System.log flooding  - strange loop every 10sec.

Unfortunately for us, we decided to update the computers in our office to 10.5.
Among other problems our server has become unstable - it has spontaneusly crashed twice in two weeks.
I tried to find the reason by looking at logs and I found it quite difficult since now a couple of processes are for some reason looping all the time and flooding the system logs.
Can someone tell what this means? Something about MySql but we aren't supposed to running any as I know...

It seems pretty clear that mysql is trying to load, but failing for some reason ('Too many arguments').
I doubt that's the cause of your instability, but it's easy to stop MySQL from loading. Open a terminal window and run:
sudo launchctl unload -w org.mysql.mysqld
Hopefully that'll clear up the logs and make it easier to spot the issue.

  • System.log flooded by mail

    Hi
To analyze a crashing program, I looked into system.log and saw that it's flooded by messages from mail.
When I googled this I had almost no results, am I the only one bugged by this or am I missing something.
Is there a way to make mail logging less verbose?
The enormous IMAPMessageDetails are non informative and make the log unreadable.
The other entries I can live with, but is also too much for my taste.

I have renamed the system with no change to the frequency of the error, and I cannot find 'pac-1' in the registry anywhere except for strings located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\LANDesk\Inventory\LogonHistory\Logons that list prior logons.
I've done my google research and have found great information for plenty of other people's situations, just not this one.  Any helpful advice is welcome.

I'd check my WINS server's registration entries, if they contain an
entry with that NETBIOS name. If the machine with the ip-address
172.20.21.2 is not your WINS server you need to check, what services
etc. are running on that machine. Also look if the domain/workgroup
name, which is used by this machine is correct and identical to all
    other machines.

What is this process and how do I either turn it off or make it work?

A little Goodling might help. Apparently, you installed Live Journal or something else that installed memcached from danga. It can't bind to an IP address to do its thing and is failing.

  • System keeps suspending every 10sec.

    Hi,
I'm new to the forum, although I've been using Archlinux for quite a while.
My problem is really strange, it all started after my netbook went out of battery while compiling (Octave, if it matters).
Now it's unusable. When I boot it up, it keeps going to sleep state S3 every 10sec. I've to keep on waking it up (by pressing any key), despite this, all seems normal and in the end it reaches desktop (but keeps suspending).
Anybody has any idea as to where to look at?
dmesg only shows that it suddenly goes to S3 state, but it does so cleanly, as if something requests for it.
Thank you very much, sorry I can't give much more information now, will try to get some logs to show you.
    EDIT-Unsolved:
While writing the post I had an idea. It turned out that Laptop-mode-tools got bugged (Don't know how/why) and it was issuing the suspend command. I disabled it with:
    systemctl disable laptop-mode
    and it got fixed.
    EDIT2:
I'm really sorry, seems that it was just bad luck, though I had it fixed.
Turns out that when disabling laptop-mode service, the service that gives this random behavior got stopped, but it had nothing to do with Laptop-Mode. I uninstalled it, restarted and I again saw the same erratic behavior, the system keeps suspending.
I can go to run level 3 without problems, so it must be another service causing the anomaly.
Could someone point me where/how to find the service that arises the problem?

  • Solution manager system log - strange entries

    Hi Everyone,
the problem we are facing in Solution Manager system log every five minutes appears a new error message:
2 Database error -30082 at CON
    0 > SQL30082N Security processing failed with reason "24"
    0 > ("USERNAME AND/OR PASSWORD INVALID"). SQLSTATE=08001
First of all the landscape: ECC, BI, CRM, PI and Solman. Each system is DEV, QUA, PRD - except Solution Manager.
Result of going to see the logs within work directory:
    Connect to %_DCR_XXXXX as db2dcr with DB6_DB_NAME=DCR;DB6_DB_HOST=xxxxxx;DB6_DB_SCHEMA=SAPSR3;DB6_DB_SVCENAME=5912

Some of the systems are being connected successfully and the error messages in SM21 are not related to those systems. But some of the systems like DCR cannot be reached. And this fact causing the error messages.
I haven't configured Solution Manager because I have joined the project later. I would like to know what job is trying to access the satellite system and for what purpose.
On solution manager side I have checked all the scheduled background jobs - all of them have been executed successfully.
There some of them are scheduled but it is hard understand what is purpose of the job.
I have checked and corrected system landscape through SMSY and have maintained all the RFCs. They all OK now.
What else could force to make a connection to satellite system? And where is the place where it is hardcoded local(satellite) db2 connection entry?
Like I said before, some of the systems are being connected but some not. The one which has not been connected - there was recently changed SAP master password. I believe this is the key to resolve the problem. But the system itself operating 100% correctly.
Perhaps it could be CCMS that makes some extra connections to collect the data from the monitored systems. But I have checked all the RFC's in SM59 and they were OK.
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards,
    Artjom.

    Kaustubh Krishna,
    thank you for respond.
It was dbacockpit. The connection was maintained with old db2sid password. And it was causing problematic log entries.
    Problem was solved.
    Points awarded.
    Thanks,
    kind regards,
    Artyom

  • Strange system log error from Photoshop CS4

    Hi.
I keep getting this strange system log error from Photoshop CS4.
It comes after a wile when using PS CS4.
I tried to chance the memory settings and scratch disc to see if that helped. It didn't.
I also checked all my ram for anything bad. 16GB in my Mac Pro Intel OS X 10.5.6
Everything is updated to latest included Adobe apps.
This is the system log error

  • Strange system log error

    Hi everyone.
    I'm having some trouble.
Today i saw my system log file have an error going.
    its a
iMac AOSNotification[165]: [AOSNotification] XMPP session not connected - no ping sent
and it is coming all day long.
i'm sure it have something to do with MobileMe or some synchronizing thing.
Anyone have an idea of what to do ? I did try to log out and back in on MobileMe.
    But it didn't help.
    Thx

    Hi.
Yes. it is synchronizing with my Notes, Keychains, Bookmarks and Calendar but not with a iPhone
Just the normal MobileMe on the computer. The iPhone is manually synchronized with iTunes and not with MobileMe.
But the strange part is. I even deleted all the MobileMe sync preffs such as
    user/Library/Application support/Preferences/host/com.apple.AOSNotification
    user/Library/Application support/Preferences/host/com.apple.DotMacSync
    user/Library/Application support/Preferences/com.apple.FileSyncAgent.plist
and logged out of MobileMe preffspane in systempreffs.
And it is still giving me the same error in system log ????
Really weird now that i eint logged in ?

The following sequence keeps repeating every few seconds in the System Log. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it is all about? It appears to be referring to a Python script, but we have not "knowingly" executed any.

Okay - I also noticed this same issue as propably many others - did little study and found out the reason.
First of all - these should be standard locations, but let's make sure. I found out that wikid keeps it settings in /etc/wikid/wikid.conf - From error messages I checked source of last mention before process ended. Not pasting anything to here, I usually use PHP or C and try to stay away from python but I was able to make something out. Assert is a function that makes a test agains something, if this test's result is true (if I remember my studies right, I rarely use assert) it exits process. Why? Sometimes when programs start they need to make certain checks to avoid crashing - crashing isn't nice..
Anyway, test was for existency of directory where logfile(s) are kept. From same or another source file I also found out about location /etc/wikid, I ofcourse could had checked it from there in the first place, but I liked to follow the code a bit.. There I found file wikid.plist, opened it - a long conf file and finally there it was - logfile(s) are kept in location:
    /Library/Logs/wikid
I created this directory and restarted, everything wasn't okay yet, as rights for that directory were incorrect. So I checked com.apple.wikid in LaunchDaemons and found out it runs as user _teamsserver and gid _teamsserver. So I changed rights for that uid and gid and everything was working after that.
Here's what you need to do in terminal to get it working:
    #sudo mkdir /Library/Logs/wikid
    #sudo chown -R teamsserver:teamsserver /Library/Logs/wikid
Then just restart wikid, there you go. This was my first post and I just created account for this.
Can be marked as SOLVED but 10.5.2 should make sure this directory gets created - either when ever it's missing and wikid is started, or just a empty dir created while upgrading to 10.5.2

  • Strange system.log entries.  Have I been compromised?  Related to ARD

Every two minutes my system.log posts a new entry that I am having a UDP WritePacket error 65 and it looks as if its trying to connect to a range of IP's that are hosted by pacbell. I do not have any systems outside my network on my ARD so not sure what the heck is going on. Here is a copy of the messages:

There is another post about this about a couple of months ago. The poster figured out that the first number -64 actually could be translated into 192. etc.
and that the computers were not online at the time (laptops etc).

  • System log query is flooded with the message.. WindowServer[]: WSSetTrackingAreaEnabled : Invalid tracking area

Hello apple community (: quick question
my system log query is flooded with the message..
    "8/29/14 12:10:12.258 PM WindowServer[176]: WSSetTrackingAreaEnabled : Invalid tracking area 0x61000089f220"
it has shown me after i run Mavericks Cache Cleaner to clean my computer. in my Activity Log, WindowServer[176] is taking up anywhere from 5 - 20 cpu at a time. (maybe more haven't watched it for too long)
what do i do fix this? i recently updated to OS X and i haven't payed attention to the errors until now (i'm an idiot i know..) so i don't exactly know when it all started happening. sorry all just hoping someone will have an idea.
    -Ali

What functional problem do you have, if any? Log messages are not a problem in themselves.
