T431s - Microsoft Certificate / Key - where is it?

Hi,
just received my new T431s (which came preinstalled with Windows 7 Professional). I would like to reinstall the OS. The key is not printed somewhere on the machine. I hope :-) it's not under the battery (as the battery is not user replacible, I would have to open the laptop) and is not part of the documentation that came with the machine.
Where is the Windows 7 Activation key / Microsoft Certificate?
Thank you!

Hi bazzzer,
Try checking the bios of the laptop for an embedded key (usually this is done with windows 8 only, but things may have changed). I believe you press the enter key immediately after the system turns on. If its not there, you can dowload a free program called "belarc advisor" that can find all product keys including the Windows 7 one (assuming you haven't already  wiped the OS).

  • UCS Manager and using Microsoft Certificate Authority

Has anybody gone through the process of setting up UCS Manager with a certificate issued from a Microsoft Certificate Authority?  If so I would appreciate some assistance.  I was able to successfully create a request and have generated the certificate, but I see no way of being able to put the request and the certificate chain back into UCS Manager.

First you have to create a trusted point (under the Admin Tab -> Key Management). In the new trusted point, paste the public cert in base64 format of your root certificate authority. If you have a subordinate CA that's issuing then add that CA's cert too. If you have a whole tree of CAs, then you need to create a trusted point with all the CAs in the chain from the issueing CA up to the root. Paste one cert after the other, in order, up the chain, all in the same trusted point. If they're not in the right order or if you're missing the root, then the TP won't accept the cert.
Once you have a trusted point you can accept the certificate you generated. In the KeyRing you used to generate the request, choose the new Trusted Point, and paste the new certificate in Base64 format into the Certificate field.
Once that's done, you can go to Communication Management -> Communication Services, and for the HTTPS protocol, choose the new Key Ring. It might not take effect immediately, but after a few minutes your UCSM web site should start responding with the new certificate.
    I hope that helps.
Note: There's a bug in UCS currently issue number CSCth62582. If your fabric interconnects fail over, the SSL cert will revert to the default self signed cert. You have to go back into Communication services and set it to default, save, then set it back to the new Key Ring.

If you mean the hexidecimal equivalent of the alphanumeric password, then you can find this via the AirPort Utility, as follows:
AirPort Utility > Select the AirPort > Manual Setup
On the AirPort Utility's menubar select Base Station > Equivalent Network Password

  • OS X Support of Certificate Key Length

I'm trying to import a self signed root certificate for our enterprise into a Lion machine's key chain and I'm getting an error message: "An error occured. Unable to import "<cert name>" Error -67762"
The certificate has a key length of 8192 bits, signature algorithm of SHA256RSA.
The subordiant certificate with a key length of 4096 bits, signature algorithm of SHA256RSA.
Is there a limitation on the certificate key length that OS X Lion supports? Is this planned to be addressed in an update, or is there a way to change this?

    According to this document:
    https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/security/Reference/keycha inservices/Reference/reference.html
    That error value is errSecInvalidAttributeKeyLength
And I can confirm that the key length of 8192 bits is indeed the issue, as I came across this problem myself from generating a certificate key at that length.

Does Apple have anything like Microsoft's OneNote (where I don't have to use a cloud server)?

    Rob, others,
For CS6 (as for CS5 and CS5.5), registration with Adobe forms part of activation, so none of them can be run without Adobe having your registration number.
So they must have it, and you must be able to get it, through your Adobe ID, or if that has changed through some other information such as name, email address, or something.
You should be able to get help one of these places if needed,

  • Certificate key usage in standalone CA

I have a problem with a standalone sub CA.
Certificate must be able to sign Outlook mails, encrypt them and sign Word documents, so in certqtp.inc I've changed rgAvailReqTypes parametr for my certificate:
    rgAvailReqTypes(0,FIELD_OID)="1.3.6.1.4.1.311.10.3.12, 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.4, 1.3.6.1.5.5.7.3.2, 1.3.6.1.4.1.311.10.3.4"
After that key usage field of enrolled certificates have changed to "data ecnryption (20)", but I don't know why. So with this key usage I can sign documents, can ecnrypt mails, but can't sign them (key usage must contain digital signature).
How to change key usage field in standalone CA ??

    Hi,
Since you are using standalone CA, certificate templates won’t be used, therefore, you need to configure .inf file to achieve your goal.

  • Microsoft certificate for SSL

    Hi All,
I am trying to use the certificate generated from Microsoft Windows for SSL between
IIS and WLS. When I generated the certificate, I also export the private key.
Then I use this certificate and private key to create an identity keystore using
ImportPrivateKey, but failed - can not import. DOes anyone know:
    (1) the certificate generated from Microsoft windows 2000 can be used in WLS for
    SSL?
    (2) If can, how to make this working?
Thanks a lot for any helps.
    Weili

There should be no problem importing the Microsoft key and certificate as long
as they are in expected format and the password is correct. ImportPrivateKey can
import certificate and key in der or pem files with the key in pkcs8 format.

  • External intermediate certification authority certificate & key

Hi all.  I was curious if an external vendors like Entrust or Thawte would sell an Intermediate CA certificate and key for HTTPS filtering, or if this is something reserved only for business partners (like other CA's who are going to charge for certs).     I know how to do this internally using our enterprise microsoft CA, that works well with Windows boxes, but that CA is not on GPO'd on non-windows boxes like apple devices nor Android smartphones, so we thought using a more widely recognized root-authority intermediate cert would be better for our users.   Im no expert on certificates so feel free to correct if im misunderstanding, thanks.

    Hello,
In most cases, a 3rd party trusted CA (such as Verisgn or Thawte) will not sell an intermediate certificate, as that essentially gives you the power to sign other certificates and make them seem legitimate as they would be trusted by the user's browser. This is a major security vulnerability for users and could deminish the reputation of the CA.
For devices/applications that do not have the WSA certificate in their trusted cert store, you can either pass through the connections in the Decryption policies, or you can have them click through the certificate warning (if possible) for connections that are decrypted.
