SYNTAX FOR A DIAL % FLASH CHART

Hello everybody,
I am using one of those dial % charts. The query could not be simpler, as it just selects the average of the values of a column and displays that as the %
select avg(double_check), 100 from storedetails
(this 100 here is part of the required syntax that asks for the maximum value)
Now, I would like that in that dial chart there is a subrange, a triangular piece of the pie that ranks from a low limit to a high limit value. Say, 70% and 90% So values under 70% are poor, and values above 90% are ok
That is what I thought that would mean the LOW, and HIGH values, but as I try to include that in the syntax, then I get the parsing errors.
select avg(double_check), 100 [,70[,90]] from storedetails this will not work. How can I get those subvalues 70 and 90 included within the semicircunference which is the dial chart?
thank you very much
Alvaro

Hi Alvaro,
did you write your query without '\[' and '\]' brackets? I created an example chart which works with this select select 20,50,10,40 from dualYou can see it here

Jure

  • Create a link for a Dial (Percent) chart to allow drill down

    Hi,
    I have a page with a number of 'Dial (Percent)' charts displayed. This acts as a dashboard to show pass/fail percentages for a number of data tests. I would like to be able to click on the dial and drill down to a report detailing the failing records.
    As far as I can tell, the query syntax ofr a dial chart does not allow the definition of links. My quesry is therefore:
    select sum(case when fail_pass = 'PASS' THEN 1 else 0 end)    value,
             count(*)                                                                  max_value,
             0                                                                             low_value,
             sum(case when fail_pass = 'PASS' THEN 1 else 0 end)    high_value
    from
             au_test1_vDoes anyone know how I can add a link to this chart?
    Thanks,

    Hi Martin,
    Ahh that's a pity, 'cos the Action Link option was only added with APEX 4.0. With the Flash 3 dial chart, as supported in APEX 3.2.1, there's no support to add a link to the pointer of the chart. I'm not sure if this would work in your case, but if you really want a link on your dial chart, then you could try including the link within the Region Source of your chart, as suggested in this related thread:Re: Flash Chart: Dial Chart to open popup webpage :
    To link from a Dial Chart, simply open the Region Definition page. In the Region Source place an anchor tag around the <object> tags as follows:
    <a href="http://www.oracle.com" target="_self">
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
         codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0"
         width="#WIDTH#"
         height="#HEIGHT#"
    </embed>
    </object>
    #CHART_REFRESH#
    </a>So the link would be applied to the whole region as opposed to just the dial pointer. Again, I'm not sure if this workaround will do the trick for you, but unforunately I don't know of any other way to achieve this with the AnyChart 3 dial chart. Maybe it's a good enough reason to upgrade to our latest release? :-)

  • Use flash charts from multiple base URLs

    My APEX apps are hosted by a shared service provider who uses a front end proxy. Following the instructions in this forum, I was able to get flash charts to work by substituting my client URL for #HOST#.
    Example, Change:
    <embed src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#flashchart/
    #CHART_TYPE#.swf?XMLFile=#HOST#apex_util.flash?p=&APP_ID.:5:&APP_SESSION.:FL
    OW_FLASH_CHART_R#REGION_ID#"
    to
    <embed src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#flashchart/#CHART_TYPE#.swf?XMLFile=
    http://mydomain.hostingcompany.com/pls/apex/apex_util.flash?p=&APP_ID.:5:&APP
    _SESSION.:FLOW_FLASH_CHART_R#REGION_ID# "
    I changed this base url in multiple locations in the chart source code and the charts now work.
    THE PROBLEM
    Users access the site via a public domain http://www.xyz.com. In order to get the charts to work I then need to change #HOST# to http://www.xyz.com/pls/apex. Then they no longer work when accessing via http://mydomain.hostingcompany.com/pls/apex.
    Is there some way to get the charts to work irrespective of which path users take to get to the site?
    ANOTHER PROBLEM
    Though the above fix works for stand alone flash charts it does not work for the charts in interactive reports or the sample charts displayed when using the chart builder wizard in the application builder.
    Is there somewhere to change in order to get the sample charts in the create chart wizard in application builder and/or the charts in interactive reports?

    Hello,
    Take a look at this thread -

  • Date Picker Result Used in Query for Flash Chart

    Hello,
    I'm creating a flash chart using an SQL Query. The query uses two date pickers for the beginning and ending date of the data the query returns. For some reason the substitution string for the data pickers do not work and do not return any data. If I hard wire the start and end date to something like '12/01/2008' and '01/31/2009' the query and the flash chart work just fine. When use the string representing the data pickers (:P65_BEGIN_DATE and :P65_END_DATE) the query does not return any data. Is there some problem using substitution strings in queries for flash charts??
    For what it's worth here is the query. (Look near the bottom to see where I reference the data pickers):
    SELECT 'Link',
    to_char(Day, 'Mon DD'),
    ((Count("Item Number")-Sum("Devaition"))/Count("Item Number"))*100 as "Precentage"
    from
    (SELECT
    to_date(concat(substr(F4140.PICSDJ, 1, length(F4140.PICSDJ)-3)+1900,
    substr(F4140.PICSDJ, length(F4140.PICSDJ)-2,3)), 'yyyyddd') as Day,
    F4141.PJLITM AS "Item Number",
    sum(F4141.PJTQOH) AS "Sum Qty On Hand",
    sum(F4141.PJTQCT) AS "Sum Qty Counted",
    (decode(sum(F4141.PJTQOH)-sum(F4141.PJTQCT), 0, 0, 1)) as "Devaition"
    FROM F4140 INNER JOIN F4141 ON F4140.PICYNO = F4141.PJCYNO
    WHERE (((F4140.PICYCS) In ('40','50')) AND ((F4141.PJCCCD)='1'))
    GROUP BY to_date(concat(substr(F4140.PICSDJ, 1, length(F4140.PICSDJ)-3)+1900,
    substr(F4140.PICSDJ, length(F4140.PICSDJ)-2,3)), 'yyyyddd'), F4141.PJLITM
    HAVING to_date(concat(substr(F4140.PICSDJ, 1, length(F4140.PICSDJ)-3)+1900,
    substr(F4140.PICSDJ, length(F4140.PICSDJ)-2,3)), 'yyyyddd')
    between to_date(:P65_BEGIN_DATE, 'DD-Mon-YYYY') and to_date(:P65_END_DATE, 'DD-Mon-YYYY') )
    group by Day

    I look at the debug output without changing anything and I am not really sure where the two date pickers are being populated. However I do have defaults set up for each datepicker of:
    P65_BEGIN_DATE: to_char(sysdate - 30, 'DD-MON-YYYY')
    P65_END_DATE: to_char(sysdate, 'DD-MON-YYYY')
    and the dates I would expect show up in the date picker.
    Also I created a Computation of Before Header type with the following PL/SQL expression:
    to_char(sysdate-180, 'DD-MON-YYYY')
    and I see the following output when in debug mode:
    0.05: Computation point: BEFORE_HEADER
    0.05: ...Perform computation of item: P65_BEGIN_DATE, type=PLSQL_EXPRESSION
    0.05: ...Session State: Save "P65_BEGIN_DATE" - saving same value: "03-AUG-2008"
    0.05: Processing point: BEFORE_HEADER
    So I think the datapickers are being populated but the flash chart is still not working.

  • Changing the custom XML for a flash chart dynamically

    Hello
    I am wondering if anyone has found a way to change the custom XML
    for a flash chart dynamically.
    For instance.
    On the www.anychart.com website their is a gallery with charts.
    I have studied one called "2Dlinetimechart. It has hours on the X-axis.
    When I view the XML for this chart.
    I found this enrty
    - <block color="0x0080C0" border_color="0x0080C0" name="Sales dept.">
    <set value="0" argument="0" name="00:00" />
    <set value="1" argument="0" name="01:00" />
    It uses the tag value to set the position on the X-axis. But the tag name to set the labels on the X-axis.
    I have not found a way to do this in application express 3.0.
    Therefore I wonder if I can change to XML dynamically, and build my own block based on the input I have.
    Or even build a chart, based on a xml that I create first then sends to the object that renders the chart.
    Hope this makes sence ?
    Ulf
    PS this is related to my question about
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1887210?
    using dates on the x-axis.
    But would by nice to know a general method to rebuild the xml-file dynamically so I can change the chart within the limits of the xml-definition.

    String value = ResultSet.getObject("myfield").toString();
    String opvalue = "15";
    <OPTION Value=15 <%=((opvalue.equals(value))?"selected":"")%>>

  • Line thickness in Apex 4.02 flash chart for Legend

    Does anyone know how to set Line thickness in Apex 4.02 flash chart for Legend?
    My users can read the label fine, but the part where it shows the line color is very small and hard to match to the chart.

    Many attributes can be set in the Chart Attributes page Custom XML section. Line thinkness. Legend font size, height and width. But I haven't found a setting for the "icon" size. Even thought I increased font size and the size of the Legend on the page, the legend "lines" remained unchanged in size.

  • Chart type for Flash Chart

    Hello everybody,
    I'm trying to evaluate whether it's possible to use APEX for an application that I'm going to develop.
    Therein I want to use several charts for displaying database content.
    One of the charts I need is a combination of stacked charts with lines, but I can't find this type of chart in the "native" APEX-chart-collection. Is there anything available I missed at first sight?
    Thanks in advance

    Michael,
    That is a limitation of APEX default charts which cannot combine types. However, the post by Dimitri Gielis might on [Anychart 5 integration kit for APEX|http://dgielis.blogspot.com/2008/11/anychart-5-integration-kit-for-apex.html] might be what you're looking for. This commercial version of AnyChart can do a lot of things including the combination of types you're looking for. BTW, the free flash chart in APEX is based on an older version of AnyChart.

  • Pagination for the flash chart

    Hi,
    I have a apex application where in one page I display certain value (in tabular format) based on few criteria and also in the same page for the same criteria I have a flash chart which should show the same values (as that of the tabular format) in chart. Now the tabular format is a separate region and the flash chart is another separate region. The tabular values are shown in multiple pages if the number of rows returned are more certain value (say 15). I want the flash chart to follow the same pagination logic as that of the tabular records but unable to figure out how i can achieve the same.
    Please help.

  • Setting the parameters for flash charts

    Hi friends,
    I am having a flash chart in one of my pages and the chart series is of type "Function returning the SQL query". the query is having some parameters like :P23_VARIABLE_NAME. The values of the variable is not getting passed on page load but the values will be passed only when we submit the form. The :P23_VARIABLE_NAME is a variable assigned to a list.
    Could you please let me know how to pass the value to the flash chart the data. The variable values are passed on page load for some other charts which are on the page.
    Regards,
    Pradeep

    That was helpful information. I verified the session status for the page items and saw that when the page loads the session status is blank and when we submit the form the status changes to I with the corresponding values that I entered.
    How can i set a default value for a page item so that when the page loads for the first time, The session status will be I and there is a default value for the page item.
    One more observations is that even the session status is blank how is the apex reports fetching the data based on the variable and the chart is not able to fetch the data.
    Could you provide some more light on the above two questions.

  • Flash chart with dynamic sql query does not display

    Hi,
    In my schema SIVOA I have a lot of tables declared like this :
      CREATE TABLE "SIVOA"."EVV_xxxx"
       (     "CLEF_VAR" NUMBER(4,0),
         "DATE1" DATE,
         "VALEUR" NUMBER(16,8) Only the last part of the name changes "xxxx". For example E009, E019, etc....
    I am making a chart page with report and want the user to select a name of a table and I will display using dynamic sql query, the table report and chart.
    P184_ENAME is a select list returning the last part of the name of the table, fro example 'E009', 'E019', etc.
    P8_CLEF_VAR is an item containing a value. This value is a key retrieved like this :SELECT CLEF_VAR
    FROM SIVOA.SITE_ECHELLE
    WHERE SITE = :P184_ENAMEI built a classic report using a sql dynamic function :DECLARE
    x VARCHAR2 (4000);
    BEGIN
    x := 'SELECT NULL, DATE1, VALEUR FROM SIVOA.EVV_'
    || UPPER(:p184_ename)
    || ' WHERE CLEF_VAR = :p8_clef_var' ;
    RETURN (x);
    END;:p8_clef_var is an itme containing the value '4544'.
    This works perfectly fine !
    When I use this sql fucytion into a flash chart it does not work. I get this message "No data found".
    I do not understand why a the report get a result and not the chart !
    But if i hard-code the number of the CLEF_VAR instead of fetching it from :p8_clef_var I get a nice chart ! Go figure !DECLARE
    x VARCHAR2 (4000);
    BEGIN
    x := 'SELECT NULL, DATE1, VALEUR FROM SIVOA.EVV_'
    || UPPER(:p184_ename)
    || ' WHERE CLEF_VAR = 4544 ' ;
    RETURN (x);
    I cannot stay with the key (CLEF_VAR) hard-coded unformtunately !
    My question is how to get the chart displaying properly ??
    Thank you for your kind answers.

    Alex,
    Using your request, with the classic report I get results (data), but I get the same message with the Flash chart : "No data found" ! I don't know how to investigate this. i tried many things but nothing works.
    Christian
    PS I tried this :
    DECLARE
       X   VARCHAR2 (4000);
    BEGIN
    x := 'SELECT NULL, DATE1, ROUND(VALEUR,2) FROM SIVOA.EVV_'
          || UPPER (:p184_ename) ||
          ' WHERE CLEF_VAR = '
          || :p8_clef_var ||
          ' AND DATE1 BETWEEN TO_DATE ('''
    ||:P8_DATE_DEBUT||''', ''DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI'') AND TO_DATE ('''
    ||:P8_DATE_FIN||''', ''DD/MM/YYYY HH24:MI'')'
    RETURN (X);
    END; But it does not work either. I could find that the SLQ syntax generated is good becaus I put it into an item which display the return done by the pls/sql.
    What is sttange also with the classic report is that if I do click on next or previous to see another rows, I get the message "No data found". If I try to export the report I get an excel file with "No data fouid".
    Does anybody already tried my "need" here ? i find strange thant I should not be the firs one trying to get a report an tables which name would be "dynamic".
    Tahnk you.

    Any ideas ?

    Hi Mike,
    In response to your question:
    Will this patch also fix a problem with multiple series scatter chart showing no data when some of the series return no data?
    The patch that Dimitri has referred to only contains a fix for the APEX 4.0 asynchronous chart update issue with Flash 5 charts. This patch has also been incorporated into our 4.0.1 patch release. Can you please elaborate on the "problem with multiple series scatter chart" that you've referred to? If you could also provide a testcase on http://apex.oracle.com, I'd be happy to take a look.

  • Flash Chart Legend

    I have built a 2D Line Flash chart with 6 series. My problem is that the legend shows the word "Value". Does anyone know how to make the legend display the series name instead.
    Jeff

    Varad,
    Thank you for your reply but your answer does not appear to be the solution I need. This SQL statement below used in a SVG Chart yields a legend using the series name. The same SQL statemnet used in a Flash Chart yields "Value" as the series name. Why?
    <pre>
    SELECT NULL link,
    to_char (minipay_detail_vw.event_dt, 'YYYY, MM') AS label,
    sum (minipay_detail_vw.contract_pay_amt) AS value

    AND financial_organization_cd IN

  • Flash Chart Legend Not In Capitals

    I have created a flash chart based upon a function returning sql. The chart displays fine but the legend column names for some reason are converted to initial capitals from all originally being in capitals, eg "SERIES" now equals "Series". I really need the legend to display all capitals as it is in the sql.
    For example:
    The function returns a string similar to this .......
    select NULL as "LINK",
    WEEK as "LABEL",
    VALUE1 as "VALUE1,
    VALUE2 as "VALUE2"
    from MY_TABLE
    order by WEEK
    When the flash chart is rendered on the page the legend displays the two series values as "Value1" and "Value2". Somehow the chart ignores the capital case of the column names and applies initial capitals only over riding the original case.
    There appears to be no over ride for the legend case so where is it coming from ? It shouldn't make any difference but the chart type is a "3D column" style. Not sure if this is a XML question or maybe a Flash Player issue.
    Regards,
    Jack.

    I had the same problem.
    To fix it:
    1. Find a font that is strictly caps. I used Felix Titling.
    2. Edit the flash chart & under the chart attributes set USe Custom XML to yes.
    3. Scroll down almost to the bottom and find the legend tag.
    4. In the font tag for the legend substitute the font you chose.
    This will capitalize ALL the letters in the legend.
    I don't know how to selectively capitalize letters.
