T520 - high pitched sound from speakers

Hello,
As of today, something strange has been happening.
My T520 automatically plays back my voice and I can hear high pitched static and my voice echo in the background as well as my typing.  I thought shutting down my computer and rebooting would do the trick but it doesnt: as soon as I get to the windows 7 welcome screen where it's loading, the play back happens.
I didn't set this setting and I've never heard of this before.
Any help is appreciated.

How can I get rid of this noise and still use my phantom powered mic (which sounds great otherwise)?
Something may be wrong with the mic itself, or the mixer. If you can swap out one, that could help pinpoint the culprit.
As a quick test, you could try plugging the mic into a different input in the mixer and see if that helps.
Also, to double-check, are you sure you're not getting any feedback (are your headphones leaking)?

  • High Pitch Sound from iMac '11?

    Hello everyone,
I purchased the mid '11 iMac model and am now hearing a high pitch sound which fluctuates when I change the screen brightness.
Is this a known problem; is it big enough of a problem that Apple will fix when still under warranty?

You shouldn't be hearing a high pitch sound. You should take the iMac in for evaluation, but first verify that you don't have another other equipment attached that might be contributing to the issue. My recommendation is to try disconnecting the iMac from any surge strips or backup power (UPS) supplies to see whether the issue still occurs. I would also disconnect any external peripherals, USB/FW devices, speakers or audio equipment that you have attached.

  • High Pitched Sound from X61 -- sent in for repair

So, since the very beginning of my Lenovo Thinkpad ownership I have experienced a high pitched noise when on High Performance battery power.
So I just switched it to Power Saver mode and forgot about it (Busy student, hard to find time to go weeks without computer)
So recently I sent it in to Lenovo. They replaced the motherboard and the hdd.
I recieved it today, only to find that it is still quite prevalent.
I'm wondering how many have went through the repair service for the same problem. Also, do they at the repair center just put parts in and hope it fixes it without checking?
I called and they told me it will be on escalated priority (has anyone ever been told this?) and the box will get here tomrw. Thankfully I live in Memphis where a repair center is right around the corner. (However, I go back to school the 14th)
They told me they will be replacing the fan. I'm no expert, but it doesn't sound like the fan. What can I expect from lenovo if they can't fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    Josh

I should add, I did a very lax search of this topic, but my post also addresses other questions. Don't hate me. I understand forum etiquitte more than anyone, it's just I didn't have time. I needed quick answers bc of my school situation.
    Thanks in advance,

  • G5 Dual 2.5GHz freezes with a very high pitch sound

    Hi
My G5 Dual 2.5GHz freezes with a very high pitch sound from inside the comp. It happens occasionally after a few days of everything running smoothly. Someone can help ?
    PowerMac G5 Dual 2.5 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi Phil Brayshaw-
What does the little white power light do? This should be helpful: About the Power Mac G5 (Late 2005) diagnostic LEDs
Although it sounds to me like you have tried most of the troubleshooting steps, this document is a good overall reference to address this particular problem: Power Mac G5: What to do if you see black, white, or no video at start up
Have you tried another monitor and/or double-checked your cable and its connections? If everything else is working as expected that would certainly be a major suspect.

  • High pitched sound (not from the speakers)

I bough an A665 on may 21st 2011, and since day 1 ive been hearing a high pitched sound coming from the underside of the laptop (directly above the RAM slots). Sometimes its there and sometimes its not (mostly it is...). I found out that if i scroll down on a webpage the sound goes away...only to come back when im finished scrolling.
    Any ideas?

Update.....I get my laptop back yesterday (friday) for the second time ..They said they replaced the HD with a Western digital HD because the toshiba ones seem to be having a vibration issue...Well, they put another Toshiba HD in it not the WD....The same Buzzing, staticy noise is still there and on top of it all the new HD make alot more clicking noise then the previous one....When I sent the laptop in for the second time, eveything was working fine except for the same Buzzing, staticty noise...Well Now i still get the noise and on top of all that, I can not turn off the LED lights on the keyboard which I was able to do before, I can not run any Toshiba software (IE PC Health, Eco...Etc) I get Bios errors and other errors, and some things are freezing....Spoke to them again, and now had to call the Case Manager,,and all they said is to send it back to their main repair place, not the repair depot.....I told them all i want is another new machine....getting tired going 1 month with out a laptop and all you guys are doing is guessing, replacing with out testing and sending it back and they said they can not replace it.........This is one for the books.....I should of bought the HP or Dell I saw first......to be continued.

  • High-Pitched Squeaks From Internal Speakers

    Hello,
I just received my brand new mbp a few days ago and I noticed a significant difference with sound quality from the internal speakers compared to the previous versions of the mbp.
My new one seems to be giving out really high pitched sounds when I am playing my music. It's really high pitch and it is affecting my work and giving me headaches when i do my work.
    Anyone experiencing such problems?
and is there a way i can adjust this or is it a mechanical defect?

  • High pitched sound emitting from brand new HDD?

Part 2 of my HDD woes.
I received my repaired laptop with a brand new HDD today on my MBP 4,1. This time around the brand is Toshiba, my last one was Hitachi and the one before that, I can't really remember. But the point is, with the last two hard drives I've had I've NEVER heard anything like this.
The hard drive is emitting an extremely loud, and annoying high pitch sound. At first, I thought it was my laptop when it was plugged in - unplugged it and lo and behold it's the hard drive. I put the computer to sleep, the sounds stops. When I open my laptop, that is how you can for sure tell it's the drive because the sound starts up with the hard drive. I actually have a headache from it, it is SO awful.
I'm extremely upset, this is my third hard drive in less than three years. I just wanted to know if anyone else experiences this, because I don't think this sound is ok at all. Is this typical of Toshiba HDD (250 GB)? I'm really hoping to read that someone else had this problem and that they replaced the drive for them. It's getting to be absolutely ridiculous, especially being in a professional program where I rely on my laptop everyday.
Advice would be wonderful, I'm sure this will mean I need to go back to the Apple Store again tomorrow.

Yep, called Apple Support this morning and I spoke with the Senior Advisor and he was very disappointed for me and was extremely apologetic that I will have to take the laptop back and get a new HDD. He assured me that they will give me a new HDD - again. Just frustrating because I already took the time to (2.5 hours!) to transfer all of my data from Time Machine to the new HDD.

  • High pitched sound - something to do with internal microphone ??

Suddenly my Powerbook has started emitting a high pitched sound through its speakers. You know one of those high frequency ear-blowing sounds when a PA system is being set up and the mic is getting tested and the amp's turned up too loud?
I'm not sure exactly what I was doing when it started, but I think I was making or receiving a telephony call via iChat. During or just after the connection process (which didn't work for some reason but that could've been a problem at the other end), this high pitched squeal started. I can get rid of it by turning down the output volume - the squeal disappears but that of course turns all other output sound down as well. The sound disappears when the volume is turned down about half way.
But...even if the sound is turned down half way, if I put my hand over the left speaker, the sound comes back. No sound comes back if I place hand over right speaker. I assume then that the inbuilt microphone is under the left speaker area, and this has something to do with the inbuilt mic.
The only other thing that's happened in recent times is that I used this Powerbook's audio line-in port to record some sound from an audio casette recently. I used Audio Recorder 2.0 for this. I can't imagine this has been the cause, but thought I'd better mention it. If I go into the Sound Preference panel, I can stop the squeal by changing the sound input device from internal microphone to Line In.
Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening and how iit can be fixed?
    Many thanks, Steven

Hey, great suggestion Burn. It prompted me to look at iChat preferences, since that was the only application that I've had open which might engage the internal microphone.
Within iChat Preferences, I clicked on the 'Video' icon, and for the 'Microphone' setting I saw that 'None selected' (or something like that - that option has gone now?) was in place. So I changed the setting to Internal Microphone. The whistle or screech was still there. Then I changed the setting to 'Line In'. No more screech!!
A good result, but is this the way it's supposed to be? Does having the setting as 'Line In' mean that I have to plug headphones in whenever I want to use iChat for internet telephony? Unless I manually change to Internal Microphone, but then I suffer screeching again?
    Cheers, Steven

  • High pitched sound

When I turn my HP lap top on, I have a high pitched sound coming from my speakers.  The sound doesn't go awy when I play music.

If your warranty is still valid, I would highly recommend getting it serviced.
Otherwise... is the sound coming from the left side of the LCD, or the left side of the base? And is it closer to the front or rear of the computer? What's your model number? When does the sound happen? Does it ever go away? Does it happen on AC and battery power?

  • Equium M70: strange screeching sound from speakers

I have an Equium M70 and within the last 2 days have been getting strange screeching sounds from the speakers when using Windows.
Cd's/DVD's seem to run as normal but when I open up I get a piercing high pitched sound for about a minute, if I then click on a link or shorcut I get a double short screech.
I've tried running the system diagnostic test but when it gets to the wav sound check the screech becomes almost unbearable and the whole thing just hangs there util I terminate the test.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I know that I ran into this problem not that long ago. The resolution was to reinstall windows and the sound was fixed. But that was just my case and yours could be a more severe case. Try plugging in headsets and seeing if that fixes the problem. I think that somehow the problem I had was with windows sound files. It played all audio files just fine, except any windows generated wave files, at which point it screeched etc. Recovered with the CD's and it works fine now. Try to use the recovery CD's, if that does not help I suggest taking it to your ASP and have them check it out. Have a nice day.

  • All-In-One IdeaCentre C440, high pitch sound

I have a problem with my Desktop PC All-In-One Lenovo IdeaCentre C440, machine type: 10104, configuration number: 57322047. I bought this computer last week ago and from the beginning is present a high pitch sound. The high pitch sound is more evident when I don't use the PC (on Windows desktop for example or when I navigate on the Internet). I noticed that this high pitch sound disappear if I play a game (I set the sound off to confirm this) and come back in desktop Windows mode. I noticed also that this high pitch sound is lower or disappear if I copy (transfer) large files on my home network from one computer to another.
Is a solution for this situation ? Thank you.

Yesterday I've been with my computer to a service nearby. The guy from there told me that he doesn't have what to do and that probably in time the sound will just become worst and worst.
Unfortunately lenovo it's a big dissapointment.

  • Macbook Pro and high-pitch sound, please help!

    Hello,
I have a Macbook Pro 13 inch that is almost brand new. I just got it 3 months ago for my birthday. About a month or two with my new computer I started hearing a high-pitch sound comming from the computer. The sound only lasts about 3-6 seconds and it goes of at random times. It might make the noise 5 times in one day but then it might go away for 3 days, totally random. The sound comes if the computer is sitting there or is being used. After about 3 months of this going off I deceided to bring it to the Apple store in New Haven, CT. Does anyone have the same problem?
After bringing my computer in and telling them the problem, they tested in for about 30 minutes. Everything was fine. No fan problem or hardrive problem. I brought the computer back home and within 3 days the sound is back. I drove to the Apple store again told them my problem, again, and they did they same test with no results. Brought it back home, noise is still there. This time im starting to get angry, they arent offering any solution. I bring it back and they take it for about 48 hours and do a extensive check. Nothing was found. I bring it home again and the noise is still there. My father and I went to Apple pretty angry and told them that we appreciate the time they take but something really needs to be done. They have sent it out for 3-5 days and we are awating a phone call to see whats wrong.
I am hoping that they find something or if they dont can they can replace my computer? I am not spending hours of my own time and gas money going back and forth to Apple for no reason..the Genius bar guys have been no help telling us basically that we are lying and that there is nothing wrong when clearly there is. What can I do? Has anyone had this same noise come from their computer? I really appreciat everyone that decideds to throw some input in. Thank you so much.

    I have the latest software
    Macbook Pro 13'

Make a recording of the sound so the next time you take it in you can let them hear it. It might be best to do a video of the unit so the sound is combined with pictures/video of the computer so they know  the sound is coming from it.
IMHO the guys at the B-bars are just about useless for this type of thing. If it isn't a bad drive, HDD or DVD, and the system seems to run OK (actually even if it doesn't run OK but runs at all) they will say "Everything looks OK". Or if the thing is dead they can help. That help will be "You need a new HDD" "You need a new DVD drive" "You need a new Logic board" and that's about it.
