Tabbed panel panel change event

I wants to fire an event when a tab is activated in a jsf tabbedpanel is there any way to do this please help me

Well I don't see that you actually use the Pane Refnum from the top level VI but the following code works for me (I know this is not like yours)
But I think you got a point with the nested Event structure, this shouldn't be problem IF you uncheck the box 'Lock front panel ...' in the main VI. Checking this box will prevent the UI from be usable and fire events (just what you experience here)

Accordion tabs w/panel sub-nav - default open issues

I have a spry accordion in a left sidebar, and I'm using it as navigation for a slideshow for a website I'm working on. Each of my 5 accordion tabs has a different category of slideshow, with each panel having multiple sub-navigation links that each link to a different slideshow which appears in the main part of the page (to the right of the sidebar). Say it's something like this:
VENUES (tab)
(start panel)
Bayside Restaurant (link)
Historic Ballroom (link)
Western Ranch (link)
(end panel)
ACTIVITIES (tab)
(start panel)
Surfing (link)
Dancing (link)
Horse back riding (link)
(end panel)
The sub-navigation to each slideshow is activated by simply clicking on the text, which I linked with the "point to file" link tool in the properties menu.
Ideally, I'd like to work with one template in Dreamweaver for all pages/slideshows I'm creating, but I'm running into a problem. I know how to change the default panel in the .js so that a different one appears open when a user first accesses the page, but I can't figure out how to get the default panel to change when the user clicks on a different panel and attempts to use the subnavigation. The subnavigation works just fine (it takes the user to the correct slideshow), but then the panel snaps shut instead of remaining open on the one the user selected.
(So, to further explain with the example above, say the user wanted to look at all the links in the "Venues" tab, but the default is to have the "Activities" tab open on arrival. The "Venues" tab opens just fine on the click, but as soon as the user clicks on, say "Bayside Restaurant," the correct slideshow appears to the right, but then the "Venues" tab snaps shut and the "Activities" tab and its sub-navigation appears open again. The user then has to click on the "Venues" tab again if s/he wants to see the other options and view a different slideshow, rather than simply being able to click on the next link.)
I tried making multiple templates, with different default panels open as a solution, but that's not working either. . .for some reason it keeps defaulting back.
Does this make sense? Are there any solutions to this problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

I think I found your problem. It lies in the Javascript:

You have essentially duplicated the code in order to accomodate the useFixedPanelHeights. Consolidate it into single one, and remove the duplicate:

IE might be having trouble understanding the double instances of the script and is ignoring the latter one. Just keep the latter one and it might fix it.

Lock front panel until the event case for this event completes

A Dynamic Event is a filtered event? Is this why "Lock front panel until the event case for this event completes" is not shown on Edit Event window dialog? I use Dynamic Event so I can subvi the event structure.
I need stop my app from locking the FP whenever the user double clicks on the numerical array value (<-- the FP freezes the mouse and renders it useless) and stops the value from ever being changed. This event is registered for Value Change (not mouse up or down) and I get a locked mouse. As yet in the UI, no value changed occurs but I get a locked mouse. A LV bug?
Trying to KISS, I can see this fixing this by moving ONLY the value change event to the top level VI instead of a dynamic registered event in a subVI. This will give me the option to NOT "Lock front panel until the event case for this event completes" .

Its situation like what you described that has given me many insights into how LV actually works. In one of my bbuggy VI's I found that a class wire can run a million miles through multiple sub-VI queues etc but the data itself is only touched when it has to be touched. in my case it was a crash while trying to write bogus class dat to a TDMS file.

Using Child Panels - cannot FOCUS events are lost?

Hi all,
I am working with some legacy code that my boss would like updated. We have a background (parent) panel with many child panels that can come and go. Typically, we have two panels - one with controls and one with a graph - visible almost all the time. I have been trying to use FOCUS events to do some things, but one child panel (the control) appears to constantly get and lose focus. I'm seeing this in debug mode with the breakpoints at the event code for the panel callback. I'm careful to move the code windows away from this panel so the mouse isn't over it, but that seems to make no difference. Do child panels get the events of the parent panels? Also, the child panels do not appear to have max/min or close buttons in the title bar like standard windows. Is there some way to put them there without taking the child panel out of the parent panel?
Other things:
1. The boss would like to be able to resize a panel down to the point where clipping occurs, then automatically rearrange the controls so they line up vertically on one side of the panel and stop the resizing when they begin to be clipped. I have seen this done in Java with the Layout Manager, but never in C. Any suggestions? I know we can set a minimum resize value for a panel, but are there any easy ways to move the controls the way he wants?
2. An alternative is to make a toolbar with the controls inside, but he likes the windows icon tool buttons which I don't believe we have access to in CVI. I know we can make a command button and import an image to it, but is there a package that has the standard windows tool buttons that we can use?

How to handle tab change event in UI shell main area

Hi,
I have two tabs(two taskflows) in UI shell main area. one is department tab and another is employee tab. My department tab shows employees department wise. On employee tab I have emplyee table which shows employees jobwise. This employee table has the functionality of adding new record to employee vo as well.
Now i follow these steps.
1. by defualt department tab is open.
2. by clickinng on Tasks menu link i open Employee tab in to main area. Now i have both tabs in main area.
3. at Employee tab I search all employees job = accountant. It shows the search result well.
4. Now i add a new record to it and without saving/deleting this record i move to department tab.
5. at Department tab i search employees where department =20, here no relation b/w job and department.
6. Now i return to employee tab. my newly added record got disappeared. It is there but does not show in table.
How to resolve it??
I have one solution in my mind while changing the tab i can prompt to user "you can not leave the newly added record..either save it or delete it". But how to catch tab change event here? where i can write code to prompt msg to user?
Pls help.

With apologies for the slow reply, I'm currently travelling.
Two things to note:
1) The af:document uncommittedDataWarning flag was designed to stop users navigating away from half entered records. More about this flag can be found here:

....please note our documentation from time to time spells this flag wrong with only one "t" in the word committed, so if you're attempting a bulk search check for this (and I'll raise document bugs to get this fixed in the future).
2) On addressing the ADF UI Shell, if you're switching between "pages" in the UI Shell, as separate to switching between dynamic tabs within a single page using the UI Shell, the UI Shell will actually restart the currently running task flow in the page you're returning too. You can verify this by implementing an initializer on your task flow with a log message, and watching when the initializer is called.
In addressing your last question, at this stage I think you need to assess my first answer then come back if you think you sill need to execute the code on the tab click. I also need to know are you talking about the primary level of tabs that represent each page in the UI Shell, or are you referring to the dynamic tabs within a single UI Shell page that hold your task flows?

You can connect you FMS into the document status/document total/ Create date fields (select from the list), and not to the Customer when it is entered.
By this when you post the document, these fields are calculated / validated that time, so the fms will be called as the last step. int this way disabling the tab change is not necessary.

How to raise Panel's click event?

I have a button placed inside a panel and its dock property is set to FILL. When user clicks on that button, I want the panel's click event also to be raised. I tried setting panel capture property to TRUE, but the panel's click event is not rising. Can

You can call the Panels Click event sub like you would any other sub. I am not sure why you can`t just place the code from the Panel`s Click event sub into the Buttons Click event sub which would do the same thing but, if you really need to do it this
way then here is an example.

How to catch IE7 tab change event in Java Applet?

My applet have some modeless dialogs, When I start my applet with modeless dialog in tab1, if I swith to tab2, the modeless dialog of tab1 remains open.
So I want to catch the tab change event, and set modeless dialog invisible when tab changes.

To get to the IE7 browser, you'll have to go through JNI if you're using Java to get to a C level interface. You'll have to write the code to interface to it also. IE7 does not have a Java interface, inface, MS has a vested interest in not supporting a Java interface. You'll have to look up the IE7 developers docs to see the OLE interface you'll have to hit.

CS3: Panel in dock - Event?

A user move a panel into the dock and back. Is there an event if the panel is come back form the dock? I have to detect this for enabling/disabling.

Hi Alejandromxl. I'm attaching an example of how to disable every control in the front panel directly from the subpanel. It uses the same method you described but this should be slightly more friendly.
As for the event structure. When you enable that option what it does is that it freezes every control/indicator in the front panel while the Event Case is executing. This is done to ensure you do not duplicate events while one is already being processed.

Spry Sliding Panel automatic changes

Will "Value change" events fire when changed via ActiveX?

I have a VI with an Event Structure defining several Value Changed events. These events are associated with various buttons on the control panel. When I work through the panel and press the buttons, the events fire correctly. However, if I connect via the COM/ActiveX control and change the control values, the button indicator light changes, but the Value Change event does not fire. Can we trigger value changed events remotely or must they be triggered via a mouse-click on the button?

Help with value change events

I need to be able to use the value change event to handle sorting and control the properties of a multicolumn listbox. I have a slow loop that runs every 10 seconds and acquires new data if it's available. New data is appended directly to the list box. The event structure handles two events. One to change colors of the text when new data is added and another to sort the contents when a user clicks on the column header. The first event seems to work just fine. It only runs when new data is added. The second event is the problem. It runs every time the loop runs and ties up the user interface so that it does not respond.
What am I doing wrong??
By the way, it seems that whatever I am doing wrong crashes LabVIEW while I am
editing the vi. Probably during a partial compile. LabVIEW crashed twice while I was creating this test vi and I don't normally have trouble with LabVIEW crashing. It has crashed in both the transact.cpp and panel.cpp.

I have made a few quick modifications, see attached.
-- The lower loop should probably be a plain loop, since the timing is done by the event structure.
-- You cannot use a shift register in the upper loop if you want the acquired list to remain sorted.
Sorry, I am on vacation in the middle of nowhere and only spend a few minutes on this. There are many improvements possible.

Value change using DataSocket can't create value change event on remote computer?

I am trying to create an event on the remote computer:
Local computer:
Change a value in remote computer by DataSocket.
Remote Computer:
create a event: when the value changes.
I can see the value change on the remote computer; however, the value change doesn't cause the "value change event".
Anyone tried this before? Thanks.

Hi,
Event Structure monitors a specified event based on user interaction on the front-panel objects. However, it does not monitor event generated programmatically like a change in the DataSocket data value. In order to generate a value change event with the DataSocket, you will need to use the "value (signaling)" property node for the DataSocket data or control. This property node sets the value of the control and also generates a Value Change event.
To create the property node, simply right click the control and select "Create>>Property Node>> Value (Signaling)". You can then wire the output from the DataSocket read to this property.

How to tackle the dataflow problem when Value Change event always triggers after another GUI event

We know that Value change event always triggers after another GUI event. Eg, the user modifies string control, the user clicks on a boolean control. Then event boolean clicked is triggered before event string control value change.
Now suppose somehow the GUI event that must happen to subsequently trigger the Value change event can potentially affect the data that Value change event is supposed to work on. How can we tackle this problem ?
For example, in a mockup application that the grand purpose is to have user entered values in a textbox logged to a file (no missing information is accepted, and there is a boolean to determine how the information is logged).
There are 2 controls, boolean A when clicked (mouse down) will load random number in text box B. Text box B is designed with event structure VALUE change which saves whatever values user enters into text box B to a log file.
There are 3 problems when instead of clicking anywhere on the front panel after modifying text box B, the user ends up clicking on boolean control A.
1. Event mouse down on Boolean control A will execute first, modifying text box B content before the user entered values in B get saved.
2. The value of boolean A can potentially affect how textbox B is loggged.
3. The value of boolean A affects how the file is logged and this is indeterminate. Somehow when running this VI with no Highlighting, the textbox B Value change event executes -before- boolean A value is updated (F to T). When running this VI with Highlighting, the boolean A value is updated (F to T) (because we click on it) -before- textbox B value change event occurs. Why is it like this ?
Now the situation I made up seems non-sense, but I believe it resembles one way or another a problem that you might run into. How would you solve this problem elegantly ?

You can set the string control to "update while typing".
Are you sure appending the log to itself is reasonable? Wouldn't it grow without bounds if the users keeps entering strings or pressing the ingore button?
Why isn't the "constant" a diagram constant instead of a control. Is the user allowed to change it?
To reset just write empty strings or a false to local variables of the controls (renit to defaults" seems a bit heavy handed).
All you probably need is a single event case for "ignore:value change" and "String" value changed", no need for the local variable..
Also add a stop button and an event for it.
You don't need the timeout event.
