System Extension Error HELP "MCT_Trigger1p.kext"

I have been continuously prompted with the following message for a couple of months now. It happens at least a few times a day and after googling it and trying to search my computer for that extension I still cannot seem to figure out the problem.
The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/MCT_Trigger1p.kext” was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update.
Help would be much appreciated!! This has become a frustration to deal with.
I have a 13 in 2012 Macbook Pro with a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor and an 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Memory with OS X 10.9.5
Thanks in advanced for any advice/tips!

  • Any app that can repair ".kext" system extension errors?

I sometimes see a handful of these pop up in a row (maybe 5-6 error messages in a row sometimes):
^not my particular error, just a stock photo from google, but pretty much the exact same wording/everything..
I am looking for something that can be used in the sense like how Disk Utility can "Repair Disk Permissions", but something that can "Repair .kext Permissions" (lol) if that's a thing..
Preferably looking for something simple, straightforward and isn't going to cause me to need to do a reinstall of OSX cuz it messed up any critical files..
    Any recommendations?

Here's what I would try- in this order
    make a backup first.
If it is an Apple .kext (like in your example), then repair your HD (boot into your recovery partition (⌘ R at restart) and use Disk Utility to repair your HD, and restart.
If it is a non-apple .kext, figure out what the app is that installed it, and uninstall it with the uninstaller from the developer. And restart.
      4. If that doesn't work, reinstall Mavericks with the combo updater, over your current installation. It shouldn't remove any of your documents. OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 Update (Combo)

  • Is there an update for Officejet 6830 to fix System Extension error.

Using OSX 107.5 and have received message that "/System/Library/Extension/AppleUSBthenettest.kext" was installed properly. No actual printing is possible. Paper comes through printer and the unit sounds as if it is printing but no ink is applied to paper. Doesn't execute COPY function either.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @accenton
I read about how your Officejet 6830 is printing out blank pages. I would suggest following the steps in the guide below and afterwards testing out copies before we get into software troubleshooting, if we get that far. The copies will need to print out with ink on them and without issue.
Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages
If the copies turn out to be fine, let me know, if the copies are still blank, contact HP to see what your printer replacement options are.

  • Invalid Extension error help needed...

Forgive me, but I'm no where close to being cisco savvy in anyway, but I need some help.  I'm the only IT guy for a company of roughly 100 employees.  I have been given the responsibility of administrating the phone and voicemail system.  Needless to say, I'm sort of learning as I go.  Anyway, when people dial into our 800 number they first choose 1 or 2 for english or spanish.  After that selection they can press 1 to enter an extension.  Some extensions however are coming up with a message saying you have dialed an invalid extension and then they are forwarded to the operator.  I know those extensions exist, so I'm guessing I'm missing some rather obvious setting.  We have Cisco Unity 4.0 Build 4.0(4).  I'm not sure if any other info is needed but I'd be glad to provide it.  Thanks in advance.

Cool.  I can work with that.  Do me a favor first.  Go here: http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/CxN/PortStatusMonitorCUC7x/Help/Connection%20Remote%20Port%20Status%20Monitor.html
Read up on this tool and read the Help file as well.  You can use it to call into Unity and when your call hits a port - you'll see it and be able to "watch" what Unity is doing as you progress thru the call.  It may not lead to exactly what's going on but 1) it can be educational and 2) it can help verify what Unity is seeing and doing compared to what you think should occcur.

  • System Clock Error -- help me

    Hello
I'm a new Mac user. I just bought iBook G3 500 with Tiger on it. Every time I turn it on, I see clock error message. "Your computer's clock is set to a date before March 24th, 2001. This may cause some applications to behave erratically." And actually date & time is set at Dec 31, 1969. Of course, I changed the time and date and locked it. But once I turn it off and back on, it happens again. System error?

Between on and off, it was still plugged in. But battery seems totally dead. It doesn't hold any charge at all. Is it the problem of battery?
Another question is about memory and hard disk.
Now I have 384(128+256)MB and I'll have a 512MB stick soon, which makes 640MB. Does it help for performance?
Also I'll receive 40G Samsung MP0402H 5400 hard disk which will replace current 10G 4200 rpm. Will it help performance?
I'll get a fully chargeable battery soon.
    Thanks

  • "System extension cannot be used" when installing programs.

    Hello,
I just transferred my files via Firewire from my Old Macbook Pro 2.5 running Leopard to my new Macbook Pro 2.8 running Snow Leopard. When I was updating system software on the new computer I started to get this system extension error. It says teh extension was improperly installed and cannot be used and must be updated or reinstalled. All of them are in /System/Library/Extensions/ Here's the extensions:
    MacPortX.kext
    MacPortXVersionChecker.kext
    PACESupport2.kext
    SMARTBoardCable.kext
The PACE and Smartboard ones are for programs I can probably update, but how do I reinstall/update the first two? And what are they for?
    Any help would be appreciated

I assume MacPortX is another third-party program since it isn't part of OS X. For all three of these utilities you need to uninstall them completely then reinstall them. This includes deleting the kexts
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are also several shareware utilities that can uninstall applications:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.

  • Help! system extension cannot be used....(IODVDstoragefamily.kext)

my superdrive just stopped working one day, there was no cd in the drive and it just wouldnt take in any cd's... this was a problem but as i have little to no money i couldnt really do anything about... now all of a sudden i get this error message
The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/IODVDStorageFamily.kext“ was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product’s vendor for an update.
now i cant even mount any sort of disk image i was planning on buying an external dvd drive but now im worried that even if i do it wont work/ i wont be able to install any sort of software to make it work... i cant find any info online about how to "reinstall" the .kext i really dont know what to do... the nearest apple store is a lil less than an hours drive from my house and again im worried if i take it there an im gonna pay em to tell me theres nothing they can do... ive got an ibook g4 and i purchased it in jan of 05 didnt buy the extended care plan like an idiot... i dont know if anyone can help but id greatly appreciate any sort of input...

Some exteral FireWire optical DVD/RW+CD/RW drives work fine, but
may have an issue on attempting to boot the original or third party
OSX bootable install/restore disc or one otherwise made to boot the Mac.
This is where it's nice to have a decent return policy at the place of purchase.
Also, a Mac-Friendly reseller should have someone on their staff, perhaps
in the service department or an Apple sales specialist who uses Macs,
who can suggest such an external optical drive to suit your needs for now.
There are several generally good brands; but I am not sure what ones
are most likely to do this critical function. For other features that may
or may not work (such as burning various disc formats, etc) you could
use shareware or freeware disk burning utilities. I found a few free ones.
You should be able to possibly use another computer's optical
drive to attempt a reinstall (archive & install may not fix it) of
the dysfunctional Mac's OSX to get the suspect extension back.
[I'm still wondering if the extension itself is the problem. Some of
the items that show up in a System Log as being bad can be
worked around by the system, or were items by-passed in a
system upgrade at some time in the past. A full reinstall may work.]
There may be another route to take, and suggestions outside
of these few would be entertained. It would be a BYOB sorta deal.

Seems pretty clear to me. Here's what you can try:
Open Terminal in your Utilities folder. Paste the following at the prompt:
         sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext
Press RETURN. Enter admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed so type carefully. Press RETURN again.
