T420s: Strange shape on the screen

Dear Community,
since several days I hav this strange shape on my T420s screen. It sometimes gets weaker, but in general it expands.
What is this and what can I do??

Sorry about the screen.
I think Lenovo ThinkPad series has an amazing build quality and the machines are tank-like in durability, always designed to be the business utility workhorse with roll cage, strong hinges etc. I prefer the ThinkPad because I mainly use Windows for the same reason and, I prefer Office for Windows over mac. I would say if you mainly use Windows programs go for the ThinkPad.
I still find them more durable than any other machine. You can always trust the machines and the warranty.
It's hard for anyone else to tell you what you should choose and it's something you have to figure out on your own depending on your requirement.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.

Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity. A third party service will actually replace the damage part for a little less. Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

Are you hearing beeps?
What was the spec of the RAM?
What was the brand of RAM?
Have you double checked that the RAM is properly seated?

Strange shape on black screen??

When I wake up my 08 MBP from sleep, the blak screen appears with the computer asking me for my password, and on that black background there is a brighter 2 dimensional shape of a table ( kinda like two T's connected together at the top) so I was wondering could this be some kind of defect??

Does anybody have strange bumps on the screen frame?

I got a new Macbook Air 2013 one month ago. It looks pretty nice. The only strange thing I find is that when I slide my finger on the screen frame right beside the webcam, I feel two tiny bumps. If use eye scan it carefully, there are really two tiny bumps on it. It just seems like metal expantion but actually I don't think it's possible. I tried very hard to press them down but made nothing change. I want to know if anybody has the same problem with me. I found in a video clip that the thing behind this area is glue then magnetic pieces to close the lid.
Could anyone give me a explanation about what happened? I'm really puzzled.

thats a buckled defect in mfg. of the alloy back-plate of the monitor.
since its a new Air, take it in for a new monitor or swap for a new Air at the discretion of the Apple.
Contact Apple for an appt. for a replacement monitor.

Something strange happend to the screen

I don't know what happend to my 4th generation iPod Touch, but the i get a white screen and cant turn it on:

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. I supect the screen is damaged, especially in the lower right-hand side.

Strange spot in the screen

i bought an iphone3g 8gig and after 2 days i noticed a spot in the middle of the screen and its look like a liquid or something and if u press on it or near it it spreads and when u left it it comes back like a small dot or something ,u just can't see it when the device is working unless u press it or near it , please respond

This is definitely something that should be looked at by your local Apple Store or contact AppleCare.

I think it happened after exposure to sunlight. does it warraty case? And can i change screen to IPS?

when I try to connect my laptop to my Samsung 32" LCD with VGA, I have strange ripples on the screen.
I tried changing every settings in my computer and in my TV and it's still there.
How can I fix this?

Did you test the notebook with other external monitors?
You should do this to ensure that this is not a LCD issue
Furthermore I recommend checking if such ripples are visible using different screen resolutions!
Last but not least an graphic card driver update would be useful too.

Dark areas on the screen

Hi, I have a 17 inch macbook pro and have some strange marks on the screen at first I thought it was just dirt, I tried cleaning but this seems to make no difference, can anyone suggest anything, could the screen be damaged? the patches only show from particular angles sometimes as dark patches sometimes as light patches depending on the angle of view.

If it is really troublesome and upsets you then I would call Applecare, yes it will be covered by the guarantee. It is just that you never know how you will receive your MBP back (whether in perfect condition or scratched) or if they decide to exchange it, whether it will have other problems. So i decided to keep mine , as it only seems visible during boot up on the blue screen.
If you bought it from a store in London, take it back to them and speak to a genius..They can tell you there and there what needs to be done.

Highlight part of the screen

I am working with a video of a high school soccer team and I need to highlight a single player on the field. I would like to slightly darken the entire image except for an oval in which the single player would show through at the regular brightness.
Alternatively, an arrow pointing to the player would work (without darkening or highlighting the player).
I just need to single out the player at the beginning of the clip - I'm not intending of having the oval or arrow follow him through the entire sequence.
Can someone tell me a good way to do this? Thanks.

Put one copy of the video on V1 in the timeline. Apply one of the image control filters to darken the image.
From the Generators make an oval shape. Use the controls to make the right shape. Put the oval on V2.
Put another copy of the video on V3. To the clip on V3 use Modify>Composite Mode>Travel Matte - Luma.
Animate the oval shape by keyframing the motion controls to move the shape around the screen as needed.

When using Firefox today a strange page with the title wonderhowto showing video instruction appears and all other open pages are closed. I have minimalised this stranger to the screen base and it now shows there with a mini firefox attached!

Please bear with me as I am quite new to computers. Early today on start up I was asked to upgrade an Apple app. I declined as I did not have time.
I opened Firefox as usual and went into several sites mail news etc and all seemed fine. Late morning this strange and quite professional looking video instruction page appeared full of photo's and instructions etc, the page took over the whole screen I thought it was strange so I closed it and all my open Firefox sites had gone. This has now happened several times. I have now noticed that when it is up there is a website address at the bottom of the screen. I tried to copy and paste this but it would not let me. There is a name scorecardresearch.com. Does this strike a bell with anyone?

My Photoshop CS 5 has some strange actions when I copy a portion of a photo using the clone stamp to transfer to another part of the image. It carries the entire layer (not just the stamps selection) across the screen and I cannot place it where I need to. It appears as if I selected the entire layer on purpose (which I did not)
The below items appeared when I opened Photoshop CS 5:
“Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver and has temporarily disabled G & U enhancements. Check the video card malfunctions website for latest software. GPU enhancements can be enabled in the performance panel of preferences.”
(I believe this started after the automatically updated Windows was applied. It was coincident with the before mentioned problem . . . but I don’t really know if it had anything to do with it. )

For the Clone Stamp problem, check the Clone Source panel and Clipped is probably unchecked.
If so, check Clipped and see if that makes a difference.
(Window>Clone Source)
As to the video card problem:
Which version of windows are you using?
What is the make and model of your graphics card?
Do you know which update windows installed?
