System call, line continuation issue

Hello,
I used Java system call on a linux script as below:
Runtime.getRuntime().exec(myScript.bsh);
Where myScript.bsh is a bash script file. While the bash script file was executed, the issue is that some scripts in the file were skipped during exectution when there is a line continuation symbol. e.g.
runCommandLine arg1 \
arg2 \
arg3
The above command in myScript.bsh will not be executed. However, it will be executed successfully if I put the above command in one single line without the use of line continuation.
I would appreciate any insights on how to get the script run with line continuation.

Thank you very much. It works!
While the line continuation works, another problem comes up:
/bin/more: /bin/more: cannot execute binary file
when below line is executed:
more $1 | grep run_range_modulator | sed s/-s1/-p$theta/g > tmp
I would appreciate the help. This sounds like a *nix problem instead of a Java problem.
Confirm that you can execute the command directly in a terminal window.
You may have to wrap the call in a shell.

    Hire Me.
    Hello Poster.
    I am having the same issue, however it is most likely NOT a host box problem. The above advice is not a fix. I have 3 servers that are cloned with the same setup. 2 were fixed by doing the Vista compatibility trick, this one gave a different error (which
    happened to be the same as above). This org was a 5.5 to 2000. to 2003 coexistence with 2007 currently(because the mailbox role won't install). It has something to do with AD or permissions. Server 2008 r2 inherently has problems installing exchange.
    Example, having to use vista compatibility to get the mailbox role to install. SP2 patch gives the same error to some people, and also doesn't upgrade the mailbox role properly in some cases. Some people have had luck restarting the IIS admin service, but
    that did not solve my copy of this error. I will repost here if I find a solution to this issue...
    Same exact setup log for me as well.

  • Reading output of a system call

    Hi,
    It appears that java system call does not return a value in Netware OS.
    The same code functions flawlessly on other OS'es, eg. linux and windows.
    If the following code is run on a Netware (6.5), the following error is
    returned:
    External App Returned:
    java.io.IOException: Bad file number
    Does anyone knows how to receive the values from the system call on Netware?
    To reproduce the problem, do the following:
    1) save the included source code to netware server's sys:java/classes
    with a filename ExecuteExternalApp.java
    2) compile it issuing a console command:
    javac sys:java/classes/ExecuteExternalApp.java
    3) execute the application:
    java ExecuteExternalApp volumes
    This should successfully launch the system command "volumes" but also
    would give an error message:
    External App Returned:
    java.io.IOException: Bad file number
    ---- Source code
    import java.io.*;
    public class ExecuteExternalApp{
    public static String executeSystemCommand(String command) throws
    Exception {
    String ret = "";

    Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);

    BufferedReader err = new BufferedReader(new

    //InputStreamReader iar = new

    //while ((line = input.readLine()) != null)
    //testi tuleeko yksi rivi
    line = input.readLine();
    sb.append(line);
    input.close();
    ret = sb.toString();
    catch (Exception err)
    ret = err.toString();
    return ret;
    public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
    if (args.length > 0){
    String output = executeSystemCommand(args[0]);
    System.out.println("External App Returned:");
    System.out.println(output);
    else
    System.out.println("Usage: ExecuteExternalApp <command>");

    Hi Gnter,
    Thank you for your excellent help. I started to play with the _ADMIN
    -volume today. I was amazed to see how much can be done with it. I got
    my little cluster watch application almost working in just 1 hour, but
    then spent the rest of the day trying to get it fully functional ;-) I
    still cannot figure out what is wrong with my code, so I was wondering
    if I could get any help from this newsgroup.
    I'm able to read the *.xml files and determine the cluster state and all
    the information I need. However I dont seem to be able to write the
    command files. I'm trying the following:
    public void offlineClusterResource(String resourceName) {
    String fileName = "_ADMIN:/Novell/cluster/Resource.cmd";
    //String logFile = "sys:java/classes/ClusterWorker.log";
    String commandLine = "<virtualIO><datastream
    name=\"command\"></virtualIO>"+
    "<ncsRequest><offline>" +
    "<resource>" + resourceName + "</resource>" +
    "</offline></ncsRequest>";
    //Log("Turning the cluster resource " + resourceName + "
    offline!!!", logFile);
    try {
    //PrintWriter in autoFlush mode
    PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(fileName,
    false), false);
    pw.println(commandLine);
    pw.close();
    } catch (IOException e) {
    System.out.println("Unable to write " + fileName);
    It seems not to write anything to _ADMIN:/Novell/cluster/Resource.cmd.
    If I set the file to be eg. SYS:/tmp/Resource.cmd -it writes nicely to
    the file.
    What am I missing here?
    Cheers,
    Jonne

  • Problems with accept () system call in Solaris 10

    We are doing some prototyping in Solaris 10/Zones using TCP sockets and have encountered the problem the "accept" system call in Solaris 10 always seem to return immediately without waiting for clients to connect to it. The same program works fine under Solaris 9 without any problems.
    So in the following call:
    ssock = accept( sockfd, (struct sockaddr*)bind_address, &alen );
    if( ssock < 0 )
    printf( "Accept failed: ...\n" );
    the program always prints "accept failed: " continuously. Is this a known issue?

    The problem only occurs when we use INADDR_ANY to bind a socket. The program works as expected when we use real as well as virtual IP address configured for an interface on any Solaris Zone. When we use INADDR_ANY, error number is 14 (EFAULT, Bad Address).
    Just wondering if we need to make any configuration changes in order to allow INADDR_ANY to work.

    Based on the log it is more likely an issue related to the file permissions. have you tried giving full permissions to the files?
    Check these files:
    ls -la /usr/sap/HE5/SYS/exe/run/jdbcconnect.jar
    ls -la /usr/sap/trans/tmp/AIXinst/swpm/COMMON/INSTALL/JDBCCONNECT.JAR
    If possible relax the file permissions (if required) and retry the step in sapinst.

  • Trex installation error FSL-00001  System call failed. Error 3

    I am installing trex on multiple hosts for a Production setup. Trex is version 7.0 patch level 40. All hosts are Windows servers running on "Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition, Service Pack 2" Distribution of trex instances are as follows,

    I uninstalled the Python application via the Windows "Add/Remove" programs utility and that seems to have resolved the issue.
    TREX has been installed successfully.

  • Making system calls in Flex

    - Can I make system calls to access the local file system? If
    so, is there a sample?
    - Can I make system calls to run local console
    scripts/binaries and get the output back? If so, is there a sample?

  • Webservice for ICI to interogate CRM based on Calling Line ID

    Hello
    We are just starting looking at linking our telephony to CRM IC using the standard Web Services provided in the ICI but I cannot find any information/example on which WSDL I need to use to achieve my objective.
    We are basically trying to start out with a very simple task of interrogating CRM based on the customer Calling Line ID (telephone number) to see if a record exists and then to send a response back to the telephony system containing customer account number if the calling line ID is found.
    I have followed the configuration to setup the CRM end but just need help with what to send the developers at the telephony end.
    Thanks
    Matt

  • Sun Studio 12 support DOS text (e.g. CR\LF) for line continuation ?

    I moved up to Sun Studio 12 hoping that I could solve a age old problem that allows me to share my code via NFS across multiple systems. AIX and GCC Linux precompilers and compilers have not problem with a code like this:
    #ifndef FSIBITON^M
    #define FSIBITON(x) \^M
    (long)( \^M
    ( ~(unsigned long)0 >> x ) & \^M
    ( ~(unsigned long)0 << ((sizeof(long)*8) - (x+1)) ) \^M
    )^M
    #endif^M
    (where ^M is the CR character)
    but for Solaris with the Sun Solaris compilers I have always had to copy the tree and convert to UNIX text.
    The line continuations are there for z/OS MVS record length limits to avoid having to modify default systems to build on that platform.
    Error:
    "/release/rel122/rps100/fsilib/unix/../h/fsi.h", line 118: token not allowed in directive: \
    Is there some undocumented flag/option I can use to get past this error? I hope so. Otherwise have to go back to coping lots and lots of code around, converting to Unix text as I do it, preserve the date based on the original file and then copy the binaries back to staging afterwards. On AIX and Linux and Windows they can all build in parallel from the SCM export.

    Sorry, I don't know of a way around this exact issue.
    Studio compilers will ignore the CR in a CR/LF sequence, but the C compiler does not accept what looks like an escaped CR. (The C++ compiler does accept what was intended as an escaped newline sequence.)
    Is the CR actually necessary? I thought that on systems using CR/LF as the default newline would accept LF as a newline as well in source code.
    If you have a Studio support contract with Oracle, you can file a request for enhancement (RFE) on the C compiler via your support channel to address your problem.

  • "The data area passed to a system call is too small." Windows 8

    I am not a developer - thus many comments do not make sense to me, as I'm just a heavy user. Today, about a year and half after beginning to use Windows 8, hyperlinks in my emails return the error "The data area passed to a system call is too small."
    Can you give a layperson (i.e. simple - is it fixable and can I fix it?) answer to this error? If I copy and paste the URL into my IE 10 browser, it works. However, this takes more time than I usually can afford given how often I use email links to continue
    my work.
    Here's a picture of the error message:
    OOPS, just got big RED message: Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account.
    I seem to have one (logged in automatically as sunwalkermsdn).
    Thanks for any help to this newly appearing issue.

    i am trying to use logic pro 9 on my lion system and it continues to say I have a bad midi...when i go to check my midi drivers folders in my library its empty...does anyone know whats going on?

    I
    got your message about making sure to use the machine specific disk that came with my machine. Unfortunately, Apple no longer sells Tiger replacement disks. I've got a couple of bids out on ebay, and will update when I have news to add to this post.
    Thank you for your help, Frank!
    To be clear you called the 800 number and explained what the situation was, old machine and lost the original DVD's?
    Just checking because if you just called and tried to buy the DVD's they might tell you they no longer sell them but you aren't really trying to buy them your trying to replace the ones that are missing.
    Ebay may work but there is a certain specificity to the DVD's required which, even if they seem right, might not work.
    Good luck either way. If you get a chance when you get the DVD's I'd be interested in hearing how it all works out.

  • IPhone 6 Plus 64GB (iOS 8.1 or 8.1.1) springboard crashes repeatedly when making phone calls via Continuity on Macbook Pro Retina Mid 2014 using Yosemite 10.10.1

    I USED TO be able to make phone calls using continuity on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with Yosemite (10.10) via my iPhone 6 Plus on iOS 8.1 without any problems.  Once I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, my iPhone's springboard would continually crash where it brings up the Apple logo and quickly restarts repeatedly until I end the call.  Just so that you know, I am able to stay on the call while this is occurring the whole time.
    I need to reiterate, this all started happening as soon as I updated Yosemite to 10.10.1 while still on iOS 8.1.  I know this because I made a few phone calls (loving the feature), updated Yosemite to 10.10.1, then made a few phone calls afterwards, and this started happening.
    When iOS 8.1.1 came out, I eagerly updated hoping this issue would go away, and it did not.  I'm hoping Apple notices this post.  If anyone else has this problem, please contact Apple and chime in this post as well.  Thank you Apple for incorporating continuity calling. I love this feature, but need to use it without my phone's springboard constantly crashing.

    I have this issue as well. I am using an iPhone 6 plus, iPad Air 2, 5K iMac, and MacBook Pro. When I make a continuity calls from any device, the springboard crashes. This only happens with outgoing calls, incoming calls are functioning normal. I am currently working with multiple Apple Senior Advisors, and they are working directly with iOS a engineers. I have an active open case and will update this thread when a resolution is found.
    Just a tip for everyone with this issue, restoring your devices and setting them up as new WILL NOT correct this issue. Save yourself the hassle. I did this with my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook and the issue still persists.
