chartName,c.height,c.width,sh.idShape,sh.points,sh.r1,sh.rx,sh.ry,sh.typeName,sh.widthR,sh.x1,sh.x2,sh.y1,sh.y2) "+
"FROM SvgCharts c JOIN BasicShapes sh ON c.id_chart=sh.id_chart WHERE c.id_chart = 1";
Query query = em.createQuery(sql_text);
List lista = query.getResultList();
Iterator it = lista.iterator();
for(int i=0;it.hasNext();it.next()) {
System.out.println("---");
em.close();
emf.close();
But EntityManager doesn't like the query. Do you have any ideea?

Can you tel me what means DOT - this is what is supposed to wait - in from clause eg FROM SvgCharts c JOIN BasicShapes sh .
Many thanks,
Aurel

I have these entities ,
public class SvgCharts implements Serializable {
@Id
@Column(name="ID_CHART", nullable = false)
private Long idChart;
@OneToMany(mappedBy = "svgCharts")
private List<BasicShapes> basicShapesList;
public class BasicShapes implements Serializable {
@ManyToOne
@JoinColumn(name = "ID_CHART", referencedColumnName = "ID_CHART")
private SvgCharts svgCharts;
ID_CHART is the PK in svgCharts and FK in basicShapes
I have write this code
String sql_text = "SELECT o FROM SvgCharts charts JOIN charts.ID_CHART shapes WHERE charts.ID_CHART = 1";
Query query = em.createQuery(sql_text);
List lista = query.getResultList();
But I get the following error ;
Exception Description: Error compiling the query [SELECT o FROM SvgCharts charts JOIN charts.ID_CHART shapes WHERE charts.ID_CHART = 1], line 1, column 44: unknown state or association field [ID_CHART] of class [svgtoplink3.SvgCharts].
What do you think? I use JDeveloper 11TP4 for this
Thans in advance,
Aurel

    Hi all,
    I am able to INSERT and SELECT records from FoxPRo database successfully.
    The driver is Sun JDBC-ODBC bridge
    The DELETE statement throws no exception.
    I've tried to execute PACK after the DELETE call and got following exception:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Visual FoxPro Driver]File must be opened exclusively.So I tried USE MYTABLE EXCLUSIVE in a Statement before calling PACK and got the exception:

    - Deleted (checked)

  • When I am on facebook I continually get a syntax error message which keeps coming back. I have checked my settings and enabled java script but doesnt help.

    I can access my facebook account with no trouble, but once facebook is loaded I repeatedly get an error message; syntax error. The words 'Java Script application' are in the bar across the top of the message. It comes up many times and completely disrupts what I am doing. I am wondering if ot has something to do with the adverts in the side bar of each page that I open in facebook. If I open FB from Google Chrome I don't get that problem, or in Explorer, but I would rather use Firefox. Help would be apprecitaed, please. Thanks.

    hello, first of all please [https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/update/ update firefox to the latest version]. the errors you're getting are likely coming from the socialfixer addon that you've installed - there's also an updated version of the extension available which fixes these kind of issues: http://socialfixer.com/blog/category/releasenotes/

    I have a solution without DOM parser. The XML code is seen as a sting and the code looks for a specific tag. In my case it is OUTPUT, you can adjust the code to your tag.
    String content = "";
    MappingTrace importanttrace;
    importanttrace = container.getTrace();
    // filling the string with our RFC-XML (with values)
    String m = "<rfc:ZZSG_TEST_XSLT_LOOKUP xmlns:rfc="urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions">"
                                + "<INPUT>" + request + "</INPUT></rfc:ZZSG_TEST_XSLT_LOOKUP>";
    RfcAccessor accessor = null;
    ByteArrayOutputStream out = null;
    try
    // 1. Determine a channel (Business system, Communication channel)
    Channel channel = LookupService.getChannel("Airline_Group_Two","RFC");
    // 2. Get a RFC accessor for a channel.
    accessor = LookupService.getRfcAccessor(channel);
    // 3. Create a xml input stream representing the function module request message.
    InputStream inputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(m.getBytes());
    // 4. Create xml payload
    XmlPayload payload = LookupService.getXmlPayload(inputStream);
    // 5. Execute lookup.
    Payload result = accessor.call(payload);
    InputStream in = result.getContent();
    out = new ByteArrayOutputStream(1024);
    byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
    for (int read = in.read(buffer); read > 0; read = in.read(buffer)) {
    out.write(buffer, 0, read);
    content = out.toString();
    catch(LookupException e)
    importanttrace.addWarning("Error while lookup " + e.getMessage() );
    catch(IOException e)
    importanttrace.addWarning("Error " + e.getMessage() );
    finally
    if (out!=null) {
    try {
    out.close();
    } catch (IOException e) {

    // 7. close the accessor in order to free resources.

  • AVG calculation and syntax error while parsing a named query

    Hi all,
    I've to calcolate the average of polling results for each value column (5 value column in total). I want to use this single row result line for a bar graph.
    I created a new named query in the EJB:
    @NamedQueries({
      @NamedQuery(name = "Polls.findAll", query = "select o from Polls o"),
      @NamedQuery(name = "Polls.findAVG", query = "select o AVG(Value1) as Value1, AVG(Value2)  as Value2, AVG(Value3)  as Value3, AVG(Value4)  as Value4, AVG(Value5)  as Value5 o from Polls o")   // <-- my named query
    ...I tried it in the sql query tool of Oracle 10g XE and sql syntax is ok, but when I run my javaServiceFacade on JDev I receive this message:
    Exception in thread "main" Local Exception Stack:

    ...Where is the syntax error in my named query?
    Edited by: Silicio on 22-nov-2008 1.05

    Thanks Shay, now I think syntax is correct for gain an average for each column:
    @NamedQuery(name = "Polls.findAVG", query = "select AVG(o.value1), AVG(o.value2), AVG(o.value3), AVG(o.value4), AVG(o.value5) from Polls o")But still got some trouble to get a bar graph...
    If I drag&drop that query from data control, I get an empty graph with 5 values ,look http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8710/emptygraphag7.png .
    In the log there is some errors (due that named query and its methods in EJB):

  • Syntax error on token

    Hi, I am new to Java. I am getting a compiler error I am not able to resolve the error. Can somebody Please meout? Below is the error that I am getting.
    Syntax error on token "LinkedList", "interface", "class" expected.
    Below is the code snippet on which I am getting this error.
    public LinkedList getPolicyBaseRecordByPriorId(BigDecimal priorPolicyId) throws TFGSessionException {

    To put it another way:
    Your method definitions have to appear inside of classes. Unlike many other languages, Java does not allow for free-standing functions like that.

  • Syntax errors in Oracle Business Rules carrental ruleset

    Hi,
    I'm using Oracle Business Rules Rule Author on Windows, version 10.1.3.0.0.
    I'm working with the OTN carrental sample. If i load the supplied file-based repository CarRepository from the %HOWTO_HOME%/dict directory, navigate to the RL tab -> Generate RL-code and select the 'Check RL-Syntax' button I always get the same error message:
    Error:'5}' is undefined at line ... column ... in [DM or vehicleRent]
    If I navigate to 'Test Rulesets' i get the same error, no matter what testfunction i use with the vehicleRent ruleset.
    When i test the sample with the supplied java code i don't get any errors.
    However, if I follow the steps in chapter 2 (javaFact) or 4 (XMLFact) of the Business Rules user guide and setup everything from scratch for a filebased repository i get the same error at runtime.
    I based the filebased repository on the supplied emptyrepository file.
    Seems to make no difference whether I use a filebased or a webdav repository.
    any help on this would be appreciated.
    Rob

    There are two problems here. First, there is a bug that causes this error string to be displayed incorrectly when using the RuleAuthor in any browser language other than English. If you change the browser language to English, you should see:
    <p>
    A syntax error is found. <br>
    Error:'carrental.Driver' is undefined at line 4 column 14 in DM
    <p>
    The cause of this problem is that carrental.Driver class is not in the classpath for Rule Author. This isn't covered in the how-to. See section 3.10 in the Oracle® Business Rules User’s Guide (B15986-01) (available from here).
    <p>
    From this doc:
    <p>
    Create a rule set you want to test. If the data model includes any Java classes, the
    Java classes must be included in the OC4J classpath. The easiest way to do this is
    to put the JAR files in the following directory, then restart OC4J:
    $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/applications/ruleauthor/lib
    <p>
    or add it as a shared library using EM (specific instructions follow in the doc) and then add that shared library to RuleAuthor.

    You can try to use the xml form of tag use bean and not <% like this:
    <jsp:useBean id="sampl" class="beancode" scope="page" />
    <jsp:setProperty name="sampl"; property="*" />
    and in the class attribute specify the fully qualified class name without the extension

    hmmm what was the usecase ...
    was it after deployment, or just after new installation? this looks like a defect on loading side .. other axis stuff running around?
    at least it's good to hear that you are up & running now :-)

  • Can not use SUM in a simple query because of a syntax error?

    Hi
    Thank you for reading my post.
    I am trying to execute the following query:
    q = em.createQuery("SELECT SUM((NE.pipeLength - 0.6)+((NE.networkDepth-NE.initialDepth)*0.41)+ NE.standLenght)  FROM NExpansion NE  where (( NE.contract.contractor=:contractor) AND (NE.pDiameter=:diameter))");
                  q.setParameter("contractor", contractor);
    q.setParameter("diameter", diameter);
         l =  (Long) q.getSingleResult();And I get the following error:

    Hello,
    From the grammar in the JPA spec, SUM only takes a state_field_path_expression which is defined as
    state_field_path_expression := {identification_variable | single_valued_association_path_expression}.state_field
    Please feel free to file an enhancement to have this expanded upon.
    Best Regards,
    Chris
